Hooper .... lets face it he's likely to go sooner rather than later. We now need to get the best deal as possible and plan for replacements. Now all you English posters that are on here bashing Celtic, Hooper and Scottish football in in general. Lets face it Newcastle, Norwich, Swansea, Sunderland, etc etc... their games are only competitve as they are all fighting to stay in the league not ever challenge to win anything. Get a grip you may think the EPL is best in the world but these teams are not the contributing anything to that statement. Sure the top 6/8 teams are full of quality but thereafter its just very average teams at best that are below this. This year Celtic have achieved amazing success in qualifying for the last 16 CL. That shouldn't be overlooked in assessing the standard of Celtic. and also Hoopers contribution to the level they have reached. Celtic Bhoy

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Well said mate. Superb. The EPL is the most over hyped league in sport, not just football. I much prefer la liga. Let Hooper go.....for no less than £7m!

Davie Blantyre Bhoy.

Agree5 Disagree1

Celtic have done great this YEAR notice the year that's the only dig. And this is why EPL is great football but its turned to a money game down here and it's now more like a game for rich owners the teams you have said about are the teams that fight just like Celtic to have that felling and buzz if beating the top 6-8 and staying up anyone who not in the top 8 can get relegated. Norwich are half the club Celtic are but tell me how they can afford 30k a week more then 5k a week Celtic are offering hooper. Simple thing is there's so much money down here it's spoiling the game. So when you watch EPL don't watch the man utds Chelsea's and that watch the teams 8th and below a lot more entertaining and how the league should be. It's a lot harder and more of a fight each week for the lower teams then it is for you winning the league every year till rangers come back up. {Ed007's Note - I think I will stick to watching Man Utd, the games at the lower end of the EPL are dire, without Sly's razamataz who really wants to watch matches like Norwich v Stoke or Liverpool v Wigan?}

Agree4 Disagree1

Whats wrong with watching Liverpool? {Ed007's Note - Well you need to be an LFC fan for a start, I would rather have Freddy Krueger fit me with a urinary catheter.}

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree Ed. Teams pisitioned 8+ are pretty dire when playing against each other. It's the arogance of these teams that think they are bigger than they actually that is infuriating. These clubs are only in the EPL making up the numbers and are kidding themself on that they are anywhere close to the size of club Celtic are.Celtic Bhoy

Agree3 Disagree0

The reason norwich or any other team in epl can offer higher salaries is down to sly who feather the nests
of every team in that overrated league.Uefa, s team of the year consisted of eleven players from la liga, not one from epl, says it all
dosen, t it.jimbhoy {Ed007's Note - To be fair though some of the choices in that were a shocker.}

Just my opinion but I think if we are offered 7m + let hopper go now get Russell from Dundee utd .with stokes, lassad, watt, samaras, miku, bangura, we have enough in reserve .
Just my opinion. Hail hail

All this gossip with Hooper I think the guy has done great by us. We paid good money for him and he's never let us down. I live in Wales where everyone are supporters of English teams I hope he goes to a decent team gets in the England squad and lives up to his ambitions. He will go with my blessing as I don't think he has ever let us down

Awright Ed - Just wondering if you know how much the board has offered Hooper 25k or less. Ian L {Ed007's Note - The offer is in the top bracket Ian (£20k-£25k a week), I would say it would be round about double his current £12k a week with a scoring bonus to top it up. Money isn't, or ever has been, the issue.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Ed, Money is A L W A why S the issue!

Davie Blantyre Bhoy. {Ed007's Note -The only monetary issue is clubs paying what CFC want, it has been the exact same scenario since May when Hooper first told the club he wanted to move to the EPL. Money is not Hooper's motivation in wanting to leave.}

hi just feel that if an offer of 7 million comes in for hooper it wouldn't be the worste news in the world if he left. He has been tremendous for us but he wants away and I would rather cash in now. We could spend 4 million on a top replacement and I also think we should be taking a punt on russell who had been brilliant all season and his performance yesterday just proves he would be good enough for celtic. any thoughts on who we could buy as a replacement for 4 million?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Problem there is a £4m player wants a £4m players wage.Then you gotta get them to play up here.What we are doing is the way forward for our club, buy young, develop and sell at an optimum time for us.If we get a name for this young players will find us a very attractive option, and bigger spending clubs will always look to us knowing they are getting well coached young players with Euro experience. Result; Win-win for the Hoops.............green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree0

£7m would be utterly disastrous for such a player. Utterly disastrous considering the transfer fees charged the other side of an invisible border 90 miles down the M74.
Down there he's worth £10-£15m after three or four games with anyone. We need 40% of any English market mark up.

I would love us to gazumpt Juve and steal Llorente from under their noses.No chance it would happen but would make my day if it did.

