Anyone else noticed that Peter lawwell has been pretty quiet? Normally he is at the front with the cats smile in these situations. As far as I know he is no where in site.

Where does John Park fit in to plans now? can't see Brendan Rodgers putting up with usual nonsense from PL and JP.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 May 2016 23:37:06
PL seems to have been sidelined? Which hopefully means an end to his sidekicks too.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2016 00:15:17
BR worked under a scouting/ transfer committee before so I wouldn't read too much into that. If DD wants it to be a certain way, be certain it will. Pl has had a few links to go elsewhere this year and from rumblings yeah he may be off. I still think PL is a valuable asset as long as his influence on the playing side of the club is kept in check.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 22:46:23
Well chaps I did ask for DD and the board to put our Money where their mouth is, and I think they just delivered beyond belief.
This is the best appointment we could have asked for.

So the next question is, Who has a song for BR Come on guys Celtic fans are the best in the game at making songs up?

ED: i'm sure you have been swamped today so thanks,
This is the best site going.

I'm g@sh at this but I'll give it a go.
To the tune of sound of silence Simon and garfunkel

Hello Brendan my old friend
Were going to win the league again
Not a care who's creeping in
Sheep, Dundee, Caledonian
And the club
planted in our hearts
Still the same
Within the stands
Of paradise.
And we'll never walk alone
From cobbled streets to squares of Rome
Wee Tierney on the flank
Chipped to Leigh
Heeeeder . top bag
And when Tommy
hits a volley
What a strike
Pure delight
And from their stands
The sound of silence
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na.

I saw that they had "adopted" it.

Seeing as they lack both a sense of humour and any self awareness, I have to imagine that they don't know the real lyrics: which includes an incessant rambling about having no money.

Ed do u know how to go about registering for a season ticket in the disabled section. Ma bhoys ten now and it's about time he had his first season ticket, I realise there will probably be a massive queue especially after today's news, but u never know. A don't think I can register an interest in the usual way. No need to post this unless u think it might help someone else to have the info. Cheers mate and give your self a pat on the back (and your source) ;-)

20 May 2016 20:32:04
Thanx for the replies below lads, am actually a Everton fan who wants Celtic to be a great club again and attract big players, I don't personally like Rodgers for obvious reasons but I think he will be a good appointment up there, we have a few youngsters who I think would benefit from a season on loan in Scotland Tom Davies and kieron Dowell I think would boost your first team, Davies is only 17 and is twice the player Joe Allen is haha c'mon lads you don't want red cast offs do yas?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

20 May 2016 21:15:22
We don't want your kids either.

Agree2 Disagree1

20 May 2016 21:56:38
Our kids would walk in your team mate no disrespect but there top draw mate.

Agree1 Disagree2

20 May 2016 22:17:42
Johny I was at the Everton v Southampton game last month, Davies came on in the second half and i thought he did really well i said at the time he's going to be a player, I expect him to get more game time with yourselves next season.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 May 2016 23:28:03
Johny, if they're so top drawer, maybe you should let them walk into your team - given how gash you've been the last 18 months.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2016 23:47:12
I would love our team to be full ov our youth next year mate the likes ov Davies Dowell Connelly Kenny ledson and grant but can't c a new manager giving them all starting roles with the influx of money into our club, I am genuinely not disrespecting your team hear I am just reading that you would be happy with the likes ov Joe Allen, am just saying Davies is twice the player and Allen would cost in excess of 5-7 million I would say then would want 30/ 40 grand a week, would it not make sense to look at loaning young talent for a massive fraction ov the price, rangers new cm rossiter got absolutely bullied by Davies twice last season when head to head in the u21 derby so if he's good enough then trust me Davies would dominate games in the middle of the park for yous.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2016 00:09:15
Good enough for Rangers and good enough for us (given how strong we are in that department) are two very different things.

