Iv got to say from what our new man has said in the media iv been impressed! It doesn't seem like it's just churned up nonesence, it seems to me like he knows what he wants and sounds very phylisophical about his approach! Only time will tell but iv got a good feeling about him! If he can get more of our own youth through and plays good football il be happy!

I would put winning football a priority a head of good exciting attacking football.
I don't see how with a winning mentality we can't have good football also

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I agree mate - he seems like a really good guy, genuine, and determined, so hopefully it's the start of something new, - a more dynamic/intelligent team. I'm looking forward to a fresh start, I gave my season ticket to my nephew last year, I just didn't enjoy watching us play, it was like watching a typical British team, or a championship team, hopefully better days ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Winning is important but I felt it was the same team every week towards the end with Lennon and no time for subs to make an impact! If we play better football and give guys a chance I'm sure we will win plenty. I can't see us spending any great amount on players by the appointment of Ronnie as an indication but youth players can be like a new signing.

Ronny Deila speaking about new signings:

"If you are going to play for Celtic you need to be Champions League standard and Norway is far away from that, " he said.

"We'll see where the best players are, we're going to go after talent, players who have the quality or who can get it. That's hard but we have a very good scouting department. We will see if they are Norwegian. I hope they are Scottish, that's the best thing.

"We are going to do everything we can to be well prepared. The squad has been together for many years and we're going to use the time we have now to get to know each other. In the beginning we need to play on the same things Neil Lennon did so well last year, if we are going to make some changes we will do it over time, so I feel confident about that."

Let's hope so. There's a decent basis, just a few areas where CL quality needs to be added. Is it just the same scheidt from a different mouth though? I don't know why we haven't brought in the right bracket of player lately. Did the board not trust NL to? Did they just not see a need to? Whatever, hopefully it does change and not just another load of bull.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need to get a quality centre half in straight away - Ambrose is away/Mulgrew will probably cover at Left back with Izzy being away also, but Southampton supposedly want Virgil, and it would just be typical for them to come in before a qualifier, and us as usual haven't thought ahead. we've been short at Centre back for about a year. A top drawer no 9 would be nice too, with about 10 leaving! We will have a squad of about 30/35 with Watt/Irvine/Atajic/Rogic/Chalmers/McGregor etc etc all returning, most are average though. A squad of about 20 is ideal, but with all being equally good(first team picks)so if you freshen up the team the level doesn't drop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not heard of any new manager who does not talk up his hopes and aspirations for the future. That said, the decisions have been made and appointments put in place. Results and quality of football will tell over time. I wish the new management team all the best and look forward to what it brings. Hail Hail

As far as the SPFL goes, the first few will be a good test for RD/JC superstar

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. I'm in Turkey the first two weeks of August, so the first game being postponed suits me. Decent for the fans as well - trips to Perth, Inverness and Dundee in August should be right good!

Good start fixtures hamiltonbhoy

We have JC now, which wouldn't have been my pick, nevertheless, he's here and I will be right behind him, what we are forgetting is he is only number 2 to Ronny, who is the main man. No matter who we have has to be better than Lennon, who incidentally has had nothing good to say about a Celtic player at the World Cup, all of which he signed!

Ps. Looking at the below posts regarding Strachan, I can honestly say I have never seen ED say a bad word about him and trust me. he has said a few bad words about folk!
Strachan was our best manager since Big Jock bar none!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I never have, Joe, I don't even hold being a ginger against Strachan! He was a great manager for us but sadly he wasn't 'one of our own' as seems to be an important factor in working for CFC to some.}

I have to agree with you Ed WGS was a good Manager for Celtic working in difficult financial circumstances he did a great job, and those who didn't like him because he wasn't Celtic minded before he joined shouldn't call themselves Celtic fans .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd have taken Strachan back this summer no problems, if John Park ever leaves I would be delighted to see the board try and get Strachan in to over see things. I was disappointed that the board couldn't talk him into coming back in 2011 to mentor NL, things could have been a lot different if that had happened, for a start Strachan would have helped NL keep his focus on the important things, like the football.}

