BR talking up return of GMS, always thought he had potential at United but done hee haw for us. Cliché, I know but he would literally be like a new signing if he can kick on.

If you look at what he's done with forrest I don't see why gms can't do the same. Also tactics wise the team right now is much better suited to his style than previously.

I don't think GMS has done himself any justice in a Celtic shirt so far but hopefully BR can do the same as he has with a few others like Tick67 said. When I've seen him he looks too lightweight which is his main problem.

Under ronnie forrest was first choice no matter form or fitness so gms played in bits . this season he's had injuries nw fit forrest actually deserve first pick . but on his game gms is a good player hopefully br can move him up a level of consistancy he needs.

Agree with what's been said about BR coaching prowess and also style of play suiting GMS. With Sinclair Roberts, if permanent and then Forrest and GMS, at worst he could be a great squad player to keep, if he does actually improve. A good headache to have would be if he did realise his potential and we would have to think about who would stay as I doubt we could accommodate 4 classy wingers. Better to be considering that than talking up Joe Dodoo as being better than MD lol!

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Dec 2016 17:46:22
Right guys, here is my thoughts on GMS . To date he has done very little at the club. BR has Forrest / Sinky and Roberts, with Roberts due to leave in the summer I think BR is getting GMS fitter than what he was/ is and getting him set up to replace Roberts . It comes accross as a new player, just one that has already bedded in .

As I said only a thought.

Right enough, Roberts' valuation would have to drop fair bit if he was to be an option.

I hope if Lawwell is leaving the next CE does not sell players on the cheap. Top dollar is what we want for top players Wanwayma and VVD sold cheaply with small bonus for sell on we should ask more and 20/ 30% sell on and if they don't like it tough. Talk tough and negoicate hardball.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Dec 2016 16:25:11
My thoughts adzactly no more 15 mill for our best stars play hard ball even le tiss is banging on about our scouting network been top drawer so top dollar or no deal.

Agree2 Disagree1

01 Dec 2016 17:52:13
I honesty think one of Lawwell's strongest points has been his ability to squeeze the last top penny for the players he is selling .
Selling from what is regarded by many as an inferior league players who are earning a fraction of what players receive in England makes it almost impossible to get English inflated prices .
In the past Rangers may have had ex managers who paid stupid money to Rangers for players but that doesn't happen any more.

Agree1 Disagree3

01 Dec 2016 18:37:40
No fan of Lawwell but I'd imagine there's few better to have in your corner when it comes to negotiating.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The rumours seem to have died down a bit but if Lawwell is leaving we'll be hard pressed to find a CEO as good as him. I can't fault him for the way he runs the financial and commercial side of things, look at our sponsorship deals, look at the stadium and The Celtic Way. It was when he started dabbling in the football side of things it went a bit haywire, he wasted millions in the transfer market on some stupid and some downright strange deals, Carlton Cole?
Now he's been reigned in a bit I'd actually be delighted for him to stay, maybe the new hands-on approach from the board, the higher budget and the buzz created by Rodgers appointment will reinvigorate Lawwell and make him eager to see how far we could go.}

01 Dec 2016 19:53:56
Does anyone know the reasons that Lawwell would want to leave? .
It seems odd to me that after the last few seasons when he became unpopular, that he should now want to leave at a time when the clubs position seems to be getting stronger.
You would imagine that our bargaining position regarding selling players must be stronger than it has been for a while, therefore he should get higher bonuses out of these deals. Equally, with the club doing well at the moment it must be easier to attract young promising players to the club.
I don't get to hear what goes on behind the scenes on a day to day basis living down here, but it just seems an odd time for him to want to leave, has there been a bust up behind the scenes? .

