Izaguirre is free to play CL qualifiers. Good news. But perhaps Dijks has turned us down? And we've failed in other areas? Still would be ideal to have cover but hopefully Tierney can step up as RD said we'd be seeing more of him this season.

How have we failed in other areas? There is along time yet before the dead-line for the 2nd round of Qualifliers

Just if what was being said about Douglas or Oshaniwa also Chris, I don't know if we actually made offers but i'm sure you do. The first qualifier is little over a month away. That's not long in my eyes. I'd say a new player should be spending the entire training regime and friendlies with the squad beforehand, but should maybe in a little earlier trying to get up to speed with RDs fitness plans. Doesn't matter though we'll have Izzy now.

I agree Jim in the Key areas that WE DO NEED filled like a centre forward and an other central defender we need them in yesterday not wait to 2 days before the dead line to bring them in

The players are due back to training on the 22nd , new signings won't be on the training pitch before that.date , so by not been signed by the 12th won't make a difference .

I wouldn't have a notion if Celtic have made a move to sign Douglas or Osaniwa , and I can't understand why anyone would expect me to know .

I don't know about it not making a difference, at all chris. What about moving and settling in to Scotland quicker? What about sooner meeting with people at the club who aren't players? Our sports scientists, physios, nutritionists, psycholigists etc. The exercise they should be doing in their spare time? Making sure their fitness plans and conditioning match to what RD is trying to get the players doing on the pitch? Just the sooner the better that's all. CL qualification is our breadline a club of our size. I wasn't panicking though, yet. We should be good enough to negotiate the first round. But as the first post was about, we were short of a LB, but now we're not. So good news.

{Ed001's Note - just remember the change of diet due to a new nutritionist is what Lionel Messi attributes his improved form this season to. In fact he felt so much better for his new diet that Kun Aguero is now using the same person to set up his dietary requirements. It took months for the full effects to show, fitness and particularly nutrition are slow processes. The sooner new players can get started on following a diet plan the better.}

I think our current team is good enough to get us to the group stages, assuming van Dijk does not leave until after the qualifiers. Yes it would be nice to get some more players in and the sooner the better but at least we have done so in the key area by getting Boyata.

Agree0 Disagree2

13 Jun 2015 10:10:43
Didn't know that about Messi Ed cheers. And if there are improvements Aguero can make i'm sure the same may go for Boyata, or anybody else who comes in for that matter. I know these things take months but even a few weeks can make a difference. Cutting a certain food type out of your diet can make you feel half a stone lighter inside and give you an extra yard. Believe me, I used to run for a Harriers and just stopping eating wholefats like cheese, pork or pastries makes you feel fitter almost immediately. It's a physical and psychological edge. RK talking about Hartson eating a bag of crisps after being beaten off Clyde, I didn't know wether to laugh or cringe. And I didn't realise just how 'old school' we were until RD came in.

It's not that easy signing players who are on holidays . Players not on International duty are likely to be taking advantage of the space in time, between clubs finishing their season and , beginning training for new season by going away with their WAGs and children .

13 Jun 2015 21:51:47
Hopefully we're in for those who are on international duty never mind on holiday. Granted there's always a bit of a stall during international games. But when we get told we'll be signing players early you would like to believe it. Anything we get told of Celtic though regarding transfers, to be honest, I am about ready to ignore.

With regards to ed001's post about Messi and the evident benefits of a change of diet, I wonder if Lennon perhaps feels a tad silly for slating Deila.

Everyone would like Celtic to get the best players they can in as early as possible .
It may or may not be Celtic's fault that they haven't got more than one player in already . With Celtic usually trying to buy their players in a disquit manner, we don't necessary know how advancedCeltic are on other deals .

Does anyone any ideas how season ticket sales are doing?

Think the ed said 44k sold a couple of weeks ago which if true is totally bazaar as that was our average attendance last season and at least 10k didn't go to most games.hopefully it is true and they turn up more regular as it makes for better atmosphere for fans and players will prob respond better to a stadium that looks busy rather than half empty.

Mabye it's people like myself who had a bad year now it's affordable in to the family budget we can now get a season ticket for ourself and the weans £50 a pop for them so can't go wrong even if the got to 8 or 9 games it pays for itself, I'm thinking that's why sales are up and mabye numbers might be down in some games

Ravel Morrison anyone?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - He's an absolute gem of a player but no way, the stories I know that aren't in the public domain are horrendous. He would be a nightmare to try and control living in the goldfish bowl. Ravel Morrison could have been one of the best players England ever had but his personal life was always a major problem even when he was just a young teenager.}

12 Jun 2015 02:52:01
Hes signing for lazio at start of 2015-16 season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The latest is he's homesick and heading back to England.}

12 Jun 2015 11:10:56
Yeah that's right heading home (QPR likely suitors) without playing a single game for Lazio

Don't know anything about the guy,but he sounds like the type of player,who might benefit from RD's tutelage.

Guys another Guiddeti if u ask me! going from club to club making a good wage but doing very little! Been at 4 or 5 clubs in as many years and he's not even in his mid 20's! That's a player we could well do without!

wouldnt tuch this guy with surgury gloves. As ed007 says, he was the biggest talent Manutd had seen since Rooney, had all the possibility to become a world class player, but he has serious anger issues, seem to remember he threatened his girlfriend with a knife, did get arrested fighting three times before he turned 18 and when he wanted to earn the same as Nani to pen a new contract at the time.
He has been in several clubs after that and every manager has tried, but given up by all of them.
Really bad, cause he could have been a world class player, but will end up like Gazza.

I am sure the management and Deila will try to avoid signing a trouble maker , who might upset the good manager / footballer relationship that it appears Deila has built up.

I know it is unlikely to happen but if a deal could be done on our terms I would be willing to take a chance because there are big rewards if it pays off.

13 Jun 2015 12:49:19
been reading up on him,i think if the right terms could be agreed,and if he could get his head in gear to become a team player in RD's regime,even if he used celtic as a stepping stone to a more lucrative deal somewher else later on,it might be beneficial to both parties

I know the Guy who looked after him when he was a youngster at Man Utd. Says he is the best talent he had ever seen. Better than Ronaldo or messi at the same age. Unfortunately he was in with the wrong crowd and some of the stories about him are scary. Sir Alex sold him for about £5 m if I remember right and every team he has been at has wanted him out very quickly. A shame as he is such a talent
