I think it was a recently appointed assistant to the scouting and development position who had previously been employed by fairly big clubs in England .
He said that compared to them Celtic was a colossal club , employing about 500 .
Really massive isn't it

Any idea about the attendance tommorrow ed

{Ed007's Note - They're expecting 56,000 tomorrow night with Malmo bringing just under 3000 fans with them. It's mostly restricted view tickets that are left now as far as I know.}

WE Celtic fans sometimes complain about an away fixture after a long european journey, spare a thought for Athletico Bilbao who after playing Barcelona on Monday have a 2000 mile journey on Thursday in the Europa League, then come home to face Barcelona on Sunday.
Do you think Barcelona would have had such fixture congestion? No, me neither.

Timalloy to be honest with regards to CL group stages, I've always had view all teams should be made to qualify no matter who they are. Its unfair to expect some teams to travel 2000 miles and play game few days later

Actually Barca did just have a huge fixture congestion, they played last Tuesday in the Super Cup against Sevilla in Georgia which they won 5-4 needing extra time and it's a 10 hour flight back and forth. They then played a couple days later on the Friday away against Athletic Bilbao which is a huge reason for why they collapsed so much and lost 4-0, then they played on the Monday again a couple days later at home to Athletic Bilbao drawing 1-1 and losing the cup. So that's 3 games in less than a week doing a fair bit of travelling.

It could be argued after all that travelling and games in close proximity was why Bilbao managed to beat Barca.

Didn't barca play in the super cup final in Russia last wed before coming home and playing Bilbao on the Friday getting pumped four nil on the Friday?

I don't think we're getting value for money with our squad.

I've just read an article stating that our squad is worth roughly £24M whilst Malmos is worth roughly £2M. Our purchase of Scepovic(a player who most likely won't play a single minute of either legs)cost more than there whole squad for example, there most expensive purchase is something like £300K, then some £150K players, £80K players, finished off with some free transfers, youths and loans.

Going by this we really should be trouncing this lot over two legs, I understand that's not always how it works but really that should be the way it goes if we're being honest in general, the team with the bigger budget 8.5/10 is the team that should have the better squad, better players and therefore the team that should win.

Instead though I feel this is set up for a very tight affair which is a damning indictment on our squad imo and shows we have been recruiting poorly more or less when a team like Malmo on a £2M budget are going to give us a real game over two legs with us having a £24M budget.

This also doesn't include wages, I would guess they don't have any players on £3K a week more or less with Rosenberg there highest paid player possibly on £5-8K but that's just guessing. What I do know though is that our wage bill for our whole squad will absolutely dwarf theres.

Really nervous for this tomorrow, can't go missing out on CL football two years in a row. It's not just all about the CL though, getting into the CL will then enable us to HOPEFULLY add that decent quality striker we're missing hopefully a natural goalscorer like Soriano or the likes and also a couple of defenders LB and CB for when VVD leaves, personally though I think we need two CBs because I don't rate Boyata at all tbh, too error prone in possession. We really need to start building the foundations of a squad now that are going to push us towards 10 in a row with the CL funds and let NO one in Scotland come close to us domestically.

We've knocked out the champions of Sweden twice in the last 3 seasons. Everybody keeps making a big fuss about them beating Salzburg but at the end of the day, they lost the away leg 2-0 and from the reports should have been another 2 or 3 down before their big comeback. They will be difficult, all teams are at this stage, but we're in danger of making them out to be far better than they are because of the pressure of the tie. If we play the way we did at the weekend we'll put 2 or 3 past them no problem. Plus RD won't be taking off Brown unless he's forced to.

That's the special thing of knock out games, like a cup tie, we beat barca a couple of years ago, even Chelsea drawing with Stoke in the English league, if you have a well organised fit squad, you can defo produce a result, it's 11v11 at the end of the day.

