we all know about italian football and corruption, well that ref certainly performed as if he had takin a back hander. one of the worst ref displays I have ever seen! risk to play ambrose backfired whish is a shame cus lenny got the tactics spot on and on another night we could have scored 2or3 but we have been given a harsh lesson at the highest level, certainly didn't deserve to lose 3-0. we deserved atleast a draw imo.

Well I've got to say well done Celtic, I thought you where the better team and after a recent reports about match fixing in Europe involving 100's of games, looks like the stage was set and you would get nothing from the ref.

It was more like a wrestling match by the Juventas players in their box, hold you heads high.

Rangers fan.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Good honest post I watched the game with an Inter fan among us and I got a full understanding as to why Juve are so hated no Italian club has dirty tactics in the same league as them

The zombies saying haha outclassed Celtic are s***e, All I can say to you Zombies is. Stirling Albion 1-0 The Ranger's. You will never play Champions League football again, I give it two year's before your tribute team goes bust. You're as good as the teams you play, the painters, the carpenters, the folk on the dole who love a kick about in Division 3, to criticize Celtic a team who is keeping Scottish football Alive, you are biter biter people. You are as good as a pub team, You're not even in the fish n' chips cup. And you can deny it, but you're all Embarrassed to admit you support Rangers. Biter people and proved you're the shame of Scotland, you zombies disgust me. Now bring on Turin!! FB1888

Believable8 Unbelievable6

You really have to stop taking what they say to heart. Just ignore them and, with a bit of luck, they will go away. Or just laugh in their face at the position they are in, having to support a different team at the bottom tier of Scottish football

Agree4 Disagree4

Cause one person writes a comment doesn't mean we all feal that way.

Agree3 Disagree0

Eh? You want to give this mob air time. let's concentrate on our own clubs achievements and forget about them, it was a laugh for a while listening to their stupid comments, they are dead and buried now, so let's move on.

Ambrose was a gamble, you win some you lose some. No point in crying about it.

More importantly maybe Gary Hooper will stop believing his own hype. He was absolutely nowhere to be seen. World class? Top 6 EPL team?

Not a chance on the basis of that display Mr Hooper. Lassad? Stokes? Miku? No, let's use Tony Watt. Disagree with that as well but hey ho.

3-0 flatters them. Here's to a good showing with a little bit more of a rub of the green in Turin.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Can't blame Efe, he'd walk over coals if Asked. An older wiser head wouldn't have asked him. He's an outstanding player and doesn't deserve any damage to his reputation from this.
I've looked at the goals again. We've seen big Fraser at his best but I'm thinking this was close to his worst.
At 0-1 Lenny subs commons, the only guy getting close to scoring. Hooper was man marked out the game and it went downhill from there, then kayal for broony and it was all at sea.

Agree5 Disagree1

Not so sure about that, thought Juve got it tactically right in the second half and took control, with Celts tiring.

Well done to the Celts though. . still proud!

PS: Ref was weak/poor!

Miko

Agree5 Disagree3

Thought Big Vic was immense. Added a few quid to his value tonight. No shame in being beaten by the Italian champions. Yes the ref missed some things but we can't blame him. Juve took their chances we didn't take ours. We need a miracle but I think the lads will be hung no to get back into the group stages next season. The future's looking bright.

Man Utd fan here.

Thought Juventus were excellent tonight, they had a terrific game plan and hardly broke sweat putting it into practice. Celtic were very poor and Juve limited you to shots from distance which Buffon had covered all day long. The referee was excellent also imo and got all the big decisions right, despite the pressure from a subdued Celtic crowd.

The tie is certainly over now. Although you done well to get this far, so credit to you for that. Then again, tonight just showed the difference in class.

Hard luck Celtic.

GRD

Believable8 Unbelievable13

Nice try. However I'm guessing that rather than being a man united fan you're actually a fan of a team founded in the second half of 2012 playing on the Scottish 4th tier.

Bitter bitter bitter. Maybe you should concentrate on your own team surviving a year rather than worrying about the progress in the CL of the biggest team in Scotland.

Agree6 Disagree5

The tie showed the difference in experience not class.

I know opinions vary but the £100m Juventus were not a class act tonight. They took their chances and exposed maybe Ambrose's vulnerability. that was all. No different to what Celtic did against Barcelona.

