Ed do you think we will try for Mcginn this month or you reckon he's south bound? I'd love to see him in with a solid centre half that's not cup tied and another striker.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It would need to be an extraordinary offer for McGinn to turn down Celtic.}

02 Jan 2018 02:06:19
Lennon would want at least same money we payed for Brown maybe even more but we won't pay higher than 5m I hope CH keep jozo Boyata can go we need number 10 which he has craved about what's the chances though ED of us doing that let's c . Loads of links and bull stories to come wae it being a small window let's c what the best bull story will be. Am sure there will be a wee surprise in there somewhere bring it on haha.

Do you expect us to put a bid in Ed? Wouldn't mind seeing him replace Armstrong and rotate with Ntcham/ Kouassi.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes I do but McGinn would be best staying at Hibs until the summer and playing regularly. The only way I'd bring him in this month is if Armstrong leaves.}

02 Jan 2018 10:46:12
From the family ed, no offer yet.

I like McGinn don't get me wrong the boy is a good player but is he any better than what we have, would hate to think we are going to spend 4m on a player who wudnt get a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 23:36:21
Rayman99 The negative view is that u would hate that McGinn @ £4m wouldn't be any better than we have . However I would look upon it that it would be great that for only £4 m we get a player much better than we have.

Happy New Year Ed and to all on hear I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year, Tony.}

01 Jan 2018 14:40:35
What positions do you see us investing in Ed, due to injuries and potential outgoings.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It'll be the defence that's priority. With Sviatchenko, Gamboa and possibly even Simunovic on their way out along with Boyata in the summer we'll be seriously short at the back, Caulker and Hendry? Musonda is still a possibility as is McGinn with a loan back to Hibs but I don't think any strikers will be brought in even if Dembele does leaves.}

03 Jan 2018 00:08:06
If we sign McGinn the least he deserves is that he comes to the club, works with the coaches, trains with the first team and is given the same chance as any existing player to get on the team and show us all what he can do . If he proves not good enough, if the manager wants him to go out on loan that's ok .
People on here a month ago were parcelling Ager up for loaning out from now . I think you all know by now that was stupid and we would have been in dire strait if he wasn't around over the last few weeks .
I think B Rodger, may have made a mistake in loaning Christie to Aberdeen, he had a spell to get continuity of play last season and I said when he went this year he would never have a Celtic career . I still think he won't but that doesn't mean he couldn't have given Celtic a hand in their very busy season, at worse a few half hours in games before and after European matches and especially in December.
I know it's remiss of me to say B R made a mistake, but like myself I think he is allowed one every two years.

Everyone I see in and around St Mirren say Lewis Morgan is the real deal. A complete player ready for the big time. His style of play reminds me of McGeady back in the day. Let's hope it is us who have him snapped up.

Everyone said the same about Scott Allan.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jan 2018 09:20:01
Everyone has said that about so many young players. It's the Fulton Syndrome and I'm not talking about Ricky either.

Him and Hendry are punts. Projects that hopefully Buck the mandatory dying on their arse, ending up at the Dundee's of this world.

McGinn is a long term replacement for Brown and I do t think he has the level of technical ability to be a 10 that would raise us to another level. So do we spend £5m for him and play them both?

Ofcourse he is better than Callumn and Rogers but unless it's a Ntcham/ Rogic Brown McGinn midfield or all four, and even then, we will still be way short in a Euro context. I definitely want him to sign but feel Rogers should have given our other fringe players a run when so many have been completely kofta.

Sinclair, McGreggor, Armstrong, all know they will play. Why bring in these projects and even when half the team are gash, not trust them to take their chance.

Hayes has had more game time than any of them and has been completely out of his depth.

Rogers has either bought duds or he is picking the wrong team for months. He is making the fatal mistake of being too loyal to players who are out of form. If I was one of these projects I would be fecked off that no mater how pish players getting a game are, I'm not in the picture.

We are stalling because Rigers failed to improve the team enough in the summer. The defence has depleted confidence by continually selling the jerseys. Players are now more apprehensive about trying things as they know the defence is kofta. You can see their nervousness in every big game.

If we come out of this window with a new right back, CB x2 and hopefully get shot of Doris and bring in a keeper who can save shots and kick a baw to our players, if Moussa goes a striker, then I will be happy.

If we get a good number 10 also I will do backflips.

The spectre of The Tin, always ruins this muse. Always.

Rogers ego should encourage him to demand investment. Ronnie's team has gone as far as it can. It's time he created his own. He never plays the players he bought enough, What does that tell us? Whatever it is, it doesn't fill me with belief that he is confident about them.

