ED, just wanted to ask your thoughts on Shankland and the prospect of him at Celtic? Would you think he'd be good enough? Definetley looks like a great player.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - If he was going to be 3rd or 4th choice I'd take him but apart from that it's a no from me, at 24 (25 this year) he's hardly a youth with potential and his career has been peaks and troughs with the peaks always being in the lower divisions. Scoring goals in the 3rd and 2nd divisions in Scotland doesn't impress me.}

11 Jan 2020 22:52:38
Why do people believe the myth that if you can score a lot of goals at one level you can do it at every level.
Its total bull💩💩💩.

If shankland was knocking them in for our development squad, everybody would be wanting Lenny to give him a chance, and that’s a lower level than the championship.

12 Jan 2020 09:50:04
@souny1888 If Shankland was still in our development squad at his age I'd be raging at our coaches. if the boy was say 18 or 19 then sure he would be worth the gamble but at nearly 25 it's a no from me.

12 Jan 2020 11:29:44
Can you imagine the damage Griffiths would do playing up front for Dundee Utd in Championship?

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Jan 2020 21:39:14
No be that if he’s at united next season and bagging them in the premier league. Then gets his move down south, Lawwell will be getting it in the neck for no signing him. The boys a goalscorer, who knows the game here. Signing a wee nobody from Poland is more of a risk than shankland!

11 Jan 2020 19:42:09
Lawrence shankland?

11 Jan 2020 20:14:34
Hell no! Not good enough!

Snap him up, use the Morgan money.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 21:52:50
Aye let’s get rid of one average player we got from the championship for another! Great idea 👍🏼.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 22:38:14
Snap him up?
Have you learned nothing from morgan and allen?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 23:24:57
You just have to look at our opponents every week to reaffirm they have nothing better than we have that could step up to our level.
We have made some very poor domestic signings in recent years from Morgan and Hendry to Allen and Ciftci and even the most recent, Gregg Taylor can't make inroads into the first team as yet.
We should always look to improve on the squad and not compromise or lower standards - especially with so much at stake to play for.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 23:49:18
so tell me who anyone would fancy bringing in because no-one seems to be with anybody that's been mentioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2020 12:19:29
no from me, what ever happened to young jack aitkinson.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jan 2020 19:57:53
The Morgan money wouldn't even buy Shankland worst leg. DD Utd would want at least £2 million.

Now as some of you may know I am a fan of Neil Lennon however when it comes to talking to the press about our transfer plans, I thinks he comes across as an absolute amateur. He said he expected two players to be signed and join the squad in Dubai. The squad fly home tomorrow and no players have been signed. It was the same during the summer when CL qualifier deadline was approaching, again he said he expected 1 or 2 signings before the deadline and guess what. No players arrived. He did exactly the same in his first spell in charge. I think he's better to keep his mouth shut and would not end up looking stupid.

11 Jan 2020 17:55:00
Everything I seen or read he said he hoped, not expected.

11 Jan 2020 18:08:29
Agree but maybe the money men told him the deals were close and are penny pinching as norm and maybe by saying that he puts pressure on them. but who really knows.

11 Jan 2020 18:08:48
He needs to keep quiet until the deals are done.

It looks like the usual window for us iceman. Going to get players in at the last minute . I know we have a fair bit of time left in the window but it seems to take an age for us to sign players . Surely ground work and discussions have taken place, surely they have decided now who their number one targets are. Coming back after a period where we haven’t really played well lately, the squad needs boosting with quality, the way the fans and club felt after the Rangers defeat we should have turned around the mood by signing early. This dragging stuff out just winds up the fans more, with the shoe on the other foot, when the Rangers lost earlier in the season the next day they signed kent. It changes the mood around the place, I’m sure we will get players in but it would have been nice for them to be in early. We should have had them in to integrate with the team in Dubai •.

11 Jan 2020 18:40:05
Burke, Weah, Shved, Bayo, Toljan, Perez and Gutman came in during last season's dreadful transfer window in 2019/ . So we better have raised the bar this year instead of squandering millions.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 19:08:39
Pud Burke and Weah were good signings for me. They gave us something different and both played their part in us marching on to the title. The 2 American lads are prospects so can't judge them yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 19:28:29
Didn't Shved spend the rest of the Ukranian season on loan back to his old club? So he was never really signed to make an impact for last seasons run in.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 20:38:54
Quinn 1888. Sevco signing Kent was reckless on their part and may well come back to haunt them.
I always want to see us strengthening our squad but I think the main thing that will decide our season is how the manager sets the team up tactically.
I feel we have better players at our club than Sevco has but Lennon is consistently being out thought on the tactical side by Gerrard and he keeps leaving us outnumbered in midfield.
This season we have managed to compete with Lazio, and finish top of our group in the Europa league, it shouldn't be beyond the players we have to get the better of Sevco if the correct tactics are used.

