Pointless statement from celtic. How can you feel the same way about two very different outcomes. For Gods and Scottish footballs sake just say what you really, really want to say about the cheating and skullduggery. Never mind all the political nonsense and say how it really is. Fed up of all the fannying about with that mob.

Agree a mealy mouthed statement, but sadly Lawwell is all about politics these days, after all he is also an SFA member these days. Just wish they could have added "mr King should show some humility"

Sorry I think the statement was correct IF we came out all guns blazing the press would have crucified us And would have moved the blame to us as it is they (the press) can't touch us for what we said WE DID NOT THRETEN ANY ONE OR ANY CLUB with our statement so fair play to the board for the statement (cant be leave I said that) but its out there now for King to make the next move I don't think he would have thought we would have came out with a statement like that. Looks like King is making so many enemies he is digging his own hole let him carry on sit back with the ice cream and jelly and enjoy.

I was quite pleased with the statement tbh as it tried to distance our club from the nonsense across the city. Let them get on with the never ending circus and we'll just get on with being Celtic. Personally I'm fed up with all this and just want it to end one way or another. Let them keep their tainted titles, everybody in world football knows what they are and what they did, it won't make a difference now.

Was watching the early evening news when they announced that Celtic had come out strongly on the subject of Rangers EBT's. When it got to the piece they announced that Celtic had repeated what they had said previously. Nothing stronger added. I was a bit disappointed in Celtic and the usual disgust at the mms.

I can't get realy excited about all this s**t, what has this got to do with Celtic?, Rangers used illegal methods to win championships and cups, let the SFA and other authorities come down on them, even the most unknowlegible, unuptodate, uncomprimising member of the Larkhall Loyal must be able to look at what Rangers did and make up their own minds, and I must say I find it highly amusing reading some of the posts on the Rangers page, where they try to justify some of the practises.

@Aindoh - They maintain that they done nothing wrong or that they have suffered enough or everyone has it in for us. They don't seem able (unlike the Hearts fans who admitted they screwed up) to take responsibility for their own actions.

They also seem to revere LNS these days, although you got to laugh at the hypocrisy as not long before he let them keep the titles and said they are the same club they were all slating him as he actually had the audacity to rule against them.

Nowadays they are that desperate to keep their tainted titles that they have resorted to agreeing with Chris Sutton and now hold his opinions in the highest regard.

I used to actually want them back in the league as I missed the OF games. However, now I would be happy to see the tribute act wiped from the anals of Scottish Football. The reason I say that is that I have been absolutely disgusted by their bullying and intimidation tactics. Not only that I expect the powers that be to continue to allow them cheat their way to the top, just like their predessesors did.

Good riddance to bad news I say.

Aindoh, I think everyone would just get on with it if Sevco would stop bleating about being 'demoted, treated unfairly, Celtic winning tainted titles, liquidated but still retained titles, etc. etc. etc. '

Rabmac I cannot understand how you are looking forward to Rangers in the SPL . If Rangers Mark 2 come into the SPL apart from their obnoxious support and the songs they sing, what have they to offer . There is no generous banker to give Rangers £80m over draft . I don't imagine they will be able to operate an EBT tax scheme, so I just don't know how they be competitive and we will be watching Rangers one season in SPL and another season or two in the Championship.

Thing that really gets me is they want to keep all they won in those times but don't want to pay every one for the money they owe for getting them, can't understand that one If they paid for them like ALL other clubs had to do and pay the news agents face painters florists and any other person not forgetting her Royal majesty the queen the money they owe the government then fair enough case closed but they want them and don't want to pay is so WRONG.

