He was a wrestler and ‘enforcer/ bodyguard’. Kinda like Arnie was back in the day before the movies.

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't he brought into The Godfather after the Mafia had made a deal with Coppola or the producers not to mention "Mafia" and he was sent to keep an eye of things when Coppola spotted him? I always thought Hulk Hogan should have been considered for it 😁

18 Oct 2020 21:29:20
Haha no chance we'd get someone like him. It'll be Jack Ross or somebody as equally underwhelming if/ when Lennon does go.

4-3-2-1
When defending 4-5-1
When attack 4-3-3
What's everyones thoughts?

I'd do a 5 3 2 1
Or a 4 5 2
Or a 3 5 1 2

And hope thet nobody notices

I'd also play bain and barkas together, and in all likelihood I think we'd get away with that too.

Needs a settled team and stop changing it play the winners stop trying to please every player have players who do there job keep to that we have enough quality there to beat anybody but he keeps changing the side sevco picks itself we should be the same players must choose if there good enough or not he has enough depth to put it together and results will tell there is a severe problem needs to be put to bed and keep the same team Rodgers done it he needs to stop being nice and be mean to win you need to be ruthless Aberdeen will be hard but he can't keep changing needs to know his team and anybody else must fight hard to play in his team.

{Ed007's Note - Spot on 👍 I said similar on a thread earlier on.}

18 Oct 2020 21:17:41
Get a settled team and use the players that can play at a high tempo from start to finish. Not this walking pace we are playing at the min. When we have played our best in any season it's a high tempo and quick and accurate passing and movement to create chances. We are far to easy to play against at the min.

Lenny is doing the same as the greatest manager we have ever had, in that, he has a system, a formation, tactics in his head, that he read about in the same book as Ronnie, that means you have a formation, a system that means getting the players to play this system, because it has been proven by all the best footballing brains in the world, that the system works, it says so in the book, and the book was written by experts, so it's not really Lennys fault, it says in the book, that you play this player in that position, and do not worry, if it is not that players best position, because Allah will make it all right, and Lenny should be allowed to carry on, if he continues to read the book and follow all the guidances, he will surely become our greatest ever manager after Ronnie, praise him, praise him.

19 Oct 2020 13:05:57
I suggested a 4-3-2-1 before the derby game. If only one striker was fit then we could've had two CAM in behind to support him but also drop back and overrun the midfield out of possession. Moi and Turnbull in behind a striker would've been far more creative than we actually set up as well as bossing the middle of the park and not leaving gaps behind the wing backs.

Hi Ed007. Total respect and thanks for managing and maintaining the volume of posts and opinions on the site during this 'crisis'; just when you maybe thought things would calm down after the transfer windae ha ha.
I know your well documented views on the manager and I also think the departure of Damian Duff removed a possible pacifier between players and management - if not better coaching? However, Can I ask your opinion on the current situation with low moral and even dissent within Celtic park and can it be fixed in-house?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate. It's up to Lennon to sort things out and as manager he needs to lay down the law as I said in the post above.}

18 Oct 2020 09:11:55
Ed are you of the same persuation that lennon must go before this gets much worse. We need a tactical manager not one who wants to constantly pass the buck. Well Mr Lennon the BUCK stops with you. Please don't let the door hit you on your way out
Mr Lawell get the fans a manager who can actually manage a football team and someone who has more than a plan a. Because if you don't there maybe a backlash then you will be next out the door.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Lennon won't be going anywhere any time soon. What he needs to do
is decide what his best formation is and his best starting XI regardless off who ends up on the bench or out the picture, any trouble makers should be reminded that they are playing for Celtic and if they can't respect what that means and act professionally then they won't be playing until they buck up their ideas or get their move.
Watching the game again earlier and it's as if the players don't know their job in the formation, is the manager making it clear what he wants from them or is the constant pointless passes because the players don't know what the gameplan actually is?}

18 Oct 2020 19:10:34
Hi Ed it’s clear watching us on the park the players don’t know what there actual roles are in the formation and with that can’t execute whatever Lennons plan is within the set up! Players looked scared to gamble or go out from there own position and create something.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I used to blame it on the fact Brown was the one controlling our tempo and gameplay but it's not that, it's a bigger problem. Yesterday reminded me of those CL qualifiers where we came up against teams we should be beating but they are better organised and well drilled in what their individual jobs on the park are.
Lennon's team selection was bizarre to say the least and is it really that big a deal that the team was leaked? Imagine MON bothering about his team getting leaked, a daft man could predict his teams if everyone was fit. Again the problem is NL doesn't know his best XI and his tinkering when it's not needed and playing players out of position isn't helping anyone - especially him.}