Question to @ED007 and you lads.
How much did we get for sinky
What is being said about
Lewis Morgan how much was offered etc. An amazing chance for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We supposedly got £300k for Sinclair and I heard the bid was around £650k - 750k for Morgan although it was suggested it was £900k but I think that's a bit hopeful - maybe up there if there's add-ons.}

11 Jan 2020 20:55:11
Cheers ed@007
Thought as much since media not all over it.
They are only interested in rumours and bad news regarding Celts.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We'll bring in circa £1 million from both of transfers - so only about £2.5m more needed and that's Lawwell's wages covered this year 😉

11 Jan 2020 15:52:09
@ed007, / lads
Did we get money for Sinclair and how much.
Also what is on the table for Lewis Morgan imo that would be a dream more does anyone know what we got or trying to get for both of them.

Sinclair is on loan till the end of the season, then he's a free agent.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sinclair isn't on loan, he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at PNE.}

11 Jan 2020 11:47:02
Come on Celtic get the money spent enough is enough, millions in the bank get it spent or the Tribute act will be champions.

Possible windfall from dembelle sale if it happens money for sinc and Morgan there no reason why we can't do business.

Freeing up wages we have plenty of deadwood or players not contributing picking up a wage so best get them off the books first. Hopefully can move on the likes of Gordon, Hendry, Benyu, Miller. And getting loans in SPL for Kouassi, Bayo and Shved.

11 Jan 2020 13:49:04
Should be spending the tierney money £25 million.

11 Jan 2020 11:45:03
sorry to say but Griff will never be a 30 to 40 goal striker again, mentally not strong enough, he's been training for weeks and weeks and is still no where near it time to go.

11 Jan 2020 07:55:02
Morning ED, I see we're looking for a defensive midfielder what was the score with the lad kouassi does he just not have the class to make it at Celtic. I don't see him getting much of a look in and he seems wasted not even making the bench now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Kouassi is still working his way back from the cruciate ligament injury he suffered - and tried to run off - against Hearts over a year ago. I'm sure he played in a couple of reserve/academy games last month - he definitely played in a Reserve Cup match as my mate that works for Accies was watching it and text me to say he was playing.}

11 Jan 2020 12:19:32
One thing you can definitely say about him is he has heart ed. Tried to run off a cruciate injury, mental.

Just had a quick look at our fixture list and six of our next eight domestic games are away from home.
That pesky 'random fixture computer' is a wee rascal. Aye Right!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2020 11:33:21
That's because we played more games before the break. No conspiracy here.

11 Jan 2020 11:48:44
I think we've actually had a fairer crack at the whip this season. We will have the better run in hopefully at the business end of the season. Plus we are usually shafted after the euro games and usually always away but they've split them games a bit more evenly this season.

11 Jan 2020 10:33:38
Why are we paying rogic and Johnstone wages injured again and won't make thistle game . kev a think your right about Johnstone not tough enough for this level.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2020 11:34:23
Hes 19 he needs time to bulk up.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 12:10:50
He can bulk up agreed but it's recovering from kicks during games he struggles with think this ones from a kick.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 12:21:13
Everyone seems to think he can just bulk up because KT and christie did. That doesn't happen for every player. Johnstone won't bulk up to the extent it makes a difference.

What is Lennon doing elhamed injured again only played 4 games looking at loan players again proved one point selling club no signing one striker eddy valued 30mil.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Jan 2020 10:48:47
Firstly, I know there is still plenty time to do business; however,
I would have hoped that the club would have had plenty time leading up to the 'window' to be well prepared to acquire the quality needed.
The perfect tonic after a bad result would have been a couple of new arrivals joining-up at the training camp for maximum preparation.
Unfortunately, we are still waiting and wondering - with a week to go until our first competitive match - as to who, if any will arrive?
At least the exit-door seems to be working well, raising more funds, although leaving more gaps in a shrinking squad, due to injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 11:32:21
Celtic mad we are a selling club not interested in spending. lawell wants money in dembele transfer to him is 4mil he was offered players sat back again richest man in football and done nothing. same again injured players in a training camp madness Christie chastised by the s.f.a. he done nothing he only wants prospects so he can sell them for big money. proved it time again loan players or cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2020 14:07:08
Leading up to the rangers game many fans forecasting 2-0,3-1 etc and winning the league comfortably. Since we lost that game panic has set in, Lawwell get the cheque book out etc, it wasn’t Lawwell’s fault we lost, that was down to an incompetent manager who picked the wrong team and didn’t know how to change things and never learned anything from the cup final.

Celtic linked with maccabi tel aviv striker Yonatan Cohen, 6ft 1 23 year old israeli with 14 goals in 14 games this season and valued at 2.5m
Don't know how much truth is in it but apparently Nick hammond had him watched the other night when he scored a double.

Think he is more of a left winger mark who can also play second striker.

Someone who can play both positions would be perfect. Means we can switch formations much easier as well.
