Haven't posted before and expect to get some peters for this. Are the senior people at Celtic more focused on personal bonuses than improving the team? I feared when rangers died Celtic would revert to form and become complacent again. So far it looks like they have. Sales of season tickets are falling (especially in the executive areas where the service is like in a community hall at 5 star restaurant prices - I know for a fact of 2 groups that are not renewing for this reason which amounts to nearly £25k alone). Failing to make an effort in recent years is costing the club money through falling season tickets, lost leagues, lost cups and lost revenue from Europe. Walter Smith's last 3 in a row with a poor squad was awful, and Celtic nearly blew it before Christmas last year and only rangers utter implosion saved us, lets not kid ourselves. This summer sums it up- do nothing, hope for the best and if we get humiliated again in qualifying cut back even more. Books need to be balanced and rangers offer an example of what can happen if financial management is foolish, but our downward fall is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy led from the top. If we make the CL it will be on the back of an extremely kind draw. Sorry, but this has come from years of frustration.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

1. Celtic did not win the league because of rangers 'utter implosion', we won it because we were the better team with much more points.

2. WS did not have a poor team, a poor team compared to who ? Certainly not any other team in the SPL. Jelavic and Lafferty cost over £7m. We had Hooper and Stokes and £3m

3. Season tickets sales have fallen, have they ?

4. Celtic 'revert' to form. Their singing policy has been very clear for a good few season and has not changed this season. We do need a CB but have the SPL's top goal scorer in our team.

5. On the back of a very kind draw...explain ?

Think you'll find Celtic have won awards for executive matchday hospitality so hardly see the service being as bad as you say.

"Sales of season tickets are falling (especially in the executive areas where the service is like in a community hall at 5 star restaurant prices - I know for a fact of 2 groups that are not renewing for this reason which amounts to nearly £25k alone)"

for a start, these aren't season tickets, they're corporate boxes, bought by sponsors and companies. i also know 2 companies who haven't renewed due to the financial climate, but i also know of 3 who have bought in for the first time....these areas will ALWAYS be sold.
i can only assume you've either not been to any of the lounges, or are just used to an unbelievably high level of service if you think that they offer "community hall" service....i'm lucky enough to have been to countless match day events, weddings, birthday parties, and general nights out in all of the suites, and on every occasion i have experienced first class service and hospitality on a par with high class restaraunts and hotels throughout the world.

the club, it's shareholders, have entrusted the current board to lead the way forward, ensuring we never go down the road of financial ruin.....Lawell and co knew we had to get ourselves sorted out before the FFFP rules come into force, and we made an early start on this and have been following Ajax's ideology of unearthing raw talent and selling on for maximum profit a few years later....there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, we are a scottish club, playing in a poorly rated league with virtually no external income.....you tell us what your plan is? cos i know who i trust, and it aint pub talk, financial wizard, know-it-alls who leave no name!

Sorry, but this has come from years of exasperation

I must say, my bro in law is a director with Caley. He used to suport rangers and still has a soft spot for them. He has been to hospitality to every team in the SPL, and he told me celtics was on a different level to any other...and believe me it was hard for him to say. So it must be pretty good. Markiebhoy.

Peter Lawwell, the best chief executive EVER to have been in charge of a Scottish club has never took any bonuses from Celtic. That's the difference between a club like ours and the zombies. To every single Sevco fan that visits this site, let me say one simple thing. Every single fibre of your being is JEALOUS. Wouldn't you LOVE to be in the position of sitting with 2 away goals waiting on the home leg? Any Zombie that says no is a LIAR. Your grandchildren will be Celtic fans.

I'd love to see Celtic sign a player like Everton's Fellaini .

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I think our days of signing big pricey players are over, were a big fish in a small pond bud. we cant even compete with southampton , if rumours are correct ramires for nearly 12 m. ramirez is quoted as saying he will sign for them cause of the amount of money they are giving him. we will never sign a player for half that amount ,we dont need too..............bhoywonder.

Aye me tae after that performance last night he'll cost £20 mill and i would expect him (if he leaves everton) to go to a top club

evenin ed marty bhoy here hows you?
just to get my tuppence worth in didnt the centre half from bolton I think gary cahill not sign for chelsea for something like 7/8 mil? only because he was just starting the last year of a contract that was never gonna be extended?
so on that basis 6 mil or there abouts is great business for the tic, again what should celtic have done let him run down his contract?
no way (hopefully my facts are right but dont shoot me if wrong guys!)
hows the leg ed bearing up sorry about the pun!
ps have you seen wee pat? or is he missing in action again? {Ed007's Note - I'm good thanks Marty, I hope you are well too. You are spot on about Cahill. Wee Pat has posted elsewhere tonight.}

Whats the deal with lennons statement just basically saying we're struggling with debt now that rangers fans have been saying to us watch what you wish for now Lennon has said that the ki money will help keep club afloat ? Wtf I'm bewildered now how can 7m worth a debt be so bad for a club our size so much for the old statement saying we need to sell to buy now were selling and not buying I'm wee bit angered with all this bullsh"" from our board ?

