Since it seems to be quiet on the players coming in who do fellow readers think we could and or need to be looking to offload this window or even in the summer? Also how much realistically do think we could get for them?

Think Balde and Pukki are defo on the hit list. Can see Kayal going back to Israel, we should just swap him for Kayode. It's a shame because he was very good in the Eredevisie but I think Boerrigter has fallen down a sink hole somewhere so he could be away. Then you almost forget kids like Rogic, Twardzik and Fisher are still here. Surely they want a move. Then Fridjonsson and McGeough don't look like they have futures. Then I think we'll lose VVD, Commons, Tonev and Wakaso in the summer. Quite a few really. £10M for the lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with most of the names on Jim Tim's list, but I would think most of the 'clear out' work will be done in the summer as we still have too much too play for (without guarantee of success) and we could pick up injuries and suspensions.

I would really hope that RD does get rid of all the dead-wood and injury prone players that have contributed so little in the past few seasons.
The quality and standard of player is currently not good enough for the CL where we belong and we seem on a par with Aberdeen and Dundee Utd in Scotland and although I welcome the competition, I expect better quality from a club with our resources.

One things a certainty if there is a clearout and no players are signed, I can't see Lawwell lasting too long. There will be pressure on him to go and I can see a drop in season ticket revenue.

How long will it also be for Dermott Desmond to sell up? Hate mentioning sevco but if there is that much interest in buying them, surely there will be someone interested in celtic

Think Liverpool or utd were linked with him In the past mate. I recognise the name and if it's the same lad I think the fee mentioned was 8 million

{Ed001's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Is it ever a good idea to give a playing legend the reigns as manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I think that manages should be appointed on their ability to manage, and not just because they were a popular player.
Good players don't always make great managers, you only have to look at Jose mourinho, Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger etc.
These managers became legends at their clubs despite never playing for them, they are just really great managers.
I think boards sometimes take the easy option in appointing an ex player, because fans are less likely to get on his back, and this keeps the heat off the board.
I would much rather Celtic just appoint the best man for the job, rather than an emotional choice.

You missed out Jock Stein who was a very average player but to me, and every one of us, the greatest Scottish manager of all time.

I totally agree with you GJ.
The only reason I didn't mention big Jock was that he had played for us.
The point I was trying to make with the managers I mentioned is that they became great managers for their clubs without having any connection to them.
I definitely didn't mean that I thought any of them were better than Jock Stein
