Stokesy finally came good for Hibs tonight, my opinion is that he is better than Scepovic, Ciftci, Cole or Kazim-Richards who were signed to replace him .

Playing well in one game although good to see, doesn't mean he has turned an angle.

16 Mar 2016 23:44:32
Playing well 1 game in every 10 is exactly why he's not at Celtic.

Playing well in 1 game in 10 is still better than the rest lol.

Good point Rayman. That said if take scep over Cole ckr and nadir every day of the week.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 07:55:36
Scepovic is a strange one tbh. He scored most of the time when he played but it seems his heart just wasn't in it at all after his move to Levante fell through. Ciftci, I feel has something about him but only ever shows it in glimpses ie his goal this week was great but he always tries his best. If you could get that attitude to rub off on Scepovic then we'd have a serious player on our hands but I can't see it, he'll be off in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Mar 2016 10:44:02
Kevbhoy . scepovic scored 4 in 19 for us and now 4 in 19 for Getafe . the guy is below average and that's being kind . apart from Griffiths and hooper stokes is better than all the other strikers signed or loaned since himself . stokes is ok at spl level as back up nothing more . but still better than scepovic ckr cole.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 11:14:15
That's an unfair statistic DRB because a lot of the time he was coming on for 10 minutes and not really getting the chance to get into the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 12:10:43
As well as which, until last night Stokes had 2 in 11 (approx) for Hibs - which is not only on its way to 4 in 19, it's statistically worse. Even including last nights goals, if he has the same type of form he showed after scoring two on the bounce for Hibs, you're looking at 4 in 24.

Stats and all that ๐Ÿ˜€.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 13:15:35
Have any of you watched him play for hibs? I've been watching the games to keep an eye on henderson and though he has been well. I haven't seen anything from stokes that makes me want him back in the team.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 13:34:42
Agreed. He's actually made JC worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 14:46:23
If it's about stats he's 1 goal in every 3 games at hibs which is what stokes usually is as a striker and there are many players who would love to have those stats (Cole Richards scepovic ) and he hadn't played for 6 months so wasn't match sharp. Asfor making Cummings worse was he ever that good? It is 2nd division after all.

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Mar 2016 15:22:52
Kevbhoy maybe so . but it's the same at every club he's been at . he's had one good season with 23 goals then signed with us nowits back to his norm of low scoring . he's 26 had 12 clubs and as I said one good season . the boy is an average player pp I never mentioned stokes stats just the fact imo he's better than the other duffers we've brought in . on stats his average with us is one in 2.5 career one in 2.6 . scepovic is one in every 3 career. so take one of these๐Ÿ‘Š โ˜บโœŒ.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 16:49:22
Stats aside as a footballer I think he has ability and has scored some great goals but he has to be at his very best before I'd start him. I think his best is behind him now though. He even looks like he has lost a yard when he wasn't the quickest to start with. Comparing him with what we have/ had is p*ssing in the wind. It's been that bad striker wise for years that we are debating the best of a bad bunch! Broken record but the lack of quality is astounding.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 19:08:37
At least there is one thing agreeable, all our strikers apart from Leigh Grifgiths are considered to be pure S&ยฃ&e.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 21:41:02
At a big ambitious club like Celtic a player can't have the luxury of nine games and not showing an interest and then scoring a goal or two in the next . The pressure at Celtic is to get results in every match . L G is an example of the striker we want and we have done well to have him, and more important to have him in the right frame of mind to score or create in nearly every match .
Believe it or not we have fans who think we should have better than L G .
Leigh, compared to the rest of our first team players is brilliant, if we look at many of the top teams in EPL, brought together by spending hundreds of millions, not many of them have strikers scoring as regularly as LG.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 21:56:56
Old Bhoy bang on the money, thought Stokes was a decent player but his lack of interest in games was shocking. LG has came in, got hs head down and has been one of two star performers this season. Probably explains the difference between the two (Griffiths and Stokes) , Stokes had bags of talent and spent time at Arsenal probably coasted through his development years. Griffiths has worked hard since starting out, learned he was a bit off the pace and Wolves and strived to improve whilst Stokes just continued his coasting.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Mar 2016 01:07:10
The attitude and belief in manager is as important as natural ability .

