I am of the belief that football tops look well on young people both male and female .
Once the human frame widens out with the middle age spread its the time to leave the football top in the wardrobe .

I have to say Chris, I have my own fashion rules with football tops as well 👍

Some are not very PC & I'll keep them to myself.

Wearing of a football top at Glasgow Airport with your new white trainers and soverign rings are a no-no.

Bursting out of it is also a faux pas

ED007 I had this conversation with the girls so thought I would post it on here and find everyone's views, including yourself Bond, the girls argument is Celtic find good young players for a low fee then try and sell them on for as much as possible, ( they quoted Forster, Ki, Wannyama etc) they think Celtic are shortchanging the fans if for example VVD is sold for £8m but is replaced with a player say of £1m, the girls know the arguments of balancing the books etc, the wage structure, "playing in Scotland", but they say Celtic could easily afford one big signing of say £5m+ each season then bring in 2/3 younger players costing less. The club would do a number of things with this policy the girls say, appease the fans, maybe even add to the home attendance every week, still balance the books, the players they want to keep give them a wage rise and a longer contract (yes they know Celtic have been burned in the past by this, but they are talking about players like Brown, Armstrong, GMS etc)they talk more sense than me (yes I know not difficult lol) so what are your thoughts and maybe we can get a lively debate going.

{Ed007's Note - Ah the old 'marquis signing' conundrum, I'm with the girls on it Tim, I don't see why we can't push the boat out out occasionally for the right player for all the reasons you've listed, the most important being putting bums on seats. I always say that I'd rather see a rise in the wages we pay as opposed to transfer fees but if the right player is available then why not spend £4-5 million on him. Obviously I'd want it to be on an AM or a striker - someone to entertain - we didn't need £5 million to find players like Wanyama, van Dijk and Johansen, £5 million nearly bought them all, which is great business
Finnbogason has had a torrid time in Spain with injuries and finding his form so there's no guarantee of the player being successful but we've wasted millions on the likes of Balde, Scepovic and Pukki instead of pushing the boat out and gambling at a higher level where there's more chance of success.
Then again, as a wise old man once told me, 'Celtic doesn't buy heroes, Celtic makes them!'}

Player that I would like to see signed is striker who plays for Ado Den Haag, Michiel Kramer. Only came to my attention a few weeks ago but is rattling them in for fun. wouldn't cost much either.

Is our 'policy for the team or the balance sheets though. For arguments sake, and generally speaking - we buy a player for £2m, sell them for £10m. Is not then best to go out and buy a replacement for £4-5m and still have some left over, or just buy another player for £2m. My point basically is I cannot see the sense in buying young and cheap and developing unless the majority of the money received is reinvested. Otherwise we're just in an incosistent cycle.

I am afraid with Celtic having a low transfer budget that we buy a £4/5 million player and then this player doesn't produce the goods we are left in a very negative position with little money left to buy anyone or even sign a player out of contract .

We just need Deila to make better signings than normal.

I agree the talk when hooper left was that Celtic were in the market for quality not quantity. However over the past 2 summer windows I think it has be a case of quantity over quality
Signing guidetti scepovic Berget tonev Wakaso does not ooze quality although guidetti did look good pre Christmas
The year before pukki balde, before that was miku lassad etc
I'd have much preferred to see a finnbogson and a tony watt as our strikers
Going into this summer i'd like to see a youth player and a marquis signing along with Griffiths as our striking options

It's really difficult a player I and a few others were crying out for was the ST Hoisner last season absolutely insane goal record and an absolute cert goalscorer (in my eyes at the time) checked him out there and he signed for Rennes last year. 7 games - 0 goals! No mention of injury (but I suppose there could be a factor I'm unaware of) but I would of put my house on him at the time being the new Hooper. Tricky business when it comes to strikers, all about form and confidence IMO

Thats a fair enough point chris but does the same not go for a £1.5m player? there's an element of risk in all transfers. Whether they cost £1m or £31m. Generally speaking though you get what you pay for. Particularly in the attacking areas. But the fact of the matter is we've wasted several million on a quantity of forwards anyway. I'd rather see us take that risk on one more expensive player, or a bosman on higher wages, than keep wasting it on a number of less expensive players.
