I don’t believe for a minute the Daily Record’s report that Dermot Desmond offered to double Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man. Utd. salary to join Celtic. I’m of the opinion that if the report can be accredited to Desmond, then it’s nothing more than an attempt for Desmond to ingratiate himself to the Celtic support.

Desmond pops up from time to time and spouts utter pish! The one about the current team beating the Seville team was the best of the lot! And the old ‘British league’ getting spouted again! I personally don’t listen to a word he says!

Well let's see if Alex Ferguson calls him out. @Milngaviecelts
Then we will know as someone in the media will ask him as we never know what goes on behind the scenes at Celtic we have never known. So let's all stop assuming we do.

Mallythetally, we have fans who can listen in to Private Conversations that our major Shareholder makes . We are so lucky we have these people to keep us informed of all the major happenings at our club.

The young winger Samual is playing tonight for QPR and is showing some nice touches. he has won the penalty for them, Dykes converted.
Samual could offer an alternative to Forrest although he looks as if he cold play either wing.

A lad I work with Jonace is a QPR season ticket holder and rates him. Apparently he's very quick and with improved coaching/ playing alongside better players, he could go to the next level.

Its pretty much established we need a lb or wb. If Doughty is the man fair enough he looks a good player. But do u think we should more patient and maybe get better from epl on loan. For eg Ryan Sessignon is a great player and similar to Frimpong in that he is very quick and skillfull and would bring good balance.
Its obviously a big season and the better the player we can get the more chance we got.
Just wondered if its vital for quickness or better to be patient. don't know when epl need to put squads in. Maybe you know ed?

So when we were trying to stop oldco getting 10 then we tried apparently to get Alex Ferguson but when we are going for 10 we are relying on Lennon.

From that I take stopping 10 was more important than getting 10.

I still believe we have a strong enough squad but the manager scares me with the teams he is selecting.

I also worry that we haven't settled on a system and team, best suited to that system, but he seems to be unsure himself whether 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1 is best - from game to game or what players to use?
There have been really trying circumstances to be fair, with the Bolingoli suspension, an unfit new arrival and a damaging delay in finding a replacement left-wing-back to allow our best formation.
The manky mob, on the other hand have had a settled, consistent start and yet, we are still a game away from going top - even for a day?

Ferguson is a bit old now . I doubt if his wife would allow him to take on such a stressful job at his age . Lennon is a very experienced and successful manager and has served the club successfully in all his roles for about 20 years . If you know anyone who you can guarantee to do a better job than NL and not leave us mid season, let
DD know.

No manager worth there salt would walk out on a team halfway through the season especially if the buying team said they would wait till the end of the season. Only a scumbag rat would do that (are you listening Rodgers)

DD spouts pish as he's the biggest problem at Celtic, he has in the region of 34% of the shares but gets to act like he owns the club, even decideing who the manager will be.
Not bad for a guy who only owns a third of the shares.
He's a rugby and golf fan who knows little about football but is allowed to make important football calls.

Had a wee quick swatch at SLY to see if we had made any progress with the Doughty lad from Charlton; but apparently:- Gareth Bale got up at 7am this morning had orange juice and Frosties for breakfast - never finished all the OJ, then went for a crap (using twelve sheets of Andrex) had a 'pits and baws' wash, then was taken to a waiting private jet in Madrid in a limo driven by Miguel Lopez (father of six) etc etc etc
Feck Sake Man! That's Why We Hate SLY.

The Europa league draw at 1pm has been simplified and put into groups.
In our group there will be 3 ties made up of 2 seeded clubs and 4 unseeded clubs.
Seeded clubs are Red Star Belgrade and
Dynamo Brest of Belarus.
Unseeded clubs are Celtic
Ludogorets of Bulgaria
Sarajevo/ Buducnost (Montenegro)
Ararat (Armenia) / Celje (Slovenia )
The way it will work out Celtic will have a 2 in 3 chance of getting a seeded club and a 1 in 3 chance of getting an unseeded club.