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Mar 2016 08:55:44
Gary Hooper was very often guilty of disappearing for 2/ 3 weeks at a time but he go away with it because he would follow it up with 6 or 7 goals in just a few games afterwards. I much prefer Griffiths scoring more regularly because without that we'd have been in trouble this season.

We all know Ronny divides opinion on here some think he useless others the new messiah.
No matter how I look at this Ronny doesn't come out looking good.
Lots of talk about the signings are not his, the backroom staff not being his, and now he getting told to play players.
1- He has not had his own backroom staff, nothing wrong in this as it happens at other clubs. ( Do u think LVG said I want Giggs. )
He knew this when he took the job so there's no problem here so fans should really leave it alone.
Or he was forced into taking them (cant really believe this but there you go) and if he was he looks weak.
2- He is not signing the players. I think he has signed along the lines of 23 players and he doesn't have an influence? aye right.
He may not have the final say but he must be aware that we are pursueing and could use his knowledge to get another player he fancies.
After all that's why he's there.
Again he looks weak.
Or he is signing these players, well nuff said to most of them.
3- He is being forced to play players. Again could any manager look weaker if this was true. Where is your cahoonas Ronny if so.
Or He is not being forced to play players. Honestly I don't know which is worse out of the 2 scenarios as he constantly changes his team and has no consistency and plays players out of position. Not to mention the constant playing of SJ, AND he thinks Boyata is a player.
But guys don't take my word on this tho, all the empty seats at Celtic Park agree with me lol.

Your actually wrong TPP I do like Ronny. That's my point really we all know he is a nice guy but I don't want a nice to be our manager I want someone who will stand up for himself and to the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 01:10:38
If that's the case I'd hate to see you when you don't like the manager! ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Mar 2016 08:11:34
The truth is somewhere in the middle as he is not totally useless and he is not the messiah.

There is much of what he does that is good and some of what he does that needs improving. If he can improve on some of those weaknesses then we will have a very good manager.

The question is will he improve those weaknesses and if so, how quick can he do it?

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 12:35:46
Now now rayman you know tpp is never wrong, you must have read his post incorrectly ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Mar 2016 12:51:08
I was waiting for you to reappear. Not surprised in the slightest it's to tag on to another post and offer nothing to the thread other than An attempt to get a dig into someone. A dig that may have had more effect had it came before I'd already replied to Rayman - so you can't even do that right.

To be clear though, I haven't ever said I'm not/ never wrong. Not that you'd know of course because -- sing it with me -- you never read the actual posts.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 13:25:49
Why so cross ttp, read MY post, I complimented you if you had read the post, I said you were never wrong, notice the lack of quotation marks? Perhaps you should take your own unsolicited advice . And while your at it, did you not " tag on to someone else's post to start with? Or are you and rayman, the same person?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 13:41:51
Unlike you, I can read irony, so I have a fair grasp of what you were alluding to.

For the Benefit of the doubt, let's say you were being genuine and it was in fact a compliment -- and although still erroneous as I am not infallible -- I'll thank you regardless.

And FYI, my first post to Rayman was in direct response to the thread. Still, don't let facts get in the way of your retort.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 15:04:07
Ttp tut tut for such a clever man, your making a lot of assumptions today, what gives you the impression I can't read irony? You seem very angry ๐Ÿ˜  today and on this site in general, yet when I read your posts on other clubs sites, you seem so pleasant and genial to the other posters .

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 15:48:30
"You're making a lot of assumptions. "

"You seem very angry. "

Don't worry about me- I am, as the Krankies would say: "fan dabby dozy" ๐Ÿ˜€.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 16:37:06
That's great perhaps you should pop over to the sevco sight and spread the love, you seemed to cheer them up no end the other night, when you were telling them how good a job there manager was doing ๐Ÿ˜.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Mar 2016 16:58:37
I was waiting for that. Your predicatIbility is oddly comforting. Oh, and I'll tell them you said hi - seeing as the last time you were there you were laughed off the board and haven't been back.

