Just seen a post down the page about the boy McKay at Inverness.Worth a shout for the SPL and maybe more of he works hard on his game? I think a natural goalscorer is a natural goalscorer wherever he plays.Surely his tally would be up 20-30% in a Celtic team.Cheap signing as well. green jhedi

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I posted that as always c his goals in highlights but not much else.i agree about the scoring goals in some part but wouldn't want that 2b only thing to his game as then he'd be Boyd and we all know how p.sh he is hail hail
Cha67

Agree0 Disagree0

@Cha67: that's my point mate. All we need is a poacher in the Boyd mould, slimmer of course! Hooper was that but then started dropping a little deeper and his goal tally dropped slightly. The fact is this guy seems to hit the net regularly and might be just what we need.I would hope being with us would up his all round game as well.I reserve judgement as I have never really watched him just noticed his scoring record. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

I recommended him at the start of the window, but someone said he is rangers daft and would never sign for us. I'd take a punt on him anyway.

Darrenbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a Rangers fan, don't think that would stop him signing. Think the fact he's not as good as Samares, Stokes, Watt and Balde probably would. This is a guy who coundnt get a game for Northampton Town! there's people moaning at the thought of the Pukki signing, from the bundersleague, let alone a Northampton reject. meastro8

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 King Kenny was Rangers daft too, I'm sure if Celtic went for him he would come.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Agee with u gj don't know much about him but maestro8 he is only 24 people improve he may have been mince doesn't mean he still is or always will be plus none of us said sign him we were only fishing for info m8 hail hail
Cha67

Agree0 Disagree0

Ps the greatest manager in history the l8 gr8 sir jock stein was a currant as was king kenny Paul lambert and many more probably but who cares these sort of people just want to do the best for themselves and we all know it doesn't get better than paradise( not facts in case I get a barage but just what I've been lead to believe over the years) hail hail

Hi Ed, was just wondering what you thought of Luc Castaignos? I remember him playing against us with Inter and he looked promising, if we would even get him away from Twente. Also have Rabiu Ibrahim and James Keatings been released or just loan deals? KT {Ed007's Note - Ibrahim and Keatings have both left the club. Castaignos is a great player IMO. He kind of lost his way a bit but he is still only 20 and has time to turn it round.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

ED007:Dont know much about the boy mate but I would fear he might be another Ibrahim. Your description is about spot on to the way I would have described him.Having said that he never got a real crack at it. green jhedi

I see that wee thug Ian Black is in bother for betting on teams not to win in games he was involved in tut tut, maybe explains the Sevconians abysmal form. Stevie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good enough for him, hope he is guilty.Heard tonight about a story ready to break regarding mr dallas, anyone hear anything.jimbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely anyone would fancy a team with Black in it to get beat?. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Noticed on TV's News Programmes sports report on Ian Black's 'Crookies at the Bookies' fiasco his defunct team was listed twice as 'the THEN Registered team. ' in the given statistics .

To hoopey 67, fair enough, I was more or less agreeing with timalloys team selection, putting effe in at right back for more height, maybe a better goal threat if we get any set plays, I don't rate him as a midfielder, better bringing the ball from deep then supplying the more creative players, whatever team nl puts out they will all have to play with more belief ( conviction ) and technichal ability than the elfsborg game, mrs e timalloy, gj, chrissbhoy, darrenbhoy kev, et al hope wee get through, then we can get serious about who might come in if wee qualify . Cheers Ths.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Lenny will stiffen the back and midfield.I also think he will give Virgil and Mouyokolo a start if this team are as route one as we are led to believe. Big decision for me is Sammi. If he plays him up top alone we will be asking for trouble as this will give them a chance to shell us all night. Tricky line up for the boss this one. green jhedi

Ed, it looks like we're going to have to go with what we have for BOTH legs of the CL tie. Wouldn't you have thought it was worth making a decent signing to boost our chances of making it through? We simply don't have a goalscorer of any proven quality at the club. I'm a bit disappointed but then I'm not the boss and I hope the club know what they're doing. They certainly love to ride a roller coaster without a safety harness, don't they?

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy {Ed007's Note - I'm disappointed at not signing a quality striker but I think we have more than enough to win this tie rather comfortably. Apart from the travelling involved we could have had a worse draw. All this about us underestimating them is bollox, nobody knows enough about them to say that. After CL qualification there will be signings made, I am 100% confident of that.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Aug 2013 18:40:45
Ed is there any possible deals in the pipeline before tonight's CL deadline?

MikeyBhoy88 {Ed007's Note - I seriously doubt it Mikey.}

evening ed and timalloy, I would have effe in at right back instead of mathews., kayal in the middle and probably forrest instead of balde to start with anyway, another night of stress to look forward to, they somehow must get the nerves settled so they can pass the way we know they can, anyhoo will be back on after the game to get everybodies thoughts cheers .Ths

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't have Ambrose anywhere the team. The guys a total bombscare.

hoopey67

If the plastic pitch is anything like elfsborg's I would play balde in front of samaras and keep it as much OFF the deck as possible!

Its on ITV4, 3.45pm coverage starts.

Thinking of game tomorrow and I think Lennon will adopt a cautious approach because of their height advantage and plastic pitch, to combat all the high balls I would put out this Celtic team.
Forster,
Mathews, Lustig, Myoukolo, Mulgrew,
Brown, Ambrose,
Commons, Ledley, Samaras,
Balde

Subs, Vandijk, Boerigter, Forrest, Izziguirre,
Kayal, Stokes, Zaluska

Give us your thoughts? Timalloy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tim, I would like to see Celtic start with an out and out Centre Forward but I think Balde will be on the bench and Kayal will be in midfield.