The playoff draw will be at 1pm today.
In our draw there will be 16 clubs of which 5 clubs are seeded.
The ties involving the 5 seeded clubs will be drawn first and the remaining 6 unseeded clubs will be drawn against each other.
It means Celtic could in fact be drawn against any of the other 15 clubs in the draw today.
Also Sevco have a one in four chance of drawing Spurs if they can get past the Dutch.

Europe is a negative distraction for us. We always fail miserably against average sides. It's difficulty for me to think it, never mind say it, but I really couldn't care less if we lose that one. HH.

Bestyboy. We lose those games because we take it for granted we're going to win. We don't respect the opposition. Ala England WC semi final against Croatia. We do it all the time not respecting the opposition. British mentality. Ock this tie is a doddle.

As a 'Fogie' I remember European football with great memories, when I thought we would beat everyone and anyone - especially with the players that coined the term 'Celtic Class', plus our unique Celtic Park atmosphere. There was a time in the 70's and 80's when we weren't even good enough to enter European tournaments; but after the MON revolution we got to Seville and had a few CL Group Stage successes right through to NL's first tenure.
Since the we have used the death of Rangers to 'play safe' and concentrate on continued domestic dominance, with only the odd result here and there to rekindle any European reputation.
At the present time, where the CL has been fixed and groomed, we are in a no-win situation, with absurdly early, multiple qual. rounds, when the team is neither fully fit or even complete.
The Board must take responsibility to a certain extent for the tardiness in getting players in place. However, the players have made many self-inflicted stupid mistakes along the way as well.
Subsequently, we have suffered more humiliating defeats in Europe in the last decade than possibly in the previous 50 years and are now a very average EL standard; but we can still hope?
Another thing that should be taken into account is the current CV situation, with risky travelling to infected 'hot-spots' and the absence of the most important people - The Supporters.
The postponement/ cancellation of European competition may have been the sensible solution and Uefa could certainly afford to subsidise member associations - but they can't see past Greed.

Stengo can I ask your opinion on Mikey Johnson mate? I really rate the boy and think he is the most exciting natural talent to come through the academy since Mcgeady. I thought he would be brilliantfor us last season but injury ruined it for him. He was very lightweight and a criticism of him was he needed to strengthena bit, with lock down and plenty time on the sidelines do you think he will come back physically stronger to add to his undoubteded ability and do you think he will fit into a 352 formation which basically means can he play LWB? Cheers.

Hi Markie, I like watching Mikey Johnston as he's exciting, direct and potent. He only does it in flashes though and would doubt he'd last the full 90 mins constantly. I know a few on here don't rate him but I'd like to see what he could offer once he's back from injury. Conditioning work in the gym would definitely strengthen him but I guess he's the type of player who could come on in a 0-0 draw in the 70th minute and run at the defence. Gump, Frimpong and Johnston all running at tired legs could make the difference. I know Chris Sutton thinks there are good things ahead for him and I hope he's right.

18 Sep 2020 09:02:16
I think he is talented no doubt. He is lightweight, was muscled out a lot last year. He has for me a selfish trait which some people say strikers should have, but in my opinion he needs to learn how to look up see a pass and make good opportunities for his teammates and not just try to blast the shot or do everything for himself. He is not a kid anymore so I think he needs to develop this season in order to stand out from the crowd.

18 Sep 2020 13:38:39
Lads he's to greedy does not know when to pass. But the difference he will trying to take players on just outside the box we don't have much of this that's a huge problem as the side to side crab football everytime is predictable.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Sep 2020 16:09:54
Agree he's greedy but NL's got him until 2024 to get that sorted. If he had the talent and the ability to look up then chances are he wouldn't be at Parkhead.

18 Sep 2020 16:58:30
Boy has all the talent in the world but does he have the mentality to fulfill his potential? I dunno tbh, big year for him in my opinion. I’d tell him to build his core up, send him on loan until end of season and if he hasn’t improved when he comes back, then it’s time to cut ties and give the next youngster their chance.

All true lads and girl above.
Just he has to want to be one of the best. It's just the problem with the midfield I don't want to keep harpin on about Broony he has served us well. Imo put as assistant manager learn th ropes etc he already know it's time I'm sure.
