Never been big Frazers first fan thought he could not dive low , but hopefully he has proved me wrong . And that was not a flash in the pan performance 2nite(had a really good game 2nite). Still think we need a really good gk and would still take craig gordan for free .Because I do not think luksa zuluzkis will sign a new contract at celtic(think it is the end of his contract). so we need at least two really good GK's . What do you think BOND .

TamBhoy1974 {Ed007's Note - If Forster performs like that consistently would we need or want Gordon?}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

My point was we still need a second GK , rangers have it with Alexander .Celtic personally have had good GK's but we have never had good back up . I personally zaluskis is good GK but Neil Lennon does not rate him. So who do you think we should go for . {Ed007's Note - Alex Smithies.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If Pardew has been watching him the past few games we might not afford him if he puts a funny money price tag on him.......DH {Ed007's Note - The price is part of the agreement as far as I know. Newcastle can't raise it.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed , I have never seen Smithies to be honest , but i do rate Gordon , my point is i think we need two class keepers and if foster keeps up what he done 2nite . then we will only need one . we will still need another GK. {Ed007's Note - I've not seen much of him myself but there has been strong interest since last summer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If you have not seen him why recommend him. Atleast we know what gordon can do . do not what to argue with hoops fans . would just like know what would make my team stronger.

TamBhoy1974 {Ed007's Note - I have not seen much of him but he is highly rated in England and as I said, NL has a strong interest in him. Aston Villa looked at him before Given.}

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Dec 2011 23:34:29
if we keep the the form we should do well now . no midweek games should give the celtic good rest , after this weekends game (where I think we could lose points ) . but with all rangers mid-week friendlies . it will be an easy catch up or have Rangers cancelled all them mid week games .

Hi ed just like to say well done to Lenny and the Bhoys for putting pride back in the jersey compared to last year getting thumped 4-0 by Urtreah (spelling). I will hold my hand up and say well done to big FF. He was Brilliant. I am very proud celt tonight. I think Lenny is making progress. Hail hail bhoys. Here comes the good times. Bigirishmac

Well the "Whipping Bhoys" who were not expected to be a match for Athletico Madrid , Udinese and Rennes ! despite conceding bad goals and a dubious penalty , have basically been eliminated by one goal ! we gifted Athletico and Rennes early goals , were denied a deserved victory over Udinese by a last gasp "dive" which resulted in a dubious penalty , denied victory in Rennes by a comical own goal , tonight we were denied a stonewall penalty in the 1-1 draw , all in all i think we have aquitted ourselves very well against quality teams , with far greater spending power than us , we have done Scottish football proud after all the recent poor performances by our clubs , well done lads .

Believable3 Unbelievable1

We were denied nothing. In Rennes we were the better side but the Cha Du Ri own goal happened literally in a matter of seconds...we had 90+ mins to win the match. In truth I thought the penalty for Udinese was a clear penalty and their keeper played a blinder in that game. It could've been utterly embarrasing for Udinese but for him, which I guess speaks volumes for the performance. Obviously results mean more but hey we were never expected to finish third and nevermind 90 mins and a bawhair away from getting through nevermind quailfy from the group.

Very pleased with the away performances in particular, perhaps with the exception of Atletico where I felt we basically offered nothing even they were favourites and we kept it respectable. Could've and should've had a penalty tonight, sure, but Di Natale could've had 3 or 4 were it not for Forster.

Overall though I think we did well in that group and I see where you're coming from...maybe unfortunate in some respects but in truth the best two teams went through. We seemed to grow in confidence with every European game played though. If we can keep most of our players around next year and maybe get a few key additions to the team I see no reason why we can't get into the CL with a decent draw in the qualifying stage or get past the group stage of the Europa if we end up there, especially seeing as we've been missing a number of important players throughout the campaign.

Well played Celtic. Not the historical result we maybe hoped for but did us and Scottish football proud during this campaign nonetheless. Hail Hail.

Never a penalty at Celtic Park for the Udinese Game

Ed - got a fair bit of stick from you earlier in the week for questioning FF.
Got to say tonight he was exceptional and kept us in with a chance of qualifying on numerous occasions throughout the game. In 2nd half, the shot stopping was immense and exactly what I was saying in what we require for our No 1.
Still think there are areas such as coming out for crosses that need improving but on reflection of your comments and a sterling performance tonight I'm big enough to admit that I may have been too critical.
It's all opinions at end of day, some people agreed with me, some didn't. As I say, respect where due and tonight the big man was superb.
Team I felt was wronged re pen and if Hooper had stuck away the shot before goal things may have been completely different. At 2-0 could they have got back - doubt it.
One final point - Samaras - 1st half superb - as with most euro games this season, if he played like that in SPL then he'd be one of first picks.
Steveo {Ed007's Note - No worries Steveo, and respect for manning up over it to come on and say that. Football is all about opinions and I respect others when they do have an argument or point (look at how I defend Brown). I'm not saying he is ideal but he's the best we have just now and at his age can only get better IMO. Hopefully some of his detractors will cut him some slack now and give him a chance until the end of the season.}

I've got to say well done to entire Celtic tonight, thought they played fantastic as a team (u can't blame a single player for not giving their all ). Big Fraser was amazing best game for Celtic yet by miles! We can hold our heads high after a very hard Euro league. Well played bhoys keep it going.

