Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

I think Lennon must of read my post yesterday lol.
Progresion in Europe could hamper our league results . but this is were we want to be fighting on all fronts.
However for me it's 10 in a row all day long.
If we don't win 10 then it mean we have probably let a newly form club catch and over take us. in the position both clubs are in then that is just unthinkable.

Who smacked Lennon? he had a cut nose and two black eyes at the press conference.

The rags really can't help themselves. A video of Gardyne in an x rated video pops up on the internet and all of a sudden he's an ex celt. Always trying to drag us into negative press at any turn.

Is Patrick Roberts worth the prospective £15m City want? My brother says if celtic bought Paddy he would die happy man. I don't think we could afford to put him in the team for that? There is a glass ceiling and I think it's way over what we could or would afford. Anything up to 7m is our limit am presuming.

The price being talked about in the summer was only about half of that.

Man City can want what ever they want, when there is no possible trade for Paddy Roberts . If when the market opens and if Manchester City are anxious to buy, the clubs who have registered an interest will be made aware of the price required .
The rest of us can speculate until the cows come home and we will only be given a figure that suits both clubs .

inflated prices, 1 @ 15 mill or 2 or 3 players for that price? my choice: not at that price.

Ed is £15m the price that Man City are looking for it is that a figure plucked by the media? Can’t see how that figure is justified, due to his injuries his stock is lower than last season.

{Ed007's Note - The first I heard of it was reading this thread but if you look back the story originated on that $hitty HTC site or whatever it's called.}

I am sure the prices being banded around last summer was 6-8 million and the fact his contract will be a year shorter you would think that his transfer fee would be lower again.

I don't know how a price can double for a player who hasn't played all season; especially when you compare it to how Dembele seemed to depreciate in value since last season. However, whenever the EPL is concerned it's a farcical market when you look at how much obscene fees have been spent on real average players recently.

Celtic had a bid of 6.5m for Roberts knocked back last Summer.

I think we have to look at what we paid for Sinclair. I think it was around £4.5m, there is quality out there at similar value and don’t think paddy (although I highly rate him) is worth a gamble at £7m+.

Sevco MSM creating the conditions trying to price us out. Paddy 7 million with sell on if we were interested. It boils down to his willingness to leave MC?

Any figure you see, apart from coming from Celtic, is a figment of someone’s imagination. Taximan talk.

Neil Lennon assumption that celtic can be caught if they progress in europa Cup. There is probably a hint of truth in that. Could we be caught; yeah I think we could. Get passed Zenit your into last 8. What my question is to Ed and rest of hoops. What what you settle for? To reach another final potential winners or to rake up another title on way to 10? I might be against the majority but I think the 9 from the Lisbon lions should not be equalled. It was a special team that made two European finals and 4 semi finals! The league had strength. Scottish teams played in Europe and didn't fade. I would love another final and have our name on a Cup. What's everybodies opinion?

This ten in a row is is becoming a pain in the ass. Would i like to win it, of course, but it's not the be all and end all. Surely the progress of the Club is paramount? A Euro final would take precedence for me. I also add the feeling, personal, that i doubt very much if we would have a chance of doing it. outside forces and all that.

What will certain sections of the support be like? Jeeze a bad pass at Celtic Park is bad enough!

When we get the injured players back we have the squad to win the title if we progress in Europe. Even the players we have now won't lose this league. If we get 4 points off Rangers then its done.

Ten in a row . simples.

20 Feb 2018 13:43:03
Ten in a row without success or even progress in Europe is merely a reflection of how poor the opposition is in Scotland, rather of any improvement in Celtic.

No improvement since Brendan came in qualified 2 year in a row for cl previous 2 years didn't treble o my 4th in history unbeaten season already won first cup of this season come on aindo.

No club in the world has the league won, until it is mathematically impossible for them to be beaten . Celtic are no different . However there is no club other than Celtic who are capable of putting a run together to match Celtic, and then get 10 points more than Celtic in the last 11 matches .
Aberdeen Rangers and Hibs are all in the race for 2nd and it could be a tight race unless Rangers die around the middle of March .
However it's good to see Aberdeen and Hibs mount a decent and honest race for second position in league .

For me the league is a must win, if its 1 or 10 in a row that's the bread and butter and bragging rights, also that's not to say we can't do both and have a great run in the EL, maybe win/ final, and it might only come around once in your life time as a fan. enjoy the journey, taste the win, let it dance on your palate. and as they say here for a good time not a long time. i need to stay off those tablets. hail hail. let's do the ruskies first.

20 Feb 2018 15:35:44
That's not what I said, we could win a hundred in a row, if there is no decent opposition in Scotland, is only in European competitions, that you can guage any real improvement, of course there has been improvement under Brendan, but the real barometer of improvement is Europe.

{Ed007's Note - Sorry, Aindoh but just to rewind a bit, where did Neil Lennon say Celtic can be caught if we progress in Europe?

"The league is a lot more competitive this season. I still expect Celtic to go on and win it comfortably but if they’ve got one eye on Europe there may be an opportunity to make inroads. However, it’s going to take a hell of a run for somebody to put a shoulder on Celtic."

I take it that was twisted into a headline that Lennon said Celtic can be caught?}

The only way our club can continue to progress is if we get to the group stages of the CL because the financial reward is so great.

With this in mind, the answer to the question would I prefer to:

a) lose league and get to Europa League final

or

b) not reach the final but retain the league and maintain the chance of 10 in a row.

I would go for option (b) because if we don't win the league we don't get CL football, unless we won the final. Not only that I would prefer 10 in a row to winning the Europa League. If we were not going for 10 in a row I would be torn because although I want the team to progress, the Seville season was probably the most amazing season I have experienced, despite not winning anything that year.

Anyway, the answer is moot because it is highly unlikely we would get to the final as there are much better teams than us still left in the competition.

{Ed007's Note - No it's fine mate, I hijacked your post but I just wanted to get that in there.}

If we take care of becoming a team that can qualify and play well in the cl group stages, then the spfl will be an even easier proposition than it was last season. Euro success guarantees home domination. If we can cope there we are miles ahead.