18 Oct 2020 19:16:39
A didn’t think a could get more depressed until I read you say Lennon won’t be going anywhere soon.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'll email you later on mate, I'm not long getting online 👍 I can't see him resigning and no way will DD or Lawwell pull the plug because of some iffy performances and losing to TRIFC. To be fair he should be given time to sort out his own mess. Playing Milan next isn't going to help but as I said when the draw was made I don't expect us to get many points there, our focus now needs to be on maintaining our domestic dominance. As soon as we went out the CL that should have been drilled into the players heads imo. Getting into the CL would make money and raise the Club and players profiles but being part of a team that 10 in a row, a potential quadruple and then fifth straight Treble would make these players famous and immortalised for the rest of eternity.
My spidey senses were sent a twinkle when I read that DD had spoken about getting some kind of sports psychologist in and Lennon kind of agreed, why would we need that if Lennon's strengths is motivating players?}

18 Oct 2020 19:56:09
Ed that was DD being diplomatic? He must look at squad size and annual wage bill and wonder why we stagnate and don't progress. The reality ( the brutal truth) . is that a decent manager can take a mediocre team up a level, a good manager up another level and a great manager can work wonders even where talent is limited. Obviously great managers and great players at their disposal equals dynamite. We have a good level of experience and decent to good players and a poor manager. A poor, lost, unsure manager can do a lot of damage and this is what is happening I think. I don't know, but that is what I think.

If in doubt you hope that there are enough leaders on the field to make up the deficit. I don't see Brown in that role. I don't enjoy listening to brown's interviews either. They are lazy answers to decent questions. Lennon is a walking talking contradiction week to week which means that he is either forgetful, stupid, or thinks we are all stupid with limited recall.

This is SERIOUS.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2020 20:58:55
Maybe there are too many players at PH and it's a helluva job man-managing those who think they should be playing and perhaps that's where the problem lies. I'm a part-time Transport Manager with various companies and I find it hard listening to all the moaning going on and trying to pacify and motivate them at the same time. Lennon has it tight working with them on a daily basis but he's paid a helluva lot more than I do. I think holding onto them for the season will backfire. There has to be a freshening of the squad in January with more players leaving than coming in - and the ones coming in have to be better than those leaving.

18 Oct 2020 16:22:19
Hi Ed hope your well? Any chance of a poll?

Do you think Lenny will get it right and turn things around and win the league?

I personally not a Lenny fan as manager, legend as a player. I am hopeful we do start playing well and hit a run of games. We have been here before but the chance to make untouchable history must be weighing on everyone involved. Not to win the league this year given the position of strength we have enjoyed would be a disaster imo. I am hopeful all the noise is just that and we get going and stick it right up the lot of haters. HH.

Lennon is playing the ones who probably have it in their contract that they play or PL wants to make money off in transfer windows. The squad was depleted. They started most of the players who last beat us. They have consistency in their formation. We all were on here at start of season asking for 3-5-2. Changing from that with 5 debutants would have been tough. NFL got it wrong against them again for sure. Mitigating circumstances for sure. Macgregor needs dropped for a rest. Turnbull needs more action. Midfield has no spark as Macgregor has his pilot light out. Seen it against Czech Republic. Get Christie back in but tell him to screw the head and stop running about like the proverbial headless chicken. Duffy will come good given time and games. As to Laxalt he’s needing game time but there is a player in there. Welsh will be a good player given time. Rogic is a shirt thief now. Fitness needs worked on big time across the squad. Ntcham needs benched. Give Soro a chance against the Dons. Up front Edouard and Griff. Ajeti and Klimala off the bench. Lennon is a yes man with the board for sure. If Lennon goes now who do we get? No time to settle in and we can’t go sky high as the money is too tight. Thoughts welcome.

He will not walk and won't be sacked after yesterdays embarrassment; as Celtic are a club that usually react after the event, like 'the last straw' - same as they did with RD.
At present we are a shadow of the team we should be, but still have a very important two weeks coming up with EL and two games v. Aberdeen, that could shape the entire season - and his future.
We are all very angry and worried about the current situation and as I say the club will not sack the manager right now, but there needs to be some clear-the-air/ mediation to address discontent and sort out the malcontent moles and disruptive elements.
The transfer window doesn't open again until January, but these players will never attract suitor clubs playing like this or impress potential managers by being trouble making ass holes.
Neil Lennon also has to drop the stubbornness and look at his own team selections, tactics and closest advisors who offer hee-haw.

