How you getting on with the podcast Ed.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I need a guinea pig with Skype and the patience of Job.... 🤷‍♂️
I've been setting things up so that we can stream live on Youtube (with a rolling chat) & take live calls from the get-go but I need to test that the audio from Skype will go into the stream. We can't get Skype to work on Grotbags phone and there's no use trying it on mine lol
If anyone's up for volunteering for an hour or 2 maybe tomorrow afternoon or evening then drop me an e-mail at ed007@live.co.uk and we'll sort something out 👍 I will (hopefully) be recording it but it'll be a private video and I'll delete it once I've sorted out the set up.
Hopefully we can have a live show for the Derby next Sunday 👍

Ffs - just as I was typing that Grotbags says she thinks it's working on her phone lol}

Hey Ed, have you seen the free streaming software called OBS studio? I use it for streaming live music performances. Its very easy to use and allows you to set up live streams using different video and audio sources simultaneously, and you can switch in between them all in real time. I'm not very good with the whole I. T thing normally, but I've found it pretty easy to use and there are some useful tutorials on YouTube too. I've found it very useful. It might be of use to you too. All the best with it!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate. That's what I'm using - well trying to 😂 There's also one called StreamYard that someone highly recommended to me but you can only use it for 20 hours a month unless you pay, it's apparently a lot easier to use than OBS.}

15 Mar 2021 19:28:33
I'm not great with it tbh. Just glad the missus knows a bit more than me with this stuff or I'd be lost altogether. I've never heard of Streamyard. I'll check it out. Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The OBS stuff is pretty straightforward if you have the patience to persevere and look at tutorials. 👍

15 Mar 2021 19:34:08
Bhoy wonder what kind of music do u stream? Geez a listen. I’m sure if u send a link to Ed we can check it out.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah definitely 👍 Get the Rebs on......

18 Mar 2021 12:29:02
Nothing is straightforward for me when it comes to computers Ed, but I just about get by with her help. Hey Steph, no rebs unfortunately, they're saved for private performances. although I have performed a few by request in certain boozers, back in the good old days when live music and pubs were still a thing. I do live looping, one man band kind of stuff around pubs, and since lockdown I have performed live streams on various pubs and virtual bar pages. I have a few vids on YouTube if you care to look. Some live looped covers and some straight guitar covers. Feel free to check it out and throw some virtual rotten tomatoes. The channel is called "Jason Peculiar". Cheers.

{Ed007's Note - I've just listened to Wicked Game and Dancing in the Dark mate 👍👍👍👍👍 and I love The Kinks...... That's you got a new sub as well.

'My CV doesn't warrant Real Madrid calling me. But I also don't want to go down too low'

(You're right Roy and your CV doesn't warrant Celtic calling either. )

'"I felt they wanted me but they weren't showing how much they wanted me. It wasn't rocking my boat. '

(Hopefully somebody else will rock your boat Roy) .

"I felt powerful saying: 'No'. I felt good.

(That's great Roy I hope you feel powerful and good again when you say no) .

Tells you everything you need to know about what Roy thinks of Celtic. He knows he's not good enough for Real Madrid but we didn't rock his boat.

Don't go to low rock on Roy.

Keane is a winner and never took the job with the restrictions that were put to him poor budget backroom team clearly time has proved he was correct Ronny was restricted with players available to him I think he done a decent job and was probably a better coach that both Lenny and Rodgers just never got the budget to spend. Keane will get us fired up that's what we need remember he's only an Irishman Strachan reminded him of that he's not infallible not the pope or god if he wants the job now good if there's anyone better I'll be delighted. tierney is giving the boy docherty a lesson here.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2021 10:32:54
To be fair to Keane, the not wanting me enough, might have had something to do with the board having minimal ambition and unwillingness to appoint him because he did and it would take backing him with a budget. That's why any of the best managers linked. by bookies, would never come if they thought our perennial lack of real ambition would mean doing it with buttons. Our problem is we have a board who let a deed club overtake us using loans. Failing 9 out of 12 attempts to qualify for the CL by never being prepared, wouldn't have many thinking they should be running a menage, never mind one of the greatest clubs in the world. One good thing about Keane coming, he would demand he was backed to take Slippy on. So, for me that rules him out.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 16:32:14
Keane would be step up from lennon in many ways, authority, player pulling power and general profile internationally etc.

