Lazio have now won 8 league games in a row since Celtic beat them at Celtic Park.
It shows what a great achievement it was, beating them home and away, when they are on their best run in years.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Dec 2019 13:52:07
They were losing 1-0 last nite with a minute to go and won 2-1 away too. They're certainly no mugs. Ourselves and cluj done really well to knock out teams from the so called big 4 leagues.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I said when the draw was made I thought we'd be fighting it out for second place with Rennes behind Lazio, I still can't believe Cluj put us out the CL though.}

17 Dec 2019 17:44:50
Can't remember due to anger from being put out by cluj πŸ™ˆ who was the team in the final qualifier? And how have they fared till now?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Slavia Prague finished bottom of their group behind Barca, Dortmund and Inter Milan.}

17 Dec 2019 17:50:12
That should never have happened ed but u know we'd have got a group of death and got pumped a few times. This el has been as good a run in europe since the mon days. Bring it on I say, loving getting a bit of credibility back in europe.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Who knows what would would've happened but it doesn't change the fact we should have beaten them, I agree about getting some credibility back though through the EL.
I noticed that UEFA - and the big rich clubs have now finally got the CL they wanted with all the Round of 16 teams coming from the Big 5 leagues.}

17 Dec 2019 20:36:22
They were always going to get their way with that, I wonder was there any dodgy decisions against the "smaller" teams that made it that way. I honestly don't know cos unless celtic are playing in it i've got zero interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm the same, I still watch the odd German or Spanish game but I couldn't tell you the last time I watched a Pub League game.}

16 Dec 2019 19:51:58
Ed just read your post, really sorry to hear what your (and many others) are dealing with.
Hope the Xmas isn't too tough. I'm getting on to your food bank donations page tonight.
Thanks for all the efforts on the site- I live down south and this site is the only I get the news on. I'm grumpy half the time but your post puts plenty in perspective
All the best.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate and thanks for your donation, that's us hit the Β£500 mark which is brilliant.}

Ed congratulations on hitting your target. It might not seem a huge figure, but to those who have nothing its massive. it gives hope. well done sir.

{Ed007's Note - I got up this morning to a donation of Β£100 from Albertz on the TRFC site which is absolutely fantastic, that's us up to Β£600.}

Ed I'll donate on thursday if its not too late then. If it is I'll go down and hand some money in to the foodbank itself, is it the one down at the bottom cross? that's the only one I know of in hamilton.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's fine, Steph. Our page closes on Saturday so that people who are waiting for their holiday pay to land can donate. That's the one we help out but according to my Mrs there is a new one opening where the Aulds shop used to be. I'm not too sure if that's true or it's the original one moving as I can't see there being 2 in one town.}

17 Dec 2019 13:53:35
Ed the way things are heading under this mob I wouldn't be too surprised.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Good point, Steph. Btw I've also heard that TJ Hughes had asked about the old BHS store and SLC refused to lower their extortionate business rates that are strangling the life out the centre.}

17 Dec 2019 17:58:40
Thats a disgrace by the way, slc are a shambles.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I know mate, I'm never down in the town centre - the last time I was gutted to see Oliver's the bakers wasn't there lol - but my mrs and mum are always moaning about there being no decent shops and it's down to SLC.}

17 Dec 2019 20:30:26
I don't know what they're trying to do to town centres but most towns across most regions are the same. Coatbridge believe it or not used to be nowhere near the state it is just now, a lot of small businesses have bit the dust replaced by tan stands or curry shops. There's a serious drug problem everywhere which doesn't help matters, who wants to shop in a place where junkies are begging.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's a sorry state of affairs and the so called intelligent folk running things don't seem to be have any plans to make it better. I know parking charges are a big part of the problem in Hamilton but they should be doing what the can to attract the bigger more recognisable brands to open shops plus it would create local jobs.}

16 Dec 2019 20:03:08
Our finishing was terrible wee frimpong laid on 3 open chances goals wide open wee missed at least 5 open goals wee need to bury these if we did game was over in the first half and has to be over we could have won that game 7 nil easy better finishing making all the moves but no end product.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2019 21:00:32
That's why we need to bring in at least one other striker in January. Edouarde needs help and with only Forrest and Christie really capable of double figures; it's imperative we sign another finisher.
We create over 20 chances in home-gamse most weeks and the GD could be out of sight if we had been more clinical and composed.
I appreciate Elyannoussi may chip-in with a fair amount, when fit, but he's only here on loan and we need a long term solution.
Griff has been struggling and toiling for so long and Bayo doesn't look likely to make the grade and I'm sure NL has irons in the fire.

16 Dec 2019 18:31:04
I'm happy with the Europa draw, not a nightmare of a journey and Bitton signed all in all a pretty good day for Celtic.

As for Rod Stewarts little fopaux he should have been well aware that anything complementary said about the tories would cause an unfavourable reaction. Idiot.

Never like his songs anyway and if I ever hear that feck'n Sailing again I will go postal.