Agree4 Disagree0

18 Oct 2020 16:39:57
Rapalla we have been out played, outfought and out thought the last 4 games maybe more, we have lost the last 3. They have just beat us consecutively twice at home for the first time in 25 years and the last one we didn't even have a shot at goal, do you think this is acceptable?
There is a downward trend here and I don't think he knows how to stop it, that is the worrying thing for me. His job is to get the best out the players, ok I get that anyone can make a mistake with selection or whatever it happens all the time. But to sit and do nothing about it is criminal, don't you think?

Rapalla. You are of course entitled to your opinion and it is as equally valid as mine or anybody else's. I have never thought NL a good manager. Tactically naive and inept. Also, can you honestly, as a fellow Celtic supporter, tell me that you were happy when the camera panned to him yesterday and he was sitting there slouched over like someone who had just got out of bed when he should have been trying to urge the team on? I certainly wasn't. No dignity and discipline and that permeates throughout the squad. As I say only my opinion.

We will NOT get 10iar if Lennon remains manager infact if he is still manager of our great club in January we will not win 10iar. Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2020 20:08:35
Lennonsoontobeoutofwork it is really quite simple

All season I have been saying that performances will eventually catch up with us, they generally always do and eventually the lucky tap runs dry

His job and the job of his coaching team is to

Iron out the creases week to week
Find solutions
Establish a playing style
Consolidate around a formation
Develop a plan B and plan C
Develop player strengths and address weaknesses
Communicate effectively with fans
Make celtic an attractive proposition
Create pathways for youth ( linked to positive 1st team culture and momentum)

Thats the job
That is why he is paid 1m a year
The most important job at celtic park is that of the manager's

We don't have one that is meeting the job criteria at the moment

And yes, we may go on to win every trophy this season and the 10iar

Its possible

But based on what I am witnessing and hearing, i think it is looking less likely

I dobt dislike the man
Far from it

But we deserve a team on the park and a manager and coaches in the dug out that leave it all out there on the park and on the sidelines

We stepped forward this year and gave them the financial platform to deliver 10iar

" we are out here for you. he in there for us "

Simples.

Hi guys first time posting anything on here. Been a fan of all the posts and banter for a while so finally joined! Just wanted to share my thoughts on where Celtic are just now especially after yesterday's dismal performance.

I've always tried to remain positive even after defeat but yesterday's result in my opinion has always been coming. We haven't got going at all this season maybe apart from a decent win home to Hibs. My opinion we played right into rangers hands with the formation and shape. We invited them on to us and allowed them to control the game without getting out of 2nd gear. The lack of fight from the players was alarming to me and can easily suggest all is not well within the camp!

Lennon did amazing to get us over the line when Rodgers jumped ship and to secure the treble was commendable given the circumstances. But I genuinely believe we haven't improved as a team in the 18mths or so since he has been back? I don't see much improvement in any players under his stewardship? I understand we were missing key players with injuries and C.V. etc but even so that doesn't make it right the team don't give everything on the pitch and not give up without a fight! His reluctance to give new players a run in the team annoys me too! Why did we bother signing turnbull? Exciting young talent to sit on the bench, Soro too not even getting a sniff! Sorry for the long post got more on my mind but will stop there for now lol! Any reply will be appreciated👍.

That is a great post, fair and balanced and clearly coming from someone who wants the best for Celtic

We have not improved over past 18 months and that's the thing that hurts the most!

Also, we are a little feckless and lacking hunger and desire to make that run or make that tackle. we have a team low on commitment and motivation at present and I'm afraid the only catalytic thing we can do to create any kind of change ( no guarantee it would be positive mind you) is a change in leadership/ manager

It's odd having a manager who is very unlikely to leave celtic for another job . why. is that? He is a yesterday man who should move on to a TV career or journalism/ punditry

Even EVEN scotland have a shape and some kind of momentum and mojo about them . that for me says it all really.

