Just watched England's Shame bore Barca to death, a performance Watty would have been proud of , the richest competition on the planet and they play 10 men behind the ball anti football at it's best.

Black handball

Black challenges Mulgrew for the ball, moving between the defender and Ki on the left hand side.

In this example, Black’s arm naturally goes to the side as he challenges for the ball. But he then appears to deliberately palm the ball out of play, intercepting Mulgrew’s pass to Ki with his hand.

Deliberately handling the ball is not necessarily an offence which warrants a card. There are, of course, situations where handball should lead to either a caution or a sending off.

One situation where a yellow card for unsporting behaviour should be shown is when a player “deliberately and blatantly handles the ball to prevent an opponent gaining possession”.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

18 Apr 2012 15:00:20
Black is caught by Charlie Mulgrew in a tackle, for which the referee awards a foul. At the same time, Black continues play and goes in on Ledley to try and win the ball, catching the Celtic player high on the shin.

In deciding what card should be shown to Black for the challenge, the referee would consider whether the player has been “reckless” or has used “excessive force”.

“Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, his opponent. A player who plays in a reckless manner must be cautioned

“Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent. A player who uses excessive force must be sent off

As Charlie Mulgrew crosses the ball from the left flank, part of Gary Hooper’s head and body are ahead of the last defender, as is his right leg. His arm is also further forward, but the arm is not included in the definition of offside.

For a player to be in an offside position, they must be “nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent”. It is not an offence to be in an offside position.

“Nearer to his opponents’ goal line” means that any part of a player’s head, body or feet is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent.”

Relevant to this example, when the ball is played by a team-mate, a player is penalised for offside if they consequently interfere with play by touching the ball that has been passed.

Ledley/Wanyama handball incidents

Both Celtic players made contact with the ball using their hand/arm in quick succession.

Marius Zaliukas’ shot is hit direct at Joe Ledley, who is a distance of two yards away when the ball is kicked. The Celtic player pulls his left arm across his chest, turning his body to the side. The ball then ricochets down off his arm, which is in a natural position.

After the ball hits Ledley’s arm, it bounces to the ground. Victor Wanyama, who has also turned to protect himself from the shot, allows his momentum to continue, with his arms returning to their natural position in a downwards motion. Contact is then made with the bouncing ball with his hand.

First and foremost, a player is not deemed to have handled the ball unless they have deliberately played the ball with their hand or arm.

In determining whether or not a player has committed an offence, a referee is obliged to take a number of factors into consideration. Quoting the Laws of the Game, they include:

- the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
- the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
- the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement
- touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement
- hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement

Team for murderwell. Forster
Wamyama,rogne,Mulgrew
Matthews,Mcgeough,Brown,Ledley,Izzaguire,
Mccourt,hooper.
I would hope this would lead to a stronger midfield with the bonus of hooper and paddy playing right on top of the well defence.I also think it is very fluent with regards to subs and shape.Obviously kayal,ki etc would be available and i think that might keep everyone fresh and on it every game. 4 4 2 is outdated. This allows, when possible, four midfield players to attack and a front two to play up on the last defenders

Now the season is drawing to a close it's time to reflect on what has happened.

The lows are obviously the poor showing in Europe, Hearts game last Sunday, the losses to Rangers and the Cup final loss, Izzy's injury and Kelvin Wilson!

Positives are the league is firmly ours, matthews showing up well, but are there many other positives?

Would we have won the league if Rangers hadn't been docked points and Naysmith and Jelavic were still playing?. Personally I doubt it.

How has Lennon and his coaching team fared, just about pass marks I'd say.

Celtic are grand once they are bossing teams but once they fail to outmuscle opponents it's worrying times, worse still is when teams defend deep against us, we have no player with the required quile and skill to make that defense splitting/unlocking pass. Lennon and his team seem unable to cope with these teams.

How do Celtic move forward, I doubt we'll change manager so how about bringing in a more astute Coach, Sort the keeper situation, Get a settled defense, buy a playmaker, buy a proven robust goal scoring centre forward. Cut the squad, get rid of fringe players who haven't improved, cut our losses, get more of the clubs younger players training with the first team squad.

Lets finish the season in Style by thrashing Rangers, oh to have a 6 - 2 scoreline again.

Celtic, C'mon lets raise the bar.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Really you doubt celtic were good enough to win the league with jellyfish and naismith, we were on top when jellyyfish was here, we have had our injuries as well thats football.we were and are good enough.