I'd love to see wee Jerry Frimpong used more as a winger than a RB. The little fella is an absolute wizard on the wing. Elhamed RB with Jezza in front of him. That's what I'd like to see. I know people will say what about Forrest but I think Frimpong carries more of an attacking threat plus Jamesy can also play on the left. Every time Frimpong received the ball yesterday you could just sense the crowd believed something good was about to happen and the majority of the time, it did.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Dec 2019 18:57:35
Agree 100%, he was a joy to watch. Reminded me of Robert's when he was on song. Incidentally, I would take him for left wing, big upgrade on Morgan and Mo is only a loan. He is out of favour again.

17 Dec 2019 12:07:53
Roberts will end up at a rubbishty london club so he can reignite his bromance with teirney.

If Celtic and Sevco meet in the last 16 of the Europa league, it would mean we would play them 3 times in a week.
Thursday first leg in the Europa, then away to sevco in the league on the Sunday and then the second leg on the Thursday again.
It would be luck of the draw to determine who would be at home in the 2nd leg.

Why we are the seeded team.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2019 17:44:20
Marco, there is no seeding in the last 16 and we can be drawn against anyone.
The draw will determine what leg we will play at Celtic Park.

Not impressed with the Green Brigade yesterday, our club should be open to all regardless of race, creed, gender, sexuality, political allegiance.

Scotland in general has a problem with this, but we shouldn’t allow it to infiltrate our club. How people chose to vote is entirely up to them.

Hope the GB get hammered.

{Ed007's Note - Gerry obviously wouldn't have any problem with the likes of Tommy Robinson, the EDL, BNP or Britain's First canvassing outside Celtic Park. Gerry is obviously one of those fans that thinks this guy should be welcomed at Celtic.

16 Dec 2019 17:57:00
How long have the green brigade made there feelings known this isn't like it's just happened they have had there opion's since its been formed so why not be bothered with it rod knows what he done and people can voice there opion when he says things and don't stick by it he was steaming drunk in the directors box and causing trouble 74 man with a young boy is that not embarrassing meant to be a celtic man where is his dignity but he can make statements saying the gb behave it's self really when he is a shining example he only gets in because of who he is so stop feeling sorry he caused it himself 74 alky he should have retired years ago still singing everybody's songs as bad as Bruce forsthy he was 90 when he cashed in rod just come watch the games and be happy keep your opion to yourself then we can stop all this.

16 Dec 2019 18:49:49
What the GB did. Is it any different from the red card display at Thatcher cup final. Was at both and I genuinely don't see any difference. Too many modern day drama queen social media hyperbole.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Dec 2019 18:50:36
Clearly there is a difference between a centrist political party and those who promote 'hate speech', personally I’m a libertarian, almost to the point of political anarchy, but I respect the rights of people to vote for whoever they want. The leftist/ socialist rhetoric is very off putting sometimes.

Thoughts on the performance against Hibs :

Forster had nothing to bar sparing Julien's blushes.

Ajer and Julien solid. Special mention to Ajer for that last ditch tackle in the 1st half.

Bitton is not a Celtic player never mind a centre half. I know a lot of you rate him on this site but I really don't see it.

Bolingoli was a bomb scare in the 1st half.

Frimpong was easily MOM. Should have had a couple of assists to go with his goal. Lad looks special.

Brown was superb. Lost count of how many times he won the ball back for us in the midfield.

McGregor had an off day though work rate was good. Ntcham showed flashes of what he can do.

Forrest was out of position but done a job. Edouard looks a bit rusty but good finish for his goal.

Lennon took a chance with the formation but it worked. Hibs were awful though.

Overall good day in the office.

I think we really need to bring in some real quality very soon to take the strain off Broony and allow Cal-Mac and Forrest to be rested as they have been almost ever-present for club and country so far.
With Sinclair out of the picture and wondering if Ntcham and/ or Rogic will actually play well, it leaves lightweights Morgan and Johnston while Elyannoussi regains his fitness.
I've also commented on Bolingoli below and would prefer Bauer/ Taylor.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2019 11:44:22
I thought it was a comfortable win but we seem to have lost the cutting edge that we had earlier in the season.
The last home game against Hamilton and yesterday against Hibs were tighter in terms of the scoreline than they should have been considering the chances we created.
I know I've moaned about it before but I don't think this break in January should come at the expense of having to play all these fixtures in December. Teams are now having to rotate their players every game which I think reduces the quality.
If there has to be a break in January can the fixtures not be spread out better over the season?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Dec 2019 17:26:59
@Gerryc
Don't you think we are breaking teams down a lot better now under Lennon.
We actually look like scoring everytime. There was no Christie this time doing the graft and we still broke them down. I thought Forrest stuttered a little bit fatigued then he shut me up with an assist to french eddy then goal.
Frimpong is getting better every game but the main thing I'm happy about is when a Celtic defender attacks someone else pulls back and covers so not so easy to take up on the brake now.

When you look at why our club was founded to help the poor and refugees then surly you can understand that why we should be sending out a clear message that no Tory supporters are welcome at our club. a political party that has nothing in common with our great club. so well done the Green brigade.

{Ed007's Note - Does nobody remember the 1988 Cup Final when both Celtic and Dundee Utd supporters gave Thatcher dog's abuse and had a red card display? I'm sure there were players that refused to meet her even though the SFA tried to force them to, I remember (or probably read it since) that Mick McCarthy was particularly outspoken because of what she had done to the mining communities in Yorkshire.
Imagine the uproar if the TenaCSC had been about back then! πŸ˜‚