A balanced post Jicer and welcome to the madhouse.
Lennon won't walk as it's not in his character and to be fair if he did it wouldn't do his future job prospects any good.
The decision to replace him is one that lies squarely with DD and PL and as much as I think its needed, I doubt it will happen.
NL was a bargain basement replacement for BR, he was available and had been over the course when he stepped in and did a very good job in delivering the Treble.
Celtic have never been good at planning ahead whether it be players or coaches leaving, we always seem to get caught out and it's then a case of making the best of what we've got or what we can scrape around to get and usually on the cheap.
We shouldn't forget that PL made something like 9M on the back of BR and his backroom staff heading back to Engerland.
So, the status quo will remain until it either falls apart completely and the 10 is lost and by that time it will be too late or NL manages to get a system that works again and the players playing to their ability and we can watch the same old movie next season.
I genually believe as supporters we have been short changed time and time again down through the years. Some on this site (a good bit older than myself) will remember how Jock Stein was treated and that was under the old regime that robbed the club for years (Grants/ Whites/ Kellys) f@#k the lot of you!
We deserve better than NL and I also believe (and it's well documented) that NL is not befitting as a Manager of our great club.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Oct 2020 16:08:16
Thanks for the comments guys sounds like I am minded the same as a few of you👍 I don’t feel I’m jumping the gun and it’s not a knee jerk reaction to one defeat off our rivals yesterday. I’ve seen the decline in players and our play for months now but Lennon hasn’t and looks like he doesn’t know how to change it. Even the subs Lennon made yesterday were too late and also was no change to our play or shape with the different personnel. Turnbull should have been on that park before rogic my opinion. Too many players look comfortable as they know they’re certain starters no matter how bad they play. We always seem to be waiting on ntcham producing the goods but he. very rarely does these days. He has regressed so much under Lennon it’s frightening but again what do we expect when these types of players can’t get a proper run in the team to gain form and confidence? We need a freshness in the middle of park and players like Soro and turnbull deserve that chance to give us it. Lennon bought them so I don’t know why he won’t give them a chance?

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Oct 2020 16:20:08
DRB it is the managers job to install the belief and confidence into these guy's to make them believe they are better and deserve to be at Celtic, to be knocking the door down to get into the team and then play them. Is he doing that? I certainly don't see any evidence of it, I see nothing but no plan and mixed messages being sent out. Confusion It creates chaos, that is exactly what we are seeing is it not?
For starters Ntcham shouldn't be anywhere near the club after publicly stating 18 months ago he wanted out.

To be totally honest Garry I never rated Ntcham that highly anyway.

I think he is an average player, slows the game down to much and doesn't have an attribute to stand out in our midfield.

You have brown (who if this hadn't been our 10 in a row season, should be sitting on the bench now. He is to slow, limited creativity and other than his hunger and determination offers very little to our midfield.

Cal Mcgregor is the top quality midfielder in our team, although I think others around him are making his role difficult. He can tackle, he has a variety of passes, he can shoot, he can run and create. Christie has dropped his form recently but when on his game and consistent, he offers drive, creativity, he can give you something out of nothing, physically he's fantastic for the team. Which leaves us with the choice?

I think Christie (if form returns) and mcgregor are the only 2 certs for centre mid, we need to either bring turnball, soro or even Moi into that group. 1 of them needs to be the key ntcham, brown (rotation) and rogic are no longer first team quality. The sooner lennon realises that the better.

I think we need to play a more fluid interchanging formation between 3232, 5311, 433. We should be able to change formation through the game to upset our opponents style of play and offer different opportunities through the game. This season we have been flat, 1 dynamic and predictable. Lennon needs to get things sorted or step down if he can't deliver. But as I said after the 1 game in hand there should only be a point in it and its not even the end of October plenty of time.

. helped us play further up and pin back the Sevco fullbacks. I would also have brought on Ajeti for Klimala and replaced Ntcham with Rogic. Now I know Lenny made subs, but yet again enforced after going two down. ita not good enough. its either stubborn or just tactically inept. in order for that shape to work yesterday we absolutely need our midfield to be at full pelt and they weren't even as good as awful. anyone could see it early on yet NL just sat in the dugout arms folded. hardly inspirational. I feel now a new manager would give the team a boost it clearly needs. fresh starts, no automatic starters, no favourites and no gripes. everyone needing to earn a place and earn the respect of the new gaffer. a change is required now before it's too late. its not just the result yesterday but the performances of late. certain players seem undroppable and that's not acceptable.

A great servant to the club as a player and manager but, for me, Neil Lennon's time is up. There are lots of rumours that he's lost the dressing room, etc. but let's treat that for what it is just now - an unproven rumour.
so that aside here's my honest opinion.
for weeks now (Hibs game aside) we have been putting in real lacklustre performances and lucky last minute winners have been simply papering over cracks. My main issue is that Lennon seems unable or unwilling to adapt to the reality of form and make the necessary changes.
Yesterday is a great example - if you only have one fully fit striker then don't play with two up front. why play players out of position? also, I think anyone watching the match could see after 20 mins it wasnt working. They were doubling up on Frimpong who was getting very little assistance from a very very poor Ntcham and McGregor who were both terrible yesterday. a change was needed. We should have switched to a 451 moved Ajer to RB to support Frimpong at RW wjich would have helped.

