Guys would you accept Celtic parking the bus and say winning the Europa league or getting to CL last 8? Or play attractive football we like to watch and not be successful in Europe? can't have both soz it just a debate lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Why can't we have both, other teams seem to manage it.}

This season we parked the bus and look what happened:

- embarrassed by the worst AC Milan side I have ever seen.

- embarrassed again by one of the poorest Barcelona teams (in my opinion) in years.

- and away to Ajax was the worst football I have ever seen Celtic play if you can call it that. Also they made us look like a pub team.

the simple reasons that should be changed the past few seasons is:

1. forrest as our out ball in the cl

2. playing 1 up front (usually samaras although stokes plays every spl game gets dropped for european games so surely we should be using these games to build for europe) not saying he's good enough anyway but just don't understand it

i think this year if we attacked the teams we were up against we would of been getting results

this year can surely only get better and with johansen in I feel him and griffiths could be the two that pulls us through the qualifiers when the rest of the squad look a little slow

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we should park the bus, nor should we go on all out attack . We need to find a defensive system that allows us to break quickly and put pressure on the opposition . I was very impressed by A. Madrid in both legs of semi final .

Chris Sutton claiming he is bankrupt because of a bad £50k investment for him and the same for his missus. Surely he earned a whole lot more than £100k in his career. I suspect there are other "bad" decisions along the line.

Hail Hail

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chris he won't get the number 2 position now as a result, which is a real shame I would like a forward/attacking mind

With DMcG needing to take it a bit easier any ideas Ed who we are pursuing?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Nothing like that will have even been discussed, Jamie. Danny McGrain is at home resting and there are no plans to replace him unless Danny himself doesn't want to continue, he is expected to make a full recovery.}

Chris Sutton and Lennon would have been two massive moaners and it wouldn't have worked . Chris would have been in a hurry away at lunch time like when WGS was his boss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris02 well it would have been better than Peter Houston or John Kennedy getting it from within . a bet it's Houston!

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no idea . I wouldn't fancy Houston but you could be right .

I hope we get someone new in, probably with no link to Celtic .

after another great season for our youth teams, how long should we expect the best of them to stay with us giving the rare introduction to the first teams our youths get (apart from warming the bench)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's a definite glass ceiling between our youth/development squads + first team that needs investigated to find out the cause for this, even though we all know what it is!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a problem with the bigger EPL teams and they spent the most of the season trying to get an answer .
It's relatively easy for Dundee UTD to bring through youngsters but on paper at least settled Internationals are barring their place at Celtic . Would DU left back Robertson have displaced Izzy often?

Ed, are you happy with the United announcement, van Gaal as manager w/ Giggs as his asst?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Compared to the Moyes appointment I'm delighted although ideally I would have like to see Klopp taking over. I'm not too sure about what Giggs brings to the table as an assistant manager though, his inexperience and the clout he has in the dressing room could cause problems.}

Giggs may be appointed assistant in name only to keep the United family happy . I would expect the manager to bring his back room men with him .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Chris the hold up with the announcement was because LvG wanted to bring in Patrick Kluivert as his assistant and Utd were adamant that Giggs got the job. Frans Hoek and Marcel Bout will come in as coaches.}

Tbh, I'd rather have Kluivert than Giggs. Has he not done quite well with Twente?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He was coaching their youths but left at the end of season 2011/12 to join the Dutch national set-up.}

UTD wanted Giggs to keep some continuity but it could back fire badly on United if the Manager and his assistant don't form a very good working relationship . The ideal situation I think is for the Manager to pick his own back up staff.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything.}

There's been a lot of talk about who everyone would like to see as the next Celtic manager if Lennon leaves, what about former Brighton manager Oscar Garcia? Done pretty well at both Maccabi Tel Aviv + Brighton, so this would be his 3rd first team managerial position and his 6th season in coaching having also been a youth coach/manager with Catalonia and Barcelona.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doubt we could get him but i'd like to see rene girard, just taken lille to 3rd in ligue 1, won Montpellier their first ligue title season before last and has managed the French under 16, 19, and 21 teams

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely Celtic is as big a draw, if not bigger, than Southampton or West Brom? He had a cracking season with Brighton mind you, achieved the Championship Playoffs but was up against bigger/richer clubs. After spending no money in the summer or winter windows (Matthew Upson, Adam Chicksen and Kenny Agustien joined on free transfers; Keith Andrews, Stephen Ward, Craig Conway and Leroy Lita joined on loan deals) I think 6th is a successful season, not to mention they played some attractive football, and that's why he's been linked with the Southampton + West Brom jobs. Again, this success was down to a manager with a solid tactical system rather than financial backing!

Agree0 Disagree0

I was doubting we could get girard rather than Garcia, I've not really seen much of brighton or Garcia but yes we are bigger than the clubs you mention but its the pull of the epl, our appeal is the cl of course

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologies, picked you up wrong DRB. The tables are reversed, I've not seen much of the man at Montpellier lol. I think we can both agree that we need to broaden our horizons rather than continue to go after the British style manager as that's not going to bring us entertainment or continental success.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic are a big draw, bigger than most EPL clubs . However as far as prospective managers are concerned Celtic 's budget is similar to lower Championship sides in England .

Watching the cup final on Sat. The deliberate hand ball into the net, if that had been a defender keeping the ball out he would have been sent off, why only a booking for the Forward? The same applies if an attacker dives for a penalty, he risks a booking, but if he cons the referee the defender gets sent off and a penalty is awarded .