All this "celtic minded" pi$h really grinds my gears. I couldn't care less the history of a manager/coach, as long as he gets the results, wins trophies, is suitably experienced and does a good job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jo, Wee Lennon hasn't had a good word to say about any of the Celtic players cause the performance of their Teams have been crap, which implies they have been crap.
WGS was a great manager and was treated very unfairly. I can see him returning one day.
Ronny and JC are are great combination cause like it or lump it our Board for whatever their reasons will not Overinvest in our pish league so signings will be at a minimum with none over £3M. I like the look of our squad and I think JC will be able to bring the best out of Tony Watt, he undoubtably has the talent just needs the guidance, over to you JC. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

I think WGS simply ran out of steam like a good few Celtic managers do after a few years in the job. The pressure of continued success and good football with quality players is hard enough - but they also get the added garbage of sectarianism, media biased, SFA/SPFL jiggery pokery and our own fickle fans.
His record will always stand up against many so-called Celtic minded managers and I too would welcome him back any time; he has forgotten more about football than many mangers will ever learn.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same DN, I'd rather we sign an unknown player because of their record / ability than someone purely because he's a Celtic man.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you'd be ok with butcher or billy Davies or someone like WGS who despite doing really well was not accepted by a large part of the support, I can just here the cries if things went tits up "we should have brought in our own "you can't have it both ways

Agree0 Disagree0

I was going to say what annoys me but it doesn't its just something I've noticed.

I've not seen Strachan slagged off on these pages, no.

However what I have noticed among supporters, is this selective memory. Strachan did have an uneasy relationship with the fans and Fergus McCann was booed but nobody can seem to admit they were part of it for whatever reason. It could be the case only a very low minority of fans use online forums and social media?

In Strachan's first game he was beaten 5-0 by Bratislava, he was an ex-Aberdeen player, Bobo Balde was getting paid £28,000 to sit in the stand, a poor relationship with McGeady, a lot were not happy with the style of football (I remember this but not enough to elaborate), there was signings like Gravesen from Real Madrid and Donati who had previously played with AC Milan which didn't work out and many flet although he didn't have the obvious money Martin O'Neill did - he still made quite a lot of signings and spent a few bob. All I'm saying is the relationship was uneasy and hindsight is a great thing.

Fergus had the reputation of ripping the heart and soul out of Celtic which was evident when over 50,000 boos him - what's changed so much that we now what a stand named after him?

John Collins and Ronny are here but if they get beat 5-0 on their first European game - what's going to happen all over again?

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic minded pish has served the club not to bad over the years am thinking about Big Jock, BIg BIlly, TommyB, Davy Hay, all had Celtic minded assistants and all were former players, then there was Wim first thing he did was get former player Murdo Mc lead, Wee Gordon brought Lenny in and the success has been huge this is not to unusual for clubs although it seems to grind a few gears on here

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it is important to have "celtic minded"or scottish/irish links throughout our club as they know what the fans expect and the traditions we would like. Would our club be the same with foreign owners/players and coaches and no attachment to the fans?
We all want success but would you sell the heart of your club to achieve it. There will be periods in our history/future where we don't have any connections with managers or players but it shouldn't become the norm IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll take your opinion on Celtic-mindedness and put it into persepective then, re knowing what it means to be involved at Celtic. Some members of the current Celtic PLC/board are:

- Chairman Ian Bankier;
- CEO Peter Lawwell;
- Director and billionaire majority shareholder Dermot Desmond;
- Director, Labour politician and Bitter Together campaigner Brian Wilson;
- Director and BT Group CEO Ian Livingston.