Anyway, let's hope Lawell was visited by the three ghosts of Christmas.

Brendans been here 3/ 4 transfer windows now, i think over the next 2 transfer windows we will see Brendans own team taking shape and hopefully putting in better defensive performances in Europe .

Buying efe Ambrose back would improve our defence and it would add some threat offensively. The lack of a threat at corners is appalling.

Wiltshire Celt

Loved Effe at the time, but we need more strength in our defenders to easily pushed off the ball in my opinion .
We don't need to break the bank for players, even in the play-offs we came up against some better technical and athletic players, our first touch and passing is woeful at times. i don't know why it happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 07:19:05
Jeezo - we seem hell bent on playing the same way out from the back and when we attempt passes between Boyata and Lustig, my heart is in my mouth. We need better technically solid players to play that way and if we are to strengthen the defence, let's hope we get someone who can score from corners and free kicks. I hope Brendan can find another Paul Elliott.

Brendan like all good managers spends most of the week building up his players confidence . Some idiotic buy season tickets to ridicule players all match . Other equally stupid fans spend the week on. Twitter and forums doing the same . We don't need a strong Sevco as we have many fans doing the secco fans work.

Happy new year to all on here. Sitting here thinking to myself about 2017 as a celtic supporter and you know what I think my first game was 1972 or 73 and if I live to be 100 I doubt if I'll see a season/ year like we just had. We are all experts when we give our opinion on here myself included and being realistic it's unfair to criticise again myself included. Celtic teams evolve Celtic teams break up but one things for sure we'll be there and we'll always be there like we have for the last 130 years of unbroken history. Hail Hail ☘.

All the best to big Erik if he goes. It's a shame that he and the gaffer don't click (Ed has alluded he gets wrapped up in the speculation) as I feel on his day he's probably our best CB.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

01 Jan 2018 17:28:18
Fae what I have heard the gaffer thinks he is to slow and to short for the way we play. With how far up the field our fullbacks play we need fast CBs.

I hope all your heads are not hurting too much after last night lol
Just wanted to have a moan about today's papers (what's new there then)
So apparently we are being urged to "sell Dembele IMMEDIATELY" but that Saint Mirren should hold on to Lewis Morgan as he is a "gem, and signing for Celtic he will become a lost bhoy".

Also Dundee must "hold out for serious money for Hendry (over £1.5m) and NOT accept Celtic's apparent £500k offer"
There is nothing like balanced reporting, and as usual we NEVER get balanced reporting where Celtic are concerned.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

01 Jan 2018 14:04:12
I've often thought Tim that with the quality of the expert punditry in Scotland it's easy to see why Scotland's national team haven't reached a tournament in 20 years. It can only happen in Scotland that the only thing that qualifies you to be an "expert" is to slag off Celtic no matter how successful they've been.
I do hope though that we try and make a couple of signings that can go straight into the first team, it's all very well signing players for the future but sometimes you need an improvement straight away.
I think teams are starting to target Lustig more and more, and he looks to me as if he is struggling at the moment. To me that should be rectified immediately, not by buying a youngster who might be able to take his place in 2 or 3 years time.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jan 2018 15:32:58
Was thinking were we not linked to giovanni troupee from utrecht last april. But BR denied interest at the time to be fair. The guy was only 18 at the time. He's a highly rated youngster with potentially a great career ahead. However, we have Ralston who's on his way back to fitness. It would of be worth taking a punt on young, potential, who could get us to the next level. But would it be better to buy or allow Ralston to share game time as an understudy to overtake lustig and develop him into the player we need?

Gamboa is absent and not reached the standard required. I think it would be in his best interest to go get some game time elsewhere showed little with us and he should be aiming to be at the world cup.

I'd personally like to see us ship gamboa get a few £ if we can and look into a decent quality right back. I'm sure there'd be a talent out there worth a good £5 million investment and is a gem just needing rough polished. Then set a higher standard to compete with Ralston and push to take over lustigs position. Who knows that competition might bring the bigman back to life. But big changes need to come to the defence.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jan 2018 16:56:45
4leaf improvements are needed right across the park never mind in defence. 2 new centre backs required. Ajar is NOT a centre back. We have tried to turn him into one. He is a decent player but he is a defensive mid. He is cover for Ntcham or we can if we need to play him at centre back. We need an additional right winger a striker a left winger so that's 5 minimum. We have Comper so 4 more required. If we sell current 2 centre backs and get £5mill, Dembele £17mill (thats tops) Aramstrong £5mill, that's £27mill. If we were allowed to spend it we could get 4 or 5 decent players. If Dembele stays he will need to improve dramatically or we are going to get very little for him in july.

