I see the bbc are showing sevco, s game against Clyde tomorrow.they have played including tomorrow four times all televised two by the bbc (alba).for a team, who to my knowledge still don't entertain the bbc, are being looked after by the broadcaster financially.well it's scotland shouldn't be that surprised.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

This has irritated me me for a while now. Point blank refusal to put up interviewees but still they pump cash into them. our cash let's not forget.

Agree0 Disagree0

The whole TV situation regarding them since 2012 has been corrupt and shady.
SLY being paid by the SPL and SFL to continue showing them even though they are out with the contracted and relevant league is an absolute joke.
But Lawell and Celtic have condoned it.

Evening Ed007 hope your well?
Quick question I see we are linked to another loan signing can you tell me how many loan signing are you aloud in your squad?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - There's no limit on international loans.}

Cheers Ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Could we not get our best 6 or so young players loaned out to a team in Norway that rd knows and trusts would play/look after them and let them develop in a competitive league rather than going through the motions in the youth league or sitting on the bench/ stands

Agree0 Disagree0

Great idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have we not got a new youth/young players competition involving 8 EPL and other teams from other European Leagues to look forward to .
Surely this could be good competition for our young players .

Em that will be a NO THANKYOU then for Cameron Jerome coming IMO digging about to see what I can find out about him turns out during his time with McLeish @ Birmingham

He is quoted as saying " Not got round to telling the gaffer yet but I AM A RANGERS MAN!"

Not for me now knowing that atvb jb7

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The fact he is an oldco fan isn't a problem its the fact he isn't very good that is

Agree0 Disagree0

Beyond uninspiring. Its absolutely rank. I'd rather the usual kid I've never heard of than this.

Terrific performance yesterday. Every single player was tremendous! If we play like that on Wednesday Maribor are in trouble. Ed have you heard anything about us moving for Cameron Jerome of Stoke? Could certainly hold the ball up better than any striker we've got but not sure he would score enough goals

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I have not, I thought Jerome was going to Norwich.}

17 Aug 2014 08:35:50
Hi ed, what's happening with hooper down at Norwich? I know a lt of people say players shouldn't go back after they leave a club but would there be any chance of a return from him to us? Still think we need an out and out goal scorer and think we could do a lot worse than enquire about hooper

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I can't see Hooper returning to CFC.}

I hope I don't see Hooper returning to Celtic

Agree0 Disagree0

Yourman, who would u like to see us sign up top, or r u happy with what we've got? The reason I mention hooper is if he's not getting his game down there, maybe he'll realise the grass isn't always greener m8 and at least we'd know what we're getting with hooper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id take hooper anyday over Cameron jerome

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper for me 2

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see why anyone would want Hooper back when we have got Stokes, Balde and Pukki.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very funny NiallH

Agree0 Disagree0

More often than not, players returning are not as good as first time round . I liked Hooper the first time, but I am afraid he would disappoint me and others the next time round .

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally understand the returning thing being a bad idea but this usually happens when guys are past their best, a good example of this are the 2 useless huddies Miller and Boyd who think they are starring for the same Rangers.

Hooper is a different story though. Being away for a year won't have made him a worse player as he is still young and with the current crop we have I would love him back.

It will never happen though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yourman - Gary Hooper best striker we had since henrik Larsson

Agree0 Disagree0

He may have been, but he chose to go and play for Norwich .
He didn't appreciate what he had at Celtic, an adoring crowd, a manager and a team who believed in him so much so that he was THE MAN, I mean our attacking play sought him out . For a hand full of silver he chose to go to relegation threaten Norwich where he wasn't certain to even play . I wonder would he take a play cut to be our glory man again .

Agree0 Disagree0

FFS. Hooper made a career choice when he left. The lad showed some ambition. We would all make that same decision in our own jobs. It didn't work out the way he thought it would but so what. He gave us everything he had when he was here so stop fekkin moaning.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would prefer Hoisner TBH but not heard his name pop up for some time now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone deserves a second chance, yeah if have hoops back. I believe after a month or two he would be back to the Ayer he was. He is only 25ish I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am just comparing the attitude of Larsson to Hooper's attitude . Larsson knew he had a special talent which was nourished and he became a far better player because of the crowd worship, the managers support and the players using and creating as much as possible.
Larsson appreciated that and stayed seven years . Hooper turned his back on that and is heading back to the standard he came from

Agree0 Disagree0

Yourman

I think you are being harsh on Hooper. He gave us 3 years good service and even with a year left we nearly doubled our money on him.

