People keep saying that we will win the league, if we keep playing like this and without the players needed for certain positions then l don’t see it . Scott Brown is a legend but he is getting older and can’t sustain what he has been doing over last years we need someone in there to give him a rest kobussi isn’t the answer, Sinclair good 1st season but not doing it now, centre halves needed and possibly big Fraser back, upfront we have the best forwards but we must address this within the next 3 weeks .

I like Kouassi he just had a bad game but needs to be playing regular football. A loan even if it's 6 months will help him come back a better player and hopefully he like a new signing for 2nd half of the season.

Why is everyone saying eboue is rotten he had a bad game but so did mcgregor and nothing is being said let's give the guy a chance to show what he can do regularly.

So he suddenly has a back injury just when the team apparently needs him most. Boyata, time to get rid!

Not surprised in the slightest that this diddy is pulling these stunts! Actually annoys me that this clown is getting so much attention! Said it on here more than once, this guy is an awful defender and no 3 easy games at the WC will convince me otherwise! The thing about it that gets me angry the most is that Brendan somehow rates him as our best CB! Are we really that bad at the back for this to be true! Any sort of decent offer should have been accepted straight away and the money used to buy a centre half who can actually defend! But no we just knock it back and go into tomorrow’s game with 2 centre half’s we know are not good enough!

To end the weekend on a positive note when was the last time we'd three strikers of Dembelle, Edouard and Griffiths quality. We've got the two best on form central midfielders in Broon and Ntcham in Scotland. We've the best left back since Danny McGrain and the best manager in that we've had since Martin O'Neil. Add to that McGregor, Florist, Sinclair who might not be at their best but still very good players. In summary we're in a better position than any team in Scotland by a country mile. Yet the Scottish press has us on our arse and the league heading to Govan they wish. Keep the Faith Rodgers, Lawell and Desmond have got more right than they've got wrong in the last few years.

Well said JFP, correct with every point you make, Calmac had a bad game yesterday which is unlike him recently. We have by far the best squad in Scotland, no team can get near to matching us when we play our normal game. It's unbelievable how 2 results combined with a missed transfer target can cause mayhem in the media and within our own support. To be honest the 2 results weren't even that bad, results like that can happen. Total overreaction by all concerned. HH.

Some of our supporters have to learn we are entitled to nothing. Leave that kind of attitude for the orcs. A victory in Athens and PL getting the cheque book out will lift everyone. Get Boyata and about 5 others off the wage bill and bring in quality that can get into the first team. We have more projects on the go than GSC with youths!

Ed, is it just a work permit holding up the Arzani deal? Would any potential deal have an option to buy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know how reliable it is but I heard he doesn't even have a visa to enter the UK yet and is staying in Paris while it gets sorted out. There will be an option to buy in the deal.}

Thought he was at the game the other night ed?

{Ed007's Note - Well that's that oot the windae then lol bloody taxi driver told me last night that it was on the radio.}

12 Aug 2018 19:10:27
What's all involved in the process does he need to have international clearance as part of it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - A lot of paperwork then some scrotum cupping and coughing. It's easier to get a work permit in Scotland than it is in England especially under the 'exceptional talent' rules like we used to get Wanyama.}

12 Aug 2018 19:13:46
Yeah he was at the game but read he had to be out of the country to obtain a wp, no idea if that's true and can't imagine a loan deal had collapsed.

@TinyTim this when I get angry, if that had been a Celtic player doing that and bending over him afterwards, levein would have been on the TV squealing blue murder, but Celtic never seem to complain about these incidents, which is one of the reasons, I believe, Hearts and other teams target our players.

If we signed him imo he would be a squad player and everyone's going on like he's messi
I hope the boy goes on to have a good career but he's NEVER imo going to end up at a top 4 team unless it's on the plays playstation
Celtic have tried to get him on the cheap as I would have done but moved to slow after villa made there move and I can see why BR isn't happy.

lol when we’re linked with him half the support says he’s not good enough but when another team signs him he becomes a CL player.

Calm down. He won’t be going to a top 4 epl team.

We should have signed him yes, but the club won’t get all of them right. There’s been plenty of players we all wanted the club to sign that ended up becoming bang average players.

I am not pissed off not getting McGinn but how many players have we missed for the sake of a few hundred grand and the come the end of the window make signings like Comper. To not have a centre half lined up given the situation with Boyata is just wrong and the same with Armstrong.

