I think we should all get behind Neil Lennon and see him home safely. While doing so let's protect him from the bully's along the way. If he's to stand down he's to stand down. Fair enough. But I just seen a video of him and the birdie song from so called Celtic fans. Not funny for me. It might be the end of his managerial career at the club but I'm sure there is another role. God Bless Neil Lennon.

I’ll second that JFP.
It’s sadly not worked out this season for Lennon,
Inside Celtic Park no one is blameless in which has been a horrific 6 months for the club.
It will show our younger fans to enjoy and appreciate when the good times return in the near future.
My kids first season tickets were the start of our 9 in a row and over the years I would try and tell them at how lucky we were to experience one of the most successful periods in our history.
All good things come to an end at some point but it doesn’t mean we can’t build another successful period.

This season has been shambolic, there's no denying it but NL achievements as a Celtic player, captain and manager over 20 years will stand the test of time.

As a Celtic fan he has lived the dream, can any of us imagine playing in the Hoops infront of 60,000 plus at Celtic Park, winning leagues, cup finals, trebles, Seville and the list goes on and on.

He may not be everyones cup of tea, but who is? He has endured more than any other player or manger has had to endure in this feckin country of ours in living memory; death threats, assaults, bullets in the post and even parcel bombs - how can that be in this day and age?

I love Celtic but if I'd been him, I would have called it a day long ago and went eleswhere for the sake of my family but he didn't. Not only did he stick it out, he came back for more!

The love, commitment and passion he has for this club can never be in doubt.

As a man and as a human being he deserves respect and dignity.

Neil Lennon is one of us because we're all Celtic supporters and we can say what we want, but before you do, take your own shoes off first before you attempt to walk - let alone play in his.

God bless you Neil.

I’ve said for long enough now it’s time for change at the club and I stand by that, however I have to say that interview by him today does have me concerned. The anger, the rage, just the way the whole thing came across wasn’t good, and while I again do believe it’s time for change, he certainly doesn’t deserve to be ridiculed by the media let alone fans. The whole sorry thing is just horrible to watch.

Whatever your thoughts on the rights and wrongs of today's press conference by NL nothing has changed from where we were yesterday - our season on and of the park has imploded so dramatically it's beyond belief.

NL may indeed have had some relevant points but the way he came across was in my opinion undignified and not befitting the professionalism expected of a Celtic FC team manager or indeed any club employee.

I was genuinely taken aback by what I was watching and didn't really know what to think.

After taking a bit of time to watch again and digest all his points my overwhelming thoughts are was this a genuine, heartfelt defence of our club or was it actually the act of someone desperately trying to deflect us all from the real issue, the fact we have given up the league with a whimper under his command. Maybe it was a bit of both?

Everyone, both pro and anti NL is entitled to their opinion - I just hope we can all move forward together positively again, the bad feeling around the club has gone on too long. NL deserves to be remembered for what he achieved at the club not for the negativity of this season.

The rumours of Howe, Desmond, Rangnick or anyone else coming in at whatever level are only that. just rumours, until those in power make difficult but necessary decisions.

I only hope that whatever decisions are made it can be done in a dignified way for everyone concerned and done with a bit of class please.

Like everyone on here knows this season has been a s***show. Lenny coming out today with that rant hasn’t helped and was probably the last thing the club needed after lawell fake apology the other day. Obviously Lenny looked fuming, and before I’m slagged off here, I definitely want a change of both board and management, but I do have to say he was correct on a few points today. He also was today, basically insulted by one of Scotland leading press associations, to insult a manager like that I’ve never seen before in any press in Britain . A complete unprofessional attack on someone in a public position with no reason to do it, could anyone on here imagine one of the papers or media abusing or making up names about Gerrard. when all this situation is sorted we really need to get a grip on this, last year we had the Morelos story made up by sky and other media that Celtic fans had cut his brakes . The list goes on. We need to be a lot stronger before this continues, I wish the lawyer we used to use was still alive as he would have tore them to shreds over these accusations, lies and insults.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

18 Jan 2021 18:59:41
well said quinn that's my point i have been making he was sticking up for the club today on the double standards and he had every right to be angry and we should all be behind him on it regardless of results as a club and fans he should have our backing on him calling out the double standards. on the results fans have a right to be angry at the results part but on what he says today we should all be behind him.

Seen 3 different people in that interview.