Good luck against Real Madrid however I can't see any British teams making the last 8 ~ Mrs E

Agree5 Disagree4

You talk pish mate. juve were nothing special. we dominated most of the game. dirty playing does not equal better class. ref was a joke and should have given a few penalties because of their shocking play

Agree7 Disagree5

Aye mate, it's all but over for you too, so hard luck mate. Real Madrid will pump Manchester United and that's just honest opinion mate, they're different class. Juventus team was over 100 million more than us. So you'll be feeling the way I do the mora. for you to criticize a Celtic team who they assembled that squad for 18 Million and they're so young and reach the last 16? You're a class A c**t. Ref was excellent? Imagine if that was happening at Old Trafford? Think you need to shut yer puss and concentrate on your own team getting pumped the mora to say the ref was brilliant proves you're either a Zombie or just a total ****! FB1888

Agree3 Disagree5

What a condescending post that was. Celtic were very poor. The ref was excellent despite pressure from a subdued crowd. Credit yous for getting this far. Tonight showed the class between the two teams. Don't hold back!. . DH

Agree4 Disagree6

Sorry mate but get lost. Looking through over hyped EPL glasses. Although you do have the whiff of Sevco about you. . green jhedi

Agree5 Disagree5

You are all rather bitter. I assure you I am not a Rangers supporter. Typical reaction from Old Firm fans. Anyone criticises Celtic or Rangers and the other half automatically accuse them of being a rival fan. Pathetic.

As for United tomorrow, I am sure we will still be in the tie after the first leg. That is the aim at the end of the day.

GRD

Agree3 Disagree5

I didn't accuse you of being a Rangers fan. I just don't agree with your very typical EPL condesending opinion.

I notice your arrogance only thinks you'll still be in the tie after the first leg, do you not fancy your chances over the two legs?

Aye a ken man, Hope we really do Start a be team, because the be team would dominate Rangerss league and that is a fact, that our reserve team is miles a head in class, Wanyama has more talent is his left arsecheek than the whole Rangers squad, and soon Murray park will be Tesco Metro so likes Enjoy and continue to mock the wee team on the other side. i thought first half we were awesome! Ambrose shouldn't have started in my opinion. yes he had a decent game, but he wasn't 100% and cost us two goals! Izzy was superb! one of the best players on the park. Really proud of the boys for what they have achieved. let's restore some pride over in Italy.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Agreed Izzy did very well. Subbing commons and broony cost us 2 goals.

Very easy to be critical of celtic's defensive display tonight!, think we have been a little nigh eve and possibly, no definatley under estimated juventus. They are a very experienced team who know how to play dirty!. But the ref needs to grow a pair or just sit in a bath wi a toaster!

12 Feb 2013 21:45:35
I have to say tonight hurt. As Stracken said at half time, he's not seen a Celtic team so strong in years. I thought we played fantastic up until that 2nd goal. The officials need to check the rule book again those corner decisions were atrocious. Hate going on about bad decisions but for **** sake if just one of those 6/7 offences went our way I think it would have been a different story

Ambrose. Big mistake! forest. Total waste of space! the rest of the team. rack rotten. Why did Lennon go so attack minded!we could have left ourselves with a better chance if we played a little more cautiously, caught up in the moment but I'm sure he has learned a lot tonight with his team selection and formation. Referee was a joke, why he let those defenders get away with wrestling our players to the ground was a disgrace. I forgot how much I dislike Italian football teams. cheating b4stards.

Briggs

Believable5 Unbelievable5

I'm happy he attacked. we did really well. juve are cheating scum! we had so many chances, we SHOULD have won that game. we dominated. last 20min it looked like we had given up and they scored twice. the ref was a complete and utter joke! no 26 is going on my List!

Agree4 Disagree2

I thought the team played very well. Mistakes cost us

Agree2 Disagree1

Always better to let the dust settle before making comments, Ambrose shouldn't have played, we all know that, but outside of his 2 caused goals, we played good and but for a @rse of a referee might have got something.
I would prob say also lacked height up front why not through miku on? Imsickas****

Agree1 Disagree2

Full marks to the bhoys for keeping their tempers in check. The Italians were an utter disgrace and the fouls they committed were being fully sanctioned by the ref and his assistants. Hope they are punished retrospectively when the TV coverage is checked. UEFA must be seen to take action against this behaviour. Julieghirl

Agree3 Disagree2

Behave yourself Briggs - Commons threw himself about like a rag doll when staying on his feet would have been a better option. Ref was poor but the worst player on the pitch was Wanyama. He's supposed to protect the back four but was caught uo the park for at least two of the goals. Thus guy's beginning to believe his own hype. Can't beleive that Neil didn't play Ledley though! HH

Agree2 Disagree3

Briggs. I take your point about Ambrose but we could have played like world champions against that mob and still not have won. Twelth man was a busy little beaver.