Couldn’t agree more gerryc! I’m astounded that Lustig hasn’t come in for more criticism this season! And on Saturday he was truly shocking! 4 times in the first 8 minuted I couldn’t he gave the ball away! He’s been like that for a while now and somehow escapes any real criticism! If that was any other defender in our squad they would have got dogs abuse! I totally understand the big man has embraced our club and become a cult hero and he’s done a great job for us, but the fact is he’s been terrible for a while now. i think this break has came at a great time for us to be honest, chance to recharge the batteries and hopefully add a few bits of quality! We’re still in a great position, well ahead in league, trophy in the bag and Europe after Xmas, but the team looks to running on empty at the moment and a few guys haven’t got somebody breathing down there necks for a place! Lustig Sinclair to name a couple! Let’s add some quality and get that spring back in our step! That’s enough of my moaning now lads lol! Hope u all had a great new year and all the best for 2018! And a shout out to ED on doing a fine job and listening to all our 💩🤣🤣 COYBIG ☘️☘️💚.

At the Celtic v Sevco match that I saw, Lustig made many great interceptions and cleared many crosses . We were under far more problems from crosses from our left side of defence than his side.
Of course he got into difficulties getting in his clearances early on . Part of this may have been his own weakness but it was also down to his fellow Celtic players not been able to get into position to receive the ball from him, of course the fully pepped up Sevco didn't make life easier.
I honesty thought Lustig was our best back four player on Saturday but because of undeserved abuse from Celtic fans, he gets blamed in the wrong.

Got to agree with Big Sutton’s comments today about the players being tired - total nonsense

Lustig, KT and Brown where the players he singled out as the only ones with a reason to be tired - spot on.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

01 Jan 2018 11:23:55
He also calls it mental weakness! A team that went 69 games unbeaten is not mentally weak! Everyone can see the players are jaded a good few of the bhoys have been playing international games as well. James Forrest has played a lot of games aswell we have a lot of fantastic managers on here recently knowing the best team selections. We will come back from this break a lot better for it.

Agree2 Disagree2

01 Jan 2018 12:05:32
Get what a lot of you are saying but reality is the top teams with top players all play this amount of games

Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar play more and against far better opposition and never hear tiredness being used. Granted it’s unlikely these guys play 9 games in 27 days.

Just feel as a lot of others do that we are not building on last years fantastic achievement.

Today I see paper talk if 8 million in for Simo and we are looking at Hendry as a replacement - this mentality is not acceptable and will not allow us to improve.

Happy New Year and all the best for 2018 to EDs and all the Celtic family. Apparently Dembelle went straight down the tunnel when subbed after his slow walk off the park rather than watch the game. Read into that what you will but for me BR should compile 2 lists not based on ability but based on who wants to be here and who doesn't. If that's Armstrong, Jozo, Dembelle or whoever punt them. I'd rather pay my hard earned cash to watch young bhoys come through who're proud to wear the jersey. Two lists Brendan identify replacements then start the clear out.

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year mate.}

01 Jan 2018 14:19:33
A lot of our team had 2 weeks off in the summer at the most we had the cup final internationals then back for training and qualifying for champs league it was always going to be hard to replicate. I agree that we need to build on last years achievements mate and we always let them off the hook when we are in a position of strength!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - My mate sent me this from Tw@tter yesterday:

Including internationals, Kieran Tierney has played more minutes (3,607) in 17/18 than any other outfield player in any European top tier league. That equates to 40 full matches in 169 days, or 1 game every 4 days since July. Only Craig Gordon (3,780) has played more minutes. The 2 outfield players closest to Tierney are Scott Brown (3,220 minutes) and Mikael Lustig (3,137 minutes). Valon Berisha, of Salzburg, is the first non-Celtic player on the list, with 2,984 minutes - 7 games worth less than Tierney has played.

There's no Messi (2763 mins) or Ronaldo (2589 mins) even close to that so that puts to bed once and for all any talk about players at other clubs play the same amount of games as us or even the crazier myth that some play more! At other club's it usually 'keepers that have the minutes that our outfield players have.}

It's complete nonsense to say other teams have played as many games as us in this season so far .
Those who have played about 5/ 6 games less have turnovers 3 times and more than Celtic and thus can have a far bigger squad of top class first teamers.
