Does Lennon actually think that as far as results go are not down to him? And the pland protest is to the board asking why they haven't replaced him as manager. With his statement tonight Does he actually think and believe that he is doing a good job? Because it's not doing him or his backroom staff any good they have only lost one domestic game OMG not mentioning the bad performances bad decisions for player selection the amount of draws we have had 13 points adrift with the most expensive players in the league by far not to mention the poor display in Europe but in his mind he is doing okay wake up Lennon.

Tbh mate I don’t think everything is down to him. You can argue about tactics team selections whatever you like.

Players downing tools and players not ready has been the issue. Lennon has been at the helm when this has happened.
Maybe one day we’ll find out who signed who etc. I do agree that on paper he should be getting a better tune out them.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 04:28:50
Tony I've had a good think about this since yesterday and for me Lennon is solely to blame.

Last night I did give benefit of doubt, thinking maybe Lawwell was interfering in team selection but ruled this out after remembering Lennon first stint.

We shouldn't be in this position worrying about 10iar. We are the benchmark with 9iar, we should of been doing everything right to maintain that status but an incompetent manager and complacency has allowed the strongest Rangers side in their 8 year history to put serious pressure on 10iar.

Just to elaborate and for the purpose of debate.

Ever since before the first fernavicos game I had the feeling something was off. Lennons body language has been totally different. When he speaks it’s the vocabulary he’s using. Not the same as last season. He looks suicidal at times. I think there’s been more going on behind the scenes that’s upset the team. Maybe not. Ever thought it might be a suit that’s leaked the teams b4 matches? The Sutton’s and Harrison’s will know the real issue.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 09:40:00
I really don't think anyone needs to leak the team to anyone as Lenny picks or has picked the same team for more than a year irrespective on how they perform. He plays the same way in all the games if it's clear it's no working he just sits there chewing looking blank until 60 plus minutes then makes a substation Really Sadly most if not all teams know what he will do.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 11:05:14
Tamthebam who’s Harrison.

I would play Duffy beside Jullian if it means we can play Ajer at right back on Sunday.
I would also give Barkas another chance in goals in the hope he receives more protection
My team for Sunday.
Barkas
Ajer. Jullian. Duffy. Laxalt
Soro. McGregor
Christie. Turnbull. Elyounoussi
Edouard.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

12 Dec 2020 00:08:42
I wouldn't have Duffy anywhere near the first team on Sunday. Although the team mostly played well last night I thought Duffy was brutal, the guy is just not up to it imo. If ajer plays right back I'd have Welsh in before Duffy.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 01:30:17
Why Christie? he has done nothing lately except run about like a headless chicken.
His crossing is dire and constantly blasts the ball over from 25 yrds.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 04:02:48
Would like to see soro but wouldn’t be surprised if he was benched. Did he not get cramp during Lille match? Maybe better to start playing him regularly once he stops getting cramp? It’s one of them isn’t it?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 07:52:20
No surprise that he did but I think he was also seeing us over the line. He chased someone down straight from sideline. He's done more in one game as most of midfield in last 5. Has to start.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 08:18:21
If Christie and Turnbull play Christie better not get near a corner/ dead ball. that's something Lennon can surely see.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 08:46:02
Jonbhoy
Celtic are missing Forrest on the right.
We are limited with who can play there.
Johnston is a couple of weeks away and Young Dembele hasn’t had a look in.
It leaves Christie or Frimpong.
It’s neither of those players first choice position.
I would start with Christie and then bring Frimpong on in the 2nd half when Killie begin to tire on our big pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 08:52:28
I think Soro will start but I don’t see both Soro and Turnbull finishing the game.
I can see Christie getting moved into the middle to replace one of them in the 2nd half.
Frimpong will replace Christie on the right.
This will mean that Brown is way down the pecking order.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 08:55:07
My team for Sunday:

Hazard

Ajer
Julien
Welsh
Laxalt

Soro
McGregor

Christie
Turnbull
Elyounoussi

Griffiths.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 12:18:01
Bidbhoy why do u want to play a over weight unfit striker? The guy is a super goal scorer when he is right but unfortunately he is not. Now in December and he is not fit. The last time he came on the guy had a belly showing! The lad needs to have a long hard look at himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 22:11:27
Any idea as to why we aren't playing one of our games in hand midweek? Is it simply due to the cup final.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 22:55:58
I don’t know the reason why jaw because it’s usually the first available date.
Hopefully when the game does get replayed, Celtic are flying.
The SPFL announced this week our game away to Livingston which was supposed to be next week, is now rescheduled for Wednesday January 20th.
It’s strange how the Livingston game got rearranged first.
Especially when Celtic have had one of our games outstanding since August.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 16:01:37
Agreed buzz seems a no brained for me to use this midweek even if they had simply brought the Livingston game forward from Saturday to wednesday. In a selfish note though hopefully by the time we play all these games they're starting to let us back in.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 22:06:43
What do you guys make of this Ross rumour personally I think we should be aiming higher someone to take us up a level or 2 Ross would likely be a side step rather than a step forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 22:18:15
Just simply not good enough IMO cheap option once again from the board but hopefully just hear say.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 23:02:31
Apart from Brendan,
Celtic have taken the cheaper option since the days of Strachan over 10 years ago.
Tony Mowbray was followed by an inexperienced Neil Lennon.
Next in line was a guy no one had heard of in Ronnie Deila and then back to Lennon after Brendan Rodgers.
All of those managers apart from Rodgers was a cheap option.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 11:41:02
I want to see us bin this expansive football and play a type of gegenpress Going with this view. A German with good English.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 21:23:22
We have brought in French players over the last few years who have done well. I would like to see us try and sign 1 or 2 German players. I can only think of 3 we have had. Compper Thom and Hinkel. I watch a lot of German Football which I think is a better league than The Pub League with loads of technically gifted players and most games are free flowing attacking Football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 22:14:33
Pud, we have a big enough and good enough squad to be doing far better than our current league position. If Lennon starts picking the right, team the only position needing strengthening would be our defence imo.