I do believe that Hooper leaving was more about playing for England that chasing money. I'm saying that as he had the choice between premier league with Norwich and the stupid money QPR were offering to go to the championship and he chose the higher level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im never keen on players coming back having left to 'better' themselves and it turns sour on them. They tend to have chip on their shoulder. imo.

Ed, A don't know if you or anyone else knows but surprised it not been highlighted by now round about the 82nd minute yesterday there was a "rapturous" round of applause that looked like say the 19th minute acknowledging petrov .

Do you know if there was any reason for it? was it just to acknowledge/appreciate the performance?

It just kind of looked "out of place" mate atvb jb7

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Aug 2014 14:45:55
It was on the 18th min and it was in support for a yes vote. Did u not see the yes posters being held up?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Roscojef but it was the 82nd Min mate seemed to be in appreciation of performance atvb

Agree0 Disagree0

So what JB7 was saying Roscojef.!
There was an applause on the 82nd minute, not the 18th but 82nd!
Does ED or anybody else know why?
Had you left by the 82nd minute?
I'm not sure either Jamiebhoy7?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Bigbadjohn least a wasn't the only one puzzled by it mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Could it maybe have been the 86th minute in appreciation of the Legia sub?

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha possibly or now probably Ballybhoy, never entered my mind!

According to a few sources on twitter, midfielder remo freuler to have medical at celtic during the week. Also we have apparently had a bit accepted for Cameron Jerome aswell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am sure remo freuler played against St Johnston in the uefa cup would that not make him Cup tied for the champions league if he was to join us Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He won't be cup tied if we are in different tournaments. If a player features in the first, second or third qualifying rounds of either the Champions League or Europa League, he can play for another club in either competition from the group stages onwards, provided his former employers do not reach the group stages themselves.}

While I liked what I saw yesterday I not getting carried away. Yes we were good, but were Dundee Utd poor? Yes they were awful for me, so I don't think we should be settin standards against awful teams. The test will be Maribor, whilst they will be a difficult opponent are they a CL outfit? Defo not, they will be cannon fodder if they get in there so they are our acid test.Play well against them and go thro whilst an addition of a striker or 2 and we have a chance in the CL. Otherwise well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it was more we were on top of Utd from minute one mate. As usual the press seem determined to play the Utd poor angle, yes they were not brilliant but showed they are a more than decent side.

Perfect example? All the talk is of if GMS had scored as the first goal is so important. They seem to forget we hit the post with the keeper nowhere before that!

Agree0 Disagree0

We seem to get the measure of Dundee UTD handy enough of late . Yesterday we could have scored ten against them
My point is that often our fans covet their players and yet when playing against us the UTD players look average enough .

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Gj we were on top from 1st min, but apart from Armstrong (injured 1st half) GMS (1 game in 10) and Cifti( half decent) their players are very poor.We have to be a lot better than them to have any chance in CL which is always our target as league is a given.I just can't judge our players on domestic form there is no comparison.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman

"just can't judge our players on domestic form there is no comparison."

Its amazing to note how your opinion has changed since last season. Was that not what I have consistently said, yet was shot down in flames by yourself?

Agree0 Disagree0

My old adversary DN, this is a different season with a different manager, I just holding my opinion of the team till they can show what they are capable of, we already knew what Lennons team was capable of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman, basically the team is the backbone of lennons squad from last season.

I do agree with you though that Maribor will be the real test. Was impressed with denayer and just hope he can be constitent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes basically the personnel of Lennon's team but with different style and tactics Yesterday they worked very well and we overcame Dun UTD very well. Either they were very poor or we made them look very poorly .

Agree0 Disagree0

I just hope that RD gets at least a year to sort things out regardless of the result in mid week. The movement off the ball and fitness of the players is far better this year still got a long way to go but I think we are going in the right direction Rome was not built in the one day Just saying my thoughts before the game that I really hope we win

Agree0 Disagree0

First and only game for a while yesterday and I have to agree with Rayman. 6-1 is 6-1 but it flattered us. Utd were poor at set pieces. In fact if Dundee Utd were better we would have been a couple down. Denayer had a couple scary moments but could just be nerves. I hope Jerome isn't our answer to the finisher we still clearly need. But without being too critical it's still a step in the right direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tony2bhoy. Rome was indeed not built in one day. but RD was not on that particular job.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we finally got our act together and a few of the team were on top form like Johansen, VVD, Izzy and Commons and others not far behind.
The tempo was the best I'd seen since we gubbed Hearts 7-0. Returning to Celtic Park was a tonic and the early goal bred confidence.
Dundee Utd do have a soft centre and are not up for a fight however and rely on touch players and craft instead of heart, industry and fight.
There will be tougher games and we will play even better with fitness, confidence and experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not so sure about Dun UTD soft spot for us . I can clearly remember them often trying to kick us off the park
There were a few meaty challenges yesterday too, poor was forced to deliver a couple of yellow cards .