Again, and I know this is a tricky concept for you so I'll try to make it as simple as possible, I was answering a question in context to the thread. You should try it sometime - it may save you embarrassing yourself time and time again.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 18:09:53
You can't be following your advice as I have had several posts up since our discussion , as for being laughed off I hardly expected any rangers fan to agree with me considering my point of view was that there manager had proved nothing, when compared to Ronnie .

1st rule of management your not there to be liked your there to get the best performance out of the people you lead. In order to take a team to exceed expectations you have to lead them there and install belief that you are worth hard work sweat blood and tears. And the team you lead take inspiration from you and channel that to deliver
Unfortunately I don't think deila does this.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 21:49:48
Rayman's post is a very dangerous post . Rayman is repeating rumours and half truths . There is nothing wrong with that as most people have decided long ago that Rayman never allowed accuracy to get in the way of a good rant .
Unfortunately there may be some people who read his nonsense and believe it . That's why I think the post is dangerous .

SNSM, and SFA/ SFL, will be happy with Prospective managers' posts. Support the team And manager And board And the history. The flak should be directed at what happened and is happening regarding tax evasion. The other side are actually talking about who they will buy in the close season when they have no money and likely new manager as funds will not be available to pay bonuses! ๐Ÿ˜ž all the issues that have been uncovered in football in Scotland are only just being raised. HH.

17 Mar 2016 08:20:59
Some of the players need to look themselves in the mirror and realise that they need to show more commitment and desire. Over the last couple of months I have been dismayed at how bad some players have been performing. They are not closing down and tracking back and they are not making runs off the ball. In fact I have seen some players deliberately take up bad positions so they can't receive the ball. Now if I can see that, then surely the manager can to and he has to either get them sorted or stop playing them.

With regards to the board, Lawwell can do one as he is failing the fans in many ways:

1. He sells our best players every season.
2. He has tried to marginalise a section of our support by getting other fans to turn on them.
3. He is not challenging the SFA over the Lord Nimmo Smith investigation and how they treated the small tax case the same as the big tax case. In addition he is not pursuing the SFA over resolution 12 and Rangers UEFA license. Bring back McCann, at least he had the balls to challenge the authorities and defend Celtic.

That's because like most of our mps, smps, councillors and big business owners, they don't give a shit about there constituents, customers or in our case, what the fans think, they only think about lining their own and there paymasters pockets.

{Ed007's Note - Have you told the Club how you feel and if not why not? All it takes is an e-mail to JP Taylor and suddenly you've became yet another supporter complaining about the way the Club is being ran.
He's getting loads of e-mails everyday from people questioning the Club's stance regarding Res 12 for a start, why not take 5 minutes out of your day to tell the Club how YOU feel?}

17 Mar 2016 17:12:45
I have ed and would encourage more fans to do so at, jptaylor@celticfc. co. uk, but do you think it will make any difference ed? I suppose if we make enough noise someone might listen.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's better than sitting doing nothing mate and the guys that are dealing with the Res 12 stuff have asked supporters to let the club know their feelings. I won't be renewing my 2 season tickets and will be closing down my Pools agency I've had for 23 years at the end of the season.}

