I have been impressed with Ajeti, I think, once LG is fit, we should go to a 433 system, with Ajeti and Edouard and Griffs as the front three,

So there you have it 7 games into season and eddy is fatigued that's after nearly 5 months of lockdown feck av heard it all now and this is from the player.

Personally I don't think he should have travelled to play in the French Under 21 game after being injured as he could aggravate it and then we lose him for weeks. Anyway; It's strange for a player asking not to be considered for a game though and it puts doubt in minds.

Once the transfer window closes the playing squad can settle down and get on with the job in hand for a few months at least until the January transfer window opens.
Celtic just need to win our next 2 league games before the International break and then the players will hopefully come back a more settled and contented squad of players.

3 at the back or 4 at the back. until the midfield is sorted we will always give chances up.
I have said for a while something is missing.
Am no expert but to me its a box to box and a ball winning midfielder.
To often we are second to 50/ 50s. to often we are loosing our runners to very average teams.
Rangers bossed the middle of the park in the last two games and for me nothing has changed.
We have to find a partner for McGregor.
Brown is warrior and has been a leader on and off the field but its no shame to say he has lost a bit of edge. mother nature is taking its toll.
Hes still got a major roll to play this season but surely at home against Livingston was the stage for Turnbull to fill the box to box position.

Agree Jungle John. Brown should have benched and Ntcham or Calmac played in his role with Turnbull pushing on. Way to pedestrian ìn possession and very predictable.

Jungle jum and chinks . celtic midfield tackling is very poor and has been very poor for quite some time.

McGregor gets away with it more as he is expected to be a deep lying oit ball and his size means that we don't expect him to snarl his way in to tackles

Brown WAS that man and he would often lift others BUT that is not really in his locker either these days . brown went through a period of missing the ball by feet and hauling the player down . now he misses the ball by yards and the player. a non tackling Brown in that midfield equals a passenger as the question is, IF he is not fulfilling that role, could someone else?

We keep saying he's a leader, well he doesn't lead us in to timely tackles

Christie can do that incidentally. he and Turnbull are probably about as close to orthodox midfielders with an ability to mix it

Ntcham not so sure
Moi no way
Frimpomg no way and Forrest couldn't tackle a fish supper

Incidentally, his ATTEMPT to stop that last minute cross ( noting he was a sub with bags of energy ) was a complete JOKE. he should get a rollicking for that. it was inept and lazy and we can do without it .
There is something missing . I think its quality and hunger. not easy to find

We have quality but for too long we have said we are STACKED in midfield and that may be true, but we are not rich in tacklers and that is a key part of the game

Nor are we MAXED on players that can take a player on and go on to change the dynamic in a moment . possession is done when you can do it Barcelona style where everyone is moving and where everyone can actually play a killer pass . that is not us

We need someone to drop the shoulder or head and dart here there and everywhere from time to time just to create the opportunity for something to open up

Ajer can do it . and does do it but it starts too deep. maybe Turnbull

Forrest should be doing it
Frimpomg can and does

We move on

Cmon the hibees.

I remember the first time we went for 10 in a row, we had the better players, we had the momentum but well we know the rest.
This Celtic team are no where near the level of the 74/ 75 team but neither are the main challengers.
I think the problems Lennon has is the exact same as Big Stein, there are many ways to win this league but only one not to.
That may sound stupid but the new club in Glasgow seem to be playing with no pressure unlike us.
It brings back memories I hope this time will be different.

I'll leave the technical stuff to others who are more able to work out the different systems and formations better than me, but I can't understand how every player in the team is liable to be dropped other than Scott Brown.
This is no criticism of Brown as he has been crucial to our success ever since he joined us.
The fact is though that age does look as if it's taking it's toll and he is the one player more than anyone who would benefit from playing fewer games.
There is something drastically wrong if we can't take on Ross county, St mirren, and Livingston without Brown in the team, in fact it's quite worrying.

19 Sep 2020 20:04:56
I agree Lubomir; I have been saying for years that we have a midfield of small ball-playing footballers and no muscle or bite (Broony apart) and we have maybe not been outplayed - but arguably - outfought by Sevco in recent games.
The balance has to be perfect in all great teams and we don't have a happy medium of graft, guile and flair at the moment or even a settled formation or preferred first eleven?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Sep 2020 21:08:36
The new team from Glasgow has had many relatively easy games at home . Every season we have Celtic fans after a handful or so of games talking up Rangers2012 and every season when the heat is on, Gerrard and his men slip up and their challenge disappears . This season will be no different, we haven’t hit any sort of form yet and we are top of the table.

That was turgid. Yes it was a win, but boy we were rank. Its clearly time Broony was left out as he can't play every week and today offered very little and was at fault for their 2nd goal. Big Ajer can't defend, ball watching in last minute and luckily the boy had a head like a ten bob or it would have been 3-3. If we think that team under NL's stewardship will canter to 10, we are wrong. Big fight ahead unless we seriously improve.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Think we were more comfortable than the scoreline suggests as they scored with a penalty and a worldly, have to agree about Brown and Ajer and for me is a simple fix, give Brown more rest time put Ajer as HM and play a back 4 with Elhamed Jullien Duffy and Taylor's replacement.

19 Sep 2020 18:24:18
Chinks we are only 7 games into the season. We have the exact same amount of points and goals conceded as last season, which incidentally is 6 more points at same point in Rodgers last season. Last season sevco came out all guns firing and only dropped 3 points out of 7 games when we beat them and look what happened to them?

