Lyon were big odds of 12/ 1

Cool as a cucumber.
Hopefully it will make Man Utd pay the big bucks for him.

to hear liniker hart and ferdinand spew was brilliant. before the start they said man city will give bayern a harder game than barcelona. well done to the mouse.

Surely Barcelona would be far better going for klopp. He's done all he can at liverpool, the only way is down now for them.

16 Aug 2020 10:15:16
stephbhoy2 mabe they will cast there net for the real deal and trot down to govan for the manager of the year. lol surpirised the daily ranger hasn't put his name in the frame.

Ed in your opinion do you think we will go in for hickey now?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We'd be silly not to be trying to sign him but I would probably let him stay at Hearts for another season at least - or on loan somewhere else - where he will be playing every week which I don't think he will at Celtic.}

16 Aug 2020 08:17:17
Seems weird when we have a sell on clause and that muppet Levein saying we have tried to sign him 5/ 6 times! Look at the money we have wasted in other projects Bayo bangura Shved to name a few this boy has shown he can play in the premiership and is still only a kid. I’d have him playing before Taylor.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 23:47:45
I don't think he'd be far away from displacing taylor ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The thought of either Taylor or Hickey being our LB in the CL gives me the serious fear, Steph. Both are good enough domestically and I'd expect Hickey to turn into a top player eventually but CL is a bit of a reach for them as things stand.}

15 Aug 2020 17:24:35
I'm looking forward to seeing the boy turnbull here after his rehab. do you think we will go back in for him ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I think the lockdown put paid to any move for Turnbull this window, Liam as he hasn't had time to prove he's fit & ready. We're still very interested in him but perhaps in January or next summer will be more likely.}

15 Aug 2020 22:08:48
maybe a risky strategy ed? other clubs could be in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wouldn't you want to eventually finalise your BIG move after the way it fell apart?}

15 Aug 2020 22:50:16
Fair enough I wasn't thinking that way. hopefully that's the case. cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

15 Aug 2020 19:04:34
Hopefully Celtic get Duffy on loan and either Douglas or Hickey to challenge Taylor for the Left back position.
They are all realistic targets and if we start to play the 3-5-2 formation we should have plenty of cover.
But if we play the 4-2-3-1 formation I think we still need another winger.
Our fans have been shouting out for a RW but I think we probably need more cover on the left side. If Elyounoussi gets injured we are left short. Frimpong can cover Forrest.
Ideally we should bring in a player like Mickey Johnston except better and more experienced who can play on either wing for cover.
If we can add those realistic players to our current squad and also add a winger, it will be a fantastic transfer window for Celtic.

Was is the latest on Duffy anyway ED? heard Brighton are wanting 2 million for a season loan! That’s a big outlay if u add wages in! I know we’ve wasted 2 million on a numerous occasions on players who haven’t worked but for a season loan it seems steep! Can u see us bringing the big guy in?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If Celtic agree to Brighton's financial demands I reckon Duffy will sign.}

15 Aug 2020 21:23:08
Cheers ED. i know it’s all over social media that we want him but is the interest legit mate? I’d assume we’d be playing 3 at the back if he did come in, or is it maybe to replace ajer or jullien!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it's legit, Danny. Lawwell, Hammond and Lennon have spoke to Duffy and Lawwell has been trying to sort out Brighton

15 Aug 2020 23:20:20
It being reported Duffy off to West Brom.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 22:29:51
Seems weird the 3 have spoke tae the player with no arrangement with Brighton ED, is that even allowed or has Brighton gave them the go ahead? U up for the idea of big Duffy coming in mate? Seen him a few times with Ireland like, not fantastic on the baw but he’s solid and great in his own box and the oppositions! Could be just what ajer and jullien need beside them! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's no secret that Duffy wants out of Brighton and they are happy for him to leave so him and his representatives will be allowed to speak to who they want regarding that.}

15 Aug 2020 14:03:41
So Barcelona took a mauling last night worse than Celtic.
An absolute onslot and not much said. On our papers when Celts got hammered it was everywhere.
It should have been a cricket score.
Maybe we are to harsh on Celtic as any team can get thrashed on a bad day.
But few Celtic fans overdo the criticism on here.

15 Aug 2020 14:21:50
Barcelona have been getting pelters about last night. Watched sky sports this morning and everybody and there dugs were lined up to slaughter them.

Your telly must be broke, they’re getting hammered by everyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 15:49:30
All good things come to an end and we played Barcelona at their peak (a good few times) and gave them a helluva game more than once.
Without Iniesta, Xavi, Neymar and other big names we have faced in our encounters over the years since MON was in charge, they are on the way down with Messi, himself past his very best.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 16:25:07
I'm sure they're getting bartered in the Spanish press.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 17:49:55
Barcelona have never been the same since Tony Watt . Tony Watt hasn’t been the same since Barcelona.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 19:07:20
So . Barcelona have been Tonywatted? And how do they get over this phenomena, do they sign him and play him in a 3up with messi and Suarez.