Many Celtic fans, me included, feel as though we shouldn't go for championship players and should aim higher, I don't know why though? K.Wilson, Matthews, Ledley, Commons and Hooper all bought from championship sides and have been successes. {Ed007's Note - You have kind of contradicted yourself there.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Op I don't know why either ... if you find out could you let me know aswell

What a puzzling post?.........green jhedi

I think the bhoy was trying to convey his surprise at how well our free transfers have adapted to playing for a big club and performing in the CL!

Hope we are all "Raven" tomorrow as the Patriots are in the Superbowl and all that "Jazz" in New Orleans. GO PATS.....Timalloy

PS usually semi finals are sterile affairs but in NFL it is the last time home advantage can make a big difference. Watch the noise the fans make at Atlanta and at Boston roaring their teams to the Superbowl.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Looking forward to it mate, love the NFL. Got to put up with the Leader of the Opposition crying if the Pats win, that's her team.Under strict instructions to wake her in plenty time! Be tight but I think they might squeak it.........green jhedi

when are fans going to wake up and smell the coffee when it comes to hooper ...do you not realise hoopers form and goal scoring has only increased as the transfer window was due to open ?? he's not scoring goals for his love of celtic he's scoring because he's desperate to get a move back to england he wants to leave and if he is still here after the window closes he will be just as bad as he was at the start of the season ... Not a rumour but have to laugh at some of the comments on here from Celtic fans. Bid comes in for Hooper and suddenly he doesn't look interested, big Fraser is injured and suddenly he is getting sold. We don't need to sell unless it suits us. Hoops is still banging in goals and busting his a##e off. Fraser is injured, stop looking for something out of nothing.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Clubs no longer have the power they used to. Players (AGENTS!) go to the media to express their desire to leave and cause unrest and force clubs to let them go.

Site's called Celtic Rumours mate, the clue is in the name.

3.) Big Fraz maybe is injured, however you are obviously the sort who believes everything he is told. You probably think 9/11 was all the work of a wee bunch of terrorists!

After watching juve last night it's made me think we could get a heavy defeat over there were a decent team but juve are on a different level from us I did think we could beat them but in reality were getting put out of Europe what you fans think

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I honestly don't expect us to go through, but I never expected us to beat Barca. The first game is the key, if we can take something to defend who knows? Remember Italian fans are not known for their patience when their in a struggle, say we get a 2-0 and nip the first in Italy, makes it a different game entirely.We will have to back the team for 90 minutes at home and keep their concentration level high................green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree0

You never know Bhoys, Personally I think Juve will crumble at Parkhead if the Atmosphere is anything like the Barca game, I say us (the fans) are key to Celtic's progression, but hey if we're 0-2 at parkhead we'll still sing our hearts out, it's what we're all about and what we stand for, we love Celtic no matter what and the players know this, so when they hear the screams and roars walking out the tunnel, the inspiration from us is key, have faith bhoys Hail Hail. DaleBhoy1888

Agree4 Disagree1

My worry is its normally this stage in the competition before the big guns start performing the seeding in group stages gives the big guns an easy path ok their might be a few upsets and a few slip ups but the standard in last 16 seems to be different class .... cartoonheed

Agree0 Disagree0

Think a few maybe in for a surprise or shock bring on the juve ! Imo we beat the best passing team & all round team in the world, the greatest player ever imo they are that good they played the majority of the last 18 months with 1 out & out defender. We came out level over 2 legs nobody gave us a snowballs chance in hell, the old lady of Turin & Mr platini are going to get a proper welcome in glasgow's east end. The post we are out already shows you know f*ck all & I doubt you support the mighty Glasgow Celtic. Bring it on ! AbS

Agree2 Disagree1

I thought we could get a heavy defeat over there as soon as the draw was made, it didn't take till last night for any proof!! On the down side it's not points up for grabs and individual games, it's a 2 legged job and makes it harder!
BUT.... If we can take some sort of result over there then you never know,,
A decent result at Parkhead then makes it a one off game over there and you never know. I'm not going to predict what a decent result is, but hopefully Juve freeze when they come out to a cauldron of noise? Lol

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought I would just add hopefully a bit of common sense here, nobody gave us a chance against barca but the thing we had in our favour was the fact that barca always overplay the game unlike benfica for example who I thought were more dangerous as they play more like juventus and play fast passing game but more direct, really hope we can progress to next round, ps I've deliberatley held of taking my teenage daughter to her 1st celtic game until the right game for atmosphere etc so were going along on tuesday evening can't wait to see her face she seems more into it than her older brother did I've a feeling tuesday will see paradise jumping for some reason !!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it will be 2-0 to us at CP and either 1-0 defeat or 1-1 draw in Turin.Bring it on!