I'm not against loans, Roberts has been a breath of fresh air, but not to the detriment of our own youth. Ajar and Henderson are both young, promising midfielders who have over 100 first team games between them. They should be pushed forward over the next season.

As for Joe Allan, he would bring experience to said youth. Not that I think we are getting him but tonight's been an exciting night - so I won't piss on that bonfire.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 20:16:30
I'm honestly buzzing about the appointment of Brendan Rodgers not been this excited since seville what a coup.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

20 May 2016 22:18:32
We are all totally buzzing. But if you look at this with a neutral head on. We needed to make a big appointment as we the fans were sick of project managers and watching the team go into decline. So I think the board HAD to make a big appointment and give him a good transfer budget.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 20:07:58
Hi fellow paradiseians, first post on the page. Want to say a huge thanks to eds who do such a good job on the page.

Here I go. I have got to say I am very happy that we have Rodgers. He is an excellent manager that has had success at every chance in his managerial career. I know some of the bhoys in this page don't like him but I know he can get rid of the dead wood and transform other players. I can see it now, Gary Mackay-Steven the Scottish Luis Suarez. This is a list of players I think will fit in well with his philosophy and players we should get in.

Joe Allen, worked with him before and is a great passer. Might be a but ambitious at the minute but maybe Rodgers could pull a few strings.

Ricky Lambert, he would link up well with king Grith and score for fun against the might of the SPL

Kevin Diks, a right back from Vitesse. Lot's of potential and a good player. Watched him a lot on youtube and sky. I know this might not mean much but develops well on Football manager.

I would like to see another couple young Scots brought into the team. Also.

Hail Hail Rodgers.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

20 May 2016 21:11:38
Joe Allen maybe, Lambert no, the other I never heard tell of.

Agree0 Disagree1

Lots cup finals all over europe this weekend but my first bet is on the one in Glasgow.
When I tell you I am actually putting money on a Hibs win, you will think I am bonkers to actually risk money on Hibs, the perennial bottlers, and with SFA having their own men in place ON the park to ensure a newco victory.
But as a gambler, I sometimes go with my own gut feelings and my gut is saying HIBERNIAN. It has not told me the exact method of Hibs victory so here are my bets. Hibs in 90 minutes 16/ 5, draw 13/ 5, Hibs in extra time 12/ 1, Hibs on penalties 16/ 1.
Also my gut has told me the banker bet is a penalty at 3/ 1.
My head has told me Cummings anytime scorer at evens and my heart is telling me that the newco clubs fans will be crying going home. COYBIG.

The fact you think we don't need a RB considering Lustig wants to play at CB, Janko is away, Fischer hasn't exactly set heather alight at St Johnstone and Ralston didn't exactly impress much on his debut (I'm assuming you have watched loads of reserve games the way your going on about him) makes your opinion questionable in my eyes.

Do u think Rodgers will go to Liverpool for players and who do u realistically c coming in now u have a hight profile manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 May 2016 19:21:59
Not unless its youngsters we are after. The way prices are going down there even fringe players are going for Β£10mil+. Wouldn't mind Kolo Toure if he is a free agent though. Scott Sinclair could be an option if we are going down the route of players he has worked with. Linked with Danny Graham recently but I wouldn't want him. If we are to sign an experienced striker I'd much rather have Steven Fletcher.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 19:25:14
I think he might go to Liverpool for ibe or Allan get rid of some of our deadwood free up some space for really good players and finally a proven manager not a project manager let's hope he is allowed to appoint his own backroom team.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2016 19:44:01
I do not think we could tempt Ibe, but I think Allen might be his first signing, Ibe's wages I am told are around 45k now, so a fee and that on a long term contract might be a bit rough.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 20:26:10

It's his agent should be the one celtic employ because how he got him the moves and money he has is a miracle.