I know where your coming from but you could just as easily say was hoopers fault for missing that open goal but the team were great and they WILL win the league.

Paddy {Ed007's Note - I don't think anyone should be singled out for any criticism tonight.}

Yeah was a s**t post from me

How can you say they "WILL" win the league? You have probably been saying that the past 3 years and celtic are still 4 points behind.

We lost fair enough.going from the sion game to tonight we have took a step in the right direction. We should have got a pen, they got a pen at parkhead could go on but that's football comes around goes around. Big Forster did well, as did Sami. Think that gets me is forrest is so greedy with the ball at his feet!

See at the end of the day we made money from Europa, hundreds of thousands? Maybe 2/3 million? Either way that's the difference rangers may or may not mock us going out of Europe but either way we made money that's in our pocket not theirs & that extra cash could be the thing that gets us a signing that rangers can't.

All the same well done hoops although would say we were unlucky.

Evening,

Firstly I think we played well tonight, foster was first class with the saves stepping up when needed brilliant.

I think going out is ok, we have taken the experience from it, and now we focus on the three trophies that we can get.

Also unlucky not to go through couple of good chances but wasn't meant to be, but on occasions also lucky ave not got green tinted glasses.

Lastly didn't want to say to early but I think we are nearly there with turning that rough bend we were on and hopefully put a few by st Johnstone on Sunday.

Hail Hail

6 points from a very tough group :)) Well done bhoys !

Please sign a CB that plays CB not a RB/LB who can also play in this position..this is top of my Christmas list Santa - Mrs E

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Mrs E as you say 6 points is good but again it is a story of if only.... if we had not lost penalty in last minute to Udinese at Celtic Park...if we had only held out until half time tonight.. but at least its more coefficient points and extra money as we get £150k per point so about £1m extra. I agree also a big dominant centre half to join in January hail hail Timalloy

Agree2 Disagree0

I was hoping to get a wee win tonight but as my other half pointed out...do we really want to get our confidence back and then get Man Utd/City in next round ?

When I was at my 2 sons football training tonight, the guy I was chatting to was watching it in the Sarry Heid, was soo jealous & nearly ditched the kids lol

Defo very proud of Celtic tonight Tim - Mrs E

Honestly if we had even an average defence, instead of this totally woeful shambles of an excuse for one, we'd be a decent team, in fact we'd be a good team and would win this game. why? why? why? can't anyone at Celtic see this and sort it out, it really is baffling me

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Only minus in defence for me was cha.get him out

Agree1 Disagree0

Lost a very poor goal,browns passing at times is shocking,cha not good enough,ki too slow,big danny dodgy....forster superb tonite,moved the ball too slow at times but they hung in there,just need a bit more belief in europe...very unlucky not to progress from a very hard group.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think they didn't have a half bad game tonight. Conceding a single goal, albeit a sloppy one, to the joint league leaders of Serie A at home. Take in to account that they are unbeaten at home in the league and the Europa League, and our shocking away record in Europe then the whole team gave a good account of themselves. I had it down for us to ship 2 or 3 at least.
It would have been nice to get to the later stages but thats a luxury we don't have time for at the moment while we're behind in the league and still in two cups. Blessing in disguise. Bring on the 28th and ugly blue crew, we've got them beat ;)

Good luck to the bhoys tonight.

It's going to be a very difficult game
considering Udinese are joint top of Serie A.

Don't write us off though. If we can do the
impossible and actually keep a clean sheet
for the first 20 minutes I fancy us to snatch
at least one if Lennon starts with the front
four of Samaras, Forrest, Hooper and Stokes.

Not been Samaras' biggest fan but think we
may have found his position out wide left.
There is no doubting his pace and isn't too
bad in the air. Rather him in the side than fatty

Mrs E saw your post earlier about new sectarian laws, as we are decent fans we support any law that stamps out sectarianism, but what I am worried about is it seems like a way to lump us together with the shame's fans. We have already seen senior policemen target the Green Brigade, and then Celtic by reporting us to UEFA. My question to police is this, are they targeting the rangers blue order for their chants? Are the senior police at Ipox reporting their fans sectarian singing. All we want is fairness, all we will get is us being tagged more closely with the shame's fans and to try and destroy our Celtic fans good name. Timalloy

Tim, there is Senior Police at every matchthe old firm play in. Dont try and bring our fans into thisyour fans got punished and about time to. We got punished last year and rightly so i'm all for it. Hopefully the minority will think twice now if they see that action is getting taken against the clubs. There is always a crowd of police round at the blue order section and at a Rangers and Kilmarnock game earlier in the season several fans were ejected during there protest against the SNP. So if there is any sectarian singing at Ibrox i'm sure they would report it.

