Ha ha Marty you will all be relieved to know no horse tips today lol My football bets are my usual Spanish bets in the Real and Barcelona games, a penalty, a MISSED penalty, Ronaldo, Neymar and Suarez to score. In EPL I am going BTTS in, Tottenham-Liverpool, Crystal Palace-West Ham, Everton-Man Utd, and Southampton-Leicester.

Let down in my Trixie by Crewe failing to score and let down by Eibar in my 6 selection accumulator as I had them to beat Sevilla and they only managed a draw. Got another couple of bets in but slightly down this weekend.

Aberdeen bottled it again! I actually want competition but we will win the league easily again.

Early days yet and we have still to hit top form but they seem to have had an adverse effect from their victory over us? Motherwell, with a new manager - will be up for our visit, all the same; and I will wait and see what Celtic team turns up at Fir Park tomorrow - but hopefully we'll take advantage.

I got slaughtered when I said everyone's over reacting to Aberdeen's title challenge, Looks like it was an over reaction.

Not Celtic related as such but just saw Mourhino slamming his 50 grand fine as a disgrace and it had me thinking. How do the powers that be come up with the various (and there seems to be a lot) figures, bans, suspended sentences etc.? There does not seem to be any consistency in the figures versus the alleged infringements. Is there a set table, a list of 'crimes' and punishments. Are they in line with labour laws/EU regulations?

No idea mate but 50k for some untoward comments? Absolute joke. Would be interesting to see if they fined a league 2 manager the same. Can only imagine it's somehow based on your earnings.

I will be like normal courts will go by the individual involved earings it's no even a weeks wages for him though

Few sake, how much does he pay for a watch if he pays £50k for earrings?

Earnings related seems logical but unfair (imo) Two people call the ref a t*at and depending on your status and salary the fine is different. Same crime different punishments?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Oct 2015 00:53:57
Same crime, same punishment, if you earn £20,000,a week and you get fined £1000, is that the same punishment if you earn £1000 a week and get fined £1000,it has to be earnings related, it does'nt make any sense other wise,

{Ed007's Note - We have benefited quite a bit from UEFA's lenient fines in recent years but overall most fines in football are paltry amounts these days.}

He deserves it he is always making out they're hard done by he wasn't complaining in the uefa cup final when he got all the dodgy decisions go his way!

Bravetart, you are right about the man. Never his fault the team play crap sometimes. He is a great manager when his team (s) is winning but when things go wrong he can't take any criticism that points to his failures.
Regarding the fine system I disagree that the punishment should be means tested so to speak. If you are caught speeding the fine does not relate to your personal wealth it is set. Why should football be any different when there are set infringements but the punishment for that is different for individuals? Red card is a set punishment regardless of income.
Ed, your comment reflects on my point. There are specific infringements which should carry a set punishment. My main point is the inconsistency in the punishments dished out.

Mourinho has been a law on himself for years, he never respects or accepts authority and unless fines are realistically damaging his pocket he will continue . I wouldn't expect the FA to use road trafficking fines and punishments as a realistic way of controlling erring managers . If Mourinho had a little respect for the rule makers and realised he had a duty to give good example to children and teenagers then maybe he wouldn't be fined as much or as often.

Question to 1 and all. If we were to find the striker we crave would RD still find a place for Leigh Griffiths?

You need different options up front, at the moment we don't have any. A big club should have 4 strikers, - you want 2 on the bench to change things, and you also get suspensions/injuries. Griffiths has done well in the lone striker role, better than I thought he would, and some of the headers he has scored for us have been as good as you'll see, I still feel though that if we had someone who was more powerful, hold the ball up and bully defenders it would help the 3 playing off him do better. It's not just about the striker when you're playing a 4231. - the 3 behind should be aiming for double figures as well. Last year Johansen done it, and look at the difference it made, Commons scores, but Forrest/GMS/Armstrong have to score more. The Croation/Danish lad playing in Bundesliga 2 sounds interesting, if clubs like Bremen fancy him he must be highly rated!

No I think RD is chomping at the bit to drop LG he just has not got a suitable replacement he dropped him every opportunity he got last year especially in the European games

Ditto to Delphic and Wee1888

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Oct 2015 18:03:09
Delphic is correct, playing 4-2-3-1 needs a striker who can hold the ball up and bring the 3 playing behind him into the game. It's the only way the system works. So why are we playing that system when we don't have the striker we need to make it work? Last season when Ronnie arrived I saw us against Dundee Unt when we won 6-1. Stokes played that role and we were superb, best I have ever seen us play since RD came. Now Stokes got pushed to left side and now can't get a game at all. Ronnie still wants to play this system and no one apart from Stokes can lay that position. Why are we playing it?

16 Oct 2015 18:32:42
Johnny it's the age old, should a manager pick players for a system, or a system for his players. RD has a vision which involves the same set up, domestically and in Europe. Which is good. And personally 4-2-3-1 is my favourite set up. Although I agree we're lacking specific player types (and quality), by sticking to his system at least the players who do match it can get used to it. He's only been in the job just over a year. He is trying to change things. Through time and constraints against him from the club, he hasn't got his jigsaw together yet. It's more about getting rid of players actually now than getting them in. Hopefully he can get relative success from the pieces he does have and force the board to act on their part of the relationship and get him the players HE needs and that HE wants, with the quality WE deserve. I just don't know what people calling for his head are comparing him to. It can't be our last manager because RD at this stage is doing just as good, possibly better, depending whether you look at the facts or not. Keep the faith bhoys, trust me.

I think Deila like every other manager will always play the players who will do the best job for him. If Leigh continues to score goals Deila will continue topic him it's as simple as that. Deila may or may not be a fan of Celtic but most Celtic fans want Celtiic to win every game and you can be sure Deila does too.

Jim Tim and everyone, the first point is there is no point whatsoever in talking about the board giving any manager more money to spend. Last year we made a £4mill loss. So how much do we expect to lose to bring in what you are asking for. Is it another £5 mill or more? I know the argument which is spend more money and qualify for CL. Our failure to qualify for CL was not lack of investment. We were awful against an average Malmo team who cost under £2mill to assemble an entire team! It was bad play and bad management. If anyone needed any confirmation about Ronnie being an average manager then that game was it. So the sooner we all stop talking about Ronnie will be brilliant as long as we back him with better players is a silly argument as he is not going to get any more cash. Mow he knew the score when he came in. He is playing a system that needs a different striker that he has not got it is unlikely to get. Judge him on where he is today. It's not going to get any better.

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Oct 2015 01:06:31
Jimtim, there's no age old adage, you can only play the players you have, if those players don't suit the stystem, you have to change the system, you have to manage the team, use the players you have to the best of their abilities, use the system that best suits the players not the other way round, that's where Ronny is going wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Why can't the players we have improve and learn to play the system, Bitton and Griffiths have came on leaps and bounds so why can't others? Most of the younger player's are kicking on and youth players knocking on the first team squad door, it's the older stuck in a rut players that are struggling.
Players inability to adapt really just shows up their lack of ability, do you think players will look at a possible transfer and think 'Oh I don't like that they play 4-2-3-1, I can't play in that formation.' We have that many internationally capped players I sometimes wonder how they manage taking instructions from another manager on how he wants them to play the game.
I remember Chris Sutton playing at CB, imagine if RD had done that!}

Don't think the figures you read include the VVD money JM.

Jim Tim the accounts are only to June 2015 so the VVD money is not there right enough but neither will be any write downs from players we have lost money on.