Eds have use heard anything on Boyata what's true what not true?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Most of what's been in the press is true, Boyata wants a move.}

12 Aug 2018 14:50:35
Do you think anyone else will bid near the £9m Fulham apparently offered Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't see why not and after the way his agent has carried on I expect Lawwell to be squeeze every last penny out of the deal for us.}

12 Aug 2018 15:19:25
But will he get his move ED?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've said for months that I expected Boyata to move on during this window and it looks even more likely now.}

12 Aug 2018 15:57:17
The question now is will he be adequately replaced? And by that I mean will we bring in a proper defender?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 15:30:00
If PL can get anything over £9m he should quite rightly be praised Ed. We are quick enough to slam him for other things but like Armstrong having a year left, getting anywhere near £9m would be great business. Feel very let down by a player i praised often enough on here. I hope he is out of our club within days.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've said it before that Lawwell does an exceptional job in bringing money in through sponsorships etc but it's when he starts meddling in the football side of things it tends to go awry.}

12 Aug 2018 15:30:47
You heard anything on Svetozar Markovic ED? Apparently we have made a move to bring him in? May be Boyatas replacement? Also, Stojanovic from Dinamo Zagreb?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've scouted Markovic.}

12 Aug 2018 15:34:43
Ed, before all this carry on with boyata and his agents came out over the last few days, what’s your view on us knocking back the £9 million Fulham supposedly bid?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers was hoping Boyata would play against AEK on Tuesday so the bid was turned down.}

12 Aug 2018 17:34:57
Cheers Ed that's exactly how i see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

12 Aug 2018 18:00:09
Our defence has been a farce for years. I’m not confident Rogers knows what a defender looks like. Apart from KT and Ajer I’d ship the lot out.

Don’t get your hopes up we will solve it this window. Or any window. Seems to be the way. Celtic and rubbishe defence is just a scientific fact.

Boyata needs punted, the ungrateful can’t, and it shows you how awful we are defensively that a partially reformed bombscare is our best. A feckin shambles, but with Rogers track record with defenders, I’m expecting another slightly more expensive Hendry/ Commper clone. Please no Terry.

Unless it’s Thomas.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 18:04:49
Cheers Ed I hope whatever we make is funds to go straighto into the transfer kitty.

{Ed007's Note - Don't we all mate, don't we all.}

12 Aug 2018 19:13:31
Would make sense to get shot of Boyata soon as possible so there isn't any dressing room unrest. Plus could maybe use that for a player or 2 for the up and coming hunskelping.

12 Aug 2018 23:25:16
It will be a difficult sale, his agent looks to be a strange man .
We need ti chase 2 decent centre halves to get at least one

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 13:50:19
Before I get shot down here as he’s got no pace but would anyone take John Terry for a season. His experience and organisation skills could help out our other two young centre backs . And he probably wouldn’t be bullied by some of the bruiser centre forwards we seem to struggle against.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 13:54:01
No for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 14:01:54
I’d definitely take him, the experience alone he could give to ajer& hendry would be invaluable. We done the same with big kolo and it worked out not bad, especially to help with the European ties.

12 Aug 2018 14:08:20
I'd take him.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 15:24:40
Surely there are younger experienced cbs out there than Terry he's finished hence the reason he doesn't have a club.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 15:56:25
I'd take him for a season. A bit of experience to help Ajer and Hendry. Let's be honest he would cruise the SPL.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 15:57:31
Definitely take him.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 15:27:49
Would never want Terry anywhere near Celtic Park but if you are looking along the lines of experience:- Samba 33, Bassong 32 and Huth 33 are also on the free agent list along with numerous continental CB's I am not familiar with - all well within our budget. However, there must be a reason why they are without clubs?
Maybe this is how Congerton does his scouting too ha ha.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 16:48:49
Terry had the choice to stay at villa but he decided not too. I'd take him for a season. Would do wòndees for us.

One unhappy player get him training with the young boys until we sell him he needs out if a player does not want to play give him what he wants he is trying to do us a fav by trying to bring in money for him rather than going for nothing at end of season if u want to be positive about it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 13:36:33
Not for me RichT. Had the World Cup no come around when it did I believe boyata and his agent wouldve been more than happy to accept a new deal ( just my opinion) . From what I’ve heard the teams linked with him are from Italy and Spain, have these teams seen this guy play other than the this years World Cup? I’m sorry but boyata for me isn’t a good defender and I’m glad he’s working his ticket out the door, just wish we’d had the good sense to take the £9 million that was on offer as for me that’s phenomenal money for boyata.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 15:37:41
Garry if we had taken the money before boyata had kicked off a lot of fans would have used it as another stick to beat the board with.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 16:54:38
Maybe kev but £9 million we’re talking here mate. That for me is crazy money for boyata. That also being said we should have a list as long as your arm of players, all positions that could be possibilities if we lose players in certain areas. There’s clubs all over the world lose players they maybe didn’t think would go and deal with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 19:33:29
I'd have bitten the hand off for £9m for Boyata even if he had 4 years left of his deal!

