poll idea ed,, does rd go with nl regulars on tues or shake it up and the youngsters and fringe players who performed well on tour

{Ed007's Note - OK DRB, click here to vote.

I don't think we should be going with a Lennon-esque team. Some of the youngsters have done well pre-season, they should be rewarded for it with a competitive appearance!

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be surprised if Deila plays many untried youngsters in his first very important qualifying match . I think as we move into the season Ronnie will play more and more of the youngsters .

Since RD has said we need wingers what about a loan for gnabry from arsenal? Even if we qualify for CL we still won't get a decent transfer kitty! Yeah it's good to give our youth a chance but maybe 1 good loan a year young hungry players just on the fringes of European top clubs, gnabry being an example thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would rather have Atsu from Chelsea

Not celtic related but just thought I would mention it anyway.

Dundee beat Man City 2-0 in a friendly today.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A strong Man City team at that!

Being from Hamilton, I've got a few Accies fans on . The obsession both have with each other is ridiculous!

Seen folk writing things like "it was Man City's 3rd team" - there was a few youngsters yes, but more than a few first team players + new signings played 45 mins. Caballero, Kolarov, Navas, Rodwell, Jovetic, Mastasic, Clichy, Garcia, Nasri, Sinclair, Negredo, Richards, etc!

Hi all can anyone shed any light on what is wrong with Louis Toshney, Marcus Fraser, Daniel Fisher Paul George and James Forrest would loved to have seen them all get a chance in pre season with Jackson Irvine, Tony Watt and John Herron

John

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You have to earn it. Deila specifically said he wasn't going to give minutes away. Most of those guys have done nothing except Frazer who had a bad knee injury, some of the others were on loan and could hardly get a game for teams like Dundee/Hamilton in div 1 - hopefully Deila sorts this out because the level of kids we are bringing through is a disgrace, also some of them are about 21 now, and you should be a regular at that age.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is inevitable that some of the better youngsters that we bought into Lennoxtown, are not of the same standard when they reach 20 years old old as youngsters of lesser ability .

Hello Ed and the bhoys, enjoying my summer. Who you taking for the WC Ed? Personally, I can't see past ze jermains, the Argies will be relying on Leo tonight, whereas the bosch are the complete team. Vorsprung durch technik as they say in Berlin!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've been supporting Germany all through it, Rab. I usually support Argentina in WCs but I just can't bring myself to cheer on any team with Messi in it.}

I thought as much Mr Bond! Anyway, hope it's a good one.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hopefully.}

Does any one else think that the german goalkeeper should have got sent of for that assault.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed out of curiosity, do you not like messi.killy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No mate, I despise him.}

How come?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's a loooonnngg story but it all goes back to the fact that if he hadn't been pumped full of HGH when he was young (which Barcelona paid for after Argentinian teams refused) he would have led a normal life but never been a footballer.}

With Ambrose just coming back from the world cup, do you think Ronny Deila will start him, or go with O'Connell to start on Tuesday?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My defence on Tuesday would be Forster between the sticks, Lustig on the right, Izzy on the left then van Dijk and Mulgrew at CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd have to go with that as well, playing Ambrose would be a bit of a risk.}

Aye I know mate, and we all know to well how Lennon's risk to rush him back after the AFCON paid off - a horror show against Juventus in the UCL Last 16 first leg that effectively buried our chances of progression after just 3 mins!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2014 14:05:34
I'd go with Matthews Lustig VVD Izza. I recall Lustig being CB for qualifiers last year or at least the Karagandy game and he was outstanding

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2014 15:44:52
I'd go with Lustig there all season scotspur

hi ed how you doing mate hope the leg is ok, was just wanting to know your overall opinion of rd and also if you have heard anything from timmaloy.ps hope you and tim are ok.macca

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm good thanks, Wullie, I hope you're well. I heard from Tim 2/3 days ago, he is getting there and is getting out the house a bit more for a wee walk here and there, I'm sure he'll be happy to see your post, his Mrs has still banned him from the computer but he still manages a fly read at the site.
I've been really impressed with Deila so far, I felt that even in his first interview he showed more positivity than NL had throughout the last 2/3 years. The way he is approaching the job is like a breath of fresh air and given time I have no doubts he will take the club onto more success and we will hopefully see a vast improvement in Europe over the next few seasons as his methods and philosophy are implemented. Are you pleased with him so far?}

I just hope he has more ambition than only getting to the group stages of the champions league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alright guys, good to hear that Timbo is doing better. It's horrible to be struck down by something like that. Miss him on the site as he was always one for lightening the atmosphere when it was getting a bit heavy!

In terms of RD, I am with you ed, 'though its early days, I am getting a wee bit Ayr United about the season ahead. Defo more positivity about the footballing side of the club and although NL gave us results we will never forget (thinking about the positives when I wrote that) I am glad we have got a change at the helm. Onwards and upwards!