Clearly not at the same level as Rogers in terms of player development, but what matters in that regard is the support team.

Regardless of manger it would be a larger concern if Kennedy and the chief scout remain in post.

Kennedy is stale and unproven outside the walls of celtic his body Language with lennon was shocking. The head of recruitment is a long-term mistake.

So Keane is not necessarily a bad choice, but his support team is fundamental.

At celtic he would instill a mentality which has been absent, even during the Rogers era as evident by our European record in that time which was poor.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Mar 2021 17:02:34
Totally agree Imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 17:26:12
As a manager remind me how many times Keane got his team to the last 16 of the CL?

How many league titles has he won as a manager?

How many cups has he won as a manager?

From my recollection his greatest achiement was getting Sunderland promoted from the Championship.

Really have no idea how you reached the conclusion that Keane is a better manager than Lennon.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 17:47:31
Crazy logic.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 17:51:47
In fairness he took on two jobs where the teams where awful where as Lennon got Celtic at a time where we had no real competition

For every good level result Lennon had he had 2 or 3 hugely embarrassing results

You can’t judge the two fairly. Keane flopped at Ipswich Lennon flopped at Bolton - that’s the only things that these 2 can be judged on.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 18:28:57
Not saying i want Keane but going by your logic LAW we should just hire Lennon back as anyone we hire will be a backwards step as they won't be as a good a manager as Lennon.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 18:35:32
There are better candidates than Keane to be our next manager.

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 19:58:11
LennonAtWork are you on having a laugh?
You are going on about Keane not winning any cups, not getting into the last 16 of the CL, not winning any titles but yesterday on another post you said that although he wasn't your first choice you would be happy with Wilder as our new manager. How many things has he won?
How many Titles, Cups had Rodgers won or got his teams into the last 16 of the CL before he came here and how did he do in Europe with Celtic?
O'Neill won the League Cup but what else had he done?
You then also stated in another post that because Ferguson and Mourinho had been sacked that Wilder isn't a bad manager.
You honestly can't be placing Wilder in the same bracket as Ferguson and Mourinho.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 23:04:21
Wilder has a much better track record than Roy Keane.

Rodgers had taken Liverpool to within a whisker of winning the EPL.

O'Neil had won the League Cup with Leicster and done Wonders with Wycombe Wanderers before that. He had also got Leicster to the Quarter Finals of the UEFA cup.

Lennon actually took over an extremely rubbish team after Mowbray, had to sell his best player and done a complete rebuild. In his first season he was up against Walter Smith and finished 1 point behind and after that he won every league title apart from this one.

Now you do not have to agree but I would take Lennon before Keane every day of the week as I think Keane will come in and upset the players and don't think he will improve us in the slightest. Would also take John Kennedy before Keane, although I don't want any of Keane, Lennon or Kennedy.

Don't get me wrong I really like Keane and have nothing but respect for his playing career, just don't rate him as a manager. Getting Keane would make me feel even lower than I did when we appointed Lennon right after winning the treble treble.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Mar 2021 13:20:50
Lennon should never have been in contention to return to celtic. Sacked at Bolton and hibs.