Well said Kev, they should have been gubbed by Saltzburg who fielded a below strength team due to sales and injuries to the side we faced last season. Keep the Faith Bhoys and Ghirls. Hail Hail

True tam I feel some of there players and manager have been disrepectfull talking abt us I think wee could be in for a surprise performance from the bhoys tommorow and silence our doubters

Agree with all the posts here.

On paper, for me, we're favourites. Just as we have been underdogs in the past. And aye, it's 11 v 11 and it's cup football. They're at the same stage as us, so rightfully deserve respect. But not too much. The team should be confident, and hopefully show some. I hope too there's a few members of the Malmo camp with egg on their face after the two ties. Plenty of our players have mothed off about certain things in the past and ended up looking like a fool. I prefer the horribly over- used football cliche of letting their foitball do the talking. Would be nice if Allan came on in the second leg, megged Rosenberg and put one away. The nerves are kicking in a wee bit and that only means i'm about to watch something big. Can't wait. 2-0 the Hoops.

Celtic forever , don't be nervous Celtic will be in the Champions League proper .
Remember all your nervousness before the last round and we came through unbeaten . Don't tell us about your nervousness and then you won't have to apologise for making fellow Celtic fans afraid and nervous too.
Come on Celtic forever enjoy these ties we will come out on top . Have faith in Deila Brown and the other players .

Digging to find another way to slaughter us if we fail to qualify I was sick of reading the whole knocked out twice every time Europe was mentioned

Bravetart stop being a board apologist.

If you think it's acceptable if we struggle or god forbid fail to qualify against Malmo when we have a budget 12 times the size of theirs then your living in cloud cuckoo land and hiding from the poor recruitment there has been over the last couple of years(If we fail).

There is a reason that no Swedish side has ever qualified for the CL Group Stages two years in a row in history and so if Malmo beat us that will be the first ever for a Swedish side and be embarassing on our part.

We really should be skelping this team but personally I think it will be tight never the less I'll keep the faith.

Ed do u know what Andy Robertson of hull's relegation buy out clause is? I'd love him in the hoops!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - He doesn't have one that I know of but Steve Bruce has said he's worth £30 million - Steve Bruce is a bit of a knob.}

18 Aug 2015 06:29:49
another dundee utd (ex) player youll get chased out of town with pitch forks. heard the commentator saying on sunday that they have or have been asked to take 50%wage cuts at hull

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - most of them had relegation wage drops built into their contract, the rest have been asked to take a cut inline with those that had the clauses. That is correct mate.}

Still can't believe we released him because he was too wee! It might prove to be as bad a decision as letting Shay Given go

Letting Tony Watt go imo may be one of our biggest mistakes as well.

That's why I asked ed because Bruce is panickng at loosing up to 7 players didn't know if Robertson was one of them!? We made a big mistake not signing him back at the time 3m was a fair price!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Robertson's turned into a cracking wee player. I'm always hopeful that we'd be in with a shout when good Scottish players are on the move but lately the money side of things is making that less and less likely with players like Robertson and Jordan Rhodes.
I still can't get my head round anyone paying £11 million for Ross McCormack!}

18 Aug 2015 15:56:23
I know but fulhams new owner can't run an NFL team never mind a football team! I don't care whether we sign players who play for what ever team as long as they come in and benefit the squad! Ed what position does Allan play? Il give him as much of a chance as any new signing but I don't even know where he plays is he a CM? If not I don't see the point in the signing!

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I think he can play in any the AM 3 but he's better centrally a bit like Commons. I've only seen him play once or twice and he never looked anything special to me.}

18 Aug 2015 16:48:48
Getting rid of Watt is probably why we have the great team spirit that we have . Neither N Lennon nor Deila took the decision lightly to loan out and sell a player who had good potential as a goal scorer . Both managers are aware that goal scorers are likely to prolong their stays in a job .
Watt was and apparently still is trouble , that is the last thing we want in a young player comes through to the first team .

Get the forks ready I wouldn't mind Souttar as a replacement for Mulgrew eventually purely for his versatility