Does anyone know if the moose is def going away to Greece with the rest of the squad?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 12:46:53
What does people think needs doing to the squad? It's no secret the squad needs trimming down and replacing with some quality. There's a lot of cash could be made in player sales for people that don't look in BR immediate plans. It would seem players like Miller, Kouassi, Johnston, Hazard, Ralston would benefit loans this season. Christie maybe a decision of a squad player, loan or sale. I'd like to see Henderson and Aitchison being loaned out too somewhere to gain first team experience as they aren't far off breaking into the forst team squad. Personally the people that don't look like they'll be of much use and need sold are Bitton, Benyu, Compper, De Vries, Allan. There's a few that could be moved on too and replaced with better. Gamboa looks out of favour, Jozo hasn't done enough imo over past season and bit, Boyata wants away. Gordon to me shouldn't be first choice but will likely survive another season. So the squad will need a new RB, 2 CB, CM, RW.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 13:05:01
I’d personally love to see us sort out our defence before anything else. Badly need a solid experienced centre half how can organise plus bring the likes it ajer and hendry game on. Definitely a RB to compete if not replace lustig ( who has been a magnificent servant to us. I know we signed Bain in the summer but I’d be tempted to test the water with big Fraser Forster as Gordon’s not my cup of tea either. I’d also like us to go out and sign Roberts on a contract ( no loan) we know what the boy can produce. And finally that quality attacking infielder that can produce something from nothing when we’re up against it. That for me would be my ideal signing areas. can only wish.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 13:20:17
There are a few of us on here that are not big fans of Gordon, but he has held the gloves for over three seasons now and BR seems to have faith in him - probably because of his shot stopping - however, he has very dodgy distribution and panic periods that cause problems.
The scouting at Celtic Park is a big concern for me as we have done very well in the Scandinavian, French, Dutch and Belgian leagues over the years without spending a fortune and the far east or South America has also brought some success?
I agree with Garryc and worry about Lustig, whose pace, positioning and recovery have all but gone and if Gamboa is not the answer, then we need to add RB to CB, GK, MF and if Roberts is also availiable, why not?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 13:37:01
Solid no nonsense cb with a bit of pace prob is finding them.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 14:38:13
Hit the send a bit premature. If Boyata wants away and we sell Gamboa, Compper and Jozo we could surely get in a quality RB and 2 CB and still have change. Agree with all. If we sorted out the defence it would be a reasonably good window as it has been an issue for a few seasons. Lustig would be good back up. Bain doesn't do a lot wrong but isn't favored when Gordon has at least 1 heart in mouth moment because his distribution is honking. Defence is where we need to buy right now no good loaning people that needs to be settled. Can always loan a CM and RW but while the money is there it's best to invest it. And with player sales we could still come out in profit. Bitton, Benyu, Compper, Boyata, Gamboa and Jozo could rake in about £18m to reinvest in quality without even dipping into the bank.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 12:42:18
This isn't sour grapes but I am surprised NOT to see any more action from the SFA For Naysmiths actions yesterday yes he was booked for one off the ball kick but he did it twice that the Ref did not see Incidentally I think the Ref had a decent game But with that buffalo ruling last week opening any one can kick a player atleast ounce off the ball and stay on the park it just makes it crazy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 12:53:03
One of the main things that bothered me yesterday was he was allowed stand over a player and shout at him and not one of our players rushed over to get him away, there should of been some sort of scuffle which might of got our bhoys up for it.