Are you telling me these men know what it means to be Celtic minded? Because from where I'm sitting, they're very out of touch with the ethics / morals of Celtic Football Club and the Celtic way!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mallybhoy, it is all pi$h. Times evolve and from jist of your posts i'm coming to conclusion that you live in the dark ages where you are of the opinion you have to fit a certain criteria to play/manage celtic.

Ridiculous attempt to dis-credit my post by suggesting Davies or Butcher. That would NEVER happen on anyones watch. It would of been interesting to have heard your views when kenny dalglish came back to celtic in 2000 AFTER being involved at Rangers before hand. I bet this little issue got swept under the carpet because he was "celtic minded". Sorry but you have been caught with your pants down mally.

Agree0 Disagree0

Am talkin about the fitba department HB but since you mention the plc Dermot a successful business man in his own right been pumpin money for the best part of 15-20 years doesn't need to, I happen to know Brian Wilson personally absolute Celtic fanatic wrote a couple books about the History I admit don't know much about the rest but the club still does plenty for charitable causes in tune with our ethics or do we just slag them for the sake of it, av still to see a director stick the baw in the net btw or manage a championship winnin team, av stated on here before I think PL does just fine or do you fancy one of they eejits fae across the city .

Caught way pants down dark ages aye right ye are, Kenny Dlglish was a disaster no doubt about it nothin to do with conveniently forgetting, I was talkin about the overall history of the club, it is littered with-former players going on to become manager and/assistants and probably responsible for most of the glory we've had, or do you not know the history DN

I never understood the anamosity towards WGS. 100% I totally supported his time in charge at the time. I don't even know what 'celtic minded' is. Funny how everybody seems to be all for GS now though. Just saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mally kenny dalglish is an important part of celtics history. YOU mentioned 2 h@ns billy davies and terry butcher. I refreshed your memory regarding situation concerning kenny.

"Celtic minded" is a lot of p$sh. Why should a candidate who is a far better manager than the other candidate, be overlooked because the latter is "celtic minded"?

Im guessing you are also of the small minded opinion only catholics should be allowed to play for celtic? Get a grip! Times are changing

Agree0 Disagree0

JimTim, totally agree with your post. The "pro celtic minded" minority are all chanting WGS now because he is now celtic minded cause he has a past connection. Total double standards from this mob and just proves that this "celtic minded" talk is a load of pi$h. They should listen to themselves and policies they are promoting. They sound like a version of the masons where one can only be permitted if they meet x y and z

Agree0 Disagree0

Your trying to twist people's opinion to make them look bad but it's only you bringing in religion no one else.perhaps you should just worry about getting your season ticket out someone's ar$e?

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you the full shilling you are basically calling me a bigot because I have stated facts about the History of ourclub, nothing to do with religion big Jock, king Kenny, Danny Mcgrain, Davie Provan, Murdo McLeod, and many more all of of a certain persuasion GB them away and learn your history and don't insult my intelligence

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim1972 sorry jim! Forgot your that full of your own importance that you do not take time to read full thread and come to conclusion that I was responding to someone who did not agree with my opinion and mentioned a couple of fuds- davies and butcher.

Forgot nobody is allowed to have an opinion unless its in sync with yours and you can't handle it when you get your ar$e handed to you on a plate. You spit the dummy out and try to dis-credit at any opportunity- without reading debate. made a total ar$e of yourself once again

Agree0 Disagree0

Good shout Jim 72 he's in denial

Agree0 Disagree0

Mally you tried to twist what I said regarding my view on "celtic minded" pi$h by mentioning billy davies and terry butcher. When I elaborated on how thick that statement really was and challenged it with the ridiculous policies regarding religion that where common in the past to demonstrate how times have changed, u spat dummy out

Agree0 Disagree0

You mentioned h***s you mentioned masons who mentioned religion all you ma friend, the dummy's in your mouth me thinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct me if i'm wrong, who was it who brought that particular topic (billy davies and terry butcher) into debate? Just admit it and salvage some pride.you were trying to be smart and fecked up