Regardless of his poor tactics yesterday the players brought in aren't good enough
1. Stuart Armstrong went to Southampton and is in the first 11 for the saints most of the time, because he improved their team, we have taken Moi from saints, a player that can't get a game for them but gets games for us, that shows a weakness to our progress.
Recruitment error.
2. We need a CB like Duffy, but we don't need him playing in a back 3, he is there to clear his lines and score the odd goal, that's it, not touch the ball more than the rest of the team.
NL error with tactics
3. Polish Paddy is not good enough yet to play for Celtic, I like his attitude but he is clearly not ready, he might never be ready.
Recruitment error.
4. Scott Brown is last his best, has been for 2 seasons, great to have in the squad but should of been replaced 2 years ago, hope he manages the club one day, love the guy, he can't help his lack of pace in his older years, great passer of the ball, great leader, but too slow especially in old firm games. Maybe Ajer has been the obvious player we could play there as he drives forward with the ball it creates space and he can defend, but not defend like a CB.
Recruitment error.
5. Laxalt in on loan cheap option instead of purchasing a level up from Taylor
Recruitment error
6. Ntcham not good enough to wear a celtic shirt, simple
Recruitment error
7. Barkas not in the same bracket as forster
Recruitment error
8. Playing 3 5 2 was weak and lacked any sort of confidence for a home game.
NL error with tactics.
9. CalMac playing deep instead of running and opening defences which is what he is best at.
NL error.

The main issue we have is recruitment, I would rather see 11 young bhoys that have come through the youth set up play for the shirt for 90 minutes and get beat 4 nil off that mob than the way we set up and played with the players we have.
Its beyond the joke, youngsters leaving our academy to go to bayern munich and the like because they haven't got a clear pathway to the first 11 because they know we will buy or loan rubbish foreign players who aren't worth the price tag they came for, waste of money constantly,
Celtic board should be ashamed of themselves, winning domestic trophies because the competition wasn't around was expected, however during that success we should of strengthened and avoided this current situation.
Rant over.

Ajer is a cdm, he could and should of been aged there a long time ago, we've converted him to CB which hasn't worked according to plan, if you read carefully Miko you will realise that I never said ajer would be the replacement for Brown, only could've been playing there instead of Brown, the replacement should have been bought 2 year ago.
Laxalt did play well yesterday, never said anything about him playing poorly did i? I said we chose the cheap option of not purchasing a level up from Taylor, loan players are what they are, i wanted the club to sign a LB and they had plenty time to buy one, instead loan as per usual.

All this nonsensence about lennon losing the dressing room and not having a clue what he is doing was spouted after last new years defeat.

However it turned out the players were just tired and after a well needed rest they came back and showed what they were capable off.

Big Forster aside, we are stronger in every position this season and I am confident the players will use this pain and criticism to bounce back and do the same.

Dembele was notat Celtic last season.

Barkas is a moot point as i already stated Forster was the one player who was better.

@celtic_mad - nearly our full starting 11 were on international duty. This meant that lennon got hardly any time to work with them before the match and they were more tired than their rangers counter parts. Not to mention we lost 4 players who would have normally started.

Realistically what would it take for the board to act and escort NFL from the building? He certainly isn't going to walk as he's nowhere to go and id struggle to see another club offering him a gig in the way we did. The football is turgid and the overall presentation of the man, which reflects on the club, looks unprofessional and disinterested. I didn't play sport to any great level but if I was struggling and looked to the bench to see the gaffer slouched, arms crossed like a bum at the bookies it's not getting me over that hill. From the little I see of him as a leader or manager it's almost impossible to see anything about him that motivates or inspires players to give that extra.

Really like this angle, Philiphlop. He has "passion" and credibility as great Celtic captain. He seems to shoot from the hip tho in interviews and the like. He certainly has never demonstrated anything like the analytical attention to footballing matters that the better managers seem capable of--Rodgers, certainly. The problem with passion is that he's not our mascot, he's our manager. We need a details man, or woman. Someone who can turn those details into a statement about who we are as a team. Lennon's not up to that.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Oct 2020 17:38:52
If passion made managers imagine what Keane and cantona could have achieved in management. Lenny didn't plan ahead, at least not to any decent level, it wasn't inconceivable that our players may become unavailable. Unlikely but not impossible in the current climate. It's a manager's job to prepare for those eventualities. If all had been well the starting 11 would have been easily anticipated. Lenny failed to plan and to compound it he then confirms such in a whiney manner. To me that's a sacking offence. He didn't prepare for the curve and then complains about it.