It seems to me a lot of the fans are falling for the Media Agenda against our club.
Yes we got beat yesterday and Yes Boyata wants out. It's not as if this has never happened before or will happen again. The Media want us fans fighting against each other. They will do anything to help Sevco, through non stories or blatant lies.
Players come and go but no ONE player is bigger than the club. If players want to go, well cheerio to them.
We're all disappointed in the result yesterday but in the grand scheme of things it could be the best thing that's happened to us.
Keep the Faith and Roll on 8 in a Row. 🍀🍀.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 12:29:07
Did we get a bid of 9m for him? Is he causing as much trouble as has been reported? Hard to tell nowadays with a media so blatantly having an agenda to destabilise our club. If these allegations are true then firstly, why did we knock back that kind of cash for a player in the last year of his contract? Has he came home from the World Cup with an over inflated ego? If he is causing trouble, he should be dealt with within the scope of the club's disciplinary measures. And lastly, why has his agent got access to Lennoxtown? Why wasn't he told to F off and do things through the proper channels?
We are woefully short at the back, do we cut off our nose to spite our face and not play Boyata? Personally speaking, I would have him training with the kids and get him as far away from our first team as possible. I cannot stand primadonna footballers, and I certainly cannot stand people who renege on a contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 12:51:54
Firstly, there is no doubt we need to heed the managers philosophy of improving every season and to do that we need to try and entice better replacements for those who leave - or are not good enough.
Unfortunately detractors and snipers latch onto any scrap of disharmony or bad vibes and exaggerate and fabricate situations.
The supporters do have a right to their opinions and it would be ridiculous if everyone agreed, but not for one minute should we buy into or inflate anything that the sevco slanted media spout about our club and if anything should boycott the sources and use the negativity to strengthen our resolve and determination.
Sometimes our Board could make things a lot easier, mind you, by learning from past mistakes, not being complacent and resting on laurels and acting with decisiveness instead of hesitant haggling.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 11:36:49
The McGinn transfer was simple. McGinn asked Rodgers and Bruce if he would start every week. Rodgers said no. Bruce said Yes. McGinn chose Villa. End of transfer. Not excusing that Celtic should have tied it up earlier but that's what happened in the end.

On transfers. Brendan wants quality. Quality requires serious money. We have money but not serious money to compete for players who will improve us to CL level. This is Brendan's frustration - not falling out with the board but the realisation we don't have the 'serious' money to get the quality he wants. We spent 10m Euro's on Edouard and he's good but not the finished article so this clearly shows that for the type of huge money for Celtic we still need to buy young and hope they get better. Brendan can't win, the board can't win, the fans can't win. The only winners are the CL top clubs who have the cash we all know that.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

12 Aug 2018 12:14:24
You’d have thought McGinn would have seen himself as a natural successor to Broon and given our captains age it would just be a matter of time before he was guaranteed a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 12:33:26
How can a manager tell a player he's an automatic starter? McGinn could have a couple of stinkers for Villa and be benched.
I don't get that.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 13:13:44
It’s a fact. Brendan phoned McGinn and McGinn asked the question. He never got th answer he wanted and opted for Villa. Get the point completely that how can he be guaranteed a place but he was and that was it - mind made up and deal done. Celtic’s fault to start with but in the McGinn made the choice himself.

This Boyata fiasco is just not a good image for us I'll help pack his bags for him he is clearly does'nt want to be here or play for our jersey in a time where we need him even though I don't rate him he was pish when he arrived from city and BR brought him back into the fold and out of the cold now he back stabs us with his refusal to play and his agent just pushing for a move for his cut of the transfer money grabbing snake might as well get rid and cash in now before he goes for free.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2018 11:20:55
Here is is the positive spin on things. We only lost 1 nil yesterday last year it was 4 with a stronger starting 11. Boyata can now be sold and we can actually buy a ch that can defend with any money we get. Would even take a top loan signing to help Ajer Simo and more importantly Hendry who has all attributes but needs an experienced partner to kick on. Tuesday can't come quick enough and boys will be fired up and itching to put things right.

Ma mate sent me a message yesterday after the game saying hendry has started 8 times for us and we've only won once, if that's true it's some stat.

{Ed007's Note - Well he's started in 3 wins for us in CL qualifiers so far this season, 2 against Alashkert and one against Rosenborg.}

If Boyata is sold to Sevilla for 10 million then I want to see all of that re invested in the defence and more. 3 weeks left in the window now. Deals take days almost weeks at celtic. So we must bring in the players we need now.

WE ARE NOT A BAD TEAM, we just need the dead wood out and some sensible signings in! we WILL win the league.

Embarrasing performace. You have to admire what BR has done for Celtic but some of his signings (all) are useless. And all his negative press befor and after games about the board is affecting the team . Hendry koassi sinclair hayes should not play another game in the hoops.

{Ed0333's Note - he is a hopeless scout. When he starts buying players from Southampton then you really have to worry mate.

