Happy new year ed. hope you and everyone has a happy and healthy 2020.
Just thinking if we did get big vic and this new striker, with a fully fit squad what is your and everyone's starting 11.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year mate. I don't think we'll see Wanyama at Celtic but if he did come and Lennon sticks with 4-2-3-1 it's really only Brown's place I can see him taking.

----------------Forster-----------
-Elhamed---Ajer-----Jullien-----?--
-------Wanyama----McGregor-----
-Forrest------Christie-----Elyounoussi--
---------------Edouard-------

I'm not really convinced by any of our LBs and if Taylor isn't going to get a chance I'd send him out on loan and bring in someone else - I think the jersey is weighing Bolingoli down and the fans reaction to him during games isn't helping him, every misplaced pass etc is met with groans and pelters and that does get to players.
I chose Elhamed over Frimpong because I think he's a better defender than the youngster and defenders need to defend first imo. I did consider playing Frimpong at RW but even though Forrest is playing nowhere near the level he showed last year and dominating games he is still producing big time in the goals and assists department.}

01 Jan 2020 21:22:09
Yes agreed on elhamd and elyounoussi, when both are fully fit they are massive for us.
Forrest splits the support and I like him but I would give frimpong a shot out wide.
I think the squad is gd but a new midfielder opens our options up massively. if not vic we have to bring someone in.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

01 Jan 2020 23:33:44
Spot on Ed. I think it’s quality in the middle that we need most. I also think that we need to defend first and foremost I. e. Elhamed. Imagine having Forrest starting with Frimalimadingdong coming on to burst a defenders Skull.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've got quality in the middle in Callum McGregor who should be dictating the tempo and controlling our game and not Brown who offers very little in the way of setting up attacks. McGregor showed when Brown was injured that he can play as a deep lying playmaker.}

01 Jan 2020 23:48:30
Ed think Lennon’s fav formation 3-5-2

So if Wanyama did come in I could see this
Forster
Elhamed Ajer Jullien.

Forrest Wanyama. Brown Hayes

McGregor
Edouard. Christie.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 3-5-2 is too easy to counter against if you have pacy wingers and fullbacks who can chase long (diagonal} balls into the corners.}

02 Jan 2020 10:57:07
It’s more attack minded and it gives u three in the middle of the park for a more stability gives u strong central shape with two strikers to operate up top bit old fashioned but l like the 2 up top the target man and poacher.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 12:13:09
I know Broony took some flak after the game from some of the support and media; but, he was once again left with far too much to do between the inability and unwillingness of others to work harder or rise to the physical challenge in front of them.
We currently have too many lightweight ball-players who go missing in 'battles' or tight marking and we end up outfought and outnumbered.
The manager failed to address it after the Hamden game and even with Elyannoussi and El Hamed back, I can see it happening again at Ibrox.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's not just in games against them though, in every game Brown is controlling the tempo we play at and it's slow and lethargic - even Ajer drives the team forward more than Brown - and he doesn't have the passing range McGregor does.
I'm not saying we should drop Brown but we should change our style of play so that McGregor is pulling the strings from midfield.
As I said above I don't like the 3-5-2 but in a 4-3-3 we could have Brown doing the defensive/holding job with McGregor playing as a deep-lying playmaker and Christie/Ntcham doing the box-to-box job.
Our tactics doesn't allow McGregor to influence the game and that needs to change imo.}

02 Jan 2020 21:56:27
Remember when Brown was out we had Calmac and Christie in the holding roles and the team looked sharper and more potent? Brown came back and it slowed. Never have Ntcham and Brown together as the pace slows to a funeral march and you've lost any needed momentum. Though having Christie in the holding role you lose his energy and drive, but, it can still be used when the team is in the final third. If Christie's role is as a No 10 then big Ajer can take over from Brown and bring another central defender in.

03 Jan 2020 19:31:58
McGregor isn't fully utilised in the system we play. He's got so much more to offer.

01 Jan 2020 20:20:23
When we signed him I had hoped Bayo was going to be a decent player but he really has shown pretty much nothing so far, a glimpse or two maybe.
I can categorically say right now that if we had a choice of say Bayo or big Sam Cosgrove I'd take Cosgrove in a heartbeat.
40 goals in the last year and puts himself about, seen him last season giving the Burnley defence as well as ours and Sevco a hard time most of the time, I've seen many people on here say he isn't good enough. I disagree as a squad player and something different to what we have I reckon he would be more than capable.

