Ed if this is to long to post it's cool. Just wanted to have a rant at salmond, hopefully my fellow tims will tell rent a quote where to go to.
Mr Salmond

I am writing to you to express my extreme disgust at your reported comments on the plight of Rangers FC. To speak for or pretend you know what the vast majority of Celtic fans feel is at best foolish. Let me inform you that as a Celtic supporter and someone who is in constant contact with Celtic supporters that we would quite happily watch the biggoted organisation that is Rangers FC dissapear from our society forever.

You describe Rangers as part of the fabric of Scotland, if this is true maybe this is where we are failing as a nation. This"great institution" had a non-catholic signing policy for over 100 years. Even after this the catholic players they did sign were warned not to bless themselves in front of their own support. Even more recently they removed eggs Benedict from their club menu within minutes of the new pope being announced. Hardly the shining beacon of Scottish society you are trying to portray.

At a time when the countries financies are in a real mess and there have been cuts in every sector, including cuts in the public sector where your party is in control of these finances I find it astounding that you are urging HMRC to come to some sort of deal with a company that has allegedly been cheating the public purse for over a decade. Even during the time HMRC were taking them to court their new owner was still failing to pay the goverment the monies they were due. How you can claim to represent the people of this country with views such as these is astonishing. You have watched thousands of people being put out of work due to the financial crisis but still see fit to defend and try to promote this grossly corrupt organisation. Your views are not only not representative of the Celtic support you really seem to have become very detached from public opinion in general.

Not to long ago everyone was up in arms as the bankers were taking big bonuses and bringing the public sector to it's knees but it now seems ok to cheat the public purse if you are sporting institution. Although i find this strange as I remember when Celtic FC were within an hour of becoming extinct and there was no clamour from any political party to ensure our survival. The Celtic support have long been portrayed as paraniod but maybe there was something in it.

I am ashamed to say that I actually voted for you at the last election. After pushing throughyour universally hated offensive behaviour at football bill I was reconsidering whether I would vote for your party again but after your most recent comments I can tell you now that I will NEVER vote for your party or any of your parties proposals. You are very quick to tell the Celtic support to keep politics out of football, maybe you should try taking your own advice, or at the very least keep yourself out of our business. Our board has already stated that we don't need Rangers to survive so how you can contradict the business men who have turned us in to the best run club in Scotland is unbelievable.

I would like to think that the Celtic support you claim to know so much about can look forward to an apology from you but I know this will never be forthcoming.

I look forward to your response but I wont hold my breath.

Regards

just catching up with the posts and seen ed007 mentioned farepack.theres also harte construction and globespan who the govt blanked in dire times.what makes a lying,cheating, morally bankrupt entity,that was still bringing in players when they knew admin was coming,different? NHS on its knees,nurses getting laid off and old people who cant heat their house but lets forget a company who dodged paying taxes.salmond has hung himself on this. im sure the magnificent green brigade will have a trick up their sleeve for ipox,lets keep it secret though as i can see this being one of the great celtic days............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - My two young nephews (23 and 20) and countless mates lost their job with Harte Construction GH. Terrible how they were/are being treated.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Nhs on its knees, old people can't afford heating?? You seriously need to give your head a wobble, you honestly think that one single football team that's been fixing the books for a few years is responsible for the breakdown of the nhs? Couldn't have anything to do with a good few corrupt governments of the last decade or 2??

Canyousaybanana!! {Ed007's Note - Taxes being paid would have went a long way to helping these situations.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Very true ed, but sadly a much less corrupt government of the past few decades would have went a hell of a lot further to help these situations, with more corrupt mp's helping themselves to the public pot, I hardly think one football team has aided in the demise of the nhs

Canyousaybanana!!