17 Mar 2016 18:03:47
That's a shame ๐Ÿ˜ž folk like you are the lifeblood of the club, I used to do the Celtic pools with the wee woman I stayed down the road from, every week gave her my three pounds never got anything back, didn't care as the money was going to Celtic, then one week she comes up casual as you like " oh by the way you won last week, here is a check for 1600 ponds " ๐Ÿ˜ , can I ask, you know we don't see eye to eye on Ronnie's ability, and you seem quite happy with him as manager, what would it take for you to change your mind?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - For the Club to grow a pair of balls, start listening to the support and backing them over important issues. We've been fined for a 'F*CK UEFA' banner and some pyro yet Man Utd fans can openly sing about Liverpool fans being murderers and Liverpool fans can set off flares/smokebombs during games and there's nothing done, and that's only from a game a week ago, how many other matches is there banners and pyro getting let off?
Don't forget that the Club were instrumental in the introduction of the Offensive Behaviout at Football Act which is a (swear) joke. There's young lads from clubs like Hamilton and Motherwell getting their doors kicked in at 6 am and using CCTV footage in joke trials that end up getting thrown out while thousands can stand in Hampden and Ibrox and openly sing about being upto their knees in Fenian blood and nothing gets done.
The board have bottled the whole Rangers/Sevco situation because of the threats of violence, intimidation and social unrest - it's all complete bollocks and the CFC that stands today is nothing like the club I grew up supporting. Do you think Fergus McCann would have lay down and accepted being cheated?}

17 Mar 2016 19:15:37
I know exactly what your saying, and no Fergus I can't imagine would have rolled over and had his belly rubbed. Is it only Celtic you are disillusioned with or the way football is in general? I remember posting before the season started about how qualifying for the cl did not bother me, as it seems to be just a money making exercise for all the teams other than the 7-8 elite clubs who can actually win it and I was shouted down, but I have hardly watched any of it this season ( though I must confess I did enjoy the Bayern / juve game last night ) and I can only foresee it getting worse .

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 19:38:48
Given how Fergus pursued Jim Farry during that whole sorry affair, I would have LOVED to see how he would have dealt with the last 4/ 5 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 21:55:32
E-mailing J P Taylor may or may not influence the board and set in motion steps to redress the Rangers walking away with their bad practices
Discussing on fan forums won't achieve anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 17:35:16
I can't see any benefit in speculation about a new manager whilst we have a manager.
As long as Ronny is in charge he deserves the support and respect of players and supporters.
Any talk of replacements will only undermine his authority and have an adverse effect on the players
I would suggest waiting till the end of the season and see where we are up to.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2016 18:05:35
I think the fact there is speculation, reflects the mood and concerns of many supporters and although there will always be mischief making and unsettling, biased journalism, there would be a lot less of it, if we were more convincing and confident on and off the park.
Obviously it can be distracting and undermining, but most of the players have really under-performed all season and there have been very, very few games where I could say we were outstanding or looked like a team that were enjoying their football.
There are too many factions and distractions within the camp and posts commenting on how players are signed or pushed into the team out-with the managers control, generates a lot of negativity/ doubt.

Agree3 Disagree1

16 Mar 2016 18:55:08
Jungle Jim The posts you refer to originate by posters who have been anti R D since he came, or by the SMSM who have targeted him all season as they want Celtic to be in turmoil if and when the Rangers 2012 debut in the SPL . If we are Celtic supporters the very least we can do is get behind Manager and team and encourage Celtic to another SPL title .

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Mar 2016 20:32:37
Chris, it's not the Scottish press and media who are responsible for our dwindling crowds. I would guess that most fans are staying away because they don't like the quality of football that is being served up.
I think that falling attendances are far more damaging to the club than anything written in the press.
I would suggest that if you want to carry on down this path, then it's you who are not the true supporter, as true supporters actually care about the state of our club and want us to be as good as they can be.
You seem more concerned about what's written in the press rather than the damage that is being done to our club from within.
Real fans care about the state of the club, they are not any less of a fan because they can see that something needs to change to reverse our clubs decline. They are certainly better supporters than people who just bury their heads in the sand and pretend that it's all the fault of referees or the newspapers.

