Hearing that Boerrigter has asked to play through the middle next season. If this is the case I would play him up front for the remaining games to see if it makes a difference.

I think he should be punted in the summer, but I doubt anyone would want him. What a waste of £3m by the club last summer!

Agree0 Disagree0

In hindsight it has been an awful season for him Hamilton but he was quality when fit for Ajax, so I was pleased when we did sign him. And at the start of the season he rightly walked into the side. When featured against Milan and Barca he showed a quality, composure and confidence on the ball no one else offered. In fairness it's not the back injury that has kept him out this term. By the sounds of things though he's fit now but still not getting a game. Perhaps just another case of NL sticking with the regulars. I've said it before, if my auntie had a set of balls she'd be my uncle but if Derk gets back to how he can play he could be a very important forward for us. The problem for us is though, as you indicate, getting rid of players. Fair enough when we have quality that can show it it's not a problem, but when a player fails to light up the SPFL the way someone like Michael Higdon can do, who's going to want them. Ideally, I 'd like a quality finisher, with Watt Griffiths and Balde making up the numbers. But offloading Pukki and Stokes is a tough ask.

Agree0 Disagree0

I and others had mentioned at the start of the season that he looked like a guy who would always be prone to injury of one type or another. At Ajax he had one major injury and when it cleared up they punted him but it always looked like another injury would soon follow. A bit like Michael Owen was. When he's fit and playing he looks decent but the problem is he doesn't look fit enough often enough.

I actually didn't know there was a petition going to change the name of Kerrydale St. to Jock Stein Way.
Please take the time to sign it by clicking here

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As great a man Jock stein was, he already has a stand and statue in his name. Another legend should be remembered in my opinion, or it should even simply be renamed The Celtic Way - even if the PLC have forgotten what that is!

Is it just me? A young black player was allegedly abused at a game at Walsall, so what did the English FA (those paragons of virtue) they asked Walsall the OFFENDING team to investigate, and surprise, surprise Walsall said " nothing to see, please move on FA"
Case closed by the FA.

Well ED007 you called it right again.
Big banner headline in tonight's Evening Times
CELTIC STRIKER gets date set for assault.
Then you read the story and it says the alleged assault happened while he was a WOLVES player on loan to HIBS.
But as usual our club's name dragged through the mud .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It was never going to be portrayed any other way Timbo. When was the last time there was any positive news from, or about, the club that made your chest puff out that little bit extra? It's no wonder so many fans have become so disillusioned and I can't see it getting any better unless there is major changes.}

It was never going to be portrayed in any other way, it's the way the Scottish media work!
I work with the little Tw@ts dad and have played football with him, and no it's not Griffiths it's the wee F@ck that got done in "apparently" I wish, couldn't have happened to a better person!
But none the less, Griffiths another Tw@t shouldn't rise to the bait, I could say he's meant to be some sort of roll model or professional?! I'll stick to the Tw@t, he should no better.
Now he's with Celtic hopefully he knows better, too little too late?
Apart from being a Tw@t of a dad I can't judge him on the rest as I've done it all! And so have many other players, possibly and probably not publicised to the same extent?!

Every player will devide opinion barring the greats, right down to the mince past and present.
Who should play? What formation? Who's fault when we lose?
Ed won't change his mind on Griffiths, I won't change my mind on Balde, pukki mibe make it yet? Mulgrew just doing enough?
As a person, who I don't know, Balde will probs be head and shoulders better than Griffiths, as a player? Griffiths will always be better than THAT for half the price! Watt, could and should have been given/taken the chance to be better than Griffiths (as a player).
If Watt would feckin train and realise "watt" he had/has they could play together.
BUT. that's what the great, and sometimes annoying, frustrating best game in the world will bring. OPINIONS!

What major changes would you like to see ed? This is a genuine question so don't you be going off on one of your verbal assaults like you did against poor Chrisbhoy lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - First off I would like to see a new manager brought in, someone who will instill a more exciting and cavalier approach to our playing style. CFC have traditionally played an attacking style with a touch of flair and the football on show is as dire as anything Walter Smith or Craig Levein ever offered up. The club as a whole needs to move away from this small club mentality and willingness to be a big fish in a wee pond, we have the potential to at least be a medium sized fish in the big pond, far too many people attached to the club seem to think we should be grateful just for being allowed into the CL and see anything we get as an undeserved bonus. Look at the way we as a club pandered to Barcelona, there were articles on the official website about what Iniesta etc had said, ffs non-league clubs do that when they get drew against a big team in the cup, it's beyond pathetic and cringy as f**k!
I would rather be hated, despised even, see us competing and known as a hard team to beat than be seen as some party trick where our fans are wheeled out to entertain whilst the team gets humiliated, only to then be patronised by all and sundry with a nice little pat on the head about how great a club we are, we know and we don't need them to tell us.
The squad needs major investment, there are far too many players at the club who are simply not good enough, I've listed them a hundred times but the likes of Mulgrew, Forrest, Pukki, Balde etc bring nothing positive to the team and are nowhere near the level to compete in the CL, especially Mulgrew and Forrest, the other two probably deserve until January at least to prove themselves.
The money the club makes, especially from player sales, should be reinvested in the squad but some fans are more interested in balance sheets than what is being served up on the park.
We have signed players like Forster, Lustig, van Dijk, Wanyama, Hooper, Biton, Johanssen, Ledley, Mattews, Izaguirre so the quality of player is out there if the board are willing to sanction the spending.
All the infatuation with Sevco and the garbage about needing them has to be forgot about. Fans should spend more time worrying about their own club than what's going on at Ibrox. We know they're a new club, and although they won't admit it, they know they're a new club and the rest of the world knows they are a new club, arguing over it just gives the lie credibility. We posted profits of £21.3 million so how the hell do we need The Rangers, for four games a season? B0llocks! Finally Peter Lawwell has to go, he seems to do what is best for Peter Lawwell rather than what is best for Celtic.
I could go on all night but that's a start I reckon. (I hope this text is formatted ok, I typed it on my tablet.}

