Ed bit of a left field question here but do you think this season will be Neil Lennons last as manger of the club? My personal opinion is that it will be. If he delivers the 10 there is no better way to leave his tenure as manager and if he fails to deliver the 10 I don't think he'll have an option to stay. If I'm correct it begs the question who will we identify as our next manager. John Kennedy will be the favourite I'd imagine but he's not for me I'm afraid. I'd like to see us appoint someone who can take the club forward and bring us up to date with the modern day game.

I think so too Ice Man. It would be the perfect time for guys like Lennon, Brown and even Lawwell to make way for things at the club to be freshened up.

20 would ALLOW Celtic to re group and re set and re assess.

The 10 for us is key but in this landmark milestone season it also means that odd decisions will be made that won't align with a longer term view

For me, its about standards

It's about philosophy

Its about attraction

Its about progression

Its about personality

In my lifetime, there have been 3 managers that have lit me up

Burns
Oneill
Rogers

After 10, we can go with a younger manager who will have the time to make different decisions and blood youngsters

My hope, sincerely, is that we put entertainment and youth development at the heart of everything. rearing our own and blending that with the emerging international talent ( work permits allowing)

The fans will forgive a lost trophy or a gallant failure IF they think we are motoring in the right direction

IF we do the 10, C.V. impacts will disrupt the whole experience. . let's not kid ourselves. players are playing at half pelt and we are tuning in and tuning out in equal measure as the " product " is very very poor. the lack of atmosphere is very off putting

This will make the 10 difficult to do and weirdly, instantly forgettable

If we get to 10 there needs to be new, fresh impetus

NL could go
PL coukd go
DD could go

And we could see the likes of willie haughey come in, along with a petrov or Larsson and the youngest best talent in Scotland, ireland and Wales etc .

We need to look to ajax for inspiration and pay top class coaches top dollar to develop the cream of Scottish and Gaelic talent and see where that model takes us

Having a 60m wagebill is not the answer and I'm not too sure that a 40m wagebill would lose us leagues either.

Personally, I think he will go because the task ahead may be too much for him. Not because he does not have the ability to see it through; but because there are other factors that could derail the season and apart from that this will also be the last season for several players to leave as well and a rebuilding will take place.

There’s been a power cut in the Europa league round 2 game in Latvia.
Celtic play the winners next Thursday.

The game in Latvia has now been abandoned.
I would guess they will finish the game tomorrow afternoon.
There was 45 minutes on the clock but there was another power cut earlier in the game.
They might have to still play 50 to 60 minutes.

Currently, the Latvian side are in talks to get the ahead tomorrow at a different ground, this time at the Daugave stadium.

However, there is a rush for them to prepare the stadium in time for tomorrows game.

If it was not to go ahead tomorrow, the Riga manager has confirmed that Tre Fiori will be given the win for this fixture and therefor face Celtic in San Marino next wee.

I believe Scott Brown has a big part to play this season, not maybe so much on the pitch tho.
We are lacking something at the moment and we need freshened up.
For me 2 places are up for grabs and its left/ wing back and a place in midfield.
Bringing in younger fresher legs in midfield will do this.
We have seen countless times McGregor can fill Browns role which would leave room for Ntcham/ Turnbull and Christie/ MOi and still have Rogic, Soro etc for cover.
It will help revitalise us and improve us, i just don't see how we can improve with Brown in the team.
As for LWB Taylor doesn't cut it for me he is nowhere near standard required.
He made 1 forward pass last night and it got us a penalty, every other time it went back.
If your a right back against him your in for an easy shift, he doesn't want to take you on, he doesn't cross much and doesn't get to the bye line much if ever. We have came up against some poor teams so far and some even part timers and i can't recall Taylor even taking them on so what does that tell you.
Our new wing back has to have pace and be able to deliver a ball.
Ask any striker and he will tell you he wants the ball in first time every time.
I remember a story from McNamara i think it was when Larsson told him just to deliver it and Jackie said well what if your not there?
Larsson replied then that's my fault you done your job.
If 2 places sorted i think we will be fine as there is still no balance yet and IMHO that will be us sorted.
Hope Lenny reads this lol.

