Ed, please your view on this

The reason I believe we have misfiring strikers is due to the lack of a STRIKER coach! Ledley, Kayal, Ki, Brown you could go on have all benefited from parker/lennon having played there same as Mathews/Izzy/K Wilson/Mulgrew (arguably in both positions via Mjallby/McGrain coaching surely it is time we asked someone like Chris Sutton back to coach the strikers we missed a beat with Henrik not being/having a club even if you had given Sutton/Hartson/Larsson three month almost rolling contract to freshen things up

A rest my case with Stevie Woods(who is one of the coaches NL trusts most btw!) and big FF

you hear big Balde saying he is out practising with Danny McGrain surely the answer lies in coaching since we cannot shop for the big name strikers!

Thanks

{Ed007's Note - I don't think goal-scoring is something you can learn, you've either got it or you haven't.}

Heard Shearer recently say how himself and Sutton used to practice there moves every day at training, and it worked for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - How is that coaching? There's a world of difference between working with your strike partner and someone trying to teach you how to score goals.}

I've previously criticised this idea. I don't think henrick Larsson on a full time coaching role would improve stokes and pukki, for instance. They'd start thinking too much in each attacking opportunity instead of naturally using their instinct. And get worse. If u can coach it, all they need to do is watch and copy Messi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pukki just needs to settle. Of course, if a striker coach (whatever that is) is brought in he'd get the credit for what is inevitably going to happen.
Finnbogasson was origally worth £2.5m, before we showed interest. pukki cost £3.2m.

Ed, Shearer said that there understanding did not come naturally and it was all down to work they did at training. I could be wrong but I would guess that there was a coach involved . And if any forward at Celtic needs to be told how to score then they are beyond help.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You're only guessing that a coach was involved. Strike partners will always work together to get used to each other's style and movement etc. What purpose would a coach serve in that environment? Just like a coach can't teach you how to score goals he also can't teach you how to play alongside someone, that only comes through practise on the training ground, the only part a coach would play would be to put crosses in for them or play the role of a defender, most players get younger players to do that kind of thing for them and it's not classed as coaching.}

Now that we are out of Europe, having been totally outplayed & with the current first team being low on quality & needing major rebuilding, what about Steve Clarke or even Zola replacing Neil Lennon? both are far superior tacticians than NL & either would be able to get us playing the Celtic way (fluent passing, high tempo attacking football)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Aye, that's how they have both been sacked then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Superior tacticians? have you seen Watford or WBA lately. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

So your saying Lennon is better! Get your heads out of the sand! Are you honestly saying Lennon knows more about tactics than these 2? we are currently nowhere near EPL standards & will not get even close to that standard with the current coaching setup & squad! We are sadly playing in a very poor domestic league which will only get worse, Europe is where the real money is & Lennon has clearly shown he doesn't possess the skills to take us any further, & also seams unable to attract any high quality players, if your saying Clarke knows nothing about tactics I suggest you ask Mourinho oh & don't forget almost every manager has been sacked at some stage in their careers!

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 so I guess Lennon knows nothing even though he has made the most points by a Scottish clib in the cl which you say is the best. Beating barca and holding them off plus other great clubs, I would like to see how many epl clubs could do what Lennon did last year, only arsenal was I the last 16 with us. Yes this year wasn't great but a little bit of luck and it could have been different. I guess you would be on here next year saying how great he is if we top our cl group or go unbeaten this year winning the double eh. Some pp

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Lennon has not enough tactical experience as he was pitched in to this massive job virtually untested.
He is picking up experience, but has to be seen to be learning from mistakes and I don't see this happening.
The back room staff are also pretty devoid of ideas when things are tough and any of the two guys above or similar should have been approached long before now to assist the manager and help him improve.
As NL is too stubborn to ask for help it should have been mandatory when he got the job. It would have benefited the team and the manager no end and possibly made us as successful as we should be in the current situation in Scotland.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic should currently be enjoying the most dominant period in our proud history, with the current state of Scottish domestic football winning the SPL & ALL domestic trophies is surely a pre requisite for a club the size of Celtic! Let's be honest there's no need for a tactical genius to achieve this in the current climate?! (Unbeaten in the league but with some very fortunate results), But if we are to succeed at the highest level I.E. Later stages of the Champions League (where we need to be) a far superior squad, management team & tactics are clearly required, Lennon has clearly failed us in all 3 of these departments,

