Just got round to the podcast, another great effort. It’s interesting hearing everyone’s views. Looking forward to Sunday’s.

I think potentially the biggest signing of the summer could be Harkin if it happens. An appointment like that would give the club and the incoming manager the structure and systems in place to really push on.

Sad to see Klimala is set to leave. I always liked his desire and attitude, and I would have liked to see him get a season on loan to a team like Hibs to see how he developed.

Hail hail.

I have just listened to it too. Some good discussions and i thought that Welshy made some good points. I think that there are quite a few of the guys on here that it would be good to catch a few beers with.

Sevvies flipping there lid all because JK quite rightly stated that on our day we can beat them, that's all he said but the press twisted and the sevvies pounced. would love us to pump them for JK himself, oh and to shut them up 20 years of failure taking its toll.

Listening to snyde sbb and they mentioned a free kick, and it got me thinking of the free kick by di canio which im sure tosh mc flicked up for him v them which hit the bar, my God if that went in I think I would still have been celebrating now.

PC Dibble was the goalie.
Di Canio later thought he was Top Cat when he threatened to break Zelda’s legs.
I Definitely blame reading Timalloy’s comments for years. 😂.

Next week things will start moving. Celtic in my opinion wouldn't want to announce a new manger without the new CEO being in place.

Surely GT is 100%correct, if we announced a new manager under an outgoing CEO it wouldn’t make sense or even look right, we need the new CEO in place first then the other positions will be filled .

16 Apr 2021 17:38:29
That makes sense but I hope Dominic announces the D. O. F and then a Manager - in that order. HH.

For Sunday we're going to try something a bit different so hopefully you will join us and enjoy what we're trying to do. Instead of just the usual live chat we do on here we're going to be on Youtube for most of the day.

This is the plan:

14:30: Team discussion and a preview of the game with a guest for half an hour build up.

15:00: Paul will fly solo and provide match commentary.

15:45: We talk about the first half and do the prize draw for Robroy's £50 Amazon gift card live.

16:00: Back to Paul for the second half.

16:45: We look back on the game for 15 mins or maybe 30 with 1 or 2 different guests.

17:00 - 17:15: We close the show let everyone go and get fed etc etc.

AND THEN

19:00: A Bawz & Bovril Podcast about the game where we have different guests on for say 15(ish) minutes at a time.

If you're interested in coming on let me know on Skype, mail or the Discord and we'll sort it out.
We plan to introduce a new section to the shows where at the end before we close we read out a funny light hearted story about Celtic and following them so if anyone wants to write a short story just send it to me and it'll be read out. It's just something to give us a chuckle at the end of the show and get you guys more involved.
Let us know what you think. HH

What’s happening with Karamoke Dembele, this kid was constantly in the news and you never hear anything of him anymore - I take it he is another youngster not going to make the grade at Celtic and move on?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 Apr 2021 09:55:44
I’m sure when a player turns 16 years old, they’re only allowed to sign a maximum 2 year contract.
Dembele has failed to make an impact and he will be free to leave at the end of the season.
With Forrest injured and Shved out on loan, Dembele was the only natural wide man near the 1st team at the club ( for the right side ) but he was still unable to force his way into the side.
It’s obvious he’s got the ability and a run in the team would’ve brought that talent on.
But reports have suggested his attitude could’ve been better.
It’s a shame how it’s unfolded for Dembele because the fans believed we had a superstar on our hands and we were looking forward to watching him progress.

He seemed so humble the last few years but I guess playing with the English youths has opened his eyes to the riches on offer to rot in the English youth academies. It’s sad because if he knuckled down he could make it here then earn his move. I’ve not seen anything about him recently but he is/ was too lightweight, u can make it being small but u have to be strong.

I'm worried the longer it drags-on - the bigger the anti-climax. There was a time when the Celtic manager job would have been highly sought after and I appreciate very few would have wanted to be associated with the season we lost the ten, but that's well gone, so come on Celts give the support and the players, still loyal to the club, something to get excited about and start the rebuild now.