Agree0 Disagree0

Al let the rest of the posters on here make there own minds up DN your really struggling here pal get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I the only one that thought WGS was'nt a good manager for no other reason that he was'nt a good manager nothing to do with not being celtic minded, more to do with a terrible transfer record, picking the wrong teams, having blind loyalty to certain players, like playing caldwell as a holding midfieldplayer, MON had/has the same failing, same with nl, but I thought he should have been given more time, he improved a lot in his first managerial post, O'Neil and Strachan had experience in management before celtic, I think their international careers will show how incompetent as managers they realy are, I hope Ronny turns out to be a breath of fresh air, but I don't agree with the JC appointment, would rather have had another norseman or anyone, as long as R could work with him to bring success on the park, how many of the current team are of the celtic way?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dn30 look at your own statement @2 you don't care about a managers history so long as he gets results/trophies etc, then mally mentions butcher/Davies and you say not on our watch and then you go on about masons, Catholics, h. s and slag others when clearly your just digging a deeper hole for yourself by lashing out and not realising what your saying

Agree0 Disagree0

What a lame response mally. I will pray for you

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim1972 I think its fairly straight forward that no one would accept a former rangers player as manager. Common sense end of. I mentioned subject of religion as an example of way the scottish football was a long time ago to back up my point of this "celtic minded" nonsense portraying a prejudice attitude towards a manager with no prior association with club. That manager could be one of the greatest managers ever to manage club, yet not appointed cause of the pi$h "celtic minded". Its funny how you have not commented about kenny dalglish. Explain?

If you took time to read what I said about religion in light of above explanation, you would see my point through example of religion. If a manager is going to be discriminated because he is not celtic minded, then that suggests to me a player will be discriminated of because of their religion because they don't fit this "celtic minded" bull$hit. Hence reference to masons (clique)

By the way, do u think Manchester United fans think that about their team? Cause alex ferguson was not "man utd minded" and look what he achieved.

Its yourself and mally who are digging hole for yourselves.

By the way, see when u crawl out peter lawells ar$e. grab that season ticket and make sure its right up the hoop

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know about the other board members but Dermot Desmond in his mind considers himself to be Celtic minded . When Fergus Mc Cann asked him for money DD asked how much and when told by Fergus, DD said he should have asked for twice as much . DD regards all his other investments as business and money making . He says his investment in Celtic is an affair of the heart . We all have our own ways of loving and living Celtic . Celtic supporters are from a wide church there is room for us all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dn30 you seem a little obsessed with Kenny dalgleish so I can't recall seeing him play as I would have been too young but my dad says he was a great player and his stats back that up. His tenure in appointing John Barnes and his own management was a failure but he will still be afforded a great reception at celtic park for me as would big jock if he was alive, murdo McLeod etc get my drift and get well soon Danny mcgrain

Agree0 Disagree0

Can I just ask, are some of you teenage girls by any chance?

Some fans prefer a 'like-minded' Manager and they will get more time, that's the way it's been forever. Manchester United fans did want Alex Ferguson out in the early days. The argument is going nowhere really.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry DN went to bed didn't realise you were still talkin p@sh, al end this debate now and thank The Lord that you gave up your season ticket

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim1972 reason I mentioned kenny dalguish was the fact although he was a great celtic player and had brief spell in charge, he was involved at rangers. That doesn't sound very celtic minded to me and you know that by convientley forgetting to mention him when listing names.

Mrs aka the oracle, was wondering when you were next going to pop your head out your shell. Regards Alex Ferguson, it is a very valid point to my argument you don't have to have a prior association with a club to be a success. We all know the fans did want him out at start (totally irrelevant statement to argument) but he was appointed on his prior success and was not overlooked cause he was not "man utd minded". Perhaps it may be a good idea to get your reading glasses upgraded or take a back seat dolly.

Mally only reason i'm giving up season ticket, is cause i'm moving abroad. Love winding a few people up about it though