I listened to the phone in just to hear the negative slant that they would put on BRs appointment and true to form that muppet Johnston started making comparisons to PLG at old rangers . 21 May 2016 00:11:06
Well Ed it now over what a coup for us great timing to announce it to haha. Who will be his number two will it be someone he trust or someone who know the Scottish Seen possibility of a Lennon or yogi what do u think?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If that's the choices then it's Hughes all day long for me. Don't discount O'Driscoll though.}

21 May 2016 00:50:52
Apparently Rodger is friendly with Lennon just a thought but I would have yogi too. Was interesting listening to the Chairman say that if anyone seen the last game hear we won 7-0 so we have a good squad here. To the question about money for the new manager? Is there something hidden in that?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The squad isn't needing major work additions wise, 3/4 quality additions would make a world of difference but we'll need to wait and see what happens. We'll win the league next year easily without buying anyone and just concentrating on moving players on but if we don't qualify for the CL the pressure will be on Rodgers right away so there will be money available.}

Non celtic question . are laptops meant to run on their batteries only. or constantly plugged into mains?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 May 2016 14:39:28
its good for the battery to get used on its own every so often and running mains only will probably shorten the battery life over time. If you like to run it in the mains mostly and the battery doesn't need charged then it might be a good idea to remove the battery when it's in use sometimes.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 14:45:10
DRB, you should always take out the plug when it's charged. You can normally download a battery management tool for laptops now, that will only charge to 80 or 90% to stop overcharging ruining the battery.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2016 14:46:22
It can be to the battery's detriment if it's constantly plugged into the mains. I'm a writer, so whilst I move around Etc, I predominantly use my laptop at my desk - which is exactly the problem above.

My advice would be to use it off mains, and charge it every other day. If you use it a lot like me, make sure that every couple of days you use the battery only.

Worse case scenario, the batt burns out and it becomes mains only, which has happened before- and short of replacing your battery, which can be very expensive, it's new lap top time.

Hope that helps buddy.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 May 2016 15:12:16
Thanks for replies guys . v helpful. I've had 3 laptops the first two went the same way picture / video went and this one show g the symptoms of previous two . it just occurred to me laptops are meant to be portable not static and my keeping it on mains s constantly could be the problem . thanks again for replies and any others that come after this post.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's the same with phones and tablets. The battery life on my tablet isn't the best because I used to just leave it plugged in all the time and I'm fed up telling my Mrs about having her phone constantly on charge when she's in the house.}

20 May 2016 16:52:53
It's healthier to run a battery down rather than charging as soon as it's got 60% or 70% left.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 10:54:57

20 May 2016 11:16:24
Cool I think we might get another cf in as I think I read somewhere Rodgers likes to play a 4-3-3.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've already started moves to bring in a RB.}

20 May 2016 11:18:22
I would like us to go for another 2 quality strikers as well as centre half and right back! If Griffiths gets injured all we have are CKR and Cole and that's terrifying! I know Ciftci and Scepovic are due back but i'd like to think they will be moved on.

{Ed007's Note - We've asked Chelsea how much training compensation they want for Ola Aina.}

Is that the boy from Chelsea Ed.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Yes.}

20 May 2016 11:55:01
I thought we might have went for mcginn from Dundee.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 11:57:27
Is it not strange them going ahead with transfer plans without having a manager ED? Surely the new guy would want a say on who comes in?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not getting into that again.}

20 May 2016 12:02:30
Maybe they have already asked the manager which players he would like and we are starting the negotiations just now.

Or maybe we've been interested in Aina for a few month and it doesn't matter who the manager is, we're trying to sign him.

I'd rather keep lustig and develop young ralston alongside him . if fit lustig is as good a rb as we've had. and young ralston looks a prospect. this could give us the best scenario a fitter lustig and a ready made replacement gaining experience.

Is RB really a need? We have 3 of them! I'd have thought LB would have been a priority for covering KT? A CF is a must and get rid of those 2 useless lumps of Cole and Richards!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 14:08:25
Lustig, Janko, Fisher and Ralston are enough options at RB. We defo need another CB I agree although I would like to see Lustig at CB next season he's very capable there and I'd also make him captain.

