Barcelona next . I actually think we are a better team and they are not as good a team at the time we beat them 2 1 . That saying there is still a massive gap between the teams . I think we'll see a little bit more of the ball, and without doubt require a large slice of luck but Celtic beating Barcelona on Wednesday certainly wouldn't be the biggest shock of this year.

Any reason messi not playing last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was sick.}

20 Nov 2016 08:50:12
Cheers ed hope it's week long sickness if u know what a mean.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would be far more worried about Suarez than Messi if I was you. Barca are (almost) certain to be the better side with or without Messi, so it is a goalscorer that you want out. They do not really have someone else to sniff out half chances and put them away, as was shown against Malaga.}

20 Nov 2016 08:59:20
The only thing I will be demanding us we out up a fight. The recent spate of missing chance after chance worries me. Against Barca, chances will be thin on the ground and our ratio of chances to goals in the last six games has been piss poor.

Let's be honest we need a win to have any chance to get third place and it would have to be against the best team ever.

Have a go. We will create chances and in a game like this making an arse of them as we have done too often lately is not an option.

Mon the Tic.

Saurez is a class act.

Damage limitation will be the order of the night. Our defences have shored up and gelled a bit since, this will be a test to see by how much.

"Celtic don't have to worry about players leaving for £10 m no more" BR.
That's a brave statement and looking quite possible with at least 2 of our brightest prospects.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 Nov 2016 17:26:12
cash will always tempt this board. maybe BR has been given assurances for this coming window.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 18:17:10
Money may always tempt the board but they will always get the best price for the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 19:14:20
if players want to leave that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 21:24:00
What I actually meant was it's quite possible we don't or won't flog of our star players as soon as they reach that 10m tag.
Infact the time had maybe arrived where squad players will be overlooked for a player who will improve the team.
I'm looking forward to CL in 2017/ 18 already. A couple of additional players and a kinder draw, beyond the group stages is a distinct possibility.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 22:13:38
Bhoywonder, you are right Celtic will always flog their top players, but only after they and their agents insist on them moving on.
We haven't heard anyone saying recently they want to move on.

There isn't many football clubs in world football who don't sell players.

We are a developing club now pure and simple and with that comes departures. The position of Scottish football in terms of attendances, facilities and competitiveness forces this approach. Then there is the financial aspect to think off. If your offered 2 or 3 times your salary elsewhere would you not consider it?
Remember a lot of the players we sign have no allegiance to us it's a stepping stone in there careers.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Nov 2016 16:34:41
dont worry lawwell will soon encourage them to leave when the big money offers come in.

It must be very difficult to support a club who has a very senior employee plotting against the club.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Nov 2016 16:50:00
lawwell has held us back the last few seasons while awarding himself obscene bonuses.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Nov 2016 23:01:11
To be accurate the board agree Lawwell's bonuses based on a pre- arranged criteria
Many may say it's obscene, but at the end of the day the difference in what Lawwell gets including bonuses ( just less than £1m ) and say the industrial average of £550-£600 wouldn't hold a club of Celtic 's size back much . An unwanted free transfer with no lump sum and a weekly wage of £7,000 or £8,000 .
I imagine we would be better without.

Could Celtic go unbeaten in the SPL this year?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

19 Nov 2016 12:25:56
Definitely. If a remember right the odds were pish at the start of the season. Something daft like 4-1.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 13:02:56
That's right Steph. Not worth the punt imo, and that was then. Of course it's possible and we're a little closer now but I wouldn't be thinking about being invincible until a few games to go. So many honest mistakes can happen between now and then.

Too much football to be played to be very confident but the team are in a very good place so why not?!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 13:47:12
Agree it would be a very hard thing to do, but we should have it as one of our goals for the season. Two or three more quality players and this will be our best team in years.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 16:55:40
I still say no, there's guna be one of those games somewhere down the line, as long as it's not against that manky mob from the dark side I don't really care

19 Nov 2016 18:10:36
I think although we are comfortably ahead, there are some players that are blowing hot and cold at the moment and the unprecedented, heavy schedule of games in December will be a very tough ask?
There already have been a couple of games where we have had to dig-in for the win and I would hope we make a couple of quality signings in January to give us a boost and give the squad more options as there are certainly some still at the club who are surplus to BR's plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 22:15:43
They could but it is most unlikely, not only are all the other teams ou to beat them& of course that is their duty but other people also do their best.