Chrissybhoy

Believable3 Unbelievable3

For once im actually with the club on this one, I've always accused us of underspending but I really believe this time there isn't a lot of money there & it would be foolish to spend when we're guaranteed league for next few years anyway, agree we do need a ch & cf but get Rhodes etc out our heads it ain't gonna happen, don't need to look to far to see what overspending does do we? L1888

Agree6 Disagree1

Look why are we getting 7 million for ki ?, answer because we invested in potential, if we stop buying potential we stagnate team wont move forward, fans will lose interest, simples

Agree2 Disagree2

Well as it stands the CL money isnt for sure 120min will see if we can make the '10-15m' from CL group stages...

ki is a squad player for me,if it was between him and mccourt then mccourt then ki for me would be sold but hey.ki is good but like a man down when the team needs to dig in.ki wont be a big lost i dont think remember how big our wage bill is (think its around 34m PA) with no old firm games then we either need to sell players or make it to the CL.think we could hold out for more hence why swansea want the deal done in 24hours as i think others would start sniffing around.

out of our midfield im kind of glad it ki going and not ledley/brown/forrest etc

if we dont get a run in europe after christmas then it would be pointless signing a player on a big wage packet as its only the spl they would be playing in,bring up watt and a few others and just let rip.

also this talk of rhodes its all pee pee, again rayman on here made a cracking point why sign him for 6m or whatever when tony watt plays for us

sorry for the long post ed its been a while lol

lenny

Agree2 Disagree0

I think nl and club are just keeping on the down low so as to not top there hand with any signings, think there might be some pipeline deals. We have to remember it is a new era for all spl and we should keep supporting as normal, it is just the start of the season and I'm sure they don't want to do any bad deals and be stuck with it all season. As well if we do use it to pay our debt then just think of the future because Im sure the coefficient points are low in the next few season and would be harder on us to get into cl, so maybe we would spend more next years to get in. But that's just on idea, I do think they are going to do something to keep fans excited with a signing and I still think that it is Rhodes, no matter how far off that may be with $ but that could be the pipeline deal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Quite agree, why should we go spending money stupidly, I thought ki was ok but would not be my 1st pick every week, its annoying but just imagine being an arsenal supporter just now, that would be worse. jj

Scared to ask on the other site in case I'm accused of HATE or obsession but how many over-21's do TRFC have registered ? If they exceed 22 , are the extra players deemed ineligible ? What sanctions are available to SFL (stripping of points , etc.)? I wouldn't know where to find the answers so hope you can help Ed .

Paddy Malarkey {Ed007's Note - Sorry it took so long mate. The newco have registered 17 players that are 21 or over. If any team has more than 22 players 21 or over they can still only register the 22. Fielding an illegible player may result in a points deduction and the club liable to other punishments as the board may decide.}

Lennon has jist come out and claimed e doesnt expect to get any money from ki sale. Whats that all about, what happened to the money we were told was there without having to sell players. Looks like the board are taking us fans for a sale. Get your finger out lawell, we fans know there is money there, you cant pull the wool over our eyes

hopefully not true but lenny saying on TV that fee for ki will be used 2 service clubs debt we can all c that we need a couple of cbs and a striker so mr lawwell loosen the purse strings

Believable2 Unbelievable6

After listening& seeing lennons body language, its pretty clear the board are looking longterm at the financial side of the debt(rumoured £15million),they will be hoping we make the champions league& that would cover it,then we have the £5or6million fo ki,s sale& mabe the same if wayama goes,so surely a decent central defender& a striker should be a MUST!ohhh & a.thompson..j.thomson..mcgin,,ki,,cha..rasmussen,loovens,cervi,,majstoorvic,wilson,o'dea,,juarez all offf the wage bill..so we will see how the board react if we make the champs league....stevo

ED i really don't know if there is any truth in this but i overheard it in a pub, so i suppose it is a rumour. apparently the rangers ,sevco are planning to break from tradition. and are actually going to pay tax this year.. sounds a bit far fetched to me but i just thought i'd let you know ..shamrock

Agree2 Disagree0

Think you all should stop worrying about other teams. Just heard you are selling players to pay your clubs debt. No revenue from old firm games for a while, reduced TV money, the whole spl fan count on Saturday was less than that at Ibrox . You all voted out one of the biggest players in scottish football out so now you will pay the consequences. (for your information I do not follow rangers or celtic , but am involved in cross community football at junior level in N. Ireland. While Rangers needed to be punished , cutting your own noses off to spite your face was stupid. I would have taken every penny profit they made by putting in independant management (not administrators) paid off all their debts inc. HMRC, prosecuted the owners , players, managers and anyone else who was invoilved, and if required jailed them.
That way most clubs would be in a better finiancial situation. Please don't tell me you will all be as well off as last year. The only teams to benefit will be sfl3 and ironically , due to your idiotic decisions rangers/the rangers /sevco ar whatever you want to call them

Notice 2 (un-named) posts on Rumour Site re: Ki to Swansea for £5m + Dobbie? I hope this is Bumph as we can get a higher offer without a mediocre player.
If it's true; Surely the board don't expect the supporters to be happy with it?
Rhodes and Russell would go along way to solve the recurring, frustrations of missed chances in a lot of our games and give the team a huge lift.
A centre back is another requirement, however -
Stokes, Murphy and Bangura or A N Other could be sold or used to part-fund any deal plus the Ki money.....