Agree2 Disagree2

16 Mar 2016 20:47:54
Old Bhoy. I just call it as I honestly see it and pay absolutely no attention to the biased media and gutter press of Scotland;
never having bought a red-top for decades or listened to any of the radio phone-ins or Celtic bashing by ex-currents.
It's not so long since you, yourself had a go at the manager and team as you must agree there is cause for concern -if not for this season - then, the direction the club are heading and standards slipping.
We all love and support the club, but Celtic have shown a ridiculous complacency and incompetency, since the death of Rangers and we have missed an historic opportunity to press home our advantage and thrive.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 20:55:04
Yeah let's all renew our season tickets and play happy families like everything is ok then hope the board listen to fans concerns about the manager. The club are panicking just now and should be addressing the managers position now as fans are turning their backs on ronnys team and that is why they are discounting tickets for Saturday. Why are they subsidising this Saturday but not home matches? Answer they think Ronny might actually lose the league and are desperate for support against one of the worst teams in the league.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Mar 2016 22:36:35
Any manager worth his salt will lap up the speculation as that's when he rallies the troops and gets the best out of them. So over to you Ronny.
Gerry I said on here weeks ago that you or I will not determine RDs outcome, the attendancies will.
Supporters vote with their feet and its obvious to everyone they are staying away in their droves.

Moyes wae his stupid talk is no better than jakey goram who said we scared of the wee team from govan anyway as long as we win the title this year i want ronny to stay at least one more season his ideas were never going to happen in first or second season and i think if he doesn't do much next season then fair enough he should go what am sick of is failures who knock our team then want a job moyes pal your no good enough! As for the lennon lovers he walked oot and failed elsewhere no way should we even consider asking him back he was never that good a manager anyway.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

16 Mar 2016 19:00:52
I thought you were going to post Moyes is stupid .
Well he must be, or he wouldn't think he would be considered for the Celtic job .11 years an unsuccessful manager of Everton followed by two short stints which both ended in the sack . Does he think the Celtic Supporters were so excited by his short unremarkable playing career that they would want him despite his managerial failings.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Mar 2016 19:11:52
What's more stupid, is those that want Lennon back ( why is totally beyond me ) or those calling for Stubbs

Neither is acceptable. An older head is needed to stabilise this club. Who, I don't know.

RD will get another year, I can't see Lawell doing anything in the summer apart from further declining the little quality we have left in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Mar 2016 22:06:53
Kev T I was a great supporter of N Lennon when he was a player and a manager, but I certainly don't want him back as a manager and I cannot see any other role for him .
I agree with Kev T Ronny should get another year . Despite struggling from time to time this season I think he has built quite a good young squad on a shoe string . I also think that we are no longer building up individual players to sell and really weaken the team . I think next season could be a lot better and I worry if we change manager we may undo the building he is doing .

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 16:15:10
Regards PL I appreciate the opinions of many regarding his position, in particular I don't care for our signing policy or the over inflated bonuses he receives (if this is true) however I do believe a club living within its means is hugely important. I do also appreciate the improvements on infrastructure such as; Celtic way or lennoxtown.
Opinions on Season ticket prices may vary but I think our pricing policy is fair.
If team matters and transfers were solely the managers responsibility I would be more than happy.

When it comes to making footballing decisions, he falls short, we need sonebody else making those calls. Here's an alright wee article I agree with, ignore the red logo at the top, doesn't get pass marks in any criteria.

dailyrecord. co. uk/ sport/ football/ football-news/ now-peter-lawwells-13-year-7314368#78hFzZ7R2TSB7IW7.97.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 18:46:36
That's my point - apart from the signing policy/ structure the club is run well - and maybe managerial appointments depending on your own personal opinion.
The article is typical daily ranger dross, to compare 2003 with 2016 without mentioning the decline in Scottish football standards/ income and the meteoric rise in the English revenue is a complete waste of time.
The managerial appointments is his responsibility, but in my opinion Celtic should have a manager at the helm with final say over the ins and outs.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 18:53:57
I'm not a fan of Lawwell, although there are things he does do well. Anyway, just wanted to point out that his wage once you include bonuses is around the 1 million mark.

Now you could argue that this is the going rate in football, and that a lot of clubs pay inflated wages to their CEO, a rate that is greater than the CEO of a non-footballing business with similar turnover. However, there are some EPL CEOs who are on considerably less.

