Didn't Ronny Deila say he wanted an artificial pitch and was slated for it?

Caant remember, but your point is?

Yes he wanted that and a dome over the pitch at Lennoxtown. God bless Ronnie, he was a good guy but not developed enough for us. Being an old firm manager is an experience you will only get in Scotland. You need to be made of some stuff to make it work. We all know, you lose 2 games in a row and it's a major crisis, and the games you win you need to win well. So it came too early for Ronnie, too big a step up. Brendan will get it done and I think with the control he has at the club and supported by DD, he will be with us for a good few years, let's hope so.

The Desso pitch BR wants isn't a fully plastic one. It's a combination of synthetic fibres that are 'injected' deep into the ground and real grass. Players who play on it say it's very good. HH.

I might be wrong but im sure i read that most desso pitches are only 3% artificial. Doesn't seem much to me.

{Ed007's Note - I had a day off yesterday but reading a bit about these Desso pitches it looks like the artificial fibres are put into the ground and then intertwine with growing grass to anchor the grass blades into the surface

Ronnie was a puppet, I think he tried but was happy to walk.

I've just watched the Motherwell highlights, it's already been said but that challenge on KT was horrific. Studs up, above the knee absolute shocker.

Can you imagine the uproar if broony had dished one of those out?

What's your opinion on this hybrid pitch? Do you think it will be put in at the end of the season?

Hopefully if it's going to improve the pace of the game. Before the injury argument pops up - myth. "Deila Dome" seemed like a pipe dream but I'm thinking BR will get an investment like that sorted no bother.

You'd think there would be a decent length bedding in period for it but hopefully there would be enough time before the season starts.

What about the health risks as highlighted in that research from America about some of these artificial surfaces containing carcinogenic materials, health is more important than having a smooth playing surface.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - they can be avoided by the use of materials other than rubber, such as cork. Though it is more expensive it is safer.}

RD wanted the training ground to have a full size indoor facility asbwell and BR has also made it known that he thinks it would be hugely beneficial so we are in process of making it happen. Exciting times.

Wembley has one. It's supposed to be a fantastic playing surface. Some interesting utube videos of it. Cost is approximately 250k. HH.

murrayfield has one too, i blame auld lizzie, since she stepped on the pitch at the commonwealth games shes cursed it, and the ghost of the great michael davitt who layed the first sod of donegal turf won't let the pitch grow because she stood on it.

Ok, Ed, didn't know about that, but as that research has been going on for years it would make sense that they have looked into alternatives to use instead of the rubber, but as recycling old tyres is quite well established, and I assume very profitable to use the byproduct to make playing surfaces, I hope they don't put money before health.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed. In my opinion the use of rubber should be banned.}

Is it Hybrid they put in at Ross County over the summer. That midweek game there was very impressed with the surface best i have seen in the SPL.

Agree with you on that, Ed, although I suppose that would mean ripping up all the surfaces that are already laid, and replacing them with safer one, .

I know Wembley was done in 2010 but here's what was said.

The cost – £250,000 – is peanuts compared to the £750 million spent on building the stadium and will be well worth it if it stands up to the number of sporting and musical events staged at the venue. The informed word is that the pitch should continue to improve as the roots of the natural grass further entwine with the artificial fibres.