11 Dec 2020 23:07:30

11 Dec 2020 18:09:09
was a refreshing change to see some new blood in the team, players that wanted to play for the club and themselves well done them. the prima donnas that have stifled the club and were not on show last night should know now that no one has a guaranteed place. it is my belief that lawell had forced lennon to pick the same players who have sell on value. but it backfired they thought they were bigger than the club. Alex Ferguson turned to youth and we all know where that went. so its up to lennon if he really is his own man do the right thing.

11 Dec 2020 18:22:37
Name them shame them and punt them.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 18:59:12
There is nothing wrong with a player wanting to move and try a new club that happens all the time doesn't make them a bad player or person But if that player asks for a move and doesn't get it and decides to not try and put effort into their game that makes them a bad player. Depends on what category those players fall into.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 19:11:38
Eddy and his buddy Nchomp are prima donnas and have downed tools. After the latter’s performance against the Klan he should never have worn a Celtic jersey again. They both have egos like the rodent and will be as welcome back to Glasgow. Not.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 19:12:45
If the manager didn't choose (or was told to pick) those unsettled players not giving 100% we probably wouldn't be in this mess?
I appreciate there were two or three, but we have the biggest and best squad to cover, as all it did was disrupt and demoralize the rest and possibly hijack our season.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 19:19:54
Tony if you’re under contract the people that pay your wages deserve your best efforts irrespective of whether you WANT a move of not. You honour what you sign your name too.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 19:59:06
Come this transfer window and the Summer I would guess that Ntcham, Eddie, Christie, Ajer, Elhamed and maybe Julien and Rogic leaving. Duffy gone, Brown a bit part final season.3 midfielders a Right Back 2 Centre Halfs, Right sided winger and permanent deals for Moi and Laxalt for starters.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 22:28:55
I agree JFP But are those players really not trying or is it the formation and service that they are receiving that is making them look bad? But I do agree if they are not trying shame on them. Celtic are still paying their wages and it won't endear themselves to another club.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 15:30:45
One thing that is doing us a turn now is the fixtures all the way to the split. Win the cup as a morale booster and only 2 fixtures which SHOULD cos us trouble is ibrox and away to killie. All other games are seriously winnable.

11 Dec 2020 19:16:39
One wee concern I still have is goalkeeper and defense. It was great to get a win, but we conceded another two - making 30 goals let-in since - and including the Sevco game and we need to sort this out.

11 Dec 2020 19:18:58
Agree 100%.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 01:01:25
I think up until Feb we have the easier run of fixtures so it's just all about grinding out wins and hopefully get back to form. They will drop points eventually we just need to concentrate on our own form for now and the gap will sort itself out.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 15:18:25
Wonder if we would still be in Cup and closer in league had changes been made earlier? Also, would anyone take Jozo to end of season? Free agent and for me is a better CH than Duffy, Bitton and Ajer. Obviously issues with his fitness but I'm sure a pay as u play deal would suit both parties. Last night shows we can be a decent outfit if we pick the right personell. Last nights team with a motivated Edouard and we would soon be on a winning streak. HH.

A couple of extra interesting facts about our historical 1966/ 67 season.
Most Celtic fans will know that Celtic won everything we entered that season and we only lost 3 competitive games.
Celtic lost both home and away to Dundee Utd 3-2 and we also lost away to Yugoslavian side Vojvodina in the European cup quarter final first leg 1-0 before Celtic won the return leg 2-0 to go through.
The Yugoslavian league had a winter break from January until March.
Celtic were due to play Vojvodina in March, so they played a friendly against another Yugoslavian club Dinamo Zagreb in February at Celtic Park.
Dinamo Zagreb actually won the friendly at Celtic Park scoring an 87th minute winner in front of 46,000 fans.
Also interestingly Dinamo Zagreb went on the win the 1966/ 67 Fairs Cup.
They beat Juventus in the quarters and then Eintracht Frankfurt, before they beat Leeds Utd 2-0 over two legs in the Final.
When both clubs played that friendly in February '67 I don't think they would've dreamed they would both go on to win a European trophy each 2 months later.
That friendly was the only other defeat Celtic suffered that season.
Celtic also beat Man Utd 4-1 in a friendly at the start of the season and Celtic also beat Real Madrid away 1-0 at the end of the season in a Testimonial.
A Season That Will Never Be Forgotten.

