Watching Spain match and looking at Sardar Azmoun, imo, we didn't miss out on much. Granted The WC is harder than SPL.

Wind your neck in kev - we all have different opinions how we would like our transfer dealings to go. I personally would like to see early signings- no harm there. The earlier the better.

Agreed, if we got our squad together for the first qualifier then I’d be more relaxed about 2nd, 3rd and 4th game.

I just hope we are close to getting a few in.

Schar as a new CB would be great imo, Bamba on a free would be quality and I don’t know who I’d like for a new RB.

We’ve no chance of getting the Swiss lad in, he was good against Brazil, that means if we were interested we’ve left it to late as usual.

it might be with this being the first time the EPL transfer window closes 3 weeks before ours Brendan is using a bit of tactical nuance to get a bargain in a market he's more familiar with. So every bit possible we will wait till later to make some bigger signings from them or from abroad when the EPL wages are no longer on offer.

Flanagan would have been a good signing I think Kipre is a better CB option than Bamba.

From what I have seen of Schar whilst at Basel and more so through the Swiss side he definitely looks like a player that would improve us. With the rumours of us being after him it makes me wonder why we never done the deal before the World Cup. I seem to remember we were linked a month or so ago, but surely if he has a decent tournament we will find ourselves outbid financially with wages to a mid range prem
team especially for the relatively low buying price.

Quinn 1888 Remember the buying club usually cannot decide the date that the deal is made . In fact it is in both the selling club and the player himself, to hold back on deal for a while to see if they can get a deal that suits club or player better .
This definitely applies if we hope to buy at a relatively low price.

Are we going to be leaving it to the last minute again to get players in. i know we just got big Ed in, I hope they realise the transfer window in england closes two weeks into August. no Coming or going.

We've only been back pre-season training 2 days. Have confidence, belief and patience in BR and I'm sure we will be just fine.

Scoop am pretty sure you can still buy from England after their window closes.

Agree1 Disagree2

20 Jun 2018 19:10:47
I think the fact that the EPL transfer window closes early means that it will be easier to get players in for a few reasons.

1. Player's value will be more reasonable because clubs needing to sell will be inclined to sell at more reasonable prices once the EPL window closes.

2. EPL teams are only allowed to have a squad of 25 players, which means they will need to offload any excess or pay them despite not be able to play them.

3. There will be more loan options available from EPL teams once the window closes.

For these reasons, I can see us holding off on transfers until their window closes.

That being said we may be forced to buy now if Boyata, Lustig and Rogic have extended runs in the World Cup or we run the risk of having a weakened defence and lack of creativity in the CL qualifiers.

Good sensible post that RAW. We all want early deals but sometimes it just ain't possible. Crazy amount of factors to consider before any deals go through. There's mass panic at this time of year because the qualifiers come around so quickly but that is us back training and we have a squad more than capable of getting through the the first 2 qualifiers. Bain, Ajer, Rogic, Edouard all signed up and players are leaving. I'm more than happy with the window so far. With Leicester signing Maddison it won't be long before Ed has to deal with an onslaught of Paddy Roberts questions. Is he coming or not Ed 😆.

Some people need to settle a bit, the window has only been open 3 weeks. It is easier to buy reserve players than it is quality players BR has confirmed we are in negotiations with 4 players. These players might be at the world cup or they may be on holiday.
Maybe people would be happy just signing 7 or 8 players that are no better than what we have.

I know the window is just opened and we only need minor strengthening but no signings yet. Rosenborg won't be that easy. Come on Celtic.

No signings? What about the big bucks me just spent on French Eddy? A quality signing for sure. I agree we still need a couple more in though.

Open the post with I know the window has just opened up then moan about no new signings.

20 Jun 2018 22:47:42
If our squad needed major surgery I would be more anxious to make signings early but if we have everyone available we should be able to make a good attempt at qualification.

Yes there are areas I would like to strengthen but don't mind waiting if it means we get the right men in.

So I urge people to be patient and let's judge if we are stronger or weaker when the window closes.

Agree0 Disagree3

20 Jun 2018 19:13:49
Kev, I agree the Dandy Dons are probably lambs to the slaughter but personally while no lover of them would like to see the sheep not fold just to hear the EPL persons bleating. Looking forward to the Englanders World Cup Brexit as well as early as possible. Wool Britannia! ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - I'll be cheering on Aberdeen against the Pub League mob, JFP.}

20 Jun 2018 19:41:17
Ed 👍.

{Ed007's Note - How funny would it be if they could beat them :)

20 Jun 2018 22:21:23
I will be cheering on Aberdeen against Burnley, but they should do so much better than they actually do, do, is the problem McInnes,?, at least this time, the excuse of not having played many competitive games, because the season hasn't started, won't wash, as is same for both teams, McInnes will just have to get the players in a mindset, and convince them they are not playing The rangers, and pick the team and the tactics to show that the EPL teams are vastly overated, and get Aberdeen through to the next round.

20 Jun 2018 23:39:23
I'd love to see them get to the group stages and hibs a long with them. I think it would help Scottish football a great deal.

Why does everyone think burnley will beat Aberdeen. Aberdeen are a decent side and I think they will get past this round. They have nothing to lose as they are strong underdogs. So I think there will be a shock on the cards.
