Google translation from a Spanish sports website:

The player is in Glasgow
Mess with Lassad, Celtic and Levante expect his signing

Although the Levant has confirmed that it is committed for two years with the Tunisian Lassad, Celtic Glasgow has announced that is waiting to sign him.

Valencian club sources said the deal with the player's agent is already closed and the agent sent an email to the club on Friday night in which they reported that the operation could advertise.

As usual, the commitment to the player is going to sign after passing the medical examination, said the sources, who also said the club was aware of the possibility of playing in the Celtic Lassad by the media.

The Levante have evidence that the player is in Glasgow, but also that the player has signed for Scottish club.

"Lassad Aklil is representative for seven years. We spoke to him and is the first to be surprised by what happens. We await events," the communications director for the club, Alberto Gil.

He noted that before the signing was announced, Levante sporting director, Manolo Salvador, had spoken to the player and the player who was told to talk to Aklil to close.

"If this matter is complicated and the club is harmed, the Levante take legal steps to resolve it," he added.

Celtic Sources said after Saturday's league match they know there has been talk that the player could go to Levante, but may indicate that awaits you at the Scottish club.

A Celtic technicians liked the player for some time and stressed their good performance at Deportivo in the last two seasons. "It will give a different dimension to the team," he added.

That clears that one up then!?

Seen this on The Rangers page..oh the irony:-

bbc radio scotland top discussion rangers again. just shows you bears the scottish game needs us more than we need them. our signing of temps seems to have shocked them all as most spl clubs did not have finance to buy anyone and hearts needed to sell to pay tax bill. in the 3rd division no european football and still the BIGGEST club in scotland WATP

Mrs E

Believable13 Unbelievable2

How ignorant are they.... they can only sign players as they have f****d every creditor they owe. Ran away from any responsibilty and claimed their "fans don't deserve this". The SFA has let them rejoin the league, unopposed, the transfer ban is a complete joke and to top it all off they can sign players from SPL clubs they haven't even finished paying from a year before!

Only in Scotland could zombies moan so loud!

DazzaBhoy

Agree14 Disagree2

I just couldn't believe the red neck of 'slagging' off an SPL club for needing to sell a player to pay a tax bill & talking about their finances.

Surely having a laugh with their post. Mrs E

Agree12 Disagree2

Where did he "slag" Hearts off about the tax bill? He stated facts that Hearts were desperate for the money! And I'm guessing the player we havent finished paying for is Wallace? Well the next payment isn't due yet so why should we pay till it is? Hatred just seeps out some of you guys!
Anythin to say about your teams poor performance today or Lennons tactics?? Didn't think so! Still obsessed I see.

Gavla if you don't understand the irony in the post them I'm not going to explain it.

I've already commented on today's result on the front page.

Obsessed with what exactly ? One of the biggest clubs in Scotland's demise is a major talking point, shock horror..lets call it an obsession make ourselves feel better when they say things we don't like. Boo hoo ~ Mrs E

Hay bhoys and ghirls. Abit disappointed with the result altho if we had our first 11 I think we would of destroyed Hibs. But it is great to see the young guys playing. Big Vic was a huge lost. Are we still go to sign a free agent?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

In first half shoud have been about 4 nil up..Thank god we have signed a big centre forward,as the amount off crosses we make& no one too finish them off is unreal, sloppy second half performance, but we will get far better as the season progresses, the passing& movement needs too improve& hooper needs to get his act together..stevo

Let's not be critical folks.
If PL and Lenny could afford Messi and Iniesta then they'd try to buy them. But they can't and they are cutting their cloth accordingly. Do we want to be the next Leeds, Portsmouth or Rangers?
We are where we are in the grand scheme of transfer money so let's support the club and those who wear our famous colours.
Alternatively, those who still feel the club's efforts are still not enough should club together and raise the millions needed to buy the players you apparently think should be playing at Paradise.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - Does buying tickets for matches not count as clubbing together Chris?}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

No ED it doesn't. Sad but true. Some guy needs to make sensible financial decisions and PL is doing a great job. HH

Shuggy {Ed007's Note - I have never said PL isn't doing a great job. Clubbing together means a group of people gives money so that all the money collected can be used to buy something. Season tickets should cover that without telling people to give more money if they want players that will improve the squad long term.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It does Ed.....but expectations have to be mabaged. Just because we buy tickets doesn't mean our wishes should be limitless. Do you Ed think the club should have done more in this transfer window?

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - Yeah Chris I think they could and should have done better. I am not meaning anything stupid like a £20 million spending spree. I am looking forward to seeing Ambrose playing so I think we done OK there, but Boly could also have been brought in. I would have liked to have seen them push the boat out a bit with Henriksen, the club dragged it's heels too long and the player moved elsewhere. Miku is a decent enough player but he is only going to be here for a season I suspect I would rather have seen someone bought outright, we would win the SPL without him and we should be giving the CL experience to a player we KNOW that we are going to get the benefit of. There was the chance of signing Johnny Russell, he would have been more fitting with the signing policy of the last few years and would have gave the fans a nice lift as a lot of them wanted Russell signed up. Nineteen players left us during the summer, either on loan or permanently and although we needed to trim the squad size I expected some quality brought in rather than quality. We shaved over £90k a week off the wage bill (just under £5 million p.a.), we sold Ki, have qualified for the CL group stages and have ST money on top of that, surely spending say £5 million on 3/4 players isn't asking too much?}

Agree1 Disagree0

Ok so celtic started last season in 9 million debt and broke even without champion league this year they reduced the wage bill qualified for champions league and sold ki for 6 million and your saying they cant afford a player ?? get a grip

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree we have a great squad,
Forster did look like he needed a rest at times last year....new keeper comes in!
Needed a CB in comes Ambrose, who looks like a decent defender.
Got a striker.......maybe 2 (Miku, Lassad)
plus we have the NextGen kids coming through.