1) Looked to me like a fan hurting over the points dropped
2) like a loyal servant taking the blame in order to get a decent severance package
3) a man being persecuted for a lawful decision

One thing remains and that is he needs to leave, great servant to our club and I wish him the best, but this isn't healthy for him one bit, the pressure placed on "10IAR" has been too much.
Our club has to look forward and ensure we constantly are focused on the next chapter as well as the here and now.

Whether we broke rules or not, whether it was morally correct or wrong doesn't really matter a jot to me. What matters is we lost 4 points and that was directly attributable to the trip to Dubai. Ok Julien might have caught it b4 he left but even if so we wouldn't have had to isolate 13 players. NL should be worrying about that not what mud is being slung in our direction as that is what we come to expect from MSM. Bad decision to bring it up when we have already apologised (badly) and have more to be worrying about. Had signs of a last stand to me.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

18 Jan 2021 18:58:38
We all know it was too risky for the players and staff to go on their trip to Dubai.
But I think the reason Lennon was upset with the Scot. Gov today was because he felt they moved the goalposts.
The rumour is Celtic had a meeting with a representative from the Scot. Gov on the morning of our Derby match and we were again given the green light to travel to Dubai.
Celtic done a video of the seating arrangements with the players social distancing on the plane.
When it came back that Jullian had a positive test, Celtic thought only 3 members of staff had to self isolate.
But the Scot. Gov dropped the bombshell that it was now 4 metres for social distancing.
Which meant the whole front end of the plane where breaking the rules and that resulted in 16 staff members including 13 players now had to self isolate.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2021 20:31:34
buzz after telling us and us showing them photos of the seating arrangements on the flight we were told it was ok for 3meteres which we followed but after the positive test they changed it.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2021 20:35:05
If this is going to be analysed in detail we need to know the seating plan on for he plane Lennon said two rows on the plane were required to self isolate which in my mind is about two meters where does the 4 meters come from
I suppose it is also worthwhile to know where the 2nd person that was isolating was seated
Dubai is about a five or six hour flight from memory so does the closed ventilation system effect the science
I cannot see any reason for thinking this is a conspiracy. does anyone really think the government would contrive to fake rules to effect Celtics chance of 10 when the gap was the way it was
Tin foil hat time gentlemen, playing right into the hands of the detractors
No need to cheat the management are doing that theirseves.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Imagine the Twin Towers had happened while Celtic were in Dubai 😯 where was the Celtic plane when the "plane" hit the Pentagon! Can the Celtic flight to Dubai put Man through the Van Allan Belt that will allow Man to land on the moon "again"?
Have you ever heard of Ancient Astronaut Theorists? I'm thinking of adding it to my CV in the near past. 😁

Celtic have a duty of care to all employees including Neil Lennon.
The pressure started to tell following his rant after our CL exit.
About 6 weeks later the Green Brigade hung a banner outside Celtic Park thanking Lenny for his services to our club but pleaded with him to please move on.
The last straw for the board should’ve been our defeat to Ross County, when the Celtic supporters turned on Neil Lennon and demanded that he be replaced before it was too late.
It looks like it was Dermot Desmond who ignored the fans and now Neil Lennon will be the manager who failed to win Celtic 10 in a row.
It was quite sad to see Lenny try and defend the indefensible today.
Previously Lennon has been good at fighting our corner but today shouldn’t have been one of them.
I think the board should put Neil and the fans out of our misery and announce a change ASAP.
Especially for the welfare of Neil and his family.

BB 100% take a bow it’s worse seeing the wee man trying to defend the clubs actions he’s all over the place God love him.

Mally you’re right there has been inconsistencies.

UI no I’m not happy or enjoying seeing the club or Neil hounded by the press he’s been hounded since day one of his arrival in this country to our shame and has had no bigger defender than me. I went to a debate In Edinburgh University when he was getting bullets through the post and attacked at Tynecastle (not proven despite been witnessed by 25,000) which concluded what we all know that Scotland has a problem with institutionalised anti-Catholicism and anti-Irishness. I would never take him down and detest the character assassination that seems to be acceptable including among some of our own.

So the media reaction is hardly an unexpected surprise. They don’t like that’s hardly . But to be honest I don’t really care what they think of my club my team or my Faith. They don’t matter to me one iota.

But NL and PL just can’t defend the indefensible and retain their credibility.

This is a bit like those tennis players, who fly into Melbourne and are miffed because they now have to quarantine, we wouldn't have come, if we'd known, they moan, . Who doesn't know that we are in the middle of a C.V., that means it's worldwide, just because the government, this inept government, said it was ok to go, doesn't mean it was ok to go, the club should have had a duty of care towards its
players and employees, like it's been said there is no point trying to defend the indefensible.

