Ha, like a new signing will take on a new meaning next season with Stokes and Griffiths sporting Wayne Rooney baps .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They certainly have got their heads sorted out .

Do you think we will receive a offer for james Forrest?
And if so how much do you think he is worth?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Now that's a difficult question . If for example we said we were looking for an offer over £100,000 we would get loads but if we said we were looking for offers over £10m I don't think we will get any
As I haven't heard anything about James wanting away, I don't think the club will be seeking bids for him . When fit James can be a real top player and I think the club will hope and expect him to be fit and playing well next season .

Would love to see Paul lambert given the job if Neil leaves . Might be the right time for him to leave villa as he is working with one hand tied behind hind his back at villa and their owner has put them up for sale . What do you think the chances of this happening ed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I think Lambert will get another job in England if he leaves Aston Villa. Personally I would take him over the Owen Coyles of this world.}

Would love to see Paul Lambert this would be a good move new ideas new direction. NL has done a great job and been a great servant but his time has come its time for something new Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Seen John Collins name mentioned somewhere. Cultured player no doubt, what are the faithfuls thoughts on JC?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd happily take Collins as assistant manager but not as the main man.}

Paul lambert has been exceptionally negative at Villa . I don't know if he can be flexible enough to have Celtic attacking in domestic football.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can only play the hand you are dealt Chris, at Norwich his team were top scorers in the championship and played some lovely attacking football

Agree0 Disagree0

Lambert has many fine attacking options at Villa, but he started to have his team pump long balls up the park, very boring football.

Question for you Ed, would you take Ryan Giggs as manager of Celtic instead of Lennon.

I wouldn't because I feel Celtic shouldn't be a learning ground/nursery for any aspiring manager.

Would he do a better job than NL, I think he possibly would especially in Europe.

I would like our next manager to be someone who is on his 2nd or 3rd big managerial assignment with at least five years proven European experience behind him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No way would I want Giggs as manager, he has done nothing and didn't impress me in the few games he was in charge of at Utd. If we were going down that kind of route I would rather have Roy Keane but I think it's far too early for him as well. I think Keane will come into contention in a couple of years, working alongside MON will only improve Keane as a manager.
I agree with you about the pedigree of our next manager, I would love to see an experienced man come in and overhaul the entire footballing side of the club, implement an expansive passing game at all levels of the club which would become the team's trademark.
I've even thought about bringing in a DOF, a strong disciplinarian like Felix Magath to work alongside a young(ish) coach like Steve Clarke, Clarke is a far better coach than he is a manager and linking up with an experienced DOF would allow him to concentrate solely on the coaching side of things.}

I agree with you neither Giggs or Keane
Maybe someone like Martinez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we not look outside of the uk? Names so far collins, lambert, keane, coyle etc etc do we not have any ambition? We need a manager in who has ae much pedigree as the players we want to eign. We hqve done not too bad in chqmpions league in the past and financially yes it keeps us afloat. But we are only there to make up the numbers, we don't keep players long enough to have any concrete basis of a team. We are a europa league team and have more chance of competeing in that than anything else. We can't hold onto victorys in the past to justify our playingwith the big boys. We need a manager that will come in setle the squad and keep players on contracts for the term of their contract and not sell after 1 year? How does a team settle or achieve with the disruption? You may agree or disagree just my opinion.i would like to see a european manager in the dugout at paradise

Agree0 Disagree0

Our club don't sell players after one year. In fact in recent years we have only sold our better players because they demanded to leave and wouldn't have too long until they had run down their contracts and left for little or nothing . Although there are some very fine continental managers and coaches, not all of the best would come to operate on a tight budget like we would have to apply . Many of those willing to come would make us less competitive than we already are .

Well that's messi off the potential transfer targets! Signed a new deal with barca! Another 1 pl let get away! Long summer ahead!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dammit, I thought we could have sneaked in there and got him for £10k a week!

Agree0 Disagree0

Onto number 2 on the list kris boyd

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll probably bring Derek Riordan back now he's a free agent!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would rather kris kammara fae ssn lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Messi would have been a good squad player under NL. Sammy would still get the nod ahead of him on a pay per play basis

So Patrik Twardzik, Michael Miller, Lewis Kidd, Paddy McNally, Jack Kirwan, Sean McIntosh, Steven Boyd, Aaron Comrie and Connor McLaren will all leave our youth academy when their contracts expire in the summer?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Seriously thou Hammie how many of them do you think had a genuine chance of making the first team.
How many youth players are on Celtics cards atm and how can you accommodate them all with first team football .
Allowing reserves to play in lower leagues would surely enriching the quality of football, attract bigger crowds there and give Clubs a better chance of latching on to the late developers .
Whom am I to argue with the mighty administrators of Scottish football thou .

