So Paul Lambert is new Soke manager. Good luck to him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - With Lambert spending time in Germany - I think he took his coaching badges over there as well - I'm surprised by how poor the football and tactics his teams play. I had him pegged as a future Celtic manager but after watching his teams I'm not keen at all. Hopefully he does well though.}

15 Jan 2018 23:15:56
I’d every respect and administration of him and everything he did for us until his announcement that the Oldco been regulated to the third tier was a blow to the Scottish league.
Like wtf so is blatantly corrupt cheating 🤪
New teams start at the bottom the Sevco has the advantage best in the third tier. All other new clubs start far lower than that.

hes entitled to his opinion (or being political not wanting to sound petty)

I liked him as a player but as a manager his whole demeanour is defeatist, like Southgate when he was at boro, always looked like he was going to burst into tears.

I just think MH is a far better manager and if they has someone better lined up, fair doos, maybe they just needed a change.

One of the most underrated players Scotland has ever produced but he is a rotten manager.

I agree with u Leeds, he shouldn't have said that. Even some rangers fans I spoke to at the time said that Spartans or a similar team that's been knocking on the door for a while should've taken their place. They were extremely lucky to be given a place in the 3rd division. Anyway leeds celt my daughter is going to Leeds this weekend with her pals, their only 18 is there anywhere I should tell them to avoid?

Stephboy, Leedscelt will have more local knowledge but I am in Leeds with work regularly and the city centre is full of good pubs and restaurants, Holbeck area has had bad reputation for years. I was in Shenanigans for ROI game against Denmark at end of last year and great atmosphere and loads of Celts (at least for first part of game) . If they like fancy but expensive cocktails there is The Alchemist and if looking for great beer selection Tapped near train station.

Your welcome Stephbhoy, it is a nice city centre and I guess you would just give same advice like any night out, I say guess because I'm not at that stage - it will be another 10 years before my boys are that age. I'm sure they will have a great time. Cheers.

I'm beginning to wonder if we really do have a good signing up our sleeve, I have a feeling we will make one more signing this January, sadly, I think it will be a winger on loan, that will be it, we will then be told "how difficult" it is to sign players, and even if we make CL next year, it will always be the same, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get to ten titles in a row, as we never strengthen properly, and they'll prob let sevco in the back door over next few years. really disappointing stuff from the hierarchy.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

15 Jan 2018 16:32:08
There's still time for signings mate, i don't believe for a second there's not things happening behind the scenes regarding signings. Rodgers knows we need more quality, I'm sure he also knows who we need to ship out. To be honest, any big signings especially ones that cost a few Bob I'd expect to happen in the summer, don't be surprised if any more addition's this window are loan signings.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Jan 2018 17:42:24
Getting fed up with loans, all I ever hear is us linked with and nothing even remotely interesting either.

We should be at least 12 points further ahead of Rangers yet so far they are the ones strengthening their squad with far better players than they had with what they can afford . loans.

Agree3 Disagree3

15 Jan 2018 18:44:32
Not sure what we are doing. Ever player linked is a loan and in a lot of cases not great ones either. Mean while their huns are buying home grown players. They have seem to strengthen all these positions they see as a problem. Yet we have signed a CB and a winger who has gone back on loan. I know people will say there is still time but l won't be surprised is that all we do. Th recruitment has been shocking and unless we get quality in and not all loans then we will have allow them huns to get closer to us.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Jan 2018 18:53:23
what I can't believe is that some of you guys are seriously concerned about Ragers catching us.

even if they win every game except against us, we won't drop 12 points.

a grip has to be gotten

and most likely they will self-destruct in Partick, Hamilton, Dundee, etc.

Agree6 Disagree4

15 Jan 2018 18:53:41
I am fed up with some people who seem to believe that it's easy for Celtic to buy quality players . Most players who are judged to have a little bit of ability are likely to want to play on the continent where there is a better climate or else sign for one of the forty odd clubs in England that can afford bigger wages than we can .
In the early 200's Celtic could match most teams in England with wages but the TV money available in England has changed all that .
In addition the SFA see their only role is to promote Rangers 1872 and 2012 and when we examine how the Rangers club are doing is it any wonder we can't attract talent.

Agree4 Disagree3

15 Jan 2018 19:32:27
It's highly unlikely we will spend millions - especially in a January window, when the market is so confined and limited.
The squad we have was capable of an undefeated domestic treble and although we do need more quality for Europe, we have done very well up til now, considering the injuries and form-losses to date.
Hopefully the break will have refreshed and renewed our ability to dominate domestically and with the recovery of Roberts and Rogic and the return to form of Sinclair, Armstrong, Dembele etc etc plus a possible new face or two, we should be just fine until summer.

Agree3 Disagree1

15 Jan 2018 20:23:53
I wouldn't worry too much about the players Sevco are bringing in. They're nearly all players who cost nothing and can't get a game with the clubs they are at.
If any other team in Scotland were bringing in these players nobody on here would raise an eyebrow, because it's Sevco though some people are getting in a panic.
If you look at the squad they already have and add these players that they are bringing in now, I still don't see one player out of all of them who I wish was in our team.
If they ever start buying players who are better than we have I would start to be concerned, but the state they're in financially, I don't think that'll be anytime soon.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Jan 2018 20:29:10
As much as I dislike sevco, I have to be fair, they ALWAYS try to strengthen and we ALWAYS seem content to be just ahead rather than bury them, I also don’t believe we can’t get anybody, if they outspend is again in this window, it will be an embarrasment, especially as this time, they are getting better standard of players in than they had before.

