I wouldn't risk him. Let him sit this one out.

Completly agree. People always said they wish they could have Moravick a lot earlier and although I'm not putting Rogic on that same pealstool I think some of his touches are just sheer brilliance and is close as we could possibly get to a young Lubo.

I know it's a long shot but any tickets available for Hamilton bhoys? My mates coming over from Jersey and would like to surprise him and get to the game.

McCarthy getting stuck in in the first 15mins too.

For the money still think it would be the wrong way to go. St Juste would be a far better signing or some one of that ilk. We're on verge of maybe seeing VVD becoming EPL's most expensive defender. Would rather we pursue that route. Fair play to McCarthy, on his day he can look like a vintage Carrick but don't see him as next level material even if he was relatively affordable.

I'm in a similar boat to you daviebhoy. Like Sinclair, I'm cautious about McCarthy. They both showed great promise and ability but for one reason or another their careers came to a bit of a stall. Like Sinclair, I think if McCarthy came in he could find his mojo. He's starting to find gis feet again now though and could well be back in the plans. If I were Koeman I'd have McCarthy in there alongside Gueye personally. I think McCarthy would improve us if we got him in on a cut price deal and would like to see him in the hoops, but especially with the emergence of Armstrong I'm not sure he's quite the priority. I'd personally go for St. Juste over McCarthy too. Bit more defensive, more potential imo and could play at CB too.

Plays in Holland with Heereven (sp) Haven't seen all that much of him myself but have friends in Holland who have raved about him over last year.

I realise he can play both but is he not more of a natural CB than a CDM?

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Dec 2016 13:54:16
He plays centre back more often Tompo, looking for a smaller squad it's important to have that versatility though. But think along the lines of Wanyama in that he's more than good enough to play CDM, that's what I'd look to do, and have him play CB when need be. We've only had a tedious link to him anyway so there's probably nothing in it.

{Ed007's Note - I spoke to him the other day. Mrs T is recovering and Tim is just plodding along same as usual with his own health. He says he'll try and get on here at some point over Christmas. Oh and his Sunday outings have been knocked on the head for now.}

I see Johansen is starting to get rave reviews down in London. Part of me wishes he had stayed because he showed that he was class on his day and he would have fitted in well with the current system. At the time though, the deal was right for all parties.

It won't be long before he starts putting in the same lacklustre performances.

Not always Tompo88. His first season and a hlaf he was excellent and then last season was awful, but who wasn't awful last season? Griff and Tierney and that's a bout it. I'm just saying look at how some of the poor performers from last season are playing now, he could have been excellent. But like you say, it was definitely the right time.

I thought the first half season we had him he was incredible. I thought he started his first full season well, but by the time he came to the end of it he had already started to seriously under-perform his body language at times was awful and he did not look anything of the player I thought he would turn into. I still don't think he should of got POTY that year as the last halF or quarter of the season he wasn't great at all (IMO)