If NL and the players weren't sat in the house we could have picked up 6 points instead of 2.Yes Dubai was a major mistake but the hysteria has been OTT. Lennon is correct in calling out the hypocrites regarding social distancing as in, It was ok for the Scotland team as we qualified for a tournament for the first time in many a year. Wee krankie slipped up alongside a few other mps and the orc player who socially distracted on his own yet he was in and around their full squad for the Benfica game as a substitute. Were was the criticism or reporting of orc players not isolating with him who he had been in contact with. Why wasnt this matter all over the media?

I haven't been on for a few days as my own mental health issues are particularly fragile these days. However, I must contribute to this thread, as the pressures on NL are clearly unbearable.
The arguments have raged on for ten days (and four more points dropped) , regarding the Dubai trip and consequences thereafter.
Everyone and their dug has had their say and the majority have not missed the opportunity to publicly crucify the club we love.
The 'much hated' media, bitter pundits and our own Govt have declared 'Open Season' since the Bolingoli farce, as Celtic went from bad to worse - to 'Christ it CAN get feckin worse'!
We have all had our say about the manager, players, lack of fitness, formations etc etc and have suffered through all of this, hoping for some respite and a reversal of fortunes. Entrusting any solutions to the 'intelligent' men who run the club, to sort it.
Unfortunately and incredibly, every decision that they have made this season (on and off the pitch) have been the wrong ones.

After some Dubai-dust settled on the ill-fated training camp, the Chief Executive was obliged to make an apology - in hindsight - and now we see the manager re-opening the debate and completely at the end of his tether; and whether you say he's right or wrong, he should have been removed from the firing line some time ago; when the season could, possibly have been salvaged; Who's can say?
Whether you love or dislike NL, his actions, comments and even his mistakes - he does not deserve for his health to breakdown.
Alarm bells have been ringing since the CL defeat; the writing was on the wall after floundering in the EL; There were fans pleading for change as the points gap grew wider and wider; but the people that should have acted promptly and maybe even have foreseen some of the issues that have crippled us this season have all been deaf, dumb and blind to the truth - and that's unforgiveable.
One thing following Celtic has taught me, is that when we are down - and this season has been one of the lowest points ever for many - when we do get back on track, it will be all the sweeter.
Stay Safe guys.

There was a moral decision to be made regarding the Dubai trip, the fact the government agreed to it or not, the club should’ve acknowledged the situation we’re all in at that time, seen what was coming and made the sensible decision not to go. As garbage as an apology as it was ( and it was one of the worst seen by the club) lawwell had admitted it was the wrong call, so for lennon to come out today and dig his heels on it smacks of sheer desperation.

UI the comments regarding segregation on plane and bus are just wrong, the rant does not help regardless of weather they deserved it. calling out the government it is just wrong and does not give the impression of a club with a social conscience
We are in the middle of the worst C.V. in living memory and the manager of Celtic is questioning the need for segregation? It’s not logical or measured.
Don’t get me wrong but the other positive doesn’t help either IF this has been transmitted in the plane or bus which implies the C.V. was airborne, very easily could have been a number of positives then where would the club be
Sometimes it’s better just to say sorry and leave it like that.

Mally, I'm not on Twitter - what have they said?

Totally agree Mally.
People seem to think it’s acceptable to give out personal insults when it comes to Neil Lennon.
I include a small minority of our own fans.
The club need to take action which sends out a message that it won’t be tolerated.

agree mate. the press have did a complete hatchet job on us and our manager this season. can tell they have been waiting years for it. every time something poped up about cv with us we got dragged right through the mud wile they leaped praise on that lot when there players were out partying. after it was made very clear its a no go after Aberdeen and boli that's when it was made really clear about players breaking rules yet they still went out.

there's nothing deluded about it he is saying what it is complete and utter hypocrisy. slagging us for some they gave us permission to do yet heap praise on another club for something there players were told not to do. well done to him dubai was maybe best not to go but the slagging we have took for it is a complete joke by the people who told us to go and by the media.

The boys are back today hopefully fit and ready to make up for this calamity shambles which is this season. Nothing will make up for it take away 10 in a row and i think the celtic fans would be saying the same i think cause of how bad its been if it were the first of the season so far would be calling for heads to roll also the players should forget 10 forget the season focus on the basics get their game sorted get a win then another. Then take it from there start to repair their own reputations as footballers and as humans let's get their act together everyone at the club start to try and regain what ever dignity they can muster from now till the end of the season.