12 Aug 2018 10:40:15
Wow, things move fast in football. Since the midweek game we had nothing but bad and negative press, given yesterday it will ramp up till we lose in Greece, and we will.

How we can let hertz bully us and allow them to fight harder? We knew what was coming and seemingly done nothing to cancel their 'unique' style. Starting with the team, and i heard plenty Celts who were shocked at it, we gave them the upper hand and handed them the confidence they needed.

Defensively we were not too bad, only a freak strike won it for them, and it was a freak, but we were at best not too bad. Is this enough given where we were playing? Our defenders must have knew what we were facing and never went tight and stuck to their man.

Midfield and up front we looked lightweight. Never really cut through them and probably gave them an easy day they would not have expected. Hayes, never be a Celtic player and was very very poor. Kouassi, has this boy learned anything? Still seems the same raw kid as every other minute he has had on the pitch. Cal Mac had one of those days he has occasionally and was anonymous. Also seems to me he's not a fan of the tackle, a few he seemed hesitant at to be honest.

Questions need to be asked here, and BR has to answer them. Why was the Boyata situation not dealt with last season, we all knew he was off. He now must NEVER wear our shirt again, we will not be held to ransom by some greedy no mark agent, send the message. Why on earth are we paying a huge salary to Congerton when he seems to deliver nothing? We constantly play European teams, not CL level either, who out pass and out think our players, yet we never seem to buy anyone who stands out against us?

Set pieces, an utter disgrace, and have been for years. Why do we even put a corner into the box, we never profit, indeed with our CB's up we could be caught out. Just play it short, like Barcelona and keep possession. But every free kick is just put into the box, where's our imagination?

We are entering a real testing and crucial 6-7 weeks here. BR's team selection yesterday has made a tricky time into a potentially damaging one. If our board and management teams don't get it together this could get ugly fast.

We always knew the only way any team would get near Celtic was if Celtic beat themselves from the outside in. We have managed to do that. We all know the recruitment over the last year has been patchy. Hayes, Hendry, Kouassi, to name just a few are not strong enough so as soon as we need to freshen up the team we can't do it. If we lose Brown to an injury where do we go. When we take N'tcham out the midfield can't cope even with Brown as there is no replacement. 4 weeks ago all we had to do was recruit 3 players and we were strong for the season. Sitting back and saying wait for the EPL to close then we will bring in stars from EPL is not the way to do it. We need players in at the start of the window and get them ready for the season. We have lost momentum and that is going to take a while to rebuild especially if result goes against us on Tuesday. Like many i am very disappointed as to what is happening in our club. Please don't tell me there are 3 weeks of the window left and it will be ok. By the time the players come in and get up to speed we will have played 4 or more SPL games. Rangers game only 3 weeks away. For me I feel there are tensions between Rodgers and the Board and sometimes these issues take a long time to fix. Yesterday we lacked cohesion. Some posters have been shouting about the CB position for a year now. Others saying we have 6 centre backs how nany more do we need. Now Ajar is out for Tuesday. Boyata refusing to play. Comper always injured. We have Hendry and Jozo. can't believe we have got ourselves in this position. Come on PL, this is Celtic. You have personally messed this up, you need to give BR the tools to fix this quick.

If Boyata's out the door take the money and replace him with someone who not only can defend, but can be a leader for the younger guys and coach them through a game which Boyata never did. That might even bring about a Jozo resurgence. I don't know who would fit that description but tbh that's not my job and somebody actually gets paid good money to do that job.

If the rumours about the amount of money being offered are accurate, then you do have to wonder what’s going on.

Rodgers said we want to keep him because good centre backs are hard to find. I wonder if the club just don’t have a proper replacement lined up.

Either way it’s clear Boyata wants to go and won’t sign a new deal so may as well sell him.

12 Aug 2018 11:32:08
Ive always been of the opinion that if someone doesn't want to play for us he should be sold as there is no sense in forcing someone to play if their heart is not in it so if Boyata wants to go we should get as much for him as we can and wish him all the best. I hope he doesn't live to regret this moment later on. It makes me laugh when I think how many people have wanted to punt him for a long time and now that he wants to go we want to keep as long as he is under contract and make him rot in the reserves.
It is clear that the team needs strengthened but like BR says by quality and not quantity and I hope the result of yesterday, which could be a blessing in disguise, doesn't provoke panic buying. We need to keep the faith and we will come out of this slump stronger for the experience. Perhaps talk like "invincibles" "double treble" "10 in a row" etc ha made us rest on our laurels and an expectancy to win every game and we have to realise that we can't live in the past nor the future but only the present and give 110% every game. We will win the league one game at a time and if yesterday we fell we get straight back up again. And we'll think about 10 in a row when we already have 9.