Agree3 Disagree0

Hmm see tbh. I don't think we would have won the league. Reasons bring: that's 3 games we've lost & 3 times Lennon has spat the dummy & blamed 3 refs (yeah Scottish refs are crap but still) I honestly don't think Celtic can handle pressure we blew it last year & ok we did pull it back more so at killie which I don't think Lennon done I think it was stokes but anyway we got a 'hand' when rangers started there troubles but if it was under 10 points then I hate to say it but I do think arses would be going.i like Lennon & we have had our ups & downs more so with players being out for so long but u do think we have run our luck a bit? I would like Lennon to stay as manager but think he needs to take a big changes to how he approaches himself, I still can't understand why he ran into the park & confronted the ref 30secs after the game he must have known the cameras were on him so why give fuel to the fire ? In this day & age what he done was a offence (pointing in someone's face is now a crime a joke I know) but now he's got 4 hearings at the sfa which will now overall hurt him & the team. Think next season will be the do or die season for him,all depending on how rangers turn out but we need a real run in Europe not even champions league group stages even a half decent Europa run. Would agree need to sell a good few to say the least but need to make the right signings,it's going on 5 seasons now that McManus & heidthebaw were chased out of Celtic & since then we can't get 2 decent CB,we also need a good GK & striker. If Lennon can sell players like ki etc & bring in proven players.

Lenny

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree with every word the first post says. I seriously doubt we would have clawed our way back into the league the way Naismith was playing before he was injured. Nevertheless....its a squad game nowadays, the league doesnt lie and in the end we have won it........there is a chance to push on now and dominate.....a chance we have had 3 or 4 times over the last decade and our board has sat tight thinking no additions were required. A CB to play along side Rogne please as K.Wilson looks dreadfull.
Strolls around the park thinking he is Maldini when Kirk Clubfoot would be a better addition.

Joeshmo1888

Agree2 Disagree1

Original poster here joeshmo, I agree with you totally, board had the chance to finish them tax cheats off four years ago but we didn't buy fletcher and we bought Wilo Flood! Heavens Wept.

Bad Bhoy.

Agree1 Disagree1

When did Naismith become Messi ? We lost Izzy , Broony , Kayal for lengthy times . I don't also think their self inflicted troubles were anything to do with it . We went through a bad spell then they went through a bad spell . NL made some decent signings when McCoist bought crap. I've got a feeling our goalie will move on as he would have signed by now and I worry about big Rogne because he seems to be injured a hell of a lot I also agree about bringing a bit of experience to the coaching staff because I'm not too convinced about Mjallby, Thommo ,and especially Parker. I hope in the close season there's no trips across the world to play friendlies and we concentrate on the CL qualifiers and bring in a few shrewd quality signings. Anyway let's just go and win our last five games so we can enjoy the last game of the season when we lift the trophy.......DH

Just a thought. If,as i have been led to believe,Brian Kennedy is a Catholic,Would this not be a golden chance to stop the sectarian chants at ipox?If rankers do end up in his hands, surely he could lay down the law and tell them it will not be tolerated,or a liquidation event will be forthcoming.I think this would finally end this rubbish for ever.Looking at the gers pages i find it very encouraging the amount of decent fans who are tired of this ulster nonsense............green jhedi

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Wishful thinking GJ,bigotry runs through most of their veins mate, the whole stadium belts it out week in week out

Agree3 Disagree1

As a rangers fan i would love this nonsense to stop, i feel that there is too much bile spouted by supporters of rangers, celtic, hearts, aberdeen for it to be as simple as that. it is drummed into some people from a young age and it can't be shifted. to the unnamed poster it is not belted out by the whole stadium the same as the whole of parkhead doesn't belt out pro IRA songs, its only the morons that sing those songs.

DJ

Agree2 Disagree0

Trouble that this brings us into is that people sing ira songs because they believe that politically all of ireland should be a free state. Bigorty is one thing but who decides which political ideas you can believe in?
i dont fancy the government and police saying what political ideals i can and cannot hold. {Ed001's Note - so hold them at home and keep them away from football.}

Agree2 Disagree0

@DJ;If the morons on both sides stopped and thought what they are doing to their kids you would hope that would be enough.