Agree0 Disagree0

@canyousaybanana; not the cause but at times like these every 10m helps! my point is ;why are you being championed when hundreds of jobs have been lost with not a cheep from salmond?............green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree0

Probably because baron greenback (salmond) is doing it for political gains? Which I totally disagree with, politics football and religion should be kept apart, but there are more company's out there that owe more a year in tax than one football team and yet they seem to be able to get away with it, before the rangers tax case, how many companies were being complained about for dodging tax payments or not paying their full share of tax? The country/world would be a better place if top tax payers would play fair and contribute like the average joes that keep their companies/governments running

Canyousaybanana!! {Ed007's Note - 200 extra police officers or 2 new hospitals would have cost approx £70 million. These kind of figures isn't someone working on the side mate.}

my SNP letter

Dear Government of Scotland,

I must admit, I can find no credible source to confirm the ascertain that the SNP Party (or members of) has requested leniency from HMRC, on behalf of Rangers Football Club, with regards to the various tax bills that are payable.

However, there appears to be a considerable ground-swell of public opinion that the SNP are in agreement with this suggestion.

I truly and fully understand the arguments that the demise of a Scottish company of the size of Rangers football club will have ramifications to the local area and to Scottish football as a whole. This cannot be underestimated. Some may say that any assistance to Rangers would be for "the greater good" and would prevent Scottish football from a downwards spiral. This may be so, but there is an even greater good than Scottish football, and that is dignity and justice. Not justice for Rangers, but justice for every other football team is Scotland who has been cheated every year Rangers chose not to play fair and pay their taxes to the Government.

I am of the belief that no commercial considerations should be made in the negation of the acts of at least 2 Scottish business men (Mssrs Murray & Whyte) in their dealings with HMRC. They have shown flagrant disrespect towards the body that collects our taxes, which pays for all the social necessities such as schools, hospitals, fire service and the police service. Between 2001 and 2011 it is alleged that they have deprived the Government of approx £30m (not including penalties etc) by way of their use of EBTs, and since May 2011 they have deprived the Government of £9m from non-payment of tax and Vat. This is only the extent which is known to the public and not including other transactions for personal gain which have been alleged.

I would be disgusted, if it were to be true, that the SNP party were requesting leniency to be shown toward a company which has acted in this manner. A responsible Government should never seek dispensation for crimes of this extent. This is public money we are considering, not some wealthy entrepreneur's pocket money. If I were to commit these acts, i would not expect any help, leniency or sympathy from anyone, far less from The Government.

I request that you think long and hard about making any consideration or comment in favour of leniency toward Rangers football club. I also request that you take into consideration the effect any comments or decisions which could be seen as favourable to a Compnay in cheating the tax man, that this would have come Election time.

I must say that I find it startling that the Administrators, the people who are supposed to have access to all of Rangers accounts say that they have no idea where the 9m in unpaid PAYE has gone! And that's the administrators!

As soon as I heard that I had the vision of Craig Whyte on the run in the bus full of gold at the end of the Italian Job!

Wonder if he's teetering on the edge of a cliff right now?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Whyte has seen that car in Tower Heist and thought great idea. Also Ed,did you see him on Happy Gilmore last night?

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - Shooter lol.}

Agree0 Disagree0

They also have no idea where the 24m from ticketus went either, as it hasn't gone through the clubs accounts, which sounds like fraud to me?

also, looking at the comments from the administrators, it looks increasingly likely that whyte is doing the same with the company that he got a 7 year ban for, basically attempting to put assets beyond the reach of creditors.

this is turning into one of the biggest cons in football ever!

it's like me having a company, getting a 50m loan, then immediately transferring that loan to another company that i own. shut down the original company, dont pay any debts and have a free 50m without any repercussions......an absolute scandal! and salmond wants to save this charade?

Hey Ed, hope your good mate.

Had a bit of bad news today, my old great-uncle has decided to go home from ICU (heart op, complications etc) as his wife has been diagnosed with Cancer and won't do her treatment while he is in hospital, so he's giving her a chance and will be passing soon, with some serious dignity.