Agree0 Disagree0

Op, 3, 6, If 6 had not used the word's, OUR proud history, I would have said, I smell $hite, from the sevco page's.A wee question what have these two chap's won in their managerial career's, EXACTLY ZILCH, how much money have they spent, away and give yourselve's a shake FFS.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Tambhoy FFS! are you seriously saying Lennons the better manager? if Lennon had been at either West Brom or Watford would he have done any better? Of course NOT! so who's talking shat?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget these guys we should NEVER lost WGS and a lot of you didn't give him credit because hd wasn't a celtic man. What chance does anyone else have. The only thing that saves NL from more people calling for his P45 is his affinity with the club. And he's doing good things with Scotland now. Our loss

Agree0 Disagree0

@8 As the old football saying goe's Mr No Name, show us your medal's, where are Mr Clark's and Mr Zola's as manager's, oh that's right they havn't got any, are you psychic, how do you know what lenny would have or would not have done, tell me where are these two now, wait with bated breath.I KNOW who's talking $hite, could it be sevconian $hite.
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@9 Stu88 I was a big fan of WGS, it also annoyed me the way he was treated by SOME Celtic fan's, why should Neil be sacked, he is learning his trade, the same as WGS had to, I could see your point if he has won nothing but guess what, he has and got us into the last 16 last season, with the league he is working in and the money he has to spend he is doing ok in my opinion
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@Stu88 I'm with you on that, WGS doesn't seem the type to be bossed about. His style of football wasn't the best, but it was successful. Lennon's isn't much better, but isn't as successful (ie, the constant cup slip ups). The worst thing about the Lennon / Celtic to the core patter is the fact he said himself the first time he attended Celtic Park was the day he signed as a player. He was an Irish Nationalist from an Irish Nationalist community in Lurgan. That's as close to a Celtic fan he was.

Ed a question and sry if its a headache, do you know what the hooper deal is? We got 5mill I believe, but is thier any bonus involved to raise the fee with number of goals or a sell on fee?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - As far as I know it was just a straightforward transfer and the only clause included was that Norwich have the option of a one year extension on Hooper's initial three year deal.}

Could anyone tell me what is currently happening with Tom Rogic?
He appears to have massive potential yet he hasn't even featured on the bench in recent games. Is he injured and, if not, has he fallen out of favour completely?
I'm at a loss as to why we've signed him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is out injured.

Mohamed Salah. Egyptian lad worth a look guys. check out and let me know your thoughts.HH

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - There is no chance he could end up at CFC, Basel will be looking for a fee in excess of £10m for the player. Liverpool, Dortmund, Spurs and Fiorentina have shown an interest in Mohamed Salah, and Basel will look to sell in January now they have dropped out of the Champions League.}

As if to illustrate further where Rangers are now in the countdown to Thursday, their most recent game - against Stenhousemuir at Ochilview - was called off, reportedly because of "structural damage" caused to the main stand after a burger van reversed into it.

-Sally asked if the van was alright and asked for three quarter pounders with blue cheese.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sally was driving it at the time the van owner was in the toilet lol

totally agree mate. haven't saw anyone since give vvd a uncomfortable game and that was him against our whole defence and midfield cause he was there only outball

Agree0 Disagree0

I think his contract is up in the summer, maybe ed can confirm. I don't see him getting near the bench never mind getting a game. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Bangura's contract runs till 2015.}

Cheers ed. mark

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome mate.}

@1 - What game were you watching? Wilson and Ambrose were the centre halves in both games against Elfsborg. VVD wasn't even a Celtic player.

Happy 57th birthday tommy burns GBNF R.I.P

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a man, when Ghod made Tommy Burns he broke the mould. Mr. Celtic without a doubt and he was treated very shamefully by Celtic when he was relieved of his management duties, yet his love for all things Celtic always shone through and he rallied to the cause when we need him most many a time. If ever someone deserved a seat in the main stand next to St. Peter it was that man. Thank Ghod for Tommy Burns. Ar Dheis Dè

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry couldn't care less, Gary Who?. Just another journeyman pro who used Celtic as a stepping stone. His loyalty was to his pay check nothing else.

Alrite ed how's you? Noticed on ssn ed that Steven Taylor at Newcastle might be looking for a move what do you think? Also what have you heard or think the club will do in Jan with players coming in or out? Personally would like to keep Ledley but if he wants to go then it has to be in this window and Samaras is Samaras the quicker he's gone the better. Didn't look interest at the best of times but some how he's surpassed that in the past few weeks.