Forget about the tainted titles. Rangers are going to be in all kinds of trouble for years to come. I don't know if they will get out of the storm heading their way. There were 3 Bears, now down to two as Parks has walked away. King has not invested. Ashley is going to war. Ashley still controls the assets but has not "pawned" them yet to get his £5 mill back! Why, because there may be a dispute about ownership of the assets which will be clearer when Green, Whyte and co go to court. Ashley is also fighting the SFA re King's fit and proper appointment which again may have an impact on Rangers as they may be looking for a new Chairman. If that happens how are Rangers going to sort out the King and co share holdings? King does not need to give his shares back even if he is found not to be fit and proper. So there could be a situation for a period of time where no one may invest as they can't acquire the shares to safeguard their investment. Will King and Ashley etc vote for more shares to be issued in order to raise more money, that is they can find a NOMAD. Ashley won't and King won't unless he retains control and has something to invest in. So tainted titles or the threat of losing them are the least of their worries. King has bought a pup and he knows it now. He has peed off Ashley, another bad move. He has not invested, wise move as its a crock of s**t.

Agree with OB and do not miss them one iota.
I detest the way the 'establishment' and media have lied and manipulated the system to allow Sevco entry into the league After rangers demise and persistence with this 'same club' - same badge, stadium and history nonsense.
I was genuinely hoping that the tribute act club would go the way of the original mob and die - but you can be sure it would resurface as a third version to appease the hordes of bigots that need somewhere to assemble every week to spout bile and display religious and racial intolerance.

I feel for all the journalists who make up the MSSM who to keep their jobs have to create lie after lie, interview the most obnoxious and agree with them . Surely if we could only rid ourselves of Rangers for once and for all, then these journalists could post the truth and the whole truth without fear or favour .

Is it just me or do we have a severe lack of footballing intelligence in our squad and ultimately in Scottish footballers in general?

Tactics are not a hard thing to understand. Moving into space isn’t hard to understand. Getting back behind the ball isn’t hard and neither are simple decisions like letting a long ball bounce. Yet we see the same players make the same mistakes time and time again. The sort of mistakes that you just don’t see other teams (especially in Europe) make as often as you see ones who ply their trade in Scotland or whom are Scottish.

There are many examples of who what when and where this happens (watch back any game of ours and watch our defence) but I’m sure we have all shouted in the stands or at our tellys about them at the time. And yes being human is to err but decision making on the pitch is what separates the very best from the also-rans . Other countries are able to produce these sorts of players on a more regular basis than us and that’s sometimes with lesser finance or population.

This leads me to ask quite a few other questions some not related to this particular topic. Is there a high enough premium on a players intelligence on the pitch when considering signing them for Celtic? . Also is this something that can be coached? Personally I think it can to a degree and it doesn’t take an ex pro to do this. Is this something we generally lack in Scottish players?, is this why we struggle to produce top level players anymore and why we ultimately fall foul to the traditional brave defeat in the bigger games we manage to reach? . Is there more to it than just a players on pitch intelligence or is this also a factor in why we can’t seem to match most other nations anymore even in basic skill? . Is there a mentality problem with the youth being coached up here? Does this tie in with why Scottish produced players do not appear to be as athletic as those from another nation? Does this hint at perhaps a lower overall intelligence in players even outwith football that doesn’t seem to happen in other nations where they can make the dedication to improve and learn more often?

Don't think its any thing to do with players intelligence, think its to do with coaching, or lack of the right sort of coaching.

Agree0 Disagree6

13 Nov 2015 15:48:01
All these instances occur during every game played from kid to junior and all through their career and you would think with experience it becomes second nature.
Coaching or in particular bad coaching has a lot to answer for with emphasis on fitness, strength and theory etc and not enough practice, practice, practice on basics.
I think we have all seen a friend or family member who had bags of natural skill and ability coached out of them?

Agree4 Disagree1

13 Nov 2015 15:54:52
No doubt that is a massive part of it. Coaching can be woeful to non existent at times (but sometimes it is excellent) esp in this country and esp at youth level. But Coaching only goes so far IMO (as I briefly alluded to in original post)

A player can be coached to head and attack a ball whilst under pressure and can be told how to position their bodies and where roughly is the best place to position themselves in certain scenarios, which is fine. Yet when out on the pitch the player then has a decision in their own hands to sum up how the game is going and how to react (or not) . Do I attack every ball? Do I attack this one thinking that the opponent isn't going to get it? Is this one going over my head and going to the person behind?, to name a very few scenarios.