Celtic haven't been the same since Tony watt and vice versa because everything is always changing.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 19:38:50
Tony Watted or T'watted short? I like the ring of that Lubo ;)

15 Aug 2020 23:42:58
im actually talking about on this page few of you ripped Celtic a new one
i don't care about sly sports Spanish papers etc i care about Celtic.
i care about Celtic and the way our own fans destroy us in Europe
now Barcelona got humbled and destroyed and a few of us are saying but but they never had so an so who cares its Barcelona we are talking about here every player is great let's all bow.
every team could be great if we had so and so or if he is fit celtic have been in the same position some of our best players get injured or ill and don't play in europe and what do our fans say sake lenny get rid of the board, none say if we had griff fit or henrik up front of mousa etc, or if we had 100 million for players,
nope straight to the negative.

15 Aug 2020 13:22:15
Ed any truth about SFA Trying to charge Celtic as a club with the Bolingoli affair? Given that they apparently made the rules up after his incident.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Yes.}

15 Aug 2020 14:05:54
Lawwell and our lawyers will have a field day with this. Most that will happen in a verbal warning.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 14:40:05
Totally shocking Yes if the rules were in place before the incident as a club you would have to take the punishment but laughable when they don't have rules to cover it at the time Rules that should have been in place for matters such as this BEFORE we started the season As I said before the start of the season back in June.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 15:39:31
SFA really are an embarrassment. They don't have a leg to stand on and are going to look even bigger idiots.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 15:53:05
It's yet another sign of what we will be up against all season for any and every incident motivated by either social media, Sevco driven press, establishment apologists and the usual suspects.
It's pay-back for the 9-in-a-row decision and Stop-The Ten combined.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 19:40:19
Its laughable but not surprising, they must have known players would take the piss with the rules, how could they not have punishments set in place and agreed by all clubs before a ball was kicked.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 12:28:36
How does BFKB get away with it. we know he's a a&e conian but surely to god his employers should reign him in a bit with constant gripes at celtic. now he's wanting us docked points for one players eff up . it's ridiculous lawell should be complainng about this bigot.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2020 12:42:56
He is the bitter, ugly face of BSB - Biased SLY Broadcasting.
I ditched SLY sports, when I got a firestick and would urge all Celtic supporters to stop subscribing to Celtic-haters incorporated.

This was a piece in the current bun last week he was saying we shouldn't get to play Aberdeen today because it wasn't fair on st Johnstone. Would he have the same opinions if it was cheating fc doubt it. stealing a wage.

Michael Stewart is on another level and even then.

15 Aug 2020 12:10:03
Duffy cost 4m for a 4 year deal

Brighton own the player and can get that money back, potentially

If we pay 1m for a season equivalent and half his wages that deal wihkd cost us 2m for the year and that feels fairer

He also wants to come. Brighton get their player back in a year and he will have 2 years left on his contract.

We could have a loan purchase option at 3m at end of it IF Duffy want to finish his career at Celtic and give us 3 to 4 good years with european adventure and living the boyhood dream

There is a deal to be done but not 2m and majority of wages.

He may be this, and he may that, but the question is, is he good enough? .

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 14:37:32
He brings qualities that we don't have. is he good enough aindoh? Not sure he has much to measure up to in terms of central defenders IM VHO. .

He will be good enough to make an impact on our central defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 15:21:21
If he is slow and cumbersome, but good in the air, will he cope with fast nippy forwards, I haven't seen enough of him, so I don't know.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 19:09:34
He wasnt lacking down south where they have better strikers whho re faster and cleverer

He will be fine with us but that's not to say that there isn't better out there for us to target.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 11:04:36
Apparently Brighton want a £2m loan fee if we want Shane Duffy, with the player very keen to come to Celtic; so I reckon the question would be whether we 'write-off' that amount or use that cash towards a permanent signing? What do you think guys?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - In recent years we've wasted money on Kouassi, Bayo and Bolingoli so if it's true Brighton want £2 million then it's a no-brainer and if we want to try and make the move permanent in the future then that loan fee will be taken into account.}

15 Aug 2020 11:32:30
Ed have you heard if we have actually made a move to make the duffy deal happen.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've spoken to Brighton and both the player & his agent.}

15 Aug 2020 11:32:48
He should be signed at all costs 👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 12:02:57
2m is nothing when you think we've paid more for players who don't actually play.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 12:06:12
At all costs? .

Not for me . the 2m equals crudely 40k a week, and then there is the wages, say 30k a week

Brighton paid 4m and have a player taking 1.75m a year in wages .

Assume we do the deal for 2m and the wages . that deal would be costing us 75k per week with opportunity to get it back

Ucl qualification would help obviously, but that is a lot of money

Was Duffy ahead of the Brighton player that went to TRFC?

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 12:26:11
As you say ed we've wasted more money on dud strikers get him signed exactly what we need.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 👍

15 Aug 2020 13:16:30
get him in. it would be a massive signing. we as supporters shouldn't give a sh*t what it costs. its a no gamble fantastic signing that if it comes off gives me great confidence that the board realise the scale of this season.
lubo the boy they got was on loan at wigan so yes he was ahead of him. brighton have got dunk who's rated at 50 odd million they have the boy white coming back from leeds who had a 22 million bid rejected and they just signed the boy veltman from ajax who's very well thought of.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2020 13:28:25
Lubo you get what u pay for an sure this deal could be done to suit all parties. we've freed up about a dozen wages with players leaving. hope we don't miss this opportunity.