Agree1 Disagree0

@5 behave myself? I gave my opinion on the game and players like you have done. Looking back at how we played in the group games and then to go out like that is a sore one but at the same time it's a learning curve for all concerned. let's hope for one better next season

Gemmell1967

Hi ed and fellow tims I just want to have a rant about the Celtic board, I think juve are a good side but when the board knew this game was coming up I think it's an utter disgrace that they never spent a bit of ££ in the transfer window and backed Neil Lennon {Ed007's Note - Don't be so fickle, who would you have bought and what players did NL want in January that the board never backed him? We are in the best financial position we ever have been, we have no debt, a young squad worth millions of pounds and we are in the last-16 of the CL, how many other teams in the CL can say all that? Have a bit of pride in your club instead of coming out with silly, anonymous rants.}

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Agreed Ed - knee jerk reactioms about the board won't change the fact that we were gubbed by a more experienced and professional team who are capable of going a lot further in this competition.

Agree1 Disagree0

You can spend 100 million and still not get into the last eight but I do think we need to mix some experience into the team and get the balance not every player should be about profit we need a couple of experienced players that can step up and take control

Don't know why that boy got the goal, didn't see a flag go up at the clearance, goal was only given when ball hit the net. Well it's here. finally. I don't know about our players but I can't wait to get at them! This is a night we need men, men who know what wearing a Celtic shirt means, men who will realise that when they walk out that tunnel the chance to become legends is within touching distance. When the squad visited the grave of John Thomson they must have felt it, the feeling that they play for one of the worlds special clubs. They hear the songs mentioning Maley, Thomson, Tully, Jinky and McGrory, sung by kids and middle aged men who never seen some of these players play. Did'nt have to. Our fathers told us they were Celtic greats and that's enough for us. We sing about McStay, Henrik and the immortal Jock Stein, men who served above and beyond the call. We revere, and miss on these big nights, Tommy Burns, a guy who was the epitome of everything that's good about our wonderful club.
Entering the cauldron that Celtic Park will be tonight tonight suck it in. We will give you every thing you need. Support, passion, energy and an ability to go that yard longer, that yard faster than any one who comes here. No fears, you won't let any one down, just a willingness to become a hero. Become part of the fabric of a club founded to feed poor and immigrant families that reached the heights of winning the European Cup. " Winning is not everything, but wanting to win is" Pull OUR shirt on, have a look in the mirror, puff your chest out and go to war if you have to. that's what we in the stands do on these nights!. COYBIG!. green jhedi

Great post GJ really gets the blood pumping.

Like I said yesterday we need to have that little bit more concentration for the first 10 mins as we are prone to losing an early goal. Keep it tight at the back and I can see us getting a result.

I would be more than happy with 0-0 but pray we can win 1or2-0 the main thing is to keep a clean sheet.

Good post GJ

I'm so nervous for tonight and really want to just enjoy it!

COYBIG ~ Mrs E

Agree5 Disagree2

Tonight will be tough. VERY tough.
But so was the home game against Barcelona.
And the one against Benfica.
And the game against Spartak had a serious amount of pressure attached to it too.
If our Bhoys are absolutely up for it then we just might get a positive result. We're certainly capable of it, no one can question that.
Avoid an early goal conceded and our chances will improve as the night goes on.
Are we as good a side as Juventus? Overall, no, we're probably not. They are a side full of superstars on the world stage whereas our Bhoys are superstars on our stage. But on the night and on our day we can be more than a match for them or anyone else. And they know it too.
Lady Luck just might come our way and give us a scoreline that means Juve will have have to chase the game in Turin.
Now wouldn't that be nice bhoys and ghirls?.

I wouldn't say Juve are quaking, but from all the pre match talk and Lennon's meticulous prep so far, it would appear that they have justification for some concern about how things will transpire this evening. I'm sure tonight's result will come down to how quiet the lads at the back keep their nippy wee strikers, how much Brown and Wanyama can break up play and how much space Hooper is given to take his chances. The big players need to be at peak form or one chink could be their undoing. First to the ball and don't let them dictate, because no matter what formation Conte rocks up with, that style has always undone Italian teams. Surely, on our own turf, we can beat an old lady!

from Ibrox:

Charles Green has just announced that since juventus trained at his Murray park training complex, he is now new owner of all of the Italian teams stars.

He will write to UEFA and the sfa to make sure these deals are sanctioned, he feels there should be no problem and all players should have their contracts transferred to the newco.

Green has told the loyal deady bears to expect a number of world and European cup winners to be in place for their tough away match to clyde.

Rangers fans are delighted with this and are looking forward to endorsing their new adidas strips with international class names. They wish.