Agree0 Disagree0

My point is more along the lines of why even bother opening Lennoxtown in the first place mate? Since it's opened late 2007 / early 2008, how many players have established themselves as first team regulars? James Forrest? We were as well spending that £10m on one or two players than a training centre that develops youngsters up until the U20 level then releases them! Also, how many players have we loaned out then they've came back n made an impact after first team football? I couldn't think of one n unfortunately I think it'll be the same story for McGregor, Watt, Atajic, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well the epl are discussing colt teams in the lower leagues, so won't be long to the s pl copy, kinda like there original naming process of the leagues

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't the idea and name 'Colt teams' floating about Scottish football back in 2011/12?}

Loaning out players certainly doesn't work for Celtic .
There will be no Colts league in the SPL until the team from Govan wants one .

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Scottish football is too small to have B teams, I mean there's only 42 members in the SPFL?! Maybe once they bring in more tiers to the pyramid (ie Highland/Lowland leagues, Junior n even Amateur) then they can think about it. But until then, it's a no for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I mean how hard would it be to have the 42x SPFL, 18x Highland, 12x Lowland, 20x EoSFL, 11x SoSFL n 161x Junior teams all playing in the one pyramid? There's Junior teams who regularly pull more punters than some Scot Champ teams n have more financial clout than L2 clubs, it would freshen up the whole league system n brings a dream n vision to those clubs who've never competed at a pro or semi pro level before!

With all this continued speculation, who would you all like to replace NL? I would like it to be Jackie McNamara! Some one not scared to change the line up for personal glory! JM has the bottle to do it his way and give our youth a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Then when he does it and we lose a couple of games he gets slaughtered, he does it a utd out of necessity not bravery to promote youth

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't be long before the anti rookie manager brigade would be out screaming.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's always going to be an unhappy section of the support, no matter what happens! Why have a youth academy if no one has the bottle to truly bleed them into the side? I know we've had a few recently but surely more could be done!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see the percentages of other clubs and their success rate ESP those who have stronger development pedigrees compared to Celtic .Surely if 1 or 2 players were breaking through to senior status per year their development programme would be considered successful?
Realty haven't a clue just assuming .Maybe someone can shed some light on it?.

Agree0 Disagree0

The EPL held a tribunal of sorts to find out how good 16/17/18 year old don't become top footballers in their early twenties and never become top or even better than average footballers .

Agree0 Disagree0

I really wasn't impressed by the Dundee UTD youngsters today . I thought UTD were rather poor today and probably needed the first half shot that came off the post to have been a goal to have given them any chance .

From the official site:

A FANTASTIC five Celtic players now know they will be bound for Brazil this summer after the World Cup squads for all the finalists were announced this week.
Representing the Hoops in South America will be Efe Ambrose (Nigeria), Fraser Forster (England), Emilio Izaguirre (Honduras), Tom Rogic (Australia) and Georgios Samaras (Greece)

So is sammi still going to be our bhoy to cheer on then? Is PL finally putting a deal on the table for him? I just wondered because of the wording used here. Personally I hope so as sammi, as frustrating a player as he can be, has shown us time and again that he is capable of playing the Celtic way. On his day he can be unplayable and can be a match changer/winner. I know he can also be piss poor and look uninterested too but, when I compare him to some of the dead weight in the squad that we have spent decent money on that can't do for us what sammi has/can. wtf? sort it out PL!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well Greece's group stage games run from the 14th to 24th June, and I'd assume Samaras' contract will expire in July. The WC only runs to the 13th July. I'd love him to be resigning but I think you're reading too much into it mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

No please no Sammy is earning a fortune and did NOTHING last season . There are much better options out their for the money he is on .

Agree0 Disagree0

Sammy took a 40% paycut to join us and has been a fantastic servant! He struggled at first, as most players do when they join a club like Celtic, but he turned his career around after those two goals against the Deady Bears at Mordor a few years ago! He did nothing this year? 7 goals in 20 league appearances + 4 goals in 12 goals in 12 CL appearances from LW. This season was his worst in years, but I'm sure if you look back through my posts about September or October I said it wouldn't surprise me if Sammy's lack of form was down to a fallout behind closed doors, maybe the fact he didn't get offered a new deal played a huge factor?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can you name one mate? I don't see any player taking a 40% wage cut like Sammy did to join us. Sammy is an outstanding player, one I'm very sad to see leave the hoops. He is a lovely guy as well and didn't deserve to be treated the way he has. I hope he ends up at a better team than ours because quite frankly he deserves it.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is one point we've always seen eye to eye about Darren, a lot of people underestimate Sammy's worth to Celtic!