So I would say it is a matter of opinion on whether or not you think his pay cheque is over inflated.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 19:42:26
The English revenue has bugger all to do with us though island celt to be fair. I don't think he shows any ambition as the CEO of a football club. He might be a good businessman, but it's different at a football club. The stakeholders are you and I. All I ask is that we be as good as we can be, and under PL I don't think we are.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 20:30:48
That's a fair point Jim
Maybe ambition for the playing side is what is missing at top level.
As you say Celtic football club belongs to the supporters - and every supporter has the right to their own opinion on what they want to see on the park.
For me I want to see players with heart - although a wee bit of style wouldn't be an excessive demand!
I still believe the English revenue has affected our club. In 2003 how did our wage bill compare with the EPL? Maybe that's why we had larsson, Sutton, Harrison and co. Top players command top wages, Scotland doesn't produce players that could deliver at the highest level and the lure of Celtic park may not be the same for kids in Scotland today as it was (and always will be) for me when I was wee.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2016 22:11:03
I have never read an article in the Daily Record that attempted to be fair and reasonable regarding Celtic . I can't imagine how any football fan that doesn't actually hate Celtic would quote it .
The Church that Celtic fans come from must be getting broader and broader.

The board has been handed a wakeup call with moyes public statements . hopefully they will listen. Could this know give ronnie a leverage to demand what he thinks is needed to further the club . on an aside the pinion ion of many of ronnie is tgat he is a yes man and park and lawell pick the players I was thinking has ronnie made his stand with Allen as most people on here are all calling for game time for him but he only gets bit parts so far heard anything ed?

{Ed007's Note - There's no conspiracy, Scott Allan is simply not good enough and RD told Lawwell and Park that before he was signed.}

"RD told Lawwell and Park that before he was signed" There's another little gem. As if the Elyounoussi/ CKR dealing wasn't bad enough. PL and JP are no good.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - CKR is another one of Dudu Dahan's clients. He had been suspended by Feyenoord for threatening to beat up a journalist and needed to get out of Holland PDQ, all it took was one phone call from Dahan to his friends at CP to put the wheels in motion for the move to happen.}

It's a shambles. I don't mind a head coach not having the full say, but when you look at the alternatives it's all wrong. The CKR instead of Elyounoussi thing really p*ssed me off. As for Allan, when it was mentioned a couple weeks back RD being pressurised to play certain players, I had a gut feeling one was Allan, albeit from the bench. No way would a manager come in from another country and after one full season sign a player from the Scottish Championship.

I agree with the OP too btw, but what Moyes has said isn't anything I didn't already think anyway.

{Ed007's Note - Exactly. Don't forget that we're also meant to believe that after only being here 5/6 months he decided to sign GMS and Armstrong from a team we beat 6-1 in his early days here, I doubt they caught his eye during that game let alone it hardly fits in with RD's meticulous approach to everything does it?
The majority of the players who have been brought in would have been brought in regardless of who the manager was.}

JimTim expect worse to come. The persistent failings in strikers we have seen, get worse and worse. We have not 1 decent striker to give Griffiths a challenge or is suitable back up. Carlton Cole done it for me.

While I don't think Allan will make it at Celtic, the transfer fee was worth it just to laugh at the blue side of the city.

{Ed007's Note - They'd have built their team around and he'd have been hero worshipped as 'one of their own' (wink) yet he's lucky if he makes our bench - that right there is the difference between the Premiership and the Championship.}

The murmurings from the SMSM and a section of our fans are both designed to make life impossible for R D . The naivity of our fans in thinking if R D goes our problems will disappear with him is bordering on ridiculous. The like of Moyes is stupid enough to think if he was manager our board would magically come up with a transfer bounty that would mean we can buy our way to success . The SMSM's sole interest in R D is to get him removed so that Celtic would be back in disarray, and the Rangers 2012 would start next season closer to Celtic, than if we had a manager in his third year .

