Does anyone get annoyed watching SSN transfer centre? I don't know why I watch it as all you see is mediocre teams linked with mediocre players all of which are £30m, £40m, £60m, £80m. It's just ridiculous and totally ruining the game. It does make you appreciate some of the players we currently have who are loyal to us, including some of the non Scottish players like Ajer, Rogic etc and are not lured by the ridiculous fortunes down there. It must make our scouting a seriously difficult task. When will these prices end?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - I sacked watching it years ago when they bitched everybody about Wesley Sneijder joining Man Utd, I don't even watch it on deadline day.}

Dead right. It's painful watching at times. When u see what they say some very very average players are worth and then see what they think some of our players are worth is a joke.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's all geared up with fake news to get folk gambling, it all comes down to making money and when that's the objective it dan never be reliable. }

17 Jul 2018 09:23:57
Haven't watched it in a few years either. It's just a vehicle to advertise their channels and lure people into their betting site. They call themselves the home of sports news yet this week they won't have shown any footage of the world cup, or wimbledon, I'd imagine. Instead they'll be plugging something which they are screeining like womens rugby sevens or yacht racing. Then there's the 'sky sources' which will indicate that x player is in talks with y club, right before they show the odds and offer you their money for telling you the inside info? Pull the other one.

SSN Is an absolute joke of a channel! Best thing I ever done was to get shot of that Shoite! Wrote on here before about the time James McFadden was coming to us for 5.75m plus Bobo Balde, load of pish! Like ED said it’s all linked to gambling! Sky bet is another joke! I remember we were the odds on favourites for scumbag Barton and jay boothroyd, more garbage! It’s a form of brainwashing by the way! I would advise anyone not to give it the time of day!

McGinn is no doubt a decent player but my question is would he make our first 11 better now? Regardless of formation I think he would struggle to get into the centre of midfield where we have Brown, McGregor Ntcham and Rogic. Makes sense to take him in Jan for nowt if we can still get him, but to shell out £2.5m + isn't logical if he isn't going to be a starter right away. Money could be better spent on other areas where we clearly need strengthening imo.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - McGinn plays in a different position to Rogic (and McGregor's best position) so that's not really relevant but considering Stuart Armstrong made 41 appearances for us last season who's going to play in those games this coming season?
McGinn is being brought in to replace Stuart Armstrong, not Brown or Ntcham, if either of them get injured we're short in that position since Armstrong's departure.}

16 Jul 2018 23:04:15
I take your point but you have agreed with my point ”if either of Brown or Ntcham get injured, i. e McGinnwpuldnt be a starter. Surprised that SA played 41 times actually, how many in our starting 11?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He made 25 starts as far as I can see on my tablet, the file I keep is downstairs on my laptop.
All McGinn will do is replace Armstrong in the squad and be given the chance to show he has the ability and capability of playing for Celtic.
Who would you replace Brown or Ntcham with from our current squad if either of them broke their leg? Kouassi is inexperienced and McGregor's too lightweight in there long term. The crux of the matter is that since Armstrong left we need to replace him, McGinn is the best midfielder in Scotland that's not already a Celtic player, although the lad will get slaughtered for any misplaced pass or mistimed tackle for years like Brown was - he'll probaboy be written of and abused by a lot of the support too just like Brown was.}

16 Jul 2018 23:05:08
We have E K and I have no doubt he could do a good job as a defensive midfielder but McGinn may have defensive abilities but has better offensive than EK .
In any case we need good coverage in that part of the field, as I think we need to boss and control the centre midfield .

I watched the World Cup final in Manchester yesterday and at the half time they were showing celebrating fans from around the world when there team scored a goal. These two manc wallopers beside me said Ingaylands celebrations were the best because there was more beer in the air.

Ed, what's happening with jack Aitcheson? Is he going out on loan this year?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything about him going out on loan but there was rumours flying about at the end of the season.}

17 Jul 2018 15:04:35
A think he really needs to go out n get some games, realistically he won't get many minutes when we've got 3 top strikers infront of him.

As you may have gathered Mrs T is out, so I am "bravely" coming on here with one eye on the door and one ear listening, hard to blooming do lol
I go back to consultant tomorrow and fingers crossed, get the all clear, then I will be back on a more regular basis (please don't all cry at once ha ha)
Thought I would share this story with you all, on Sunday evening "The Suit" and his wife paid the Timalloy house a visit. Mrs T is the "respectable" one in our household, treats everyone with compassion and dignity, and HATES any outward sign of our Roman Catholic faith in our house when visitors come, she hides all the holy pictures, the girls Celtic tops and scarves and mine are all hidden away, as are all my rebel song collections, RESPECT is her middle name.
So imagine my surprise when just before The Suit's visit, all our pictures of the Holy father and virgin Mary were displayed prominently in the living room, she even had a copy of the Catholic Observer which we NEVER buy. Mrs T would never sink to my level and play Rebel songs but out came Daniel O'Donnell singing "Danny Boy" and "Forty shades of Green" subtle is my Mrs T lol
Now my "friend" the suit is not a compassionate man and I knew full well he was coming over to see me "in the throes of my last breath" to him that would have cheered him up no end but I summoned up some strength for his visit and to see his disappointed look at my apparent "better health" and him trying to hide it bucked me up tremendously.
For the sake of balance, I have to say also my two other ex bear pals have been god sends, taking turns to ferry me to hospital appointments and such like, even if they too have caught the Stevie Gee bug. They are getting an easy passage so far, but once the season starts I anticipate much "taking of the Micheal of them" hail hail.

Well that's the World Cup done and dusted for another 4 years, and surprise surprise Ingerland NEVER won it, where was VAR when Kane needed a penalty in the Croatia game lol (back to Kane and VAR later)
But as another Poster commented imagine this French side with Dembele playing up front, instead of that donkey Giroud, is anyone really surprised he never scored a goal, Nada, Zero, Zilch. His movement was slow and cumbersome throughout the whole tournament, and same could be said of Benteke, to be fair, at least he DID score 4 goals, but again his movement and control of the ball was atrocious.
Now back to Kane and VAR
As I knew I would not be able to place many bets during World Cup due to my situation, I placed a £100 bet on Kane top scorer, sly bet kindly gave me enhanced odds of 20/ 1, why was I so confident of this bet? V. A. R. I anticipated lots of penalties and as Kane was their penalty man I lumped on, so even if the worst happened and an Ingerland WIN (groan) my winnings would have eased it a bit.

You mean Lukaku instead of Benteke Tim?

Tim giroud is useless cannot believe he played nearly every game his touch is terrible and he can't finish. baffling.

Some of Giroud’s link up play is very good and I understand why they’d pick Giroud, mbappe and griezmann aren’t going to win many in the air. But he does need to score more.

May be biased but I also think Dembele would be a better pick.

16 Jul 2018 15:14:46
Not only did Giroud not score he didn’t register a shot on target the whole tournament.

He’s France’s 4th all time goal scorer. And got in ahead of benzema, lacazette, martial etc. and his last 2 clubs are arsenal then Chelsea. Can’t be that bad.

There has been plenty of better players than him who have had worse world cups.

On his day Sammy was unplayable and he gave us some great moments but he didn't have his day often enough. Scored some important goals and some excellent ones but was never consistent enough. Averaged 1 goal every 4 games or thereabouts and for me Griffiths is by far the better striker. HH.