Agree0 Disagree0

Love Sammy when he's on form. It's just seldom that he's on form. I don't think he's done enough to warrant a new contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hasn't done enough? He was our third highest goalscorer this season, despite playing 15-20 games less than some players!

Agree0 Disagree0

Take away his goals in Europe the past two seasons and it'd tell a different story. HJK would've put us out of the CL 3rd Q Round on away goals if it wasn't for his goal in the last 5 mins over in Helsinki during the 2nd leg, we would still be searching for a first away win in the CL Group Stage if he hadn't scored a last minute winner + Shakhter Karagandy would've took us to ET as it would've been 2-2 on agg. So we might've not even had a CL campaign if it wasn't for Sammy!

Agree0 Disagree0

When judging a player and talking what he has done, its foolish to say something like, apart from, or leaving aside . Judge all the games over the period .

Agree0 Disagree0

Sammi should get a deal, piss poor how he been treated

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry guys not for me, he is on 25 - 30 grand a week in they last year of his contract ( correct me if i'm wrong ed but this is what i'm led to believe ) . Lovely big guy that he is and a great servant that he has been, there are far better, more consistent and more productive player's out there in that wage bracket . Now its debatable that we will get one off them in, that is a different story .

How would this work out.... With Johan Mjallby leaving CFC, what if NL goes to Norwich and Chris Sutton has been lined up as NL assistant manager at Norwich for the past few months? See what happens when you eat cheese late at night?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Teasing us Ed? Is this a hint or a prediction? Would GP go too?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm just thinking out loud mate.}

"Garth Crooks" (not sure if it's real or a parody) posted three Tweets last night about Lennon, the first one I stuck on the Rumours page. The others were:

"Alot of people asking why Neil Lennon would leave for a championship team but that's the challenge, no challenge in the SPL anymore"

"Judge me in 48 hours when Lennon announced new Norwich manager. It is happening and he can't wait"

Agree0 Disagree0

Seen big sutty's face when asked on bt sport about being lennons assistant . He never really had an answer and didn't know where to look! The host quickly moved on! But this was at Celtic so maybe there is something in it? Maybe just the wrong club?

Agree0 Disagree0

A fair point ed, but who do we get to replace him when he goes?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I still think it will be Owen Coyle, whether I agree with that is another matter altogether.}

Stay of the cheese sir . mushrooms are in season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sounds magic!}

Please not Owen Coyle .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think it has been agreed that he will take over from NL for a while now, he had a clause in his Wigan contract that he would be free to talk to CFC if they approached the club. I might be wrong but I have been saying it for a year now, and nothing since has changed my mind. His young family have grown up a bit now, one of the main reasons he turned down the job in 2009 was because he didn't want to subject his young family to the Old Firm goldfish bowl and in my opinion I think perhaps he felt he was too young and inexperienced at the time to take on such a massive job.
To be fair to Coyle he has a positive footballing philosophy when you hear him speaking about football in general and likes his teams to play attractive attacking football allowing players to express themselves on the park, he is a strict disciplinarian, teetotal and is seen by many as an old style manager in that he has high standards on and off the park and is uncompromising in maintaining those standards, all things that I personally think are missing at the club just now.
I think I should be on a commission for writing that lol If I am honest I don't really know if Coyle would be my first choice to take over IF Neil Lennon leaves but I do think he would be an improvement on NL. If he does get the job I have no doubt that he will make a lot of people eat their words, just as NL has done with the people who said he didn't have the temperament to even make a decent effort in management let alone achieve what he has.}

For what its work I think Owen Coyle is a charisma free zone . He reminds me a bit like big Tony before he joined us .
I honesty thought big Tony was the man for us but it wasn't to be .
No matter who is our next manager and no matter when he becomes our boss we have to get behind him .

Agree0 Disagree0

Dellbhoy
Maybe Sutton's face was because he knew the announcement about his bankruptcy was imminent . I doubt if Lennon and Sutton would make a good team as they were reported to have been the biggest moaners at Celtic under O'Neil .