Totally agree; but I've said many times before NL will never leave Broony out unless he is unfit to play and although he's irreplaceable as Captain, he slows the play in a very predictable way and we rarely see the best of Cal-Mac, or indeed Ntcham when in the same side.
I don't know what has happened to Taylor since the first home game against Hamilton, where he put in several crosses, creating chances? However, if he keeps cutting back all opponents will nullify him.
If we had a midfield five of say - Forrest, McGregor, Ntcham, Turnbull and Christie; or a permutation of those adding Frimpong, MOI, Bitton, Rogic, Soro and a new LWB would be much more of a threat, with enough variety to switch without too much disruption.

Lubomir, I didn’t think you would come out with the annual nonsense that we are faced early every season that Rangers2012 are going to beat Celtic in the forthcoming season . Since Rangers2012 crawled into the SPL we have had Celtic winning 11 trophies to the **** from Ibrox none . I don’t see any massive difference this season. Rangers2012 might win one game against us all season, but no shift in power .
The only thing Celtic fans have to do is get behind the whole Celtic team and support and encourage the whole team .

About two and a half weeks to go until the window closes. It's going to be a nail-biting time to see who could end up leaving us and whether we'll be proactive in replacing those who do. Apart from the defence and goalkeeper we're well covered in other areas.

It's interesting hearing NL comment on Griffiths and saying he's close to full fitness - but how close to match fitness does that mean? Is NL preparing him for other clubs to put in a bid or is Eddy on his way and with LG, Ajeti and Klimala getting there will these three be suitable until the January window opens?

Mikey Johnston is due back training in a couple of weeks so will he be sufficient cover for Mo? Frimpong and Forrest can battle things out on the right. If any of the central midfielders leave we should have enough depth to replace them.

Nailbiting stuff and just hope Hammond, Lawwell and Lennon have spare legs in mind up their sleeves if or when the crunch comes.

Question, what's our best 11? If we go 3-5-2 it's probably
Ajer, Duffy, Jullien alghough question marks over Jullien and Ajer for me.
In midfield Broony (debatable) and Calmac are definite starters but other than that it's any 3 from;
Turnbull, Christie, Taylor, Frimpong, Forrest, Elyounousi, Rogic, Soro, Elhamed, Bitton, Ntcham, MJ.
Some unfit or not yet given a chance but so far nobody has nailed a starting slot which is a worry. In MON era and even under the Rat the best 11 was almost a given. Now I don't think NL has any idea what his is. Too many average performances.

Barkas

Jullien
Duffy
Ajer

Frimpong
Brown
McGregor
Christie
Taylor

Edouard
Ajeti

I'd like to see a left sided CB brought in to replace Ajer and competition for Taylor at LWB. I'd still revert to 4231 for certain games though - especially in Europe

Barkas

Elhamed
Duffy
Jullien
Taylor

Brown
McGregor

Forrest
Christie
Elyounoussi

Edouard.

Keep saying the same thing' Chinks; He must watch practice games in training and have at least a theory on his best 11 and formation.
Firstly, I think he is apprehensive about leaving certain players out and as well as the left back dilemma, we still have nearly three weeks of the transfer window, where there may well be some activity?
At the end of the day, the chopping and changing formation and personnel is disruptive, when we need consistency and cohesion.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 12:56:26
That's our biggest problem we lack width. Whoever plays wide keeps on cutting in. Forrest is the biggest culprit for it with his pace he should be taking on defenders more but always plays it lazy and drifts in. Taylor doesn't overlap much or beat a man as he's too slow and Moi isn't a natural winger. With packed defences and 2 up top we should be trying to load the box with more crosses.