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 21:51:09
I think we will have to give Ronnie a third year, to convince one half of the support, by his performance, that he is realy a good manager or to convince the other half, that he really does'nt know what he is doing, one way or the other, a third year for Ronnie is the only way to sort it out.

I don't think a club with Celtic's transfer budget is likely to have a striker who is going to put pressure on a 40 goal a season striker . We have done well to create the striker L G is . When he joined us he was a bit of a hit and miss striker, I think despite many fan's misgivings R D has done a marvellous job with Leigh.

Everybody knows my time at Celtic was great. I was a young player and played with great players at Celtic. Celticโ€™s been a great love of mine.
โ€œWho knows, who knows, I would never say never but obviously Iโ€™ve got ambitions to win things.
โ€œIโ€™d want to be at a club that would give me every chance to win and be involved in the Champions League and be at the top level.
โ€œIโ€™m saying this with total respect but I donโ€™t think the Celtic squad is good enough to reach the levels that they want. Thatโ€™s a no-brainer if you ask me. โ€
A quote from David moyes on joining celtic as manager.

What's your obsession on not wanting anyone who has a connection with Celtic? Just because Ronny has won a couple of trophies in Norway and Scotland doesn't necessarily make him better than other people who haven't won trophies. Davie moyes is a higher rated manager than Lennon or deila regardless of trophies won on their cvs you might think Ronny deserves the man Utd job because he's won a few trophies but I doubt they think the same. Personally I don't think David moyes will be offered the job but if he did become our manager then I would be delighted not because he played for us but because there would be a significant change in our policy of the last few years and we would have a manager who should be respected for doing a good job at Everton and I don't blame him for the shambles that is happening at man Utd over the last few years.

Aye Jim1972 Moyes is that great a manager he got found out at Man United and Real Sociedad. I never mentioned Deila once above, that was yourself.

The realistic situation we are in, is that no manager of the calibre we should see in charge will take charge because of all the stuff going on in background.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2016 13:04:19
So tell us why are you so against anyone who has a previous connection with Celtic? Most clubs with any sort of history look for former players it's not just Celtic even Barcelona and Real Madrid do it. I'm not saying it has to always be a former player or catholic or Irish if that's Celtic minded but it shouldn't be ruled out or else we might miss out on the next jock stein who would never be considered by your criteria.

DN30, if the people behind the scenes are so bad, how come they got it so right in appointing Ronny.
It's probably only Lawwell and Desmond who ever thought that Ronny was good enough to manage Celtic, so shouldn't you be congratulating them for their foresight and wisdom.

16 Mar 2016 13:33:17
Jim1972 i haven't got a problem with anyone being appointed that has prior connection provided they are suitable. What I do have a problem is appointing someone who is not a suitable candidate, but this being overlooked all because they have prior connection or country they hail from.

Gerryc how did they get it right? I've backed Deila because he was an improvement on past 2 managers. Getting it right would of been allowing Deila to appoint his own assistant and backroom team and getting wingers in to make 4-2-3-1 work. Deilas downfall is not adapting to 4-4-2. For me I can't see him managing next season, i'm worried about who we will see next.

Not saying Moyes is the man to take Celtic forward but what I would say is that he did a pretty decent job at Everton over the years in my opinion and sir Alex held a high opinion of his as well. Everyone knows what happened to him at Man Utd but what I would say is that had the board given him the absolute fortune that van gaal has wasted he might have still been in the job.

Fair points there Pedro. I used to rate him. I used to believe in Santa too. He was good for Everton I thought, but after things I've heard and his time at Utd and in Spain, not for me. Did DM not hold talks with us after NL or have I dreamed that up?

16 Mar 2016 20:28:08
If Moyes was regarded by those that matter as having anything more than limited ability, he wouldn't be reduced to touted himself for a job where there is no current vacancy. Moyes isn't exactly green behind the ears, hasn't he been on the league manager's board, so he knows how wrong it is to speak as he did . He has been a Manager failure for over 20 years without winning anything . Celtic fans won't give him 20 months without success.