Last season people were writing broony off because of his sluggish start to season as usual and look what happened there? He was one of our best players. Same will happen this season.

Too many fans jumping the gun, it's only start of season!

Philtim88, I'm afraid I don't share your optimism. Last year was last year, here and now we are miles off it and are shipping goals for fun with all of our best players available.

Chinks67 my defence of brown is based on opinion that any time he is injured, he needs a run of games to get to his best. I do think this is his last season, but at same time I do think he still has a lot to offer.

Keep the faith mate.

Are we the sort of club that we could loan Ajer out and get a CB also on loan who would fill the position better?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon's come out and said Brown will be rested/ in and out the team this season. Maybe to keep him fresh as well as trying to blood in Turnbull to take over his mantle when he possibly hangs his boots up at the end of the season.

Pretty poor to be honest. This chopping and changing the starting 11 doesn't help. Another 2 goals conceded. This will eventually costs us if we don't tighten up. However top of the leagueđź‘Ť.

Top of the league after a start-stop-start to a difficult, CV affecting, empty stadia season is fine, but agree, everyone can see we are way short of our best and why he still doesn't seem to know his best 11 or system - nearing October - is a wee bit worrying as is the early goals we concede.
I appreciate some players are still settling in and with the transfer window still open for a fortnight, we may well lose one or two, but that should have been a lot easier today than we made it, with the amount of talent we have at our disposal at the home of the Champions.

19 Sep 2020 17:46:15
Let's be fair here lads livi second goal was a cracker. Nothing you can do about that. But again brown has like 6 touches of the ball first half he's not doing enough to make easier for defence. Question marks of how late again that the subs came on. Why why does Lenny do this. Frimpong and elhamed work well together the crossing of tayker stinks other than that one assist. But job done at the to pressure building now lads.

It’s been a slow start by Celtic to this very important season.
The shape and performances are still below par to what the fans are used too.
The good thing is we won again.
In the last 2 games we could easily have dropped points.
Results wise Celtic have had a similar start to last season in the league.
In the first 7 league games we have the same points and Celtic have scored only one goal less and conceded one goal more at the same stage last season.
If Celtic don’t get beat against Hibs next Sunday, we will have made a better start than last season because in our 8th league game last season we lost away to Livingston.
Although things aren’t great, they could’ve been worse.

19 Sep 2020 17:53:03
Livi scored a pen n a late wonderstrike tbf. It was comfortable. Fact remains after all the upheaval we have had we are top of the league and still have a game in hand regardless of how the manky mob get on tomorrow and all we hear is how settled and confident etc they are. Some supporters constantly look to pick holes. Look on the positive side eh.

I can't remember the analogy am thinking off, buts it's something like that Steve McQueen joke, from the Great Escape, "so far, so good ", or maybe we are like a canoeist, paddling desperately against the current, as the current drags us nearer to the waterfall, pretending to ourselves that we are doing alright and not noticing that the waterfall is getting closer all the time.
The team selection is wrong, the team tactics are wrong, this is beginning to remind me of one of the seasons we endured under our greatest ever manager, praise him, praise him, but of course, we won the league that season.

19 Sep 2020 18:43:49
Yes it's a great strike Andy but we don't press the ball nearly enough he should never have the time and space to get that shot off we're conceding far to softly in my opinion whilst the Tribute act aren't conceding be at all.

IMO We should forget about the last season and the stats of last season this year is what counts and so far this season we have been rank . I blame one person for that our great Em tactician Lol wonder what the we love Lenny brigade will come out with IF we lose 10iar or get beat of Sevco?

A wins a win but although playing well in spells we flatter to deceive.
Defensively poor from all over the team not just the defense and full/ wing backs who can't cross the ball when the opportunity arises.
I was impressed with Ajeti who took his goal brilliantly and links play well however gets isolated mainly because of the system we played today.
Top of the league just need to be better to stay there.

A 3-2 win at home to the bottom side and we were lucky to get it in the end. Shocking defending AGAIN and an overall lack of quality play throughout with just one or two exceptions.
A rocket needs to come from somewhere and it doesn't appear as if Lenny has a lighter for the fuse. HH.

Was there really 98 and a half minutes played there or was it an error on Flashscore? Convenient injury time when the games tightly balanced and a strong penalty shout waved away. Operation StopThe10 in full force.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thought the officials were very typical of the season so far. Wave away Celtic free kicks or pen claims and penalize at every opportunity. The booking for Klimala was absolutely ridiculous and the added time factor is as predictable as a black jobby after a Guinness.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Sep 2020 17:59:23
There was 4 minutes injury time added which went over by only about 20 seconds.
The referee was a rookie but I felt he got the two penalty decisions correct.
The days of sliding in with your arms out to block a cross are over because there’s 2 chances of giving away a penalty.
I thought it was a strange decision for Douglas Ross to be a linesman in a Celtic match 2 games in a row after been given the Hibs game next week. That must be a first.
We also got Baby Dallas 2 out of 3 games.

Ajer is a mistake just waiting to happen, he shouldn't be anywhere near central defence, think right back is his best position, but he isn't as good as Elhamed, so he shouldn't really be getting a game at the minute, definitely need another proper central defender.

No Turbull or Eddy today and Ajeti lone striker in what looks like a 4-3-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 depending on how you look at it.
One striker at home in the SPL is disappointing when we have a change to go top with a convincing win, but let's see how it goes?