LOL @ Ayr United! Am getting that too but not sure how/where some players ie Commons & Mulgrew are gonny fit? Am thinkin it is going to be a more of a "industrious" middle 3 that can pass well , to have a flair front 3 would need to be a 4-3-1-2 for commons to work IMO rather than his preferred 4-3-3 any thoughts on shape/pattern Ed? Would not like to lose Commons especially at PL level atb JB7

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can see Commons starting on the left of the attacking 3 in a 4-3-3, it's either that or as you say a 4-3-1-2 with him playing behind 2 strikers. It will be interesting to see how RD sets them up on Tuseday night

Cant disagree with anything you said ed, it will be interesting though to see how he will set up the team without Broony for so long, i'm like yourself I think when Broony is out we miss that bit of dig and drive, my only worry is there are players who need to move on and I don't think he has enough time to assess and move the ones on that need to move on, but apart from that i'm getting excited for the first time in a long time.ps that's good news about Tim I had my second heart attack in Novmber there so I know what the old yin is going through.incase he asks i'm 40 on Tuesday LoL

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 2 heart attacks before 40! That's heavy mate, glad to hear you're doing well but you'll need to take things easy. We'll miss Brown on Tuesday, but we should be too strong for them.}

Did Fridjonsson feature at all in Austria? When he came across there were positive accounts of him but nothing since - is he a possible or another 'loan player'?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was on the bench at least 2 games and never kicked a ball

Agree0 Disagree0

Starting to think this was a panic buy to paper over the cracks that appeared in Stokesy's game at times last season when he couldn't buy a goal.

We can stick Fridjonsson in the same bracket as Stuart Slater, Tony Cascarino, Eyal Berkovic, Rafael Scheidt + Mo Bangura!

Not celtic related just for banters sake was talking 2 ma da during the football the night about brazil and their team and talking about if we had the money of teams like man city, chelsea, psg so on would there be many players in that team you would take? i'm 28 so 10 years ago they had the team of ronaldo, rivaldo, ronaldinho, roberto carlos, cafu a proper brazil team who a loved watching then comparing it 2 the current squad the difference is night and day. Ma da said he would take thiago silva, fernandinho (looked good with man city) and willian that's it and couldn't really argue that point a don't rate any of the rest of that squad highly at aw same as him and they 3 would probs be the only ones i'd take aswel maybe ramires looks no bad with chelsea. So for the sake of a footballing chat is there any of that current squad you would take if u had the cash? Cheers folks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't take any of them, if we had the money we could get better players. Would anyone here swap VVD for David Luiz? Neymar is the most over-rated player in the world and the rest are very average, if the WC wasn't in Brazil they wouldn't have got out their group. Ask your dad about Zico, Socrates, Junior and Eder from Spain '82, GB.}

Was the original falcao who played with roma not in that team as well . By the way everyone talks about how great the 82 team were, so how good were the Italians who totally out played them then .

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually felt sorry for their keeper -who I always liked at Inter, but that sums it up, it is a very poor Brazil team. I actually said to a friend last year during a Chelsea game that I thought Luiz/Oscar/Ramires were all very average, but they have this perception purely because they are Brazilian. I actually don't think there has been one truly great team at this world cup, plenty good players, but no great team. I think the German team are good, but rely heavily on Nauer/Lahm/Hummels/Muller, guys like Mertesacker/Howedes are also very average, and I think players like Goetze/Ozil are totally overpriced at £40 million. They have a great mentality though as we know, and as I have been saying on the other page, it's all about moving with the times - the Germans are great at this, like the great Italian teams, they aren't great technically, but with everything else they are at the forefront. I think Scolari is a bit of a dinosaur, and has been found out big time. Cheers

Neymar is the most melodramatic player I have ever seen for feigning injury ( and nowt to do with the broonie incident ) If they can take retrospective action against players who have flung an elbow , head butted etc. how can't they take action against the drama queens?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2014 05:48:03
Ed most people would probs think i'm being biased but I hand on heart wouldn't swap vvd for luiz. Vvd will improve and get better but luiz won't that is the best he will ever get imo. Plus I think he would better as a defensive midfielder rather than a cb he's a bombscare waiting 2 happen which everyone seen against germany. Mourinho must have been laughing all the way 2 the bank. Aye ed ma auld bhoy loved socrates was his type of player. He actually preferred the 82 team rather than the 1970 team which we know poeple consider the best team there has ever been

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't realise how bad this Braziian team is . There are no players in this team that would give value for money .
I hear there are now over 600 Brazilian players now playing in something like 40 leagues in Europe . Less chasing the money and more playing in Brazil where traditionally they produced and played proper Brazilian football.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard today that robben has been named player of tournament.having watched last nights match I counted five times could have been more where he threw himself to the ground with little or no contact IMO the biggest cheat of the tournament award would have been more appropriate any one got any thoughts on this.killy.

Player of tourney should go the Colombian that was kicked off the park against Brazil , JAMES , probably robben got it because boy above should get goal of the tourney and I think he is the top Scorer too! Agreed Robben ditto but not as bad as Neymar another feigner was Drogba always embarrassed me a guy built like a boxer did that atb JB7