McGeough looked class against Real, until that injury. Watt has looked class up front, maybe he didn't score in the game against Helsinki, but he was in the right position to get chances. We are in the group stages, and were not using money we dont have. Were putting money by for "rainy days". Unlike our deceased neighbours did.

Barcelona are the only club to come to CP on Champions League games and take three points. When we had GS in charge, a weaker team, than we have now, managed to beat Man United and AC Milan

All's rosey in the Celtic garden....The future bright.. it's Green and White! Hail Hail

maybe just being suspicious..but can only see these young players signing for the dark side if they have been promised top flight football next year...JohnnyG..another stitch up I feel

Believable3 Unbelievable3

They would not be allowed into a new top tier without a points deduction of at least 25 for two years, to make up for missing out the 2nd and 1st divisions they would have to go through to get there on merit.so i wouldn't worry about that one.. shamrock

Ed great work all day yesterday though I'm sure your grateful that our transfer day wasn't as busy as most fans expected else you'd have been run off your feet.

I for one am rather disappointed in yesterday's window. In the current state of affairs I feel we should be targetting young Scottish talent in order that we now assist in the rejuvenation of the Scottish national team and Scottish game as a whole. Russell, McKay-Stevens and Fyvie (signed on a free to the prem I know) the Scottish game is on its knees at the moment and anyone saying they are happy with the product currently on show at CP or anywhere else in the country are seriously easy to please.

We needed a commanding centre half and a big physical striker, folk on here are saying we've got that, really?? We know this because of some clips on YouTube?

We're an accepting bunch of supporters and probably more so now due to lack of real competition in the league. Strategy number one of success - always strengthen from a position of power!!! Rant over haha.

Big Giv

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Who would you have liked to have signed Giv ?

We do have a crop of young Scottish players at Celtic and buying up every Scottish player in other teams is not the answer. They would not all get game time, Celtic & Rangers have been criticised for this is the past. Take Templeton for example...we have Samaras and Commons on healthy wages who you could say are left wingers, do we need another one for the sake of it ?

Even with the potential £20m income this season, we cannot compete at the levels of EPL or La Liga, that's pocket money to them. Its not just the transfer fee of a 'big name' its the wages.

As with every club, time will tell if the signings are worth it. Mrs E

What is it with some Celtic fans r they ever happy we said we needed a cb and a cf and we got them give the guys a chance ffs and to all those saying spend 5mil on players whos to say players costing that much would play in Scotland and if they would what type of wage would they want and as for templeton is he better than what we have or do u just want to sign players to stop rangers getting then we need to get a grip n support the team and for those saying they won't renew there ticket or go back then good ur no wanted we need real fans to support the team

BHOYS. As much as I'd love big names we need to service the debt first. No choice. It's the times we live in. Let's not lose our heads. PL does a good job , look around at who everyone else has before slating him. I seem to remember Ferguson getting the same - where would we be without his prudence now. Dead and buried that's where. Let's cheer the BHOYS thru. Hail hail

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I, for one, am happy we didn't go ape buying foreigners. Some of my happiest Celtic moments have came when young players come good..... Maloney scoring against "them".... Marshall saving Ronaldinho's penalty.... Fraser clearing crosses against Rennes... Watt scoring against Motherwell, ICT.... McGeady running at Ricksen.....Forrest terrorising Papac.....

The debt is 9 million we got 6 million from ki and pos 15 from champions league all we are asking is buying a striker of our own not a loan that will need replaced next year ... it will be interesting to see what happens to the debt because i dont believe all that money will stay in the club

Banter section

Supposedly we're in for a striker.

If it isn't Del Piero as rumoured (and may still be) what would you think of Eidur Gudjohnsen? Not an out and out striker but IMO would definitely add a lot to the team. He's been all over Europe, still a class act at AEK and at 33 could still do a turn for a couple of years. I also reckon he'd give the fans a lift. We're in the free agent market given deadline day passed, and given we've had Neil Lennon confirm interest in Del Piero we may be looking at a bit of experience besides profit and we're supposedly working on a player by Monday's CL deadline. This is my best guess besides a second go for Del Piero or some obscure hidden gem.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Del Piero. More about his game. We have the wee nippy strikers - we need an all rounder. Del Piero is the complete striker - intelligent, great technically, good in the air, natural goalscorer. Obviously will lack pace at 37 but we wouldn't be bringing him in for that.

But alas he's off to Australia. I reckon he'd have added a lot to the team outside being a legendary striker as he's been there and done it throughout his career but probably too much in wages for us to afford and hell offer me a job here or Australia and I know where I'm going.

Ok maybe he's not off to Australia - plenty of news reports saying it's not a done deal. Get him signed!

Not just a twitter rumour - have seen news reports. The club announced it as a done deal before the contract was finalised and personal terms agreed.

From what I gather, basically he picked Sydney as his number 1 choice and spoke to them first so the club announced the signing before a contract was agreed.

Amateurish if you ask me. Still not sure it'll happen as Braga (also in CL, better climate, better league, more money flying around, less of a language barrier) and Southampton (money, EPL) but I'd take the guy at Celtic in a heartbeat.