If any of the Celtic family can recall a game he took me to back in the late 80's or maybe early 90's I'd appreciate some help (dates etc). Was against Hearts at home, we were 2-1 down (I think) and he decided we'd get an early dart for the train with 5 mins left or so (going back to NW England), as we're leaving the ground we hears an almighty roar, we've equalised. Bout 2 mins later heading down the road we hears another roar, we've only gone and won, and we bloody missed it lol. He was proper gutted for me and brought me back a few times a year to see the Hoops, what a reward for missing a couple of goals eh, a lifetime of Hoopyness.

Great memories, great man. HH

Been on the rangers page listening to what they have to say. It seems that all they care about is being successful, winning the league etc. which is fair enough if the books are balanced, what annoys me is that i havent heard one rangers fan say, ok we are in the s**t and we owe people money, so we will take being a mediocre team for a few seasons until everyone gets their money back then we will concentrate on being a big team again. theres a lack of pride at ibrox, if i owed someone money i would do without the luxuries in life until i had paid that debt back, not because i had to but because i am a proud man. Proud of who i am and what i am. if rangers reinvent themselves while ruining peoples lives then the people who support them and what they stand for are welcome to them. They may win trophies and be all happy with themselves but i and u will know what they are and what they stand for.So i ask the rangers supporters, can u really be proud of something that is tainted in other peoples misery or are u just that selfish that peoples lives are less important than a shiny cup.

administration nonsence stink to high
heavens , on Tuesday they are put in
administration , with no working capital
, and tax debts , they get to name their
own administrator who just happens to
be a friend of Craig Whyte , Thursday
no debts settled , no redundancies ,
no cost cutting , but suddenly the money
is there to pay the Policing for Saturdays game
, the players February wages , but teams
owed money by Rangers will have to
struggle on without it , Alex Salmond is
backing Rangers fight , but was willing
to let Hearts (who he supports , alledgedly)

Celtic have released a statement on Alex Salmond's views on Rangers : "We are very disappointed with the First Minister's claims that Celtic 'need' Rangers and that Celtic 'can't prosper' unless Rangers are there. This is simply not true. In a series of interviews given just 3 days ago, we made it abundantly clear that Celtic has a well defined strategy and a business plan independent of the fortunes of any other club. That remains absolutely the case. The predicament of Rangers is clearly a serious and complex matter with a whole range of possible outcomes. However, we are extremely well qualified to make our own position clear and have no wish to see that being misrepresented for political reasons."

Afternoon ed,

Heading back to my work yard, driving over the Kingston bridge, and look to my right and see the sun shining on paradise and then to my left and see that place in govan I think it's the new asda they planning in darkness, quiet ironic I think.

But to my point Mr Salmond is a disgrace and pi55ed in alot of people's cornflakes as they heard the news, I for one was raging, to come out and totally disregard that Celtic are capable to function without them, I think he should stick to politics cause he is slightly better at it than judging football teams business.

Celtic showed professionalism though by coming out quickly and cutting him at his knees by again stating that Celtic have a stable and relevent plan no matter what teams are in our league which I think shows that we aren't a club that will lie down and take whatever anyone says.

I am happy with the situation we are in, youth in our squad and so on, but also happy to see they finally got what they deserve.

Totally agree with you, we knew the Arab Zillionaire 'Sheik Mahawn' would be phoning, txting and attending secret 'Tuesday Night' meetings discussing this tragedy for Scotland and calling in favours from the 'brotherhood'.
Incidentally, even my wife who has no allegiance to Celtic and my son (who is a blue-nose) was disgusted that Salmond is getting involved in this. I would think he had much more important issues in hand?
If he thinks that he is risking losing the votes of some 60,000 'collateral damage' then as the Mrs said - he is on to plumbs when he next goes to the Ballot box .