Agree0 Disagree3

19 Nov 2016 10:44:49
Some posters unhappy with last night's game, but they are forgetting how many players we had away on inernational duty (14) , then add in the injured players and little preparation time, Celtic did good to get the 3 points.
The only thing I can see stalling our progress is our heavy fixture list now until Hogmanay virtually 3 games a week, and if we pick up more injuries it will test the full squad in detail.
But I am confident despite the "random fixture computer" we will still be well ahead come January 1st.

Well said Tim. Winning whilst playing poorly and making key changes (Boyata eg) is what Champions do.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 12:22:14
Does international football make you forget how to pass to each other . blame the park forso. e of the performance but not internationals . we just didn't play well last night.

19 Nov 2016 13:05:29
Win whilst playing poorly DRB? Yeah sometimes.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 13:22:31
We did play well for most of the first half and the passing was slick on that tricky pitch and even allowing for the time of the KO, International break and team changes - we still managed 3 points, even though we faded and looked a bit weary and careless at times.
Another plus was another clean sheet and those used to be few and far between - even though Boyata gave the fans and his team mates a few nervous moments. A good R&R before Wed should re-charge the batteries and then we have a cup final to look forward to.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 14:18:04
Leagues I meant jimtim.

19 Nov 2016 15:17:10
Not sure what your point or angle is DRB lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 15:56:38
Not having a dig jimtim as i said you wernt on rds back on here . and I know what your saying. it just struck my funny bone that winning leagues even though not playing well wasn't good enough for ronnie delia (I know other factors involved) but saying now it's a mark of champions . gave me a chuckle.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 16:02:41
I actually thought Killy played well last night

at least they tried

better than the asbestos mob

at the start of the season I thought theyd be first on the relegation bus

and hard fought games, after int breaks, I would take 1-0 any day of the week

me happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 16:50:22
The difference (in my opinion) is that last year under RD, we would have drawn or lost that sort of game.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 17:06:25
I didn't think you were having a go DRB, just wasn't sure where you were coming from (yes) . I'm having an off day. The league side of things was good enough for me last year I tell ya. It's water under the bridge now really anyway. BR was brought in and given more of a backing to suit his 'profile', if you will. The squad dynamic seems to be fine without certain individuals in the picture. Some of the football this year has been as good as I can remember. I backed RD until I was blue in the face, was very disappointed it didn't work out, but under BR now, we're in a better place. The main thing being that he isn't made a puppet.

We are missing too many giid scoring opps. That's it.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 10:52:10
Although it was difficult to watch at times, I think we showed we can win games when not on top form, and against stuffy defensive opposition without ever having to push out of second gear. Kilmarnock played well and fair play to them, they managed to pressure is into a couple of good opportunities that unfortunately for them they didn't make more of, however I firmly believe if they had scored we had more than enough to produce a reply.

I thought mcgregor had a good game at left back and it's nice to see the likes of him and Armstrong show there flexibility within the squad. Felt Roberts looked stifled in the centre and looks much more effective on the wing. Anyway HH to another win, let's make it a week to remember. Bring on the Barca! 😇.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 Nov 2016 12:13:46
i thought we started the game very well - considering the changes made and the tricky surface - and the passing/ movement was great in the first half and we should have scored one or two more.
The second half was a different story with players losing energy and making too many mistakes - giving Kilmarnock encouragement.
There was an excuse for the guys on International duty, but others like McGregor, Armstrong, Sinclair and Roberts also seemed to fade after an hour; although I thought Forrest, Lustig and Eric were excellent, whereas Boyata was very poor and never looked comfortable.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Nov 2016 22:33:37
Surface was terrible difficult to play on . Kilmarnock knew that so they didn't go out to play fielding two lines of four in defence with another player covering between the lines .
Players couldn't turn or change pace, therefore football wasn't pleasant on the eye .

I know most of us don't care what colour type etc. strip the players wear as long as they win etc. But 'Pink' Celtic jerseys!
We already have Scotland running around in pink nee-naw strips (playing like jessies) and now our third strip is pink. Is someone in the design team taking the piss?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

19 Nov 2016 10:12:25
It's totally the wrong shade of pink though. It looks too similar to the Hearts colour for me from a distance. Don't get me started on our away GK that looks blue. It could just be my eyes mind. I was looking forward to NB but I don't like any of the three kits this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2016 00:15:14
There is only one colour group for Celtic Green and White Hoops . I have never seen another strip that I like .

Got to agree with Old Bhoy.

I also recognise the financial aspect that shirt sponsorship means though.

AYe Magicpole we should be able to continue bringing out new different versions of green and white hoops, to keep the sponsorship money flowing in.