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - It might not be Lawwell's choice, Gerry, the board might think we need some new blood and fresh ideas in there, they might not see him as capable of making us AND keeping us a CL club, after all he's dropped the ball a few times over the years and failed to strengthen from a position of power.
There's no getting away from the fact that Lawwell's been as responsible as anyone for the poor way the Club has been ran since the MON days, with his ego he might not like the dilution of his power and the loss of his ally John Park. I've always thought that Pedro had one eye on a job at UEFA so maybe there's a chance of that or even a top EPL club might tempt him and he's not getting any younger.}

Great summary Ed. for a while he was doing a great job then, as you pointed out, some strange player signings. Most of his power abuse was whe RD was here. RD was a nice guy but not strong enough. I am sure BR has laid his conditions down which is showing on/ off field now. Pal is, overall, right fir the job (when kept to what he does best)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Cheers, TT (yes)

01 Dec 2016 20:57:18
Thanks for that ED, I've always accepted that we will have to sell on our best players, it's just the reality of the league we are in.
My gripe has always been not about the players we sell, rather the quality of players we have brought in to replace them with, I'm sure that better quality replacements could have been brought in rather than a lot of the duds that we did buy (Cifti, Cole, Pukka, etc) , a lot of them didn't end up saving money anyway as the crowds dropped off.
Sometimes you can try to be too clever, I think that was maybe the situation with Lawwell.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The overhauling of the scouting department will hopefully put paid to scouring the planet for projects while we overlook the quality that must also be on show. Sometimes you need to buy players for the here and now rather than a youngster you need to nurture over 2 or 3 years to reap the benefits.}

Love him or hate him he is admired from afar, he will walk into another job no problem, would like him to stay tbh.

IMO Lawwell is an excellent CEO. As long as he sticks to his role as CEO . I think too many managers hadn't enough confidence in themselves or were too lazy to insist that they had complete and total control over all football issues . Once Lawwell got involved in choosing players we were in trouble.

Think he's done a fine job apart from what ed touched on regarding football side but all other areas he's as good as there is even the Barcelona president came out and complimented him after cl game.

Don't understand the let players go on the cheap and getting top dollar for players! Any player that leaves our club for 10 million or over we're doing well! We've got to remember what league we're playing in lads!

Think Lawell has done great getting the money he has for VVD, wanyama and forrester! If anybody thinks we're going to sell our players regularly for £20 million plus then they're living in a fantasy!

Yes dembele mite be the exception but it won't be a regular thing. if Lawell keeps his nose out of football matters then I don't think we could do any better in his position.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Dec 2016 12:39:34
Constantly seeing Dembele being linked with a host if top clubs throughout Europe. With price tag ranging from £20-£50 million.

While I can understand the interest in our player, I am astonished that the same clubs are not in for Joe (The Swash) Garner, as he is apparently every bit as good as Dembele and you could get him for a packet of Ringos, 5 penny chews and a quenchie cup.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Jim Traynor has been desperately trying to get a quote on Garner from Zidane at Real Madrid ;-)

01 Dec 2016 13:18:08
Funny you should mention traynor ed007.
He was in my work the other day and he was raving about tom rogic.
Talking about how great brown has been tae.

{Ed007's Note - Well he's hardly going to rave about anything to do with TRIFC when he's not on the clock is he?}

Just surprised me a bit ed.

01 Dec 2016 13:47:30
How did he manage to enter the building Kev? Did you have to remove an external wall for him?

By the way Jim managed to get a quote from ZZ. When asked "who is the better player between Dembele and Garner? He replied, "who is Garner? Is he that wee dick that used to be on Eastenders? "

Agree2 Disagree1

01 Dec 2016 16:48:11
A hear they are hiring Garner oot as a Joe Swash lookalike -D.

I wasn't with an asses roar of where you work but I sense Traynor was talking sarcastically and some swallowed .

No old bhoy he was not talking sarcastically. We were just chatting because he was flicking through one of the papers that gets left out for customers to read.

So realistically how many points can the deluded support over the bridge expect to pick up in December I'm seriously thinking that they could win three or less and never mind new transfers I think it's a new manager they will need. Warburton will be reduced to kids party's (he does have a magic hat) and dreaming of taking over Paul Daniels spot in the entertainment business.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

01 Dec 2016 12:41:10
I think they will have excelled themselves if they get 9 points from their next 6 fixtures.

The last guy that did the kids parties at the crumbledome never got payed so he better watch for that.

Listen I've just heard and keep it quiet for a bit that loads of people are searching everywhere for some kind of magic hat apparently it's on the missing list but if ya find it it can do all sorts of magic things so lads keep your eyes peeled ya never no we mite be lucky enough to find it and it will promise to make all our dreams come true ;)