Agree4 Disagree6

Bluegrass...... the reason the parkhead and surrounding areas are being redeveloped has nothing whatsoever to do with making Celtic's land more valuable, it's because of the olympics and commonwealth games, and that fact that it already has a stadium, and has masses of unused land

taco

Agree6 Disagree0

Bluegrass....pffft typical..apparantly u aint allowed to be able to see the big picture..i didnt say that was y the council did it but it is a consequate effect...ed u got an opinion on this? wot bout the coefficient annol..how badly would this affect us..i assume it would mean more quals and not bein seeded?as i said taco we would b fine financially but the rest would be in a complete mess and that would not benefit us....greengrass88

Agree2 Disagree3

Something jusrt doesn't ring true with you....i don't see any 'hatred' in Jims' post. but i do see you bleating like a lot of bears are doing at the moment.

why would the co-efficient suffer? rangers got pumped out of two european competitions at the first hurdle...you can't get any worse than that, so that's a stupid argument for a start.

reduced tv mon ey won't make any difference, i dont know why people keep going on about this as if it's THE major income for clubs, when in reality it accounts for around 2-3% of Celtics' income.

attendances will rise, because every other team now has a better chance of a european place

sorry if i offended you, but you really do sound like a bear with those comments

taco

Agree7 Disagree0

GG...tell us them what is the bigger picture ? Tell me the co-efficient just now, is it 'healthy' ? No-one is saying rangers are going down the drain but I would be extremely annoyed if there was any public cash used as some form of bail-out. I said earlier, rangers is not a major employer or essential to the Scottish economy...not to mention the amount of tax owed. Are you honestly implying the Scottish Government should bail them out because Celtic need them ?? Mrs E

Agree2 Disagree0

Ok...coefficient wise..we would lose rangers points ie scotland would loose rangers points.their points total is actually slightly higher than ours.if they go bust scotlands points drop instantly.we would loose europa places.loose a champ league spot ..have to play even more qualifiers than we already do which we wouldnt b seeded for makin even harder to progre and move on...mrs e in terms of tv money check what i said...i said the rest of the spl would suffer..they barely break even as it is....in the long run all of tje above would hinder us surely u can see this?all im sayin is think of out game overall.i said in first post we would be fine..we dont need them to survive but i think we need them in order to progress ....us and the spl..just wot i think tho greengrass88

Agree1 Disagree2

GG if you really believe aw that then you'l also no doubt believe Aw the garbage that in three years time an even biggerer, betterer and strongerer rangers will be back in the SPL winning the title at a canter and destroying Europe so in the long term everythin will be fine n dandy n we'll all look back on this n laugh n wonder what all the panic was

Greengrass, firstly well done for leaving a tag to discuss this with (most of your bears dont know their names)
As Taco said, the east end has been neglected for years, time money was put in there, but it is because of Commonwealth games and also for Tourism.
Our coefficient (Scotland) I believe may not suffer, ok take off Rangers (but your team has been poor recently anyway) but hopefully Hearts, Motherwell etc will seize issue and pick up points (it happened years ago with Aberdeen/Dundee Utd in europe)
GG I have tried to engage you guys but all I get is insults, so now I take the "michael" all the arrogance comes from your "wee arra peeple" attitude.

Ed
lets deal in FACT Peter Lawwell did not use the word Rangers in his statement the other day

Question asked .The other big story at the moment is the current crisis over at Ibrox. The commonly held view within Scottish football is that we cannot survive without Rangers. What is the Club’s viewpoint on this?

PL: We have embarked on a strategy that is independent of any club in Scotland. I think we are beginning to see the product of that strategy, around the quality of the player we are finding and bringing in and the youngsters coming through. We haven’t won anything yet but we don’t need anyone – we are going to focus on our own business, we will focus on what we need to do, to take this club to its maximum and optimise the potential that it has.

his answer has not mentioned any Teams name.

also Dudee united have not banned Rangers fans from the forthcoming game at Tannadice
there chaiman did say if money for tickets is not paid upfront he will not give Rangers FC any tickets to sell but added if any Rangers fan wants to attend the game Dundee Utd will sell them tickets from Dundee utd's own ticket office

once again its the scottish media not reporting what was really said by both clubs