I remember being at the Celtic 7 St. Mirren 0 game which was 40 years ago today as a 6 year old.
Normally we went to the old Rangers end but for some reason, we went to the front of the Main Stand and we ended up getting soaked.
I've just watched the full highlights and Celtic were superb.
It would easily have been double figures if it wasn't for the St. Mirren goalkeeper Billy Thompson.
I was also at the Celtic 7 St. Mirren 1 game in 1988.
Billy Stark who played for St. Mirren in the game above in 1981,scored a couple of goals for Celtic against his old club.
And Frank McGarvey who scored a hat- trick for Celtic in the above match, played for St. Mirren in their heavy loss.
I missed the Celtic 7 St. Mirren 0 game in 2009.
I had my radio at the Albion Rovers game that day because my son was part of a presentation to do with his school at half time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Mar 2021 13:30:04
On the lead up to that day at the Rovers, the kids were promised they would be on the pitch at half time and they would get a kick of the ball.
My son was only 7 years old at the time and he was looking forward to being on the pitch.
But only a few of the kids turned up and they decided to have the presentation down stairs, basically at the pie stall and it was a shambles.
I was thinking of the pelters I was going to receive from his mum for not getting him on to that pitch.
There were a few people on the pitch at half time including the subs.
I told my son to go and get the ball that was on the pitch and kick it into the goals and then run back off.
He missed his first attempt and then he also missed his second attempt.
By this time we had brought attention to ourselves, with me shouting for him to score and this wee bhoy trying to shoot into the goals.
By this time the Rovers fans were encouraging him on to score a goal because the players were starting to come out for the second half.
It was 3rd time lucky and he got a massive cheer from everyone in the ground.
He was over the moon and I was delighted I wasn’t going to get killed of the wife.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 12:48:18
There are absolutely no excuses why the positions that need filled currently aren't.
The club have had months to find, identify and recruit the right candidates.
Anyone who wants to make the excuses of it takes time are kidding themselves on.
They have dragged there heels on every major decision this season and from the outside, look to be doing the same on these matters.
No excuses get it done.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - What if they're currently in a job? Do you think say Enzo Maresca would be willing to walk away from winning Man City their first Under-23 title in years, wouldn't that make him just as big a rat as Rodgers? Roy Keane's got a very generous contract at Sky - which would hit him financially if he left and sour his relationship with them - and could easily be working behind the scenes on taking over.
Just because there's nothing being made public doesn't mean things aren't moving forward or even in place and just need to be announced.}

14 Mar 2021 13:10:01
Remember after wim left it took us months before Dr Jo took over, and we were getting slaughtered for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 13:11:20
Yes but why no Dof. if that position was filled then at least the fans would see progression and an attempt to move the club forward.
Fair enough about a manager.
But this board have just shown how in the football department atleast, there decision making and timing on matters is questionable at best and incompetent at worst.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Maybe new DOF is currently in a job, maybe the new DOF is already working with the Club behind the scenes and making plans? Again, just because things aren't in the public domain doesn't mean there's nothing happening.}

14 Mar 2021 13:22:29
Ed you make very good points and I dearly hope you are correct apart from the Roy Keane part Lol.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Keane would be a success with the right assistants & coaches around him.}

14 Mar 2021 13:41:45
Ed people are allowed to hand there notice in and take up other jobs.
We will disagree on this this one.
They need to get it done.
This board have filled the squad with loan players, players running there contracts down and players in the last year of there contract.
They need to press the button on things and make them happen.
It's obvious there are working behind the senses but there are no excuses. lennons job was under threat from August. The new dof has been floated since at least BR.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's nothing to disagree over, football isn't like any other job when it comes to contracts etc Technically NL would have needed to give us a year's notice if he wanted to move on, we needed to give the LSE 6 months notice that Lawwell was leaving. Look how much we got from Leicester because Rodgers upped and left without any notice being given.
And what if the people are currently working their notice? Just because we don't know what's going on doesn't mean they aren't moving forward.}

14 Mar 2021 13:42:20
Too old school for me I except there would be pluses and minuses with his appointment but from a football side alone I would say no we need a modern thinking established manager IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 13:59:59
I'd be shocked if plans weren't well underway for next season, whether that's simply an agreement with a DOF who is liaising about or doing background work.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 14:02:29
As much as we are all angry about how this season has went. It's ridiculous to think the club aren't working on these issues behind the scenes. We are a club that tries to do our business quietly. Would you rather we rushed both appointments and had another rubbish show next year? Sure we would get a running start with appointing both positions now but what would be the benefit if they are the wrong appointments? Honestly it's so frustrating reading this site with the petulant impatience. This is a critical change in the club's hierarchy and needs to be carried out with due care and consideration.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 14:57:28
I think we could do worse than keano The more time that passes I coming round to thinking why not Old school dinosaur comments I don't really get Can't ever see a Celtic team perform as poorly as Glasgow derby debacle at home under him Players like julien barkas and eddy all need rocket and if can't accept criticism from someone of his ilk. Shouldn't be there . am I only person who thought julien could easily have avoided running into post? Is football really that different over decades. 11 players v 11 players. Could almost guarantee we be fitter and hungrier Seems like could be right time He seems little bit wiser maybe previous jobs too early for him after stopping playing at the very highest level under one of Scotland's best ever bosses and assistant to mon so I would say his tactical knowledge very aware I can't see us going down "modern day manager " route whatever that actually means Some guy winning under 23 league with best youngsters in world? I'd take keano all day.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 15:17:52
SOS-Bhoy - Like you I am certain that the board are working on getting a new manager in ASAP.