Sometimes just what you need is right under your nose, it may not be popular, but id agree royjac73. Its a gamble well worth taking.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jan 2020 23:09:41
Cosgrove? You've got to be at it? He's a lump a wid that is constantly fouling and elbowing, he'll get sent off for us every game. If that's the level some people are serious about wanting then I despair. I expected some rashness opinion wise after losing to them but Cosgrove is not good enough for us.

02 Jan 2020 00:27:19
Caese you obviously haven't read my post properly then eh haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 01:02:43
The sheep think McKenna is worth 10m. Imagine what they would want for Cosgrove 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 01:55:45
Big Sutton was a lump o' wid, turned out nice. Look, im well aware he's not the preferred choice, but i think its worth the gamble. Only an opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 10:00:06
I’d rather have Cosgrove than Bayo but Edouard and Griff would be ahead of him for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 10:55:17
Big Sutton was a lump a wid bhampot? your having a laugh aren’t u? your comparing big Sutton with cosgrove! Big Sutton was outstanding for Norwich and Blackburn and had a bad time at Chelsea because their style of play never really suited him. cosgrove is doing well at Aberdeen but he’s nowhere near what we need!

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 12:17:11
Big Eddy is a touch-player who tries hard to hold the ball, but is often outnumbered and dispossessed, because of sheer numbers and no Celtic players close enough to play off his touches?
Griff is finished IMO and Bayo is a non starter, so we could actually do with two front men to freshen things up; a poacher and a big man.

Happy New Year everybody!

Obviously understand how important it is to beat rangers at every opportunity, no matter what. But think people hitting the “panic” buttons too quickly.

Yep outplayed twice, but we are a counter-attacking team now that just doesn’t dominate possession against ANY opponent like Rodgers teams did. The same way Lennys Hibs team was. Yes we need a new striker to give eddy some help up front, love Griffiths but just not sure it’s working out for him.

But when we spanked rangers they went and got Kent the next day. People moan about Lawell but he actually does a good job, give them a chance to sort it in January. We needed players anyway regardless of this result as the squad has been pushed to its depths recently and really were still well in the race.

If Celtic sing Wanyama in Jan and that is a big if, like rangers did Kent after getting shafted, in the long term it could be the best thing too happen. But it could happen, he’s nowhere near spurs team so even 6 month loan is possible. Even if not Wanyama some lesser known but quality players could come in, we know players are coming in, Lenny said so himself.

What happened to the Tims keeping the faith!
Hail hail and happy New Year.

Let’s stay positive nothings lost yet!

I feel for Ed007 every transfer window. The garbage he must see reading the posts would be mind numbing but no doubt there will be plenty that will give him a good laugh. Heres hoping we get 2or 3 in and get rid of the deadwood in the squad.

But but but look at his wage JFP.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jan 2020 15:36:29
Do I detect some sarcasm there kev 🤣🤣 to be fair lawells wages are a disgrace in Scottish football terms!

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jan 2020 15:47:32
why are we possibly about to spend 6 mill aprox on a guy who was outscoring bayo in the same league at same time, .

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jan 2020 17:58:16
Danny the are not a disgrace in business terms though. A company with a 100 million turn over it's pretty standard.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Lawwell is paid £1 million more the the CEO of the Pub League and about £500k less than Ed Woodward at Man Utd - after he was given a 60% pay hike last year - who have a turnover of £627 million.
Lawwell's salary is pretty far from standard, Kev, he's taking home 3.5% of the entire business turnover and is one of the best paid CEOs in British - and probably European - football.}

01 Jan 2020 18:03:18
If he was outscoring Bayo then surely you'd prefer him over Bayo? He's got 56 goals since the start of last season and, without knowing much about him, it's the sort of numbers I'd be looking for all day long tbh. Eddy is amazing but he's not prolific so we need to be able to mix it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Remember Bayo was brought over here so Toure could mentor him.}

01 Jan 2020 18:56:34
Lawwels wages are only around 1-1.5 million.
The rest is performance related bonus.
We have a share price that isn't that far off the highest it's ever been.
On the park we are going through a unprecedented level of success in my life time. The last 10 trophies are in our trophy cabinet and we've won 15 of the last 20 titles
How many teams in Europe can say that?