For me the biggest position we need to look at is strikers, we need REAL quality this time and someone who we KNOW for sure will do the business and get us goals in Europe. I'm talking Jonathan Soriano for example, failing that Zlatan lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Janko will move on this summer.}

20 May 2016 15:38:35
Is that a definite. . ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - About Janko? 99% mate, he doesn't like Glasgow very much and hasn't settled up here at all.}

20 May 2016 16:58:56
Isn't it strange people can come hundreds of miles from far flung areas of Europe and beyond and can settle in . While others come from a couple of hours drive like Janko and Wilson and cannot stay.

Loved the picture on social media yesterday from a betfred shop in Glasgow, Newco Rangers v hibs, just hope whoever was responsible doesn't loose their job over it.

I know there's no new manager in place and hopefully he will be the man to make the signings. I just think it would be good business to buy Cummings from Hibs then loan him back initially for 6 months possibly the full season.
It gives Hibs the extra finances they need and the opportunity to keep the player while the Hoops have a good striker secured for the future while allowing him to continue his development guaranteeing him some game time with the opportunity to recall him if required half way through the season.

Time to stop shopping in Scotland for us I'd say.

20 May 2016 11:44:32
There are a couple players I think would make our squad better in Scotland but none of them play in the championship
No one at that level will improve our squad

He'd be a good back-up to LG domestically for sure, especially ahead of CKR and Cole but I think we need to set our sights higher and really assert our dominance.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2016 12:19:36
No he's not.
He's championship level and we are the champions of the top league.
It has already been proved with Allan now people want us to buy more players fae that level??

20 May 2016 13:35:53
Yes he is, he's younger and better than both of them.

I would have thought Celtic have already got the cream of Scottish youth players. Still can't understand the farming out of the likes of Henderson and the buying of Allan etc.

Moving on, does anyone think if BR gets the job will any of the young lads get a chance.
Think I read somewhere here that at Swansea it was part of his job description to do so. I doubt if the same ideology would be in place at Celtic as RB seems to be holding the aces and calling the shots.
What could be to our advantage is that DD is 1 hard a#sed business man like him or loath him.
Scenario scenario.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 May 2016 14:45:50
TTTS I don't think there's a manger in the game who wouldn't like to promote youth. The question is whether BR or whoever comes in thinks that the young lads are good enough. We've got a fairly young team in general with only Gordon, Brown and Lustig starting regularly at 30 or over.

He's a championship player who's club beat Aberdeen 3-0 days after the beat us with 10 men, Dundee Utd 3-0 and on penalties, Hearts 2-1 and a draw at Tynecastle, Inverness away, StJohnstone 2-1 and Rangers twice. He's defo better than Carlton Cole, Kazim Richards, Callum McGregor, Nadir Cifti and would be a good impact player from the bench for Β£1m tops.
Sure we should be looking for a better standard to play alongside LG but as our 3rd or 4th choice he would do well. He would probably improve playing with better players.
I assume you think Henderson is not good enough to get in Celtic squad either? He's better than half of the pre madonnas in midfield we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2016 17:07:26
I think as we are a club who don't have spare cash to throw around we should only buy the players we want . I am never convinced about loaning back or loaning out young players, I think the number of times we have benefitted from loaning out is few and far between . If we had loaned out K Tierney we would probably not have the wonderful exciting left back we now have .
Have a massive thinning down of our fully developed players who are not playing first team football regularly, players like Mullgrew Ambrose Commons Stokes etc and have youngsters training with first team squad, ready for a game if needed .

If Rodgers is the new boss and I hope he is. What the feelings on big yogi as number 2? Looks set to leave ict plus we could pay him more as number 2 than he gets up there the now. And face it Rodgers will only do 2-3 years tops. Give big yogi experience at the club for when Rodgers moves, plays football right way.