If what's being said in the media is true id like to see boyata train in the reserves for the season. It's not like the $10m will be spent on a replacement anyway.
He has a decent world cup and all of a sudden he thinks he's baresi.
I'm sure it's all being blown up by the media anyway, they love kicking us when any notion of us being in a rut shows face.

Apart from the mistake at the crumbledome can't think of any in the last y months. and was sound at the wc, ad have him in personally before any of the other bombscares we have . jozo gave the ball away 4 times yesterday and it was lucky it was hearts or we would have been punished and young Jack lacks experience so boyata for me.

12 Aug 2018 07:51:16
First let me say what boyata is doing. Through his agent and the press is unforgivable Celtic took him from mean city reserves and gave him a platform to play again a platform that got him a World Cup medal, but is the blame all on one side no, over a month ago I put on a post that at least 6weeks ago Celtic were aware he wanted to leave and would not be signing a extension that gave Celtic a full 6weeks to replace him knowing that they would receive a substantial fee for him that is primary why it has come to this point, the blunt truth is some where in the recruitment department there has been a complete breakdown, desmond needs to get back here now and bang some heads together and sort this bloody mess out before it escalates further, on yesterday's game the most disappointing thing was Naismith was allowed to wander around kicking every player he came near and nobody in our team had the stones to sort him out oh for a wee Bertie or big tam someone to stand up for the slighter and younger team mates.

I don’t care if boyata is the best central defender at Celtic ( which says a hell of a lot for me about our centre half’s) or not, knocking back £9 for him is criminal.

12 Aug 2018 08:28:57
Spot on. But he should never kick a ball for us again. A bad influence and he is no where near as good as his inflated ego thinks he is. If no offers come in so be it, let him rot for 12 months.

I'm sure BR will deal with the Boyata situation as he would any petulant moper and isolate any disruptive element.
I do agree wholeheartedly about that wee skunk Naismith as Beaton and any other Sevco-sympathizing official are clearly happy to let him try to injure our players all afternoon with his dirty antics with a token yellow card and a wink.
I would never advocate violent play from a Celtic player, but we certainly do not have enough battlers or an assertive presence - apart from Broony - to deal with wee sniggering nyaffs like her.

Guys my assessment so far keeping recruitment for later.
As an attacking force we seem to struggle to break teams down a lot esp when they back off (albeit when MD not fit) , this was evident last season too.

Our strike force is never consistent, call me a fool but I always thought strikers were confidence players.

Set pieces: we are woeful at these which is really strange cos not so long ago we were really good, maybe it was due to LG being on the pitch, Boyata too maybe.

Question is what are we doing in training as anybody knows how important set pieces are in todays game.
Midfield for me is clearly good enough for SPFL but i've said for a while now its the MAIN problem in Europe not the defense.
Why? Cos anytime we are up against a superior team they give the ball away and it comes straight back at us time and time again. And if u allow Neymar Messi etc to that freedom u are in trouble. If we keep the ball better the other team has less of the ball and likely to score less.

Brown for me will dominate SPFL again but I see signs he is waining already and maybe McGinn would have helped.
Defense, while they are always criticised its more about the way we play than how good/ bad the players are.
Take Sweden as an eg, obv ML is in that team and they defend well against superior teams cos they don't come out and try to play open football but stay compact and play to their strengths, much like the Hearts game today.

Tactically and this is my main gripe with BR, WHY doesn't he change it up on occasion like today for eg and play to hit on the break.

Not only would it be great practise for Europe but it would confuse the SPFL teams away from home as we certainly have the players and pace to burn to utilise it.

It would also help the defense for Europe as they would be under more pressure and have to stay compact.

Why not invite them on and play like France did for eg a 433 with Forrest MD and OE sitting 40 yards out and sneak the ball and go at SPFL teams we could easily be 3-0 up by half time at a difficult away ground.
Right now every team knows how we play, albeit we will win most cos of superior players we must have alternative options and today was an ideal game.
Also the benefit of these tactics are you cover less ground, saves legs 3 days before a big game.
Also if we defended as a team we would find out how good our defenders really are.
Its no coincidence the best defenders in the world all play for teams that are compact.
Chiellini Godin etc.