Where was that yesterday not one shot on target whole game, it wasn't working at half time that's when Ntcham should have been hooked or even in the first half and that's down to the manager.

You have to blame the manager, could anyone see what Celtic were actually trying to do yesterday There was no clear game plan, we had 3 in the middle of the pitch but were playing like we had 2. When they got the ball in wide positions they were 2 against 1 every time, when we tried to get the ball wide they had doubled up and they was no room.

Again they out fought us, they worked harder, they wanted it more and for me that comes from the manager. They have built a team who work for each other and the manager and the fans, while we on the other hand have 4 of our top players who want to leave. The manager said it himself not so long ago, he has allowed them to stay in the team instead of removing unhappy players with the result being the kind of performances we are seeing this season. There are big problems, the level of professionalism that we are used to seeing just isn't there. To save the season there are a couple of options, wait till next window and remove the players that want away however by then it might be too late or remove the manager now and give a fresh injection to the club a reset button if you like. My choice would be to remove him now and replace him. Do I think that will happen no I dont, I also love NL as a club legend but it is plain to see he has lost the dressing room in the same way he did at Hibs before he came back.
I think I would like to see Dan Petrescu who has Cluj punching well above their weight in Europe just now with the budget they have, difficult to play against and good on the break. I've seen Eddie Howe mentioned and yes I think that is a fair shout, not really sure he could handle the expectation though I could be wrong. Something has to be done or we are going to blow this.

Didn't really want to write on any existing threads as I know little to nothing about picking a team, tactics, formations etc. I just know I love Celtic and it hurts like hell when we get beaten, especially by rangers. Even before the team was selected etc I was afraid that we would lose given the fact that we have been poor all season whilst rangers have been good. Add to that the C.V., injury situation and the fact that the home advantage is nullified without supporters and it had defeat written all over it. I was hoping for a win, would have accepted a draw but unfortunately my fears were realized. Thank God its October and not April. I would rather go through a bad patch now and then come good than the other way round as for sure rangers will hit a bad patch, with loss of form, injuries and even C.V. unless the virus doesn't like rangers players. Feel it's too early to call for the managers head or think that he should fall on his own sword as this is the same manager who handed a big advantage to rangers last season when they won in paradise to take the initiative in the league and then came back after the break to blow them away. Keep the faith.

From starting the season 2/ 5 fav to win the league Celtic are now 2nd favourite 11/ 10 with the rangers now installed as 4/ 5 favourites.
Now the bookies aren't daft and will know if we win our game in hand we would be only 1 point behind so I wonder why such a big shift in the odds?
On a plus side, for those who think Celtic will win the league by 10 points, you should get pretty good adds on that now!

Obviously the weight of money changes and reflects the current odds and yes a lot of the bets placed will be by their fans but not all of them. There will be neutral punters who watch Scottish football also betting that lot to win the league now.
Now that we are such generous odds why aren't out fans placing their money on us winning the league? Simple, because the majority aren't confident of winning it anymore.
My point here is that we have went from being strong favourites to second favourites and our odds have been drifting for a while now due to sub standard performances. Unfortunately I couldn't disagree with the odds at he moment.
I really hope we get a change of management and not another 'clear the air meeting' with everything said to be rosey again after it.

To be honest it's hard to find a reason why Lennon should stay. Especially after listening to his interview saying they were unlucky. Yes moi has a great chance to draw level. But when u hear their manager going on about them and they didn't need to be at their best yet they still beat us comfortable. Then that said it all. We have no set side and l am not having the C.V. thing as he has changed the side every time even after one or 2 good performances. To me players don't seem to care or are not playing for him. The pace of play is just above walking on the pitch. No urgency or direction whatso ever. Something is not right. How nitcham and moi stayed on as long as they did summed up a lot too.

Even Lennon himself just sat with arms crossed all game! And then to bring on young Turnbull and Taylor with 7 mins left! Is he taking the piss? It's not that long ago when we were playing them as people were talking about us scoring 5 or 6 against them. How has it come to this so quickly! And let's be honest it could very well have been a 4 or 5 to them yesterday which is killing me to say. Finally l felt for young Welsh who u could see was gutted. Thought the guy did well.