Agree2 Disagree6

15 Jan 2018 20:41:51
Why is anyone panicking about rangers?
Even if we sign no one they will be miles behind us.
Oscar 161 which exact home grown players have they BOUGHT?

Personally couldn’t give a rubbish about ragers, what happens if big jozo, and Sviatchenko go at the last minute.
I just don’t want us gubbed every time in Europe, doesn’t do the morale any good at all.

Hi Kev. I simple meant that we should be bringing in players where they team needs it. We all know we need another CB, goal keeper and LB to be able to give KT a rest. A lot of the players have run themselves into their ground the first half and the others have been off form a bit. And it's clear what's behind them is not good enough in BR eyes. To answer your question l should have said buy and loans so apologies kev. They have got declan John, Jason Cummins, Jamie Murphy and Russell Martin as good a done. I would just like us to get in one or two more in their areas needed and not linked to some if they rubbish we have been.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2018 22:35:51
Oscar you moaned that we are being linked with loans then praising the mob for bringing in players on loan.
Martin is a dud and I wouldn't pick him for a school team
Murphy is a not to bad player but that's it.
Cummings is a clown and spfl level and has just proved that.
All they players are for it catching Aberdeen not us.
Come end of the season I'd bet all 3 are back at their parent clubs.
I think we will strengthen. I think another CB will be brought in at the very least.
As for LB I don't think we are in a serious rush as Compper can play there as well.

15 Jan 2018 22:50:47
Man U under Fergie never recruited many players each windows. He developed the players bringing in one or two granted they were quality. However he improved players year on year. Our current crop will kick on again up another level after the break. Don't worry about second getting players if Motherwell or Hearts or Hibs signed these players still wouldn't win the league and neither will they. Don't believe the hype. .

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2018 12:49:25
Kev the problem is we have money to spend and they don't. We should be buying or at least trying to get in quality players to help and compete for places. We all know they have no money and that's why they have to get player's on loan. We have no excuse.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2018 13:32:56
Spot on kwaj a think one or two on here are still reading red top papers. Don't believe what these clowns are printing, it's what they want, to have us believe they're not far behind us. Reality is they won't catch us no matter how many second or third rate players they borrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 12:14:48
To Cjb77 a couple of days ago you posted that it would be embarrassing if they (sevco) out spent us again in the transfer window. What money have they spent, the players they have recruited are loan deals players who couldn’t get a game at their own club plus two players recalled who were deemed not good enough first time round. What is embarrassing is your post, I shudder to think what sort of posts we would read on this site if we were 11 points adrift in the league and out of Europe. Oldkilly.

15 Jan 2018 14:09:50
Hopefully we get a few signings in before the end of the window to help compete in UEL, but looking to next season it would be great to get new players in and ready for CL qualifiers in this window
Hoping that Rogic and Roberts coming back from injury will be like to new signings. Looking forward to a big second half of the season!

15 Jan 2018 13:02:16
Really hope to see some signings coming in soon - Rodgers said this window was key with regards to planning for the CL next season. Should be of even more importance given how poor some individuals have been this season.

It's worrying the lack of rumours but Rodgers has managed to keep signings quiet until they are virtually done so I am hoping this is the case.

I personally don't think we afford to not strengthen. I think we need a fresh injection of energy, pace, creativity. Sure we have enough to win the league but given our budget I want to win it in style, secure back to back trebles and continue our dominance.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

15 Jan 2018 19:00:22
I don't think that our manager or board have decided not to strengthen the squad .
Manager and Board can do their utmost to sign players they have identified as players to improve us, but if players are not interested in signing for Celtic there is little we can do .
Of course B R can lower his standards and sign some waster from the EPL for £10 m just to keep some fans happy.

Anyone manage to see the incident in the Nantes PSG game? Nantes player is running ref runs into player falls then kicks out at the Nantes player. Ref gets up gives the player a second yellow and sends him off. Joke of a ref.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am so glad someone has brought this up! I saw it and thought I was dreaming so had to check this morning when I woke up that it really happened. It is utter insanity, surely the ref should have been giving himself a straight red??}

15 Jan 2018 10:19:10
Or Johnny Doyle getting sent off because the fat Ref could not move and a cross hit him! Ayr Utd away. in those days it was a shi77y away.

If we are so dependent on CL cash every season why are we not selling the naming rights to the Stadium. It's always going to be Celtic Park or Parkhead to the fans so it's money for nothing.

And whilst talking about the Stadium is it not about time the North and South Stands were renamed. Doesn't have to be a Legend etc i'd be quite content in honouring the Jungle by having the North Stand renamed The Jungle.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - would you not want to sell the naming rights to those as well to maximise income? I mean if you are selling the name of the stadium, why not go the whole hog?}

15 Jan 2018 08:46:26
How much money could we realistically expect to bring in for renaming the stadium? I'd rather not but I'm interested to see the commercial value. Slippery slope for me, it would be followed by a sponsor in our name. Don't think there would be much support for it anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2018 17:00:58
We need as much cash as we can generate these days and should be maximising all revenue streams. With our fanbase it baffles me as to why the club doesn't generate cash by doing an online lottery similar to the national one, albeit on a smaller scale.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2018 17:09:10
I'm all for selling the naming rights to the highest bidder. Let's be honest many fans, journalists and sports presenters call our ground Parkhead when we all know it's Celtic park so for example renaming it the New Balance stadium for millions of quids won't change a jot. It's Celtic park for me by the way ☘.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2018 21:04:37
I imagine that P L, D D and the rest of the Board have enough business Savvy to know to look for renaming stadium if there was worthwhile money to be raised by doing so.
I am sure the Celtic Board have at least carried out preliminary feasibility studies into whether it made sense or not to sell naming rights.