Agree1 Disagree0

In reply to ed, celtic was made on the political idea that every child deserves a food. should brother walfrid kept that idea at homepeople try and make teams into the political idea of wearing poppies should teams which agree with poppies not wear them? {Ed001's Note - are you for real? It is 2012, move on, the idea wasn't to politicise football, it was to help people.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Well said Ed. This " its not bigotry its political " card is wearing thin. I have many political views but have never went to Parkhead to sing about them. Time to move on.......like 95% of Northern Ireland have already done.

Joeshmo1888

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree if they thought about the damage they were doing to their kids they might stop..which is why i will not take my kid to certain games because of the bile that comes from both sides

DJ

Agree0 Disagree0

I also believe that Ireland should be united but Celtic park is for supporting Celtic.You cannot take the moral high ground against rangers while this continues.I will admit it is not as bad as it was but there should be none.It's the same as the poppy nonsense that we get abused for every year,handing our detractors a stick to beat us with.I was and i still am of the opinion that the war in Iraq is illegal,but why blame soldiers? Yes there were shocking war crimes committed in Ireland by British soldiers,but this was before most of the current army were born.What about the Celtic fans in the Forces? Religion and politics should be kept away from a sporting venue.My own opinion as an anti-theist is religion should be banned as it seems to cause nothing but heartache the world over.Wear the white poppy to show respect to EVERY life lost in every war,cos let's be honest soldiers are cannon fodder for the elite to make money( Carlisle group,Blackwater etc) so why support that? Rant over,sorry ed,but this nonsense has gotta stop..........green jhedi {Ed007's Note - The whole poppy thing is an absolute joke. It has been dragged down to nothing more than petty point scoring between CFC and Rangers fans. Let's remember that it is a charity, whether people want to give money and wear a poppy is entirely their own choice. I never have or ever will wear one and nobody will tell me otherwise, I would much rather donate to a charity that means something to me like the McMillan Nurse or Cancer Research than be browbeat by a lot of PC bullsh1t.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Why does celtic have a four leaf clover on the badge, why do celtic fans wave irish flags, because of the roots of the club, "its 2012" so we should get rid of any celtic history relating to ireland or the original roots of the club?
teams are their history, good and bad.
polticians are all to eager to jump into football with that summit last season.its impossible to get politics out of football because its a lot of people in a small space from mostly the same roots with a common history and purpose.

Agree1 Disagree1

Celtic are a football club founded in circumstances that are unique. The Irish aspect should never be forgotten, indeed it should be celebrated. But remember one thing,The IRA of the early part of the century were heroes fighting a just cause. The IRA of the seventies were murderous terrorists who are of the same ilk of the loyalist gangs. My Grandfather was a freedom fighter and would be appalled at his and many more brave mens memories were being sullied by chanting at a football match..........green jhedi

Agree3 Disagree0

Back to main post - Brian Kennedy is a Jehovah's Witness, not that religion should be part of the takeover bid or even be a reason as to why someone would be better or not. Looking for someone or group to be appointed solely because of their religion is wrong. {Ed007's Note - And yet it makes up almost 120 years of the Rangers history that they are so desperate to protect.}

Agree0 Disagree2

Gj u brought up his religion and then says it has nothing to do with the sport!

Agree0 Disagree1

@last poster; I only brought it up to make a point about the chances of reshaping the rangers fans as it might take something like that to do it.If you look at my other posts on this thread,i dont believe in any religion.....green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

I am fed up with this. Just because i suport rangers there is an assumption that i am a raving biggot how go's around spending my every waking breath huntting out all catholics so as i can shout bile at them! the truth is that if you yourself have this view of me or anyone you do not even know , if this is your default possition then you are the one who has the problem, "reshaping" why do i need reshaped? the problem that surrounds our lives has fek all to do with the teams on the park, it has to do with the minds of the people, what they do at home and how the "shape" their children, intolarance is in every community, northern Ierland is testiment to that, To say its ok to sing the songs because they are political is to belittle the lifes lost at the hands of that orgonisation, next time the fans belt out yet another wee political gem, think about omagh, warington, and brighton, and maybe just maybe a mother who lost a child my just be listening in.
Wibblyblue

Agree0 Disagree0

@wibblyblue; you honestly saying last years league cup final wasnt a disgrace? thats where the reshaping comment comes from.as i said, morons on both sides need to be educated,do you agree?.........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I do agree, not untill the fathers of the children stop this rubbish on both sides will it ever get any better, I have lots of Celtic supporting freinds I sit with them and talk football, I see the person not the strip, the religion, creed or colour of an individual don't define the human being. I will continue to love my club, I will continue to poke fun and make comment on all other clubs as this is the very thing that makes supporting your team so special, So next time you see me in my Blue top, stop and think that perhaps there goes a football fan not a bigot. Cheers Wibblyblue.

