Anyone else think David Wagner would be a decent shout for the new manager? Good young manager with a Klopp like style and not in a job atm.

Care to explain why it would be a terrible selection? He done a great job last year at Huddersfield with a team seriously uneqipped for the premier league. Playing a good brand of football all the while. You have a better suggestion I take it?

Wagner is a great shout.

Or Chris wilder, Sheffield United manager. Good manager plays good football. And on paper his squad isn't great but turned them from a league 1 side to a side fighting promotion in the championship.

Gbhoy, what huddersfield games were you watching to think they play good football? . Yes they had a small budget but so did others. They done not to bad first season staying in league but it was hoof ball, lack of goals. Opinions eh. Would be a mediocre appointment. Need to be going for a big name like benitez. Proven and commands respect.

Said when Rodgers left Wagner would be a decent shout!

Bhoyo last season they played some great football considering the players they had and have no idea how you can say it was “hoof ball”. It was a very similar style to what Klopp likes to play, difference being he had very little to work with. Should never have been sacked IMO.

And I’m sorry mate but there’s no chance of Benitez coming and it’s foolish to think otherwise.

Looking for a bit of help. Its my Birthday tomorrow and i couldn't get a ticket for the game, so going out with the family all day, usually isn't a problem when the games on because i just avoid social media and the radio and have it recorded but because its on premiere sports i can't, does anyone have any reliable sights where you can watch games later that day?

Youth cup final tickets not for public sale, that's scandalous.

It's a sad state of affairs mate. Just a select few at the game all because of a few neds fuelled up on the alkypops and MD. The authorities are a shambles for allowing this. A showpiece final televised with no supporters.

13 Apr 2019 20:21:29
I don’t quite understand this. When there are 60000 at a first team Glasgow Derby, there are fuelled up neds in attendance but the police/ stewards normally keep things under control. Why would it be any different for the youth teams?

Waiting list/ Stadium Expansion
With the news that we have 10,000 on the season ticket waiting list got me thinking:
Rebuild the main stand to the size of the north stand, loss those 10,000 seats for 1 season and build new 30,000 seater stand to increase to capacity to 80,000.
I don't think initially we could fill the stadium for run of the mill games so would keep capacity to 60,000 for regular league games.

Sell out 1 x euro qualifier and 3 x group games, 2 x Glasgow derbies plus 2 sellouts for flag day and league decider.
Those 8 games X 20,000 extra fans x £30 ticket = £4.8 Million per season.
Build more corporate boxes and function rooms, £1.2 Million per season.
That brings in additional £6 million per season.

Upgrade dressing rooms and access to meet Euro final criteria and get a final at CP. Value to Celtic?
Estimate at say £1 million cost per 1,000 seats, total cost for new 30,000 starter stand = £30 Million,
Plus loss of revenue during construction phase £3 Million.

Outlay and Losses £33 Million.
Extra £6 Million per season means it's Paid off in just over 5 years.
Then it's all additional revenue for years to come.
We could also get sponsors for the new stand.

This would take us out of reach domestically and would help keep us competitive in Europe.
We should tap into our main advantage over all other teams, our support base is massive!

I know it's " back of fag packets" but can't be far away, what's your thoughts on this?

I'd like it if it worked. However we rarely have a full stadium as it is.

Even then u have fans leaving with 30 mins to go.

Literally saw thousands leave in the last old firm game when it was tied.

Why even bother leaving the house?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2019 16:01:10
The potential is there with plenty of space to work with.
Once the hotel project is finished and is bringing in profit, then maybe they can look at expanding the capacity, with your figures it makes sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2019 20:23:50
I like your thinking RP. I might be inclined to increase to 70000 as there would still be a demand for the additional seats. 80000 might be a step too far.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Apr 2019 21:49:31
all of a sudden we hear of this expansion, the real drivers behind this is the orcs who want our stand to be listed so we can't expand to the capacity we are capable of. let there crumble dome collapse with there team and support but leave our institution to flurish. HAIL HAIL.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2019 09:43:44
There is only a huge demand for ST's at the moment because we're getting close to 10. After the 10 you will find the demand will go down again and an 80,000 stadium would be ridiculous .

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Apr 2019 12:43:00
Sounds good on paper. But we barely get 50k every week 😂. Stadiums half empty on cup games. We can’t guarantee European football. We need to improve our footballing side of things before anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2019 15:12:11
Stevie, As I said, keep run of mill games at 60,000, that keeps the core season tickets holders demand in place, open new top parts of the new stand when we can sell them out, we also have clever marketing people and I am sure they could come up with initiatives like family tickets that’s gets more kids in and builds up the next generations a Celtic supporters.
Year on year we will fall further behind the big 4 leagues, We have to tap into our uniquely massive fan base and turn fans into supporters.

Anyway, game day, so Hail Hail😁.

Seen that a couple of weeks ago, good watch although I struggle to see the point of it if they're not reforming, and the fact they were never together being interviewed tells me they don't intend to patch things up.

Loved going to see eire og in the brazen back in the day but ma earliest memories of going to see rebel bands would be the blarney pilgrims in scruffy murphys in Coatbridge when a was well underage. A must've been 15 drinking pints of diesel then spewing it all back up. The blarneys are still one of my go to bands. 🍀.

Although Lennon didn't scout these players he most likely had a major say In them coming to paradise:rogic, lustig, van dijk, wanyama, forster, ledley, Hooper. probably missed a few aswell were all brilliant players for us they started the run to 10 so I wouldn't be upset if the board let Neil finish the job. 🍀🍀he'll have us fired up on Sunday mon the hoops 🏆🏆🏆.

Strikers can be very inconsistent, they can play well at some clubs and fail miserably at others . C Sutton was excellent at Blackburn Rovers, yet he failed miserably at Chelsea and again at Celtic he was a star man in several positions .
The funny thing at big clubs like Celtic we have very many fans who are very supportive. and encourage the team through thick and thin, However we have a small enough number of fans who always see the glass half empty and are always criticising no matter how well the team is doing.

Stevie, Hooper is at Sheff Wed but has suffered a few injuries that have affected his play. I thought he was a tremendous player when he was with us. He is definitely one who I was very sad to see leave. HH.

All managers make 'dodgy' signings that seemed like a good idea at the time and indeed we have also signed players on recommendation and video evidence - like Du Wei, Raphael Sheidt and Bangura and others; who never made the grade at Celtic.
The important thing is to concentrate on adding quality in the key areas that are lacking; while complimenting and developing the excellent young talent like Ajer, KT, Ralston, Cal-Mac, Christie, Eddy and Ntcham (if he stays? ) . We have fantastic foundations.