Just my opinion regarding the managers vacant, the fact we’re in a cup competition makes a new manager comming in in a difficult situ, imagine say Howe comes in and god forbid we don’t reach the final or win it, there would be a lot of detractors vocal in there concerns if he’s up to the job, as much as we all crave an new appointment think we have to be patient for a few more weeks.

been hearing howe has been wanting Hughes in that would mean we don't get Harkin. its been rumoured we wanted Harkin as DOF if your asking me to choose howe or Harkin then I'm Harkin all day long.

can always find a good coach some were else i think Harkin will bring something great to Celtic just need to look at the players he has helped bring to our club. its not what you know its who you know and he has been part of an elite football structure for so many years now and being doing a great job there. DOF picks the head coach not the other way about.

Agreed 100% for several reasons.

Hughes doesn’t sound like the man for me.

Neither does Eddie Howe.

Harkins does sound the man to me as you say.

Breaking the link between the DOF and coach also makes sense from the perspective that the reason for having this model is that the football side of things from youth development to recruitment carries on uninterrupted when coaches come and go.

If Hughes and Eddie Howe are buddies there is an even greater chance the former may follow the latter WHEN he moves on sooner rather than later when the mighty EPL comes calling. That’s self evident given Howe wants Hughes to follow him to Celtic. So the big red warning sign is there. We’d be walking into the problem scenario with open eyes. Madness.

Break the link and tell Eddie take it or leave in the hope for me personally that he leaves it.

I totally agree UI.
In my mind the Club should be building for the long term, not a season or two and then it's a case of getting another manager in.
This should be about the whole footballing structure of the Club, from top to bottom, every age group.
It should be about creating an identity and an ethos that every player buys into and that ultimately drives success on the pitch for years to come.
Get the D. O. F in and go from there.

16 Apr 2021 10:02:08
I thought there was room for both Hughes and Harkin.
Hughes would take over from Hammond as head of football operations.
And a new position at the club of DOF would see Celtic appoint Harkin.
Everyone is a winner.
Howe would get his man that he knows and trusts in Hughes.
And the club get Harkin who will still be there if Howe and Hughes decide to leave after a couple of seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Apr 2021 16:32:08
buzz does the DOF recruit players we would be just creating a job just so howe gets his man. how would harkin feel about not being able to recruit if he was the man we hired as dof.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's two different jobs, Hughes has been tipped to become Head Scout (or some other fancier title) who works alongside the DOF in identify players though he is technically under the DOF. Recruitment is only a part of the DOF's remit and as Buzz said, Hughes would replace Hammond.
Whether it Hughes or someone else Celtic need to replace Hammond.}

16 Apr 2021 17:18:19
is that how it would work then ed . what's your thoughts on harkin is he some one you are keen to come to the club. i think with his contacts he can move us forward in a big way.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah UI. Basically the head of all the departments on the footballing side report to the DOF. Typically, a Director of Football, or Sporting Director, will act as a buffer between the Board and the footballing side of the club. He, or she, would typically take responsibility for all footballing aspects of the club – which means the first team and the lower tier teams (although they will have someone who sits as a buffer between him and the ladies and youth teams as well). In all cases the scouting network will report in to the DoF/SP via a Chief Scout and that in many larger clubs is a world-wide operation. In some cases, although typically not in the UK, the Director of Football will look to instilling the same ethos for the game throughout the club’s footballing structure. Examples of this are best seen in the Netherlands with the likes of Marcel Brands when at PSV, Frank Arnesen now at Feyenoord, Martin van Geel and Marc Overmars at Ajax. Similar approaches have been taken in Spain where Txiki Begiristain did the same at Barcelona and is doing the same at Manchester City.}

16 Apr 2021 19:22:20
i see now mate i thought the DOF just sorted out players for the manager. he is basically just running all the football side of the club for the board. Dominic McKay will be running the money side and the club brand the DOF running all football side this new set up looks good McKay has a great cv with building stuff up and pulling money in and making the brand bigger. really looking forward to the summer if we get the manager appointment spot on this set up could move us forward massively.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Spot on, and the reason I think Harkin is a better bet is that we want the DOF to be here long term even when managers come and go.}

16 Apr 2021 20:31:32
mckay and harkin seem like a good team ed looking forward to this summer.