Sack the board, sack the manager and sack all the players, and breatheeeeeeee. Bit of perspective, it's 3 points regardless of opposition (irritating that it's them) but all our ails are self inflicted. We have good football players and we ALL know that because we know from experience what they are capable off, regardless of some wanting to scapegoat individuals. So, the problem lies with how they are being deployed (surely can't all be off form at the same time) and that is the sole responsibility of the manager.
If he is unwilling, unable or incapable of making the necessary changes to reverse things, then he should be removed. He still has time to alter this, but what's on offer at the moment is clearly not good enough.
Our club used to be famed for our attacking flare, now we play like a mid 80s Italian outfit and we're not even very good at that.
We will still win the 10, just making bloody hard work of it.

Yesterday can't be seen as a blip. I've defended NL to my nose is bleeding and wouldn't be disrespectful given his service to the club as a player and manager but the Celtic board have serious questions to ask themselves this morning.

I believe we have the better and bigger squad. But it's starting to look like they have a better manager who can get a team playing to a system.

Yesterday was crying out for four at the back before the game and certainly after 15 minutes. Ntcham why? An unproven striker beside a winger up top with two strikers on the bench why? There was no evidence of a system while they did the basics well enough as a TEAM.

Stevie G stated in his post match interview that they weren't at their best but that they didn't need to be because they stuck to their system. What he really meant but was bright enough not to say was they didn't need to be because we were absolutely abysmal.

They've been better before against us we should be grateful they'd an off day. They have now outplayed us in the last three games. Gerard has now out thought our dugout on these three occasions. And worse our players were yesterday out fought by bang average but well managed and set up opposition.

Can NL address these issues? Not for me to say it's above my pay grade. That's the decision PL and DD et al must take.

But they MUST take it NOW.

JFP, I wish they would

This is an INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT season

The following, surely given importance and context, is unacceptable

Pedestrian play
Blatant malaise
Disjointed play
Ineffective systems
Head scratching selections
Failure to learn from mistakes
No discernible progress
Low confidence
Disharmony
No cohesion
Failure to genuinely witness any player actually improving week to week

A manager who calls everything in a really weird, patronising way ( may I add to his own detriment )

There is a chronic lack of leadership on and off the field and no amount of adidas, museum, and " we're a huge club. honest we are " tripe is going to disguise the FACT that we are GOING BACKWARDS

and whilst Mally makes a decent point about players doing the basics well and taking responsibility, the reality is that they can't be changed en mass even in an open transfer window

Therefore the only ingredient that can change is management

There is NO WAY we are making it to 10 iar based on current direction, no way ( and thus, something needs to give)

Clearly, NL may stay and may elect to consolidate and rally those players around him who he thinks are ready for the battle . I would accept that ie his best 16 . or whatever and just go with that

The issue of course is that the fans are divided on

Christie
Ajer as a defender
Julien as a defender
Griffiths readiness
Eddy's commitment
Barkas ability
Taylors ability
Frimpongs readiness
Browns influence and agility
Mois best position
Ntchams actual ability and attitude
Duffy's defensive ability and mobility
Klimala's readiness

Is there a single solitary player that is getting pass marks at this point in the season?

Ajeti? Callum?

Our manager just won manager of the month!

We certainly do live in interesting times

A new normal

No answers

I just want a committed, dedicated celtic who look like they are progressing and maintaining decent standards, that's all

I will get over losing 10, but I won't forgive internal laziness and malaise and fatigue and bottlers .

Losing the 10 might be the least of our worries Lubo, losing it could mean a shift in power to the Rangers for years to come. Unless I'm wrong the title winner the season goes into the CL group with the £30 Millions that brings in, we will have holes to fill when loanees to back plus will sell to balance the books so. The problem with Celtic isn't NL its DD and PL and has been for years. We have the only Billionaire who takes money from a club and a PL who's huge salary isn't dependant on success on the park. ED has raised it many many times. As for the players who want away or aren't interested' well drop them? Or is that something NL can't do? Stick them with the reserve's, don't play them and their values plummet and you've lost potentially millions for sell on and stuck with them, is NL playing who he wants to or who PL tells him to play, Nitcham for example what other reason is that guy in the team.

Rangers are in the business of stopping 10

We are not in the business of winning the 10 . we are in the business of profit maximization

It was a total incompetent piece of corporate governance by doing it. but surely even the NFL fan boys now see the man is totally inept and tactically incompetent? Right now we don't have a team or manager that can match Rangers in attitude, confidence or fight and when they can come to Celtic Park and win so easily, it's very worrying even although we had a depleted squad yesterday; they did it last year when we had a full team - and a full stadium. That's two consecutive home defeats and that reminds me of the EBT years - although this time we are losing to a bang-average team that have got our number.
I do expect both teams to drop points, but if the downward spiral continues against them - and there is a pattern emerging, it will go down to head-to-head with the pressure all on us.
Yesterdays game was not an isolated incident, we clearly have a huge motivation and moral problem, with moles, malcontents and mopers affecting team spirit in the squad and to be perfectly honest, I think the rift between the manager and some players cannot be fixed as mutual respect has been lost.