Billyboy1

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Tim just means Eddie Smith has reported us twice now..once to UEFA & the other to the SFA against Hibs. His point is, there is no way Celtic are the only club in the SPL who sing 'inappropriately' - Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

True Mrs E just like gers fans were the only ones that seemed to be getting targetted all we were told by other supposrters was "shut it and behave yourselves then" ...... and u know what, they were right ! celtic and the green brigade should take the medicine they deserve just like the gers fans had to

Germinator

Agree0 Disagree0

Germ...as I said in an earlier post, I didn't just mean Rangers ! I see one of the 'banned songs' listed today belongs to Kilmarnock fans.. I don't just mean the fines from UEFA, Celtic had the hulabaloo with the SFA for reports of this singing against Hibs. I just hope the other teams outwith the Old Firm are warned as well. I mean singing about the Ibrox disaster has to be up there as one of the most shameful acts ever in Scottish football - Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what you mean Mrs E we as Old Firm fans always get the finger of blame when it comes to the inappropraite (spelling lol) songs but there are other clubs in the SPL also who need to cut it out.

Billyboy1

Agree0 Disagree0

Well mrs E im sure all they will get to the rest of the teams in due course we just have to accept that wre both the biggest teams, biggest following and strongest media links (and we were defo both worse than the other spl altho emphasis on "were")
therefore were the best group to make an example of and make it knwon that no prisoners will be taken sorta thing. I seen the list you were referring to .... christ that only took them what two years to release !! bloody joke and let me tell u there is worse iv heard from all sides tbh. and to giv ur fans a lil credit iv never actually heard the ibrox disaster song sung by celtic fans (im sure a tiny brainless element have sung it) but i for one have never heard any mass group of tic fans sing that, Aberdeen fans pffft heard it EVERY time we have played them every single time that and the durrant song you will hear these two sung and every single gers aberdeen game bar bar none !

FLAT OUT ALL ATTACK NOTHING TOO LOSE

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I love the thought of all out attack. Tora Tora Tora! but I fear we will get a right humpin with this tactic, however we will the same if we defend too deep. Mr Lennons finest hour perhaps.. If everyone plays to their potential and the team carry out their instructions from the coaching staff we have a bigger chance than many think. Why not go with the team above, its not a bad selection.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cha is that bad I wouldn't let him park the team bus in the carpark let alone expect him to help us keep a clean sheet. Especially with majstrovic beside him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we do see an all out attacking side tonight. It's the only way we have a chance......but I suspect it's gonna be the same old story away from home in European games. We'll be defiant in defeat and Lenny will be saying he's proud of the players but I for one will be glad when this distraction of European football has gone.

Oh.....and don't forget the early goal we're likely to concede too!

ChrisBhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Reckon we will be out of Europa League after tonight as it has highlighted the teams weaknesses and the managers flaws not to mention, further ruin our respectable european reputation.
We have found some consistancy in the League - even though we are still far from totally convincing and after tonight we will be able to concentrate on doing the business domestically and take it from there. Just compare what players we have now, compared to 8-10 years ago and get things in perspective.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree2

Have to disagree Jim, i feared the worst going into this tough group but we have equipt ourselves well and its no disgrace not to qualify from it. Further ruin our reputation?? We are playing in a Champions League quality group. Take a chill pill and give credit where its due. Sure were no the team we were, but we have proved we can still be a handfull.

Agree2 Disagree2

I never thought we'd get 5 points from this group...i'm married to a Rangers fans & he thought the group we were in was quite 'funny' (for want of a better expression). It was a very difficult group and had we beaten an eligible Sion team, we would never have been in it.. - Mrs E

Wait until you read about Stoke v Besiktas game,
(Ed and myself were discussing this earlier on this week,as i'm sure most people know about the Turkish "fans" and their actions to visiting teams).
The Turkish so called "fans" who are basically fkn thugs (of the worst kind possible) were racially abusing the stoke players,on top of this missiles were being thrown at their players when they were taking corner kicks! This is certainly not the first time and I bet you it won't be the last! So lets see what the Mighty Fifa / Uefa do about this, as this is ridiculous.
When players are actually fearing for their own safety something "HUGE" has to be done to punish this scum.
Once and for all stamp this out as Turkey is well known for this kind of behavior, this calls for more than a fine for sure. IMO the only recourse has to be to kick them out of European football for atleast a season or two at the very,very least, compare this to some song's being sung? C'mon get a bloody grip!
CB67

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Well said. I think there was a mass brawl when Switzerland (who are not my favourite team) had the temerity to draw or beat Turkey in a qualifier a few years ago in Turkey again I am not sure but I think it was the final game.Ed will know better than me and may be able to confirm. The Turkish players basically started to randomly attack the Swiss guys as they ran into the tunnel at full time. An absolute disgrace! Can you imagine if our little Nation tried that one. Not that we ever would as our boys are brought up with some respect for other Nations and other sports people. A lot has been said about the chanting (some of it complete twaddle from the authorities) but as usual there seem to be rules for some and rules for others. Might on many ocassions appears to be better than right!