If Blackburn Rovers get relegated does anyone think it would be a smart move to go for Yakubu. I dont know if we would be priced out the market for him, but he is everything we should be looking for in a striker. Tall, strong, eye for goal and still not 30.

what do you ghuys and ghirls think?

YNWA

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Not for me.Past his sell by date i think..........green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree2

Yakubu was a very effective striker in his day. Crude but effective. Someone shelled out 18m for the guy about 3-4 years ago. Now he is as about as good as Craig Beattie. Why do we constantly clutch at straws regarding over the hill strikers and players. I agree we need some experience but a striker is a striker lack of experience affects them less than say a CB.

Agree0 Disagree1

Hi its the OP here, I had the misfortune to watch the last 6 or 7 matches featuring Blackburn and let me tell you, if it wasnt for Yakubu they would have been relegated already. Imho I believe this guy would run amok up here and maybe would be in our price range, we have to be realistic too. hes a lot better than what we have already.

Naughtyboy, quite a long post, must haves taxed (oops sorry bad word to bears) your small brain...
So lets answer some of your issues, Celtic's debt like most clubs is managed in a correct way, ALL taxes accounted for and PAID. Debt will be eventually paid off or reduced.
Your directors (Rangers) ran up debts they knew they could not and would not pay, there is the first moral issue, these people YOUR PEOPLE DID NOT CARE.
I posted it was good that some fans were trying to pay off some of Rangers debts to local businesses, but again they did this out of EMBARRASSMENT, but fans like you should be putting pressure on both the club and administrators to pay off especially the charity debts and local authority debts.
As for the EBT issue if you care to engage in a reasoned debate, feel free to come back. But you only appear when Celtic have a problem, but disappear like snow off a dyke when YOUR TAX problems are mentioned. Timalloy
PS I had a wee wry smile at you saying I only post on Celtic site, even when you lot were giving it large over mind the gap and 4 IAR and the 15 point gap I was over there giving it large as we Tims do not hide. Hope to meet you in the cup next year as a third division team it will be a big moment for your fellow bears.

NTYABOW..I don't think the comparison of Killie and rangers is realistic. Your ground holds over 50,000 whereas Killie is under 20,000 so they won't have the overheads rangers have for a start.

Its not a case of strip them of titles because they have debt, its more if they are found guilty of the whole 2 contracts debacle or the EBTs fiasco. This was an unfair way of paying players and probably breaking the rules.

I don't know about asking Tim's opinion on Neil Lennon either, i'm sure he's given it many times on here. What was your opinion of Ally's tactics when you exited the CL, Europa, league cup, Scottish cup & knocked off top spot at Celtic park after have a double figure lead ? Mrs E

Anyone any signing rumours for summer?
Here's what I think we need and who REALISTICALLY the board will look at:

Gk (fraser is my choice, if he doesn't sign-holy goalie rumours?)

Cb - big polish lad and another needed (loovens and wilson don't cut it)..Cuellar? Dunne?

Midfield we aren't far away, would still like an old experiences head in the squad for games we need to hold out..curve ball..Barry Robson?

I look forward to Mc Geouch and Forrest battling it out for RM.

CF
Russell mentioned, Kevin Davies, what about Fuller who I still think would do very well in Spl...I would then add another striker spending 3 / 4 million on dare I say it a Jelavic type. Our strikers being:
Hooper
Stokes
Russell /Fuller
4mill striker

Get rid of:
Loovens (free)
K Wilson (500k)
Rasmussen (anything!)
Murphy (500k)
Juarez (1.5mill)
Mc Court (1mill)
Mc Ginn (500k)
J¤Thompson (500k)
O Dea (free)
Cha (free)
Dan (free)
Towell (has he been sold?)
Bangura-ok gets a chance but needs to hit ground running
Ki-signs already of the contract talks are interesting, I think he'll go. (4/5mill)
Total: 8.5mill

Squad is far to big, get rid of 'deadwood' and replace with 2/3 QUALITY players and 3mill each.
Thoughts..

Ps as for that mess across Glasgow, let them rot, we've a champions league campaign and new season to plan for.HH