Have to say l am starting to have my concerns on our keeper. Yes it was shocking defending by us but he is not filling me with confidence at the min. Doesn't seem to like coming for crosses and should have saved the first goal.

I really hope that the board are looking for a new manager now and get Lenny out quick as possible no way knee jerk reaction The man is not good enough to manage Celtic.

Another game against rangers another no where near close to being acceptable performance. That's easily the last 2/ 3/ 4 games against that mob we've been second best across the park, that can't continue. Lennon needs to sit and take full stock of what and why this is the case. Too many players looking uninterested and for me non more so than ntcham again yesterday. How he starts games is beyond me. Players at the club that can play his position must be doing heehaw in training when they can't eat in that team before him. Absolute waste of a jersey. Yes we had players missing, players that maybe would've started but that doesn't excuse the players that did play and they're performances, but it's ok we'll here the usual crap excuses, play on previous runs after bad defeats. For me lennon also got it wrong yesterday, should've started Griffiths instead of klimala. Klimala has done nothing of note from a starting slot, most his good stuff has come when coming off the bench. And when I hear lennon after the game mention his substitutions never influenced the game, maybe lennon should've changed it at halftime not wait till we go 2-0 down. absolute joke.

Hard to disagree with any of that. Only thing i would add is that you are perhaps being a bit harsh as MOI was wrong choice of partner (all though he was probably our most effective attacker yesterday) and klimala did not get any service.

Have to agree Garry. That is not the first time nitcham has gone missing in these games but yet he still managed to play over an hour. Both him and moi are not the guy u need in the trenches in these games. Even though moi was only ok for me yesterday. But the guy cost 16m but we never see It. Its fine been good against the lesser side but far too often these guys go misssing in big games like this. A settled side needs to start being picked and playing. Not ever game changing with 4 or 5 guys. Guys like Turnbull need to start as other have had chances. Give the lad game time and let hiim show he should be in there.

Lennons tactics let us down today. Should of went with 4 at the back, but league is nowhere over.

A simple 4-4-2 would of been more effective with Griffiths and ajeti upfront.

We have a strong squad that will bounce back and get 10iar. Pressure is something sevco can't handle and they will drop points in coming games.

Rangers will drop points but so will we. Shadow of the team that finished champions last year.

We will drop points over the next 4 or 5 league games, we will get thumped in europe and if we continue to play like this then Aberdeen will put us out the cup.
We are awful, there is something not right as to many players don't look interested.
For the first time in a number of years I honestly think we will really struggle to win this title.

Philtim88, strong squad, really? On what basis? Our squad may be large but where's the quality. We were asked questions of the squad yesterday and came up well short. Zero shots on target and we had 3 of our 4 strikers available. Of course they will drop points but less than us. They have a tried and tested system, we don't. First goal was school boy defending. Ajer steps out with hand up Duffy drops deep. That's down to poor coaching and/ or decision making. And they have a goalie that will save them points like we did last year, we don't.

The problem we have with 4 at the back is there was no one for right wing unless you played dembele or someone out of position.

We are under real pressure to win this league they look more solid and have a decent pool of players who play consistently. lenny is always chopping and changing.

I have to agree with Jonbhoy71 although it annoys me to say it.
Looking over fixtures to the next Rangers game, I reckon unless our play improves we could be 11 points behind, although hopefully that won't be the case.
Too many players either not interested, off form or not happy with management / tactics.

I know I'll probably get pelters but we have two options.
1. We stick with NL until the next Rangers game and hope he turns it round and if we are miles behind at this point, change the management team at that point and give the new man a few months to assess what he has at his disposal.
2. Bin NL now and hope the new man can get all these unhappy players back onside for the rest of the season and then see what players want to remain and those who see themselves elsewhere out the door.

Our team is powderpuff, Brown needs taken out the team, we don't have one decent defender and too early to judge the keeper, but early signs are not good.
Who should we appoint as our new manager, because we will have a new one, either very soon or at the end of the season.
Do we go for someone like Eddie Howe or do we push the boat out and get Rafa?

Whoever our next manager is, he needs to be more tactically aware than NL.