Agree0 Disagree0

I sincerely hope that we are not interested in that person Cameron Jerome as reported in the Sun today. He would be as horrendous a signing as Wayne Biggins.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's too easy to look at his goalscoring record and assume he's a poor player. He's a big strong pacy striker who holds the ball up well, qualities you need in a striker when you play a formation that includes only one striker. Is his goalscoring record poor because he's a bad finisher? Or is it poor because he's been playing for relegation battlers in the EPL and hasn't had the service? We may soon find out .

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2014 14:08:17
I think it's a bit of both to be honest. I remember when he moved to Birmingham, there was quite a bit of hype around him, but it never really happened for him.

That said, he could suit the system, but I'd be more worried about his less than stellar personal record/influences and the fact he is quite injury prone.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Jerome would be decent for us!
Tall, powerfull and quick is what we need.
Don't get me wrong I'd rather have Kenwyne jones but that's a non starter!
For those looking at goal scoring records,,,
1. What league are they playing in?
2. If it's rubbish like ours, we already have strikers of the same calibre!
3. If it's a decent league, and the player has a 1 in 2 ratio or even every 3 games, we have not much chance of signing them lol, get real!
If Jerome was a 1 in 2 striker, do you really think we'd have a chance?

For by the by, I think he will go to a lower prem team or even championship, it's already his preference.
If other offers on the table I think he'll choose elsewhere.
If that's our price range? i'd take him.
Every player can be suited to different teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also while saying that, I dare say we could possibly get a better foreigner for the £2.2mil?
Upping the money to 3mil to look elsewhere for better again is still a gamble.! But that would please some fans.
I very much doubt we would be able to bring in a striker with a good goals to game ratio unless it's from the wilderness/similar to our mince

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigbadjohn good strikers are out there, its our scouting system that is failing us.

Im seriously beginning to wonder if john park is as good as he is made out to be. A handful of celtic class players he has uncovered, but strikers is a real problem.

Bangura, murphy, balde, pukki to name a few are duds.

There are good strikers out there in celtics price range.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh god of course there is DN30.
Who's to say we couldn't pick someone up for 500k and he rips up the SPFL!
Which ties in with what your/we are saying about the scouting.

I think we could find better for that kind of money or less or even if the board don't like it, slightly more.
I'm blinkered by the fact that I think he would do a job.
At heart we are all scouts and have our preferred players, some times I wonder what the actual celtic scouts are looking at? Then obviously passing on info to all concerned RE availability and price but it's few and far between now this whole "Celtic class" rubbish.
Were scraping the bottom and trying to punch above our weight, we need to make players celtic class!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2014 10:38:42
Surely it's a bit late to get a new striker and expect him to make a difference in the Maribor games. Whoever he is won't have time to learn our players names never mind gel with them. Typical CFC I suppose

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No doubt you are right, however their is the problem that the club who hold the registration and the player himself feel they have another two weeks to conduct their business . The play off for the Champions league deadline is not on their mind

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2014 00:17:38
Well that was wonderful.I thought we ran Utd ragged and were sharp and flowed really well.Still some concern around the defence, man can that that City boy play, but it would be churlish to pick holes after a fantastic open display like that.Very encouraging to hear RD say he wanted a bit more as we slowed after 60 mins or so, if this is his vision we might be in for a few treats.

There was so much to be happy with.Gordon showed we might have won a watch getting him for nothing, big thanks to sevco for getting him fit (haha). To be fair every player was on it from the first minute and we looked like the players have learned to play to RD's system.Once again a very astute use of the subs.I think a special mention for Kayal is in order, he looked like the player we all thought he would become and had energy and drive which allowed us the chance to rest Johanssen. This style might suit him well, like Broony he enjoys engaging up the pitch.

Went to a few pubs on the way home and it was noticeable that the support were energised and excited by the team. When was the last time we gave them a standing ovation at half time? If this keeps up the stay aways will be kicking themselves. Obviously there will be days when this type of game will not suit, Inverness and Murderwell spring to mind, but I think we will stick with it, and rightly so as it will be easier the more we play it.

All things considered very impressive. All this and the Bunnet as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We were excellent for 65/70 minutes and then with tiredness slowed as to be expected after such a high tempo! Iv said from the start I can see RD making a big difference to our full set up over the next couple of years but he needs time! Let's hope the board bring in a good CF because we need a lone striker badly!