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

OP are you really a Celtic fan . We are going to get a heavy defeat . We're getting put out of Europe . I see you don't leave a name as usual . Listen we don't fear anybody . The bigger the club the better we play especially against the second most cheating club in football . No Celtic fan should admit defeat before any game no matter who we play . It's the Celtic way ........DH

Who are this record breaking team in Div 3 of Scottish football ?

Brand new yet using the strip of a former SPL team complete with 5 stars (not European trophies).

2nd largest wage bill in the whole of Scottish football yet get to play 10 part timers....in more games than not.

Now are the scorelines 10-0, 9-0 oh no, sometimes they have to share the points & they struggle through with wee 1-0 unconvincing win.

Never mind a wins a win after all !

The Rangers International FC:-

Final Score against 10 men world record attendance

Believable6 Unbelievable0

I watched most of their game today and it was bloody awful! It's clear to see why sally and green are flapping about reconstruction.Green cannot possibly increase season book prices for that standard of football. don't have a problem with the sending off, the player was a bit stupid and a bit unlucky, but it was handball...........green jhedi

GJ, I agree with OP, was watching some of game in pub with my ex bear pals (regular Sunday pint and meal) game was dire and when I brought up subject of sending offs, got the usual "paranoid" Tim etc.. but it must be highlighted, how many games has a team had a player sent off, or penalty against them or good goal chalked off?
Also as GJ says, we are trying to attract people, sponsors and yes Sly/ESPN but Rangers games are DIRE. Boring everyone away.Timalloy

Agree3 Disagree1

I can't recollect a single goal chopped off which should of stood.
Every penalty rangers have had has been justified.
9/10 of the red cards have been justified, todays includes.
Lee wallace rightfully has his recinded but I felt ian black was lucky to escape without one recently.

Do people actually watch the games, see the tired tackling, or simply get their knickers in a twist with stats?

Agree2 Disagree1

@3...one of the points being, Rangers are constantly playing against 10 men and scraping by just and no more.

The warnings are all there & lady luck will only take you so far!

in the pub last night, me and the guys were trying to come up with the best ever black celtic team . it wasn't as easy as you might think. warner,, tebily,, balde,, elliot,, camara,,
sylla,, ambrose,, wanyama,, n'guemo,,
larsson,, van hooidonk .. . did we miss anybody that would improve that team, shammy

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Emilio and kelvin Wilson. Didier, Petta.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agathe in for Tebily. Brafield although not a great loan spell, still far better player then Camara.
Petta in for N'guemo, maybe Fortune for Sylla? off the top of my head. Meastro8

Don't know the girls team, but heard one say she would be disappointed if big artur kept the sheets clean, also heard john collins stroking it about the middle, and something about big charlie knocking it into my box for sammy and hooperman to finish it off .. shammy

Heard a rumour before the game yesterday that Hooper was considering invoking the andy webster ruling in the summer should we not sell him. Was there not a high profile case in spain few seasons back?

Believable4 Unbelievable4

You can only buy out your contract if you are in the last year of a 4 year contract or have 2 left on a 5 year deal, Hooper has 18 months left so anything like this would have to wait til summer, technicalities aside, if he doesn't get his move this window he'll be happy to stay for 6 months, play last 16 and chase a treble and then leave in summer for £4/5 million.

G93

Agree0 Disagree2

Hearts only received 625k (includin legal expenses!), which was later reduced, with webster only having to pay £150k, and hearts valued him at £5million

Agree2 Disagree0

Don't think hat will happen. Hoops seems a decent guy and I am sure that if he doesn'T go in this window (and I hope he stays to be a legend like the king of kings....I think he IS/WILL be that good -never thought I would say that) he will stay till summer and still be totally committed to the Celtic! I heard he is changing agents soon, maybe his current agent just looking for one last pay day before he losses his top asset ?

Markiebhoy

Agree0 Disagree5

Aye but Its Andy Webster! That 5 million tag was when Mad Vlad was going through his crystal meth phase. They got what he was worth.

Agree2 Disagree0

Webster exploited employment emigration laws hooper would be going back to his own country not emigrating

Agree1 Disagree0

Doesnt matter if he is moving back to his home nation, only if the club he is moving to is in a different nation to the one he plays in.

Agree0 Disagree0

My take on it is a player still needs good cause to break his contract websters was he had been frozen out and denied a move their for preventing him from plying his trade before the buy out compensation came into it I might be wrong but am sure the player still needs to justify breaking his contract

Agree0 Disagree1

The just cause is giving the club 15 days notice prior to the last game of the season. Webster gave it 4 days late.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a thought. If Norwich are so desperate for hooper. Can't we be a bit cheeky and ask for 5 million and holt. Wasn't he the top scoring Englishman in last seasons prem.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Holt? This guy has been taking the pi** since signing his big deal last season. Still looks overweight and unfit to me and has also stopped scoring goals......green jhedi
