Hi Ed whatever happened to the supposed Iraqi trialist we was supposed to be having in Humam Tariq?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think he came over for the trial, the last I heard his club Al Ahli were still considering it.}

I'm cringing at some of the ridiculous cases being put forward to support Boerrigter's dive. If St. Johnstone were given a penalty for the same thing every single one of us would rightly say it was a blatant dive.

If Derk is to punished due trial by video, because the ref made a mistake, what happens if a ref makes a mistake and doesn't, t give a definite penalty say in injury time that effects the outcome of a game? Does the sinned against party have the right to redress. What if that happened in a cup final or relegation or league decider? Are they opening a can of worms or are they just applying rules for as and when it suits?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No they are not opening a can of worms
All they are doing is implementing their usual anti Celtic bias right from the season opener.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe there's a case for having the same as they have in rugby and have another official watching a video replay, who the ref can call on if he has any doubt about a decision, before he gives his final ruling, and then that desicion is final and no trial by tv will be allowed afterwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is always a case for giving a time out so the ref can view a certain event. I would suggest that like many sports cameras should be installed in every SPL ground at specific points. Each team can have 3 time outs per game and let's also give the ref this option when he feels there may be a bit of concern. With so much money at stake and people livelihoods dependent on results then ONE MAN should not have almighty power. We have seen too many cases where refs have been nobbled and we find out several years later. (ask Jim McLean when he was in European Cup with Utd) In the meantime, teams get relegated, players get released, managers lose jobs and fans start to walk away from what is blatant cheating. I don't believe that one man should have that total control. Perfect? maybe not but definitely has to make the game more transparent and honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

And the Tom Daley Dive of the Week Award goes to our boy Derk. Guys please stop trying to defend the ridiculous. You only make YOURSELF look ridiculous in the process.

Defend the ridiculous? If this system was used against the Italians we played in Europe, they wouldn't have had team the following week. What is ridiculous is the lack of consistency in any of these decisions. Every ball into the box in ANY match would throw up several incidents worthy of look. So Derk has sinned, what about all the other incidents, who decides, like I said, rules for as and when it suits! If hadn't been in the box, and not a penalty, would he still be on a ban? which goes back to my original point!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe make diving in the box a red card offence, then players would concentrate on staying on their feet and trying to score, rather than concentrate on going down at the first little touch to get a penalty and get a defender sent of, and when thy're at it they could do something about all the manhandling that goes on at corner kicks, would rather see penalties given for that.

Ed I notice today that John Guidetti has been released from Man City! Seeing as the board are not prepared to spend money do you think we will make an effort to sign him! Also you mentioned we had approached Brondby for Simon Makienok! Is there still interest there or had that cooled! Really feel we are crying out for a striker! No point bringing in all these wingers if there's nobody to get on the end of their crosses!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Brondby are looking for £4 million for Makienok.}

I just hope we get a cf in what about assombalonga from Peterborough? Don't quite know what his level is but he is powerfull and can score goals

Assombalomga signed for Notts Forrest did he not?

Agree0 Disagree0

He went to Notts Forrest for £5 million - which, if nothing else show's how ridiculous that market is.

I'm a huge fan of Pierre-Michel Lasogga - but he recently signed a new deal with Hamburg.

Another I've always thought would be great (not necessarily as a Target man, although at 5'11, he's couple of inches taller than Larsson) would be Jelle Vossen. Works his socks off, good finisher. I'm not sure of his price though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Genk turned down 5.6 million pounds for Vossen in January from Ruben Kazan.

He was trying to force a transfer to Middlesboro last I head but they were only bidding 3.2 million.

Ed a see Man City are preparing to let John Guidetti go he could be the answer a great record in Holland,

Do you think there would/need be a big fee involved? surprised Celtic never enquired when getting Denayer in

ATVB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I expect Guidetti to return to Holland with PSV fighting with Feyenoord for his signature. I don't know what kind of fee City will be looking for, they have to keep in mind the FFFP regs.}

Afternoon Ed, Ed any truth in the rumour that Denayer nickname at the club is "Sevco"?

