APEOL knocked out tonight, could have been 4th round opponents, more seeded out the better, still be tough.

APOEL knocked out today. One of the so called harder teams we could have run into in qualifying.

Our old pals Legia through, be good to give them a humping.

I'd rather every hard team got papped out before we have to play them.

The best team qualifies 9/ 10 times over 2 legs so the chances are either apoel aren't as good as uefa thought or the team that beat them are better, if they're beating teams ranked higher than them they'll be worth a bit of respect.

Watched them Legia last night and they don’t seem very good at all.

Don't want to have that
England world cup mentality. We are more than capable of beating these teams in the playoff round. If we're hoping to avoid teams like that then what's the point even making it in the CL group stages as we will come up against far better teams.

When legia beat us at murryfield, it was one of RD first competative games in charge. Broonie was in the stand, and the players were trying out a new system.
Four seasons on thanks to Ronnie and Brendan we will see of legia no probem.

I see Rodgers has said Mikey Johnston will stay and get a few games.

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

I’m glad to see it. Young players obviously do need to be playing games so there’s no point keeping him if he won't play. However had izzaguire never been injured when he did perhaps Tierney wouldn’t have got his chance and went out on loan.

You never know what they are capable of until they get a chance.

I think we have our replacement for Roberts but he must get game time and I don’t mean 10-15 mins as a sub very now and again.

I don't think we will sign another winger so I do see him and Morgan playing quite a bit.

If he does make the grade it will save celtic a good few million. The VVD cash would cover Eddy's arrival and the SA cash would cover Rogics deal. So theirs plenty available to bring in 2 or 3 quality players.

There is no point having the 'Tommy Burns Academy' at Lennoxtown if we don't encourage and develop the undoubted talent we have scouted.
Buying quality can be a boost - as we have seen this season with the arrival of Edouarde, but there's nothing better than watching 'one of our own' make the grade and wear the hoops they adore - like us.
I am old enough to remember the 'Quality Street Kids' and there is a real positivity around the club right now with the 'kids' we have brought through like KT and CM etc; and I am sure we have the perfect management team to nurture them correctly and give them their opportunity when it's the right time.

I’m desperately hoping to see Johnston and Morgan unleashed on Alashkert tomorrow night.

My ideal scenario would be a team full of Scottish title winners.

There's no reason why Mikey Johnston can't make the grade same as Jamesie KT and Calmac. There will be certain games this season at Celtic park against lesser teams in the league like Livi, St Mirren, Dundee and TRIFC where he can get plenty game time and build up his confidence. This lad has huge potential IMO and would rather see him get games with us rather than going on loan.

M Johnstone will probable be a star at Celtic . His best route is to impress in training get his chance and impress on the pitch. When he does that, he will get plenty of opportunities and plenty of game time .
If he went out on loan to Hibs and St Mirren he may get plenty of play on pitch or manager may decide he wants to use from his own player pool . Even if Mickey gets plenty of play time with Hibs ( for example ) it doesn't prove he can do it at Celtic

Remember Henderson was a hero at Hibs, and couldn't make it with us.

Great to see, you can't get enough Tims in the team for me, hopefully soon we will have 11 supporters in the team.

KT got his break and proved he was more than a bit part player so why can't young Johnstone not do the same? Keep the bhoy at CP and give him a chance. We must give our academy bhoys a chance rather than develop other teams talents.

If rangers or Hibs/ Aberdeen progress in europe does that effect co-efficient or is it purely club based and if so would you take a good rangers run in europe for us to gain automatic cl qualification? . extremely hypothetical i know but interesting all the same.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

17 Jul 2018 08:07:11
Absolutely. I’m more interested in our club doing well than their club doing badly, so anything that makes it easier for us to qualify is a positive. Playing Thursday and Sunday usually disrupts teams domestically anyway so would probably help us too.

No. Bury them. Euro cash is needed badly over there plenty more Euro campaigns ahead. This tie might be tricky if they lose one first half, but honestly they looked pretty toothless. The heat might come in to play but if they keep the ball they will go through.

I'm sure I read somewhere that UEFA were changing the coefficient to a each club basis, unsure if it was starting this season or next.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2018 12:33:19
All Scottish clubs effect the coefficient so if they do better then our coefficient rises.

17 Jul 2018 13:01:06
It's changing to club base I am sure. Just not sure when.

If all the Scottish clubs start doing well on Europe, it will be a sign that the standard of Scottish football is on the rise.