However, I do question the fact that they did not have someone lined up as Lennon's dismissal had been on the cards for a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2021 17:30:16
LAW, the whole situation was absurd! He should have been let go a lot earlier. It made no sense to let him go when they did. All we can hope for is that they make better decisions going forward. Complacency and arrogance cost us 10 in a row. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

ED007!reports from the Sun again yeah Keane might be interested but so will plenty others is big question is not who wants it the big question is who do Celtic want and at this moment the papers and supporters are clueless to the answer so the stories start. I have my thoughts of Harkin and Maresca we just need to see.

I don't know who, the preferred candidate, if any for the managers job. But personally i don't see roy keane being the man, for the reason is he is old school, can you imagine the likes of big snowflakes juilenne and eddy getting a roasting off keane, they totally throw toys out. Now, imho we need someone to instill keanes winning mentality, desire and passion for a cause. Too many people nowadays can't take criticism, and for thst reason i don't think keane would be our ideal candidate. But i may be wrong. I don't like man utd, but you only had to see him at his peak and he drove them on, his best game for me was against juve, in semi final of ucl, even when he got booked knowing hed miss final, he was immense.

I think Harkin is more likely as the D. O. F. with the Italian U23 Man City coach as Manager.

If the latter was the case then at least you'd have two individuals who have worked together at the same club and I'd pressume have a good relationship/ understanding which goes a long way.

I also recal the disgraceful scenes after the Alan Minter fight at Wembley.

Yeah the minter fight was crazy at the end.

This was a golden age with some amazing fighters, as you just mentioned with some great fights. I know Sugar Ray beat him on points but Marv will always be the greatest in my eyes.

Hagler was a true master, he could fight you on the outside or the inside and had this crazy long distance jab that you didn't see coming. He would move his feet into position and then just launch himself at his opponents and land a jab with the right and often followed with a left hook to the face.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just reading about the passing of MMH. Watching his 'War' with Thomas 'The Hit Man' Hearns in 1985 got me interested in boxing.

Who can forget when he came over to London and destroyed Alan Minter.

He fought in a golden era of the Middleweight division with Hearns, Duran, Ray Leonard and not forgetting, hard as granite, Vito Auntofirmo (spelling incorrect no doubt) . These guys were Warriors.

He felt that despite all his hard work and achievements, he never truly got the recognition he deserved which is why he added 'Marvellous' infront of his given name so that when the media addressed him they had no option but to say it.

He was truly one of the greats.

R. I. P. Champ.

14 Mar 2021 09:13:59
Jonace, I'd also recommend your son watching another one of the all time greatest ever fighters - Ray Robinson. 'Sugar' was (IMHO) pound for pound, one of the very best.

Particularly the fights he had with Jake La Motta (Raging Bull) , those were legendary.

At heavyweight he could do a lot worse than look at documentaries of, Jack Johnson (way ahead of his time) , the undefeated Marciano, Jack Dempsey and for raw, explosive power, the early fights of Mike Tyson.

Agree0 Disagree0

The age old argument.

There is no doubting how explosive the young Mike Tyson was but Ali v Tyson both at their best - who wins?

I'm sure Teddy Atlas would say Ali won it because he has serious doubts over Tyson's mentality.

LAW, Teddy and Mike fell out years ago. One story goes that Atlas pulled a revolver on Tyson in the gym.

I think the story was Tyson groped a girl at school and Teddy found out about it and pulled a gun on him. This was when they both lived with Cus D'Amato.

As a result they were not close for a very long time. However, I'm sure Tyson apologised for what he done fairly recent and they have mended some bridges.