First of all Ed I appreciate your reply, but I don't think things are as drastic as a lot of fans make out . I agree with a lot of your reply e.g the cringe worthy patronising comments from the Football world that seems to arrive at our doorstep on CL nights, our manager who I dared to criticize a few seasons back on here after one of our many domestic cup defeats , this "he's one of us" crap annoys the f*** out of me. WGS done a tremendous job at Celtic, the backbone of that team that reached the last 16 twice was McManus, Caldwell, Wilson, Hartley, Robson and McDonald, hardly superstar names but well organised, but the wee man was hounded out because his profile didn't tick the right boxes. The investment in the team part is where I disagree, I feel the club is in an impossible position the now and it's nothing to do with the demise of Sevco fc, we simply can't compete any more than we're doing at the moment, purely down to the fact that TV cash unfortunately rules football. Spending our £20,000,000 profit will get us where? we might beat Ross County 8-0 instead of 4-0. The Martin O'Neil years we did spend but never made last 16 although I loved those years. Anyway it could be a lot worse remember the 90's? back then you would of given your eye teeth to be in the position we are now. Anyway I'm starting to talk p***, had a few shandies the night off the morro, I know there was more a wanted to say but forgot

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We should be spending money on the team, fees or wages to attract the quality of player that will make us, at the very least, a last 16 CL team or getting 3rd, dropping down and challenging in the latter stages of the EL. Lawwell, Lennon, players and fans preach and insinuate we are too big for Scottish football, it's about time we acted like it. Bayernn Munich are running away with the Bundesliga, do you think their fans moan about how easy it is and how they should save money? We are in a far stronger financial position than Olymiakos who won their league at the weekend, we pay better wages, have a higher income and are a much bigger club overall, they travelled to OT with a 2-0 lead in the CL and we have just watched a cup final in our stadium that we weren't playing in after going out to Morton!
Keeping the £20m in the bank isn't doing us any good unless you are a board member or dividend paying shareholder. If it's not going on the team where's it going? Paying Lawwell his £1m a year PLUS the same again as a bonus!
The feel good factor and isolation of the support is fast becoming reminiscent of the 90's, I just hope more fans wake up before we end up stuck in an accepted rut if mediocrity. Maybe I just expect too much mate.
Enjoy your beers Stevie :) Slainte.}

Stevie, poor chrisbhoy can handle himself perfectly well. And Ed knows that too. Thanks for your concern though. lol

Agree0 Disagree0

@. Stevie If we spent the £20-25m on say Buttner (LB), Capuano (CB), Johannsson (LW), Soriano (FW) + Finnbogason (FW) as well as keeping Forster, Lustig, Virgil, Matthews + Commons we'd be in a strong position to score goals, and defend against conceding them, in next seasons Champions League - giving us a fair crack at the Last 16, or Europa League at least!

@HB, it would be a major gamble to go out and spend that kind of cash on transfers with wages still to be added. We're not in a situation while playing in Scotland where we could afford to write off 20-25 million if the players you mentioned failed to deliver. In the EPL for instance they can take those risks because they know the following season they have a hefty pay cheque landing on their doorstep from Sly. I know it's all ifs, buts and maybes, but the way we are doing business at the moment is just about right for our environment although admittedly I would like to see the purse strings loosened a bit come the summer. A new manager who is tactically aware and can organise a team and make game changing decisions wouldn't go amiss either

Agree0 Disagree0

It wouldn't be a major gamble at all. Desmond was bumping his gums about his pride and how Celtic are the best performing club on and off the pitch in the UK, well if that's the case let's see him plough a few million of his billions in to the club! He'd make the millions back from his dividends and interest on savings/investments he has within the season!

Agree0 Disagree0

PS: That's only £6-11m more than we spent this season, however, it's on 5 players rather than 10 players who can't all make the starting XI - or even the bench!

Agree0 Disagree0

I also agree we do need a new manager though. Lennon's failed us massively, and I'll get shot down on that from the Celtic to the Core CSC because he beat Barcelona and got us to the CL Last 16 - but the hard solid facts are we've only won 5 (once the league's officially won) out of the 13 domestic trophies in his time at the club!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree that shopping in the 1.5 - 2 million price bracket more often than not produces players who are not Celtic standard, would rather sign one proven quality player than 3 maybes, but another problem we have is attracting that proven quality player to Scotland. I know what you mean about the Lennon can do no wrong brigade, I was shot down on here after I dared question his managerial skills after one of our many abysmal cup defeats a couple of seasons ago. DD will never throw major cash to strengthen as long as we're playing in Scotland, and I do agree with him that we're the best run club in Britain at the moment but that is fragile and has only been so because of CL qualification for last 2 years, if the standard of player coming in slips any further there will be no CL football to dig us out the hole we're currently falling into

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't fault much you've said there Stevie, although I don't agree with Desmond that we're the best run on the pitch! The selling model is correct, but the buying model doesn't reflect it as there's a lack of reinvestment!
