I watch all suggestions for signings with interest.
I hope we do strengthen the team and squad.
I also know that I have never played for or managed a football team at professional level.
So, some affordable players look great on YouTube, I have no idea what they would be like in real life.
I will leave it to those who have played, managed, won titles and trophies etc. And hope they get it correct.

Correct, this time last year I got slaughtered for saying Shved was untested. A few had him as a world beater but seems not. Like all signing we will get they are a risk and we will continue to have as many misses as hits. That's our market.

It looks like it's Shved's attitude in training that's holding him back rather than ability. NL has mentioned he done well in Dubai though so he might be in the squad soon.

Lennons comments on Shved seemed promising. Hopefully he can kick on now and bring that bit of flair that we are missing right now. We need to find the back of the net easier and Arzani/ Shved might bring something different to our game if they keep it up.

It's obvious we need serious competition and quality in the wide areas. Misfit Morgan and Sinclair have been papped out the door, while MJ has yet to convince - so let's see what they can do?

Patryk Klimala looks very likely which tbh is a bit underwhelming given his stats but he comes with a lot of high praise so I'll back him if he pulls on the hoops. This would maybe leave the door open for a short term deal for a more experienced striker as well.

I know we can't go on YouTube clips but the boy does look very good with both feet and looks very quick.

Would anyone be happy if we have stepped back from Sprorar because we can get Klimala and Shankland in for the same money? Add to that Cohen on the left to replace Morgan/ Sinclair. We would look in a stronger position. Can see Bayo leave on loan. Klimala looks the part on the clips I've seen although that's hard to make a call on, looks mobile and athletic and we all know Shankland is a punt, but he can score goals if given service, so would be a great option from the bench. And the boy Cohen seems like he has a good shot and free kick on him. A bonus would be Soro/ Wanyama 🍀HH.

I'll be happy that we've stepped away from sporar if it's true he'd rather go elsewhere I would now question his commitment if he really has said he'd rather go to sporting of course that might all be made up media nonsense 🤷‍♂️.

I'd be happy if we signed Cohen and Soro both look decent players and a tidy investment too. Jury is out on Klimala as he's young and not the finished product given the circumstances he'll need to hit the ground running scoring goals as he'll get the fans on his back quickly if we start dropping points.

3.5 million and not a lot of goals there. Polish football is on a par with ours and I'd be aiming for more of a finished article with the money we have in the bank.

It's just my opinion but if we get the polish lad, I would still and try for another striker.
Bayo needs games and should be loaned out and for me griffs best days are behind him.
Still need something in the middle and someone out wide.

{Ed007's Note - Anyone can edit Wikipedia, Andy and it's pretty common for potential Celtic signings to support the Republican movement on there. It'll be changed back soon.}

12 Jan 2020 15:20:01
I did not know that. Now I learn.
Would you want this guy @ED007 Is he gd.

{Ed007's Note - I don't know any more about Klimala than you guys but he definitely looks like he would give us something different up front.}

12 Jan 2020 20:41:28
Klimala, from the clips, looks direct and not afraid to go in for challenges. For me he looks a little like Sutton.

Getting ready to head out to meet some gloating ex bears but before I do I wanted to pass on what I read in papers (Daily Mail) and online
Lawwell is apparently being paid MORE than his equivalent at Manchester United who is being paid ÂŁ3.15MILLION
and the bold Pedro has a clause in his contract that after 8 years he get TWO AND A HALF TIMES HIS SALARY AT 8 YEARS. (I make that just shy of NINE MILLION QUID)
So Pedro has no interest in signing players as long as he has Celtic in the black at the bank and provides good yearly dividends for shareholders he is set for life.
That is why I do not think Lawwell is interested in spending big on players, it cuts the club's ank balance.

if the right quality is not bought then the team becomes less successful. then income will drop as players will not be as good and sell for less and season ticket sales will drop. weather we like it or not that mob have improved so the right quality is required to keep them 2 second best and right now we are in a position to keep them there with our finances. to penny pinch and allow them to catch up would be mad from a playing and financial view. if he messes 10 up with penny pinching the fans will turn big time on the board. how ever wee have the squad there to win this league all that was missing from that game against them was more aggression wee need another striker to take the load off eddy and and another aggressive midfielder in the middle of the park some one like a Barry robson who gets stuck in and does the dirty work with broony wile calmac does what he does. 2 players like that this window and we will be fine. we will not allow another repeat of that last game against them im sure of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2020 12:36:08
Tim anno he's not your favourite guy but 7 mill on julien and 9 mill on eddy is decent money. if the product on the park is not up to scratch which would usually mean no Europe and no trophies surely that would affect his bonus as revenue would be down so that argument imo makes no sense.

I think we had a very good summer window - and I know we lost KT- but unfortunately between injuries/ illness and players like Boli and Taylor not working out as planned; not to mention a real striker shortage problem we are even more in need of quality than before.
The money is there, but obviously we need the right players to be as well and I would have thought that the club would have done their homework well before the transfer session began, as the winter break is almost over and we are worse off than before it began.

13 Jan 2020 09:28:35
I think we got shot of KT just in the nick of time. I love the boy don't get me wrong but he was too brave for his own good and playing through injury whilst still growing is going to curtail his career.

I don't have a problem with the likes of Shankland but Griff way better. The difference between foreign and scots can be highlighted with elhamed over taylor. Massive difference in quality. Our national team contains scotlands finest and they would be lucky to make third in SPL. Biggest problem is getting people who can step straight in. Physically their would be work to do fitness wise to get shankland up to speed. don't know enough about polish guy to know if he can step straight in but hope so.

Celtic getting a lot of stick for not having anyone in yet.
Sporar seems to be our 1st choice but the boy has options. hence why we've now been linked with 2 or 3 other strikers. If Sporting want Sporar they'll get him. much better league. This is the reality. to be in the race we may have to pay over the odds both on the fee and the wages.

The problem I’ve got with our recruitment mate, and it a recurring theme is that we never ever seem like we’re on the front foot when it comes to getting players! I appreciate that’s it’s not as simple as picking up a fone and boom we’ve got a new player! But it’s the same old things every single transfer window! Lenny said I think on Monday that we’ll hopefully have a few in in a few days. now we’re here nearly a week later and he’s saying the same thing! It’s as predictable as it is frustrating! Also says that we need a few older heads, players with experience who u can depend on, but I don’t see one sign of that going to happen! It’s like living the same movie every single transfer window honestly!

To call him rubbish is unfair Kev and you know it is. Maybe not good enough for Celtic but certainly not bad. If he was playing for a championship team in England I’d expect he’d still score a lot of goals and probably then we’d want to take a shot at him. Who knows stranger things have happened.

Said the same thing in a previous post Danny; it's not like the January 'window' was a surprise-party scenario. The manager/ club should have had their targets well and truly identified and the proper ground work done as to availability and likelihood of success.
However, here we are yet again, almost halfway through and the training camp over, with no new arrivals. It's frustrating and disappointing considering the benefit and boost an early signing or three would give the whole club. It's not as if we don't have funds?