Cos he is "The new Kompany"? :-) atvb

Hi Ed is there any ruling which prevents any one person from having a substantial interest in two football clubs.the reason I ask is the story in today's press that Ashley is rumoured to increase his stake in sevco.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It only becomes a problem when it comes to European competition.}

Thanks ed.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Said earlier in the year Ashley would do this. If they get promoted, expect him so sell NUFC and move onto Rangers.

Has anyone seen the sun's star rating today. Complete joke. All 6 and 7's. Not one 8 or 9. Can't believe it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

18 Aug 2014 14:06:44
not surprised they've been doing that for years

Agree0 Disagree0

Saw it mate and thought EXACTLY the same thing. Page before has 2 atrs players on 8 from what I hear was a pretty pish game of football. total joke!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's why 99% of us would not touch it. Toilet paper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Toilet paper? Wouldn't let it near my @rse. Couldnae even burn it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buying and commenting on any MSSM is really only playing into their hands . It's not today or yesterday they showed their hatred towards Celtic .

Looks like Cameron Jerome wants to stay in England.
At last, a reason to be grateful that English football is better than the SPFL!!

Agreed lol, we do need a big striker though. I wouldn't say no to mark janko. Not the best player on the world but the guy is huge and good with his head. Beside pukki or stokes he could be pretty dangerous.

Agree0 Disagree0

Janko signed for a team a week or 2 ago

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's A-League side Sydney FC Janko has joined.}

I had just watched the replay of boeringers dive and I thought that guys a cheat, he should be shown the door straight away, then I thought, give him a chance fine him a months wages and tell him, if he does it again he's offski, I hate that sort of thing in football, and then I read the sunday papers and celtic are appealing the sfa's punishment, I find that unbelievable, what does everyone else think?.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think he dived . I am glad Celtic are appealing . In my opinion there was contact from behind on Derk . Its debatable whether there was sufficient force to cause Derk to go down . In my opinion a player cannot to be ruled to have dived unless there was no contact
Whether or not it should have been a penalty is another matter .

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who has played football knows that when u take a hit or a bump when running it's not always the case that u go down straight away your next step could be where u lose your balance if u look closely at the incident that looks like what happened, and as for getting rid of him for diving that is silly I bet u wouldn't be saying that if we were playing rangers and he done that at 0-0 last min to gain a pen ( that's if it was a dive ) diving is not a good thing I agree but unfortunately it's part of football now and we just have to get on with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

At the time I thought it was a pen but seeing it on tv replays I think he clipped his own ankles his after the initial soft contact from their player but like every player in any league as soon as contact was made he went down, they(pundits) all said it was contact and a pen but the fall at the end was overboard

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone remember Eduardo?

Agree0 Disagree0

It looks like his ankles were tapped - but after watching it several times, I cannot be sure if it was self inflicted? I will say is it was not a dive as there was contact (accidental or not).
The furore from SLY and all the other usual suspects is to be expected and I am sick and tired of Celtic bending over and taking it. We are the biggest club in Scotland and must stand up to this.
Big Jock or Sir Robert Kelly would never have taken all the snide comments and mock indignation from these clowns and the continuing wave of sympathy for Legia Warsaw.
Celtic have virtually represented this country in Europe on their lonesome for years - earning recognition and cash that the rest are only too glad to outstretch a grubby wee paw.

I think he will be handy in the champions league tbh. All the big teams have an Oscar winnning performer. Remember neymar?

Agree0 Disagree0

Having looked at it closely now it seems to me that he lost his balance after the initial contact.He seems to overrun the ball and tries to adjust, this means his weight and momentum pulled him down.Fact remains THERE WAS CONTACT, so how can he be banned for a dive?

Agree0 Disagree0

I read that Derk is NOT appealing . I hope we are not starting another take it on the chin campaign . Based what happened when big Tony started taking it on the chin, Celtic will have many opportunities to take it on the chin .