Yet IMO players from up here then go on to regularly make the wrong decisions in these scenarios and keep repeating it. This is a football intelligence issue in my view. Can all of it be trained out of them? Can you recreate enough situations in training to coach this effectively? again IMO not fully as it relies on the individual not just the coaching (which is as you say a big part to preventing it in the first place) . I personally see this sort of football intelligence lacking in a vast majority of players in Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree3

13 Nov 2015 17:27:57
Maybe its like when you over think something you lose the natural edge, instead of doing something naturaly, like going to defend an attacking player you think am I in the right zone? is someone else going to get him? or running into space, you hesitate first because you think first, if you should be doing it, and by the time you move the space is closed down, definitely think more time should be spent playing with ball in practise and less time becoming a superfit automaton.

Evinguu good topic. I think at present there is a list of things up with the scottish game. The pro youth system for one I think appears massively flawed. How at 8/9 and 10 years old can someone suggest that one player is going to be better than another in 10 years. At this point it would be more beneficial to have local scouts out looking assessing game by game for the a good few years. Let the kids enjoy the sport through choice first.

Then when there turning into their teenage years at that point you know with all their young trialed teenage years you'll notice emerging talent. We need kids who through choice have watched their size and fitness; don't get involved in drugs and drink and generally show dedication to their dream. With ofcourse talent above other players.

I personally feel at this point we have the best chance of making the best footballers talented young individuals who for the next 5/7 years you can teach tactics, positional, proper fitness, advanced ball control and moment.

I think scottish youth football is what's falling behind. We take kids to young, don't let them develop enough to enjoy the game.
Ban then from their school team where the celtic pro youth players best mate who he plays beside him might be 10 times more talented than him surely a new target.

My point is we target to early and don't let kids flourish for a few years before we recruit and therefore several talents will go unnoticed.

jungle jim 2 and aindoh youve both hit on things there that I think are very important. In terms of basically having things coached out of you and creating the element of doubt about which option you should take on the pitch.

I dread to think what would happen to players like messi coming through the system here, he would make it as a pro no doubt his talent would see to that, but with the way he would have been coached here he would not be the player his is today.

4leafclover how many pros do you see nowadays playing with a smile (except when they have scored etc) last i remember was ronaldinho. that element of enjoyment is something that just doesn't come out anymore as soon as you hit 10 these days its about winning which is fine but the reason for playing at that age should still be about enjoyment and getting better at those basics and the not so basics.

I've just read an article where Alan Brazil stated that Mark Warburton is doing a better job than Ronny Deila. Unless I'm mistaken, we're further ahead in our league which, although we are far better off financially than the rest, does not include part time teams and contains generally all round better opposition as was shown when St. Johnstone put Rangers out the cup which incidentally we are still in and en route for a possible treble. I assume he is referring to RD's poor European record which is of course incomparable to MW's due to the fact that Rangers have never played a European game under him. I find his comments very puzzling as although Rangers beat Hibs first time round this season, they have since failed to do the business in the "bigger" games (Hibs away, St. Johnstone) . I hope we get them in the Scottish Cup this year I really do. No matter how bad we play in Europe or whatever, we are head and shoulders above them in terms of quality and strenght in depth and we'd put them to the sword. HH.

Wouldn't listen to Alan Brazil Kev bhoy, the guys a prick! Refuse to listen to any of the halfwits on that talk sport! But totally agree with what u say bud! Although I've been critical of RD, and in particular his European record! How u can say that warburton is doing a better job in a lower league and after getting pumped by St Johnstone is beyond me! And for all our problems in Europe, I have absolutely no doubt that we would run over the top of that mob if we meet in the Scottish cup! Which I don't think will happen anyway because they'll get humped long before we can get our hands on them!

To be fair, some credit has to go to MW. I mean the club has only been around, what? Four years? And in only their second season in the second tier of the spfl he had taken them on a good run for a bit and got them top of the league. My only concern is they have peaked too soon. Would hate to see them go the way Gretna did a few years back.