Jeez spurs have won nothing and there man took over 6 million home not that long ago.
I'd say lawwel does a better job than the likes of Ed Woodward while having a harder job.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Whether it's bonuses or salary he shouldn't be getting that percentage of the turnover. There's no way in the world the Celtic CEO job is harder than the Man Utd job, Utd are arguably the biggest club in the world and the finances & market they deal in are astronomical compared to ours, the level and egos of players they deal with (Pogba) and dealing with superagents like Mino Raiola etc. I'm guessing Woodward's includes bonuses as his earnings dropped from £2.95m in 2016/17 to £2.6m in 2017/18 then up to the £4.1m last year.
Levy's earnings last year jumped from £2.6m to £6.1m because it included a back-dated pay-rise and performance bonuses that were also back-dated, basically they paid him money they had owed him over time.
How many other clubs in Europe can say their CEO takes the highest salary/bonus out of every employee? None.}

01 Jan 2020 19:00:09
Big Sam Cosgrove has scored 40 goals in last year, is a pure nightmare to play against. Just saying like.

Oh and happy new year everyone and thanks for your wisdom and input ed007 its appreciated 🍀💚 HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate, Happy New Year to you too.}

01 Jan 2020 19:09:59
DRB we paid 9 million for eddy and he had just 16 or so games under his belt before coming to celtic on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2020 19:21:47
I think we should honour that arrangement Ed and sell him off to Leicester 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - For £12 million 😁

01 Jan 2020 19:36:06
Plus Benkovic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd settle for £10 million for Bayo if they were throwing in Benkovic 😂

01 Jan 2020 19:42:06
Ed lawwel has to work harder to get things like sponsorship deals, revenue streams, kit deals ect ect ect. Compared to EPL teams we work with both hands behind tied behind our back.
Put us down there and lawwel would wipe the floor with that lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Aye OK then.}

01 Jan 2020 20:16:46
Can’t agree kev. lawells salary even before his bonuses are way to much for the environment he works in! And the ‘bonuses’ he gets are quite frankly are absolutely scandalous! Nobody can deny that lawell has done good things at the club but he’s also overseen the loss of major revenue streams with major failure in the champions league qualifiers! For me he gets just a little bit to much credit some times and avoids a lot of the real flak when things don’t go well. and I’ll be brutally honest and say that he doesn’t fight our clubs corner even nearly enough when we’re getting it tight from all angles! The aftermath of Sunday’s game being the latest!

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2020 07:22:25
I’m with the majority of the lads on here where I think he’s overpaid for the environment . I appreciate we are going through unprecedented success at the minute, but I wouldn’t put too much of that down to lawell. He has seemed to go down cheap options regarding managers, Ronnie / possibly Lennie . The appointment of Rogers by all accounts came from Desmond as he had the hump with sevco directors jumping around in front of him.

He never over spends when fans sometimes are crying out for a larger outlay, we all know he keeps the books positive so he can earn his big bonus cheque. Also like Danny said,
He rarely backs us up. ( in another note I miss the times of the lawyer that passed away, who always took sfa/ Rangers to task )

Happy NY hope you all have a healthy and great 2020. Ed thanks for all the great work this year. Wht are our Board so quiet Ican accept the defeat but can't be si gracious when it comes to the so called impartial media in this country, CFC is a Global business and should be defended so, our Club over the last few days has been slandered by the PR that comes from the other side. We are keeping silent why? Sorry for the rant but surely we need to respond. HNY.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year, Jamie.}

01 Jan 2020 14:37:37
Jamie; the club rarely rises to the bait as most of the bile and propaganda is manufactured to get a response/ debate, so the tribute-act hang onto our coat tails for publicity (in lieu of trophies) .
As much as I detest the Scottish Media and others like SLY who fly the flag for Sevco - the best way to shut them up is to carry on our TOTAL domination and do our talking on the pitch.

Happy2020,to everyone, I recall when it was the 2000 eve, the planet was filled with these doomsday merchants, there was people digging caves into hill sides, storing up supplies of dried milk and eggs and beans, and teaching their children how to make bows and arrows out of knicker elastic and chopsticks, so they could kill rabbits to eat, because they thought, because they had been told, that all the computers in the world would not be able to cope, because they were all programmed upto 1999,and it was ardmegeddon after that,
