Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

20 Sep 2020 20:38:47
I’m happy we are playing a 3-5-2 formation and I’m fine with the fact we will give away more chances to the opposition because I still feel Celtic will score more goals.
With the squad of players Lennon has at his disposal, I think Celtic have an advantage over all the other clubs especially with the 5 substitution rule.
But I don’t think he used the subs to our advantage yesterday.
With the way the game was finishing yesterday, I was certain when Lennon brought on Elyounoussi and Turnbull with only 5 minutes to go, we were going to change to a 4-2-3-1 and get more control and see out the game. Especially when it was our 5th substitution.
I thought he was putting Ajer right back, Bitton in the middle with Duffy and Elyounoussi, Turnbull and Forrest behind Klimala up top.
I just thought it was a strange decision by Lennon to put Elyounoussi up front with Klimala with 5 minutes to go.

21 Sep 2020 13:57:23
I said at the time when he got the job permanently, that no matter what success N L bought to Celtic, regrettably there would be many who would claim to be Celtic supporters, who would pay more attention to their Rangers supporting fan and the Main Stream Scottish Media rather than the evidence of what NL has achieved as Celtic Manager and would want him replaced by someone who knows nothing about Scottish Football or else is a managerial weakling.

Just doing my usual look through at scores etc on the live score app and noticed that omar elabdellaoui has signed for galatasaray. Checked transfer market site and he sign for free? At only 28 would of been a fantastic signing especially in the 3-5-2 formation. Hope everyone has had a great weekend 👍, HH.

I do like to revel in the rangers dropping points, but im not bragging to much, as i think we will still drop points as we look shaky defending, but hopefully we can still scrape by and pick up wins not playing particulary well.

Sevco struggle to win 5 games in a row and a winning streak is key to winning the title.
Celtic had 2 good spells last season with 11 and 8 league wins in a row.
And Celtic are currently on 5 league wins in a row.

It looks like the manager has a problem with 3 double acts and trying to squeeze as many of the 6 players into a formation is what he is trying to do. Forrest or Ping-Pong? Christie or Nchamp? Eddie or Ajeti or both? Personally I believe he can fix the Nchamp/ Christie dilemma by resting his captain and playing both. The striker conundrum is easily solved by a 352 formation which makes sense, getting 2 of our best players on the pitch together. Forrest/ pingpong is more difficult and I think he should just play the form player with the other keeping him on his toes. That doesn't bring into play the LWB issue and that has to be resolved by buying someone as its the only position we don't have covered. I don't think Taylor is bad wee player at left back but he is never a wing back and we simply don't have one as playing Forest there is just square pegs in round holes and against decent opposition will be exploited. Up to PL to get the finger out and fill that position and for Lennon to step up to the plate and start making some big decisions. IE dropping Brown and seeing how we play. IMO we will be a far more dynamic team.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Sep 2020 17:01:35
I agree with your post. As much as I love Brown, Lennon needs to give Ntcham more consistent playing time. Also, Taylor is definitely not a wing back, and he looks quite uncomfortable as times. In my opinion, it is now time to start the respectful phasing out of Scott Brown in the center of midfield. We have young promising talents that need a chance to flourish.

Genuine query to gauge people's thoughts

Ps, thought ajeti looked really good yesterday in spells

3 questions

Do you think we will see Griff again in a Celtic starting line up?
Does a fit Griff get in to 1st eleven?
Would you like to see Griff back in the team or at least around the 1st team squad?

20 Sep 2020 15:44:47
Lubo, you may be aware I asked a similar question the other week about LG. My gut feeling is that his days at Celtic Park are numbered. He has a few factors blocking his path to the first team;- personal issues/ lifestyle choices, fitness issues and 3 players in the queue in front of him. Time will tell.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 15:53:48
Lubo a definite yes from me a natural goalscorer dead ball expert, Duffy would relish his crosses from corner kicks I can’t understand fans not wanting him in the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 15:55:48
Unfortunately lubo the position giffs is in is all of his own making. We needed him this season for Europe and the guy comes back over weight and unfit. Celtic have backed him all the way but the lad just doesn't seem to learn. I think a lot of fans have lost faith with the guy and who could blame anyone. The lad needs to get his head and life in order big time. As for Celtic l can't see how he comes back in unless we have a list of our C. F. out injuried.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 15:56:10
Even when he came back and scored in the latter stages of the 9-in-a-row, there were signs he was never going regain his 40 goal vintage best challenge and injury apart, his discipline is still very suspect.
A lot may depend on Eddy staying; but with Ajeti, Klimala and Elyounnoussi in front of him at present, he is not even on the bench.
Maybe a loan-move to Hibs or similar would work for both parties?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 15:57:33
If we desparately needed a goal I'd be much more confident in Griffiths scoring than Klimala. The dilemma is, what message does it send to the guy who's worked his backside off during lockdown if he misses out to the guy who was publicly criticised by the gaffer for not pulling his weight?

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 15:57:42
Griffiths is the best finisher we have. His dead ball qualities are second to none and a definite miss. If he gets his finger out and hits form then it will be hard for Lennon not to select him👍.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 16:04:22
I actually think if he is fit he is our third choice striker. If as hoped he finally starts playing Eddie and Ajeti together (hopefully Eddie has had a nice we rest and is ready to join us again) then he is first onto the pitch if one of the other pair gets injured or is playing crap. I don't think he can be far away now as the Polish lad just doesn't cut the mustard for me. It would be interesting to see a fit LG and Ajeti playing up to together. It could potentially be a lethal combo. stokes and Hooper im thinking!