If we include friendlies and European games we must have played 12 games this season. We can all see the players don’t look particularly sharp and we are quite far away from our best form. I appreciate people on here are blaming the manager and certain players but personally I think it’s a lot to do with the lack of atmosphere and fans.
Even watching the games myself I seem to zone out a little where without fans they subconsciously feel like a behind closed doors friendly. I know all teams have to deal with it, but all our games the team has a massive and loud following, where as smaller teams obviously don’t get that type of following.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2020 11:57:14
Tbf the lack of a pre season might be why things aren't quite clicking at the moment. Unfortunately the discontent that our manager has publicly raised will always play in the back of supporters minds. We were blowing the league away at the end of the last season with what is arguably a weaker squad than we have now yet we still look like we need to go up a gear or two.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 12:05:46
That is definitely a factor and the players must be feeling it too. Possibly when we equalized against Ferenvcaros, for example the encouragement and atmosphere, could well have made a difference?

I think Celtic need to stick with playing Duffy in the middle of a back 3.
Jullian will need to fight for his place next to Duffy.
After Elhamed’s poor performance last night, I think we have 2 options.
Either persevere with Jullian and try and get a relationship going alongside Duffy and Ajer OR we bring in Bitton to play on the right side.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2020 09:57:24
I know it's early days but previous seasons prove we need a settled back line, practicing and playing every week to build a foundation and at present we are way short of a solid and reliable unit with Ajer who seems to want away, Duffy, a new arrival (who has been an asset) , Jullien who NL has said is a 'slow starter' and El Hamed who may still have the CL qual mistake on his mind?
Ajer should always be on the right; but if he is definitely leaving? We should maybe work along the lines of:-
Barkas
El Hamed Duffy Jullien
Forrest Cal-Mac Ntcham (Brown) Turnbull Christie
Eddy Ajeti
Leaving plenty of good options on the bench.

Watching Celtic these days is like having an egg carton with six eggs in an trying to find somewhere to put a seventh. Slow and predictable is an understatement. We need players to take men on and hope that pulls others out of position to create openings.
Know I'm stating the bleeding obvious, but we seem to try same tactic every game and have no real other options other than hope it turns out ok.

Morning. Just saw the highlights of the game. What do you think of the way Eddy takes penalties? To me there's only one way. Can any of the oldies on here remember how Tam Gemmell took his penalties? If the keeper got his body behind it he was in the net with the ball - result - goal. All this baby step nonsense or placing it gives the keeper the chance to clear it.

Definitely Gemmell - not even hotshot with mighty mouse were in the same league.

Was at a game where the keeper got his fingers to one of his penalties back in the late 60's and had to be substituted as he had broken a finger. Christie can take a penalty and so can Gump but no-one can come close to TG - not even Doug Baillie who knew how to take one.

Poor performance last night. we seem to be saying this most weeks we just aren't clicking everything stops in the last third and we seem to run out of ideas. wee Taylor always cuts back in instead of whipping balls in first time which defenders hate we better get our mojo back before the sevvies or we might just come up short.

Some new players still settling in; but I would like him to stick to a formation that suits and brings out the best in the team.
For example:- the defense has been very shaky, so play a system with the same players and stick with it.
Both fullbacks struggled last night for one reason or another and Taylor was given some awful passes that didn't help, but when both won't or can't hit the bye-line it stifles our whole game.
Up front Ajeti and Eddy seemed to be linking well recently and Ajeti needs games so why not persevere with the partnership? -
There are plenty options and talent to change things from the bench if we need to vary the play or change tactics.
We saw some encouragement in the second halves of Motherwell and Ross County with width and pace creating plenty of chances against packed defenses, but last night we went back to old habits, although I do think there were some under-par performances.
Three points - coming from behind - onward and upward Celts.

It’s turned out to be a blessing Celtic are scheduled to play Sevco in the last fixture.
It’s been a slow start to the season but we can still go top of the league on Saturday.
There isn’t one Celtic player in the whole squad who has hit the heights of last season yet.
When the team start to go up a few gears, we will be a force again.
Sevco on the other hand are magnificent because all their players are playing tremendous.
By the sound of the hype, they have peaked already this early in the season.
Will they be able to keep up such an amazing high standard for the full season?