I think I said yesterday, I wasn't sure who Neil Lennon will go with Lustig or Matthews but he could push Lustig into CB as you've said and drop Izzy.

Here's hoping we take a no nonsense approach and no sloppy passing! ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Mines would be

Forster

Lustig Van Dijk Mulgrew Matthews

Brown ledley

Forrest commons samaras

Balde

Darrenbhoy

Van dijk should be ready for this game, but more than likely Sammy will be up front Forrest on the left and boriggter on the right

Just read that the team we are playing tomorrow sacrificed a sheep at the stadium for good luck or something ha! We already pumped the sheep 0-2 at the weekend so it's all good. Gandalf the green

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bannon yes
Hutton NO

Hutton - No chance
Bannon - yes but then I would say he plays in the same position as Commons and Rodgic so would he get a game

Did anyone catch tv on saturday? I can't remember who was covering the southampton game, but they were talking about Big Vic.

Stelling asked "does he look like a 12 million pound player?"

The reply was "He looks like a £20m player"

Good on you big man! {Ed007's Note - It was Paul Merson.}

I know this will np be shot down in flames lol but why don't we sign stevie may? The boy looks like he could be a real talent and what would he cost 500k? What you all think? Even loan him back out. I know we need better acquisitions but the boy knows how to find the back of the net!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate was thinking the same myself
Gordybhoy44

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate I am a celtic fan but I work as a football reporter and covered the st Johnstone game on Saturday, he was excellent. Everytime he got the ball looked like he was going to create or score. Very impressive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Since we're on sfpl players what about billy McKay 24 yo and scores with most chances he gets . Not seen that much of him so don't know what his all round games like but I do c him score most weeks . Any info. Hail hail

Just want to say great site. I know this sounds totally absurd, but why no try a cheeky loan bid for Wayne Rooney! If he's that unhappy at present it might do him and man united the world of good. This would give him time to decide on his future even if his wages work out at 3 mill Celtic would 10 folds that with the media hype and merchandise alone. He has all the experience that we need short term it would really light up Scottish football again. Pipe dreams I know but imagine if this came true the possibilities of a transfer like this would be groundbreaking for the whole football word

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No a great fan of loan moves myself. Anyway, why bring in Rooney when we just let McCourt go! Makes no sense.
(That tounge is hurting my cheek).

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooneys a big celtic fan, but NO WAY would he move to Scotland, not a chance the mans at the peak of his career champions league at Celtic yeah but no way would we even try that be good but be realistic lol. Gandalf the green

Agree0 Disagree0

He's probably on a hundred and fifty grand a week m8, we can dream though!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 fold eh that would be 30 mil why don't we just buy him for 25 mil and well have the other 5 for his wages for that year and we can sell him back and make 25 mil.easy money hail hail
Cha67

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that stupid a suggestion. We know he won't come here but look at the bigger picture. The only bad publicity is NO publicity (OK, I know being termed a Paedo or associated with sevco is a non-starter, but you get the drift). Can you imagine how far around the globe a bid by Celtic would travel? The 'tic name would be on many lips of people who have never heard of Celtic, at least for a wee while.

I know we all don't want loan signings but if Chelsea get Rooney really think we should go for demba ba on loan as he would be surplus because they would have 5 strikers! Thoughts!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would like that. Jose has a soft spot for celtic so maybe we'd be in luck, champions league for ba as well I don't think he's played champions league before because Chelsea went out before he joined.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure about wages but with the money we have we could maybe make a bid for him.

I think we are going to get the "We tried, but could not compete with epl ect" I as a season ticket holder for many a year, am totally disgusted by the boards actions, and don't give me the usual pish do you want us to end up like sevco and we are in a healthy state of affairs. We have sold the spine bone of our squad and heading into a possible £20 million jackpot, BUT PL has decided to hold the purse strings, remember 2003/04 after seville, we needed strengthening, a few players would have made a big difference that season, the board failed us then and are doing the same now. If we go out to this team from boratland, the blame lies with the board.
John88

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If stories are to be believed we've bid for about 4 players over the last week so the board are definitely working hard. Just because we have money doesn't mean we should pay more than the going rate. And your Borat comment was just plain daft, let's judge the board at the end of the transfer window and if you're still not happy you can vent your disgust then
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Op you seem to forget that we have bid more money then normal in the past to get the players we want. When was the last time we were bidding 3-5 mill on a player? Not since I have been a fan for over 10 years, already 6 mill or so on three players and had 4mill bid rejected form the board and a player. Excited to see the new ones more so the dutch players we have in action as they look great. I too want players in, especially strikers, but I will wait to see before going nuts because I do believe the board is working the back scenes, even though I think we should of had a striker in by now. Why would we come public with some players we are linked with? We like to keep other clubs out of the loop so they don't steal a potential wanyama cause clubs are taking notice of our scouting. Players may not be attracted to the spl which makes it even harder. Keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

My frustration stems from letting Hooper and Wanyama leave before we signed suitable replacements.
Now everyone is aware we have cash and any potential target prices will always be inflated.
The managers wish-list is now being crossed off one by; for one reason or another but that may change if we negotiate the Shakhtyor games and we become a more attractive option?
The difficulty of attracting good players to our inferior league and the leaking of any prospective new face obviously makes it tough. However;
We do have some new faces that are still to make an impact and they appear to be promising. But a class poacher and creative midfielder would complete the squad in my opinion.