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 16:16:40
Griff will come back we can play upto 5 subs so squad at moment until either new contract for Eddy is signed or 5th of Oct comes and goes and we still have Eddy i would not be getting rid of griff just yet till Jan at least just in case Eddy does go.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 16:32:55
He is a squad man. don't think we can say he is best finisher. Early days but ajeti looks like an unbelievable finisher. He would be third choice for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 18:53:50
He would be 3rd choice I think. Klimala has worked hard but think if I was looking for one of the 2 to come on and nick a late winner I'd bet on Griffiths.

You are correct about the penalties.
But Paul Hanlon only received a yellow card for his challenge across Hagi today.
It was a very similar challenge to what Douglas Ross Red, Red, Red gave against Jozo when Morelos went down.

Apparently we have conceded four penalties already this season and it's still September.
Obviously we have defensive issues that need to be addressed, but the interpretation of The Honest Mistake Merchants will also be a factor in those given and conceded.
Both penalty incidents yesterday would have been ball-to-hand before the new 'interpretations', but the Livingston player actually stopped a goal bound shot and was excused, whereas the official gave a PK as soon as it had hit Ajer on the arm.
I don't know anyone who can slide into a block - at pace - with their hands behind their back without risking injury? It's an instinctive balancing and protection reflex to be in that body shape, not a deliberate 'diving save'. I fully expect more of the same to come.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

20 Sep 2020 14:09:45
Every penalty we have gave away has been a penalty not because of operation stop the 10 or the honest mistake brigade are out to get us or whatever mince is going on in your head but because we are very poor defensively. Barkas looks awful imo, that's twice he has been beat from distance now.

Just been reading an article about Henrik and thinking about the team that got to the UEFA Cup final.

Th players we had at the time were still in their prime and, for Scotland, they cost a fair bit at the time. We also had Martin O'Neill and he was a bit of a coup for us then as well.

Since then we've been more of a business than a team. Okay, we've been pretty successful but the standard of player has dropped a lot since then. There weren't as many home grown players then as we have now.

We're spending just enough to get us over the line, have been doing that for the last few seasons, but will we ever see a team and level that we got in 2002-03 ever again?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Sep 2020 11:40:34
Stengo all tell why that is mate then wee had to keep up with that manky cheating lot from across the way when really it was them that was trying to keep up with the biggest club in Scotland . And the players you could get then for the money wee spent were a better calibabre of player the money down south has made it harder to get quality these days .

I remember at the time MON saying that Leicester received 7m from TV at the time he came to Celtic, that's now circa £100 million.
We had the 2nd highest wage bill behind Man Utd on a turn over of between 50 - 70 million, fast forward to today and our turnover hasn't increased that much but in the pub league even little clubs are turning over £130 million. TV destroyed Scottish Football and we'll never see the likes of the MON days unless there's a complete rebuild of European football.

Apparently we've got a psychologist on board now to emotionally massage the players.
Apparently we aren't playing as well as we can because there are no fans watching.
Am I the only one to notice that all other teams seem to be playing under the same circumstances?
Against St. Mirren and Livingston we have looked flippin shocking. Yes we got 2 wins but we won't when we play the better sides. At the moment Hibs and the Sheep as well as the Sevs would seriously fancy their chances against us. HH.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Sep 2020 10:04:15
He’s not got a settled team or formation Ajer is never a centre half and Taylor is a Kilmarnock player in a Celtic top brown has to sit out and get Christie McGregor and Turnbull in that midfield with Ajeti and Eddie up front he can make any excuse he wants but it’s the same for every team.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 10:44:38
To be fair the wee teams are used to very little atmosphere and this situation helps them when they come to play us - particularly when Celtic are struggling to find their best team, formation and form - while part of the reason players join Celtic is to perform in front of 60,000 at Celtic Park (especially in big games) .
I'm not saying it's an excuse for the performances (which have still put us top of the league btw) , but it's a factor in motivation and even attitude, when every game seems like a training exercise?

A one game suspension kicks in 14 days after a player receives his 6th league booking.
If Celtic win on Thursday, Brown will be available to face Sevco no matter what.
If he gets booked in our next 2 league games to take him to 6 bookings there will be less than 14 days until the Derby game. ( 13 days after St. Johnstone game )
Providing the St. Johnstone game gets moved to the Sunday due to Celtic playing in a Europa league playoff tie.

Broony has been magnificent for us through the years, not always everyone’s cup of tea and I would be lying if I said I hadn’t had a go at him myself a few times. but not one of us can question his commitment and his part in this hugely successful time in his career! He’ll go down in our history as a fantastic captain! But Father Time catches up with us all and broony ain’t no different! While I’m not saying he’s done, I do feel games like yesterday he can sit out! 5 subs yesterday and he still played 90 mins! Absolutely staggering honestly, then Lennon says after it he won’t play every game! If that wasn’t a game young turnbull could start then god knows what is! Some of the managers decisions since the season started have been baffling to say the least! Top of the league is our main objective and we’re back up there! But our defending and general play has been really poor at times! Get a settled team and stick to it! We’ve got to the top by not being our best, now let’s get this transfer window out the road and get a settled 11 on the pitch!

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 14:33:43
Lennon has to take the initiative and responsibility away from Broony as I believe he is 'un-droppable' at present and it will cost us.
Whether he does not trust the rest to do the job, or he is too loyal; there has to be common sense here when to select Broony and when not.
Home games against bottom clubs should be a no-brainer, where Cal-Mac can do the job perfectly well, with Bitton, Soro, or Ntcham as a second holding player if needed?