Lennon still has to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 11:33:00
It's only fair we sing the team's praises after last night when we've given them so much stick after poor results. More than the result, I was delighted with the character of the players to be pegged back twice and still win. Other games recently we'd have crumbled. One result doesn't change my feelings on the managerial situation but it's a great felling to see us winning and hopefully we can double down against Killie. I'd stick with Hazard, Soro and Turnbull and I'd keep Ajer at RB on Sunday. I'd be tempted to go with Griff up front as well.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 12:18:29
Agreed.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 13:13:05
Definitely Hazard, Soro and Turnbull all must start, but I'd put Eddie back in. If we want to win this title then we need him (fit and focused) more than anyone.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 13:47:01
I'd not play him. He's not showed effort or endeavour up until this point. Klimala has his limitations but his pressing makes opportunity. Ajeti put in a shift. I'd go with him Sunday.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 14:21:10
Eddy with turnbull supplying him would be different i think, definitely they all looked more hungry last night, just hope lenny sees that and doesn't go back to favorites again, really can't see ntcham getting back in unless injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 15:03:43
Eddy gets too much stick, it's the midfield that's been wrong with this team, as I have been saying for ages, if the midfield is performing better, we need somebody up top to score goals, Klimala tries hard and is a hard working honest player but I don't think he is a natural goal scorer, Eddy, Ajeti and LG are, I would play Eddy and, or, one of the other two depending on the game.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 15:29:47
Eddy shouldn't get anywhere near our first team, he has done nothing in weeks he doesn't look interested when he is playing I would let him know that he is no longer first choice stick with the team that played well last night and give them a chance. Klimala ajeti and griff all need games and the all want to be here, so I would play them all before eddy.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 11:30:11
Dont want to hex it but thought Duffy and julien played well together last night. Keep bitton out if the defence and keep ajer at rb where he doesn't get exposed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 12:06:03
Dont know about that, Duffy is still a bombscare, I always thought his passing is horrendous but after last night his heading might actually be worse!

11 Dec 2020 13:12:49
If we play the two of em every week we’ll score from a lot of corners.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 15:07:45
I think Duffy is only at Celtic for sentimental reasons, we should be trying to get a different class of centre back in the January transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 15:31:08
We need a Billy Mcneil or a Paul Elliot type of CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 16:19:10
Duffy did fine last night there was nothing they could do about goals but if McGregor passing was better maybe the defence might just get a breather.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Dec 2020 08:04:12
Soro in front of defence helps but we badly need a left sided cb hh.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 10:25:01
If lennon drops soro and turnbull then he deserves everything that comes . they should be certain started. Soro sees danger and deals with it and turnbull has a first touch out the top drawer and a great range of passing oh and he scores no over hit diagonals that go out the park.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 11:33:01
It all adds to the confusion and frustration as to why they have been virtually ignored since the start of the season?
Permutations between Brown, Cal-Mac, Christie, Rogic and Ntcham have all struggled and failed, while one lone striker has also been an issue with me, with so many variations available.
I agree that the game on Sunday will determine a few things.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 13:31:21
Lennon will pick the exact same team that played last weekend, Why?
Because he is just that stupid.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 13:50:04
Soro does what brown should be doing. He turns and releases the ball to our CAM Turnbull who then deals with it correctly. He was outstanding last night. Soro and Turnbull.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 18:13:34
Lennon should have been playing those players much earlier in the season he surely would have or should have seen them in training. And knew what they were like just another example of terrible management.

As it stands Scotland are 0.425 co-efficient points ahead of Ukraine in the race for 11th place, which will guarantee CL football for next season’s Scottish Champions for season 2022/ 23.
Rangers are the only club left representing Scotland and will continue to receive 0.5 points a win and 0.25 points for a draw in the knockout stages.
Ukraine however have both Shahkar and Kiev representing them in the knockout stages and will receive only 0.4 points for a win and 0.2 points for a draw.
The difference in co- efficient points is Scotland only had 4 clubs representing them in Europe and UEFA gives each club 2 co-efficient points for a win.
That 2 points gets divided by 4 which becomes 0.5 co-efficient points for a win and 0.25 points for a draw.
Ukraine however had 5 clubs representing them and a 2 points win for them gets divided by 5 which becomes 0.4 points for a win and half of that for a draw.

think we all know now players who want to play for club play and we give a brilliant performance soro and turnbull are starters. lenny would be crazy to drop them.

after last night that performance brings a lot of confidence to the team and lenny has found the spark the squad has been crying out for it was right under his nose.

this protest that has been planned for sunday must not go ahead were abuse will be shouted at the team bus it will not help at all players in our team just now will have a buzz and want to kick on. this is the corner we have turned and 10 is on its way i am going to put this out there we will turn sevco over in a few weeks and win our games in hand and when there lead gets smaller and smaller they will feel pressure and we will take the title. buckle up fellow celts its going to be a close title but 10 is on its way.

Myself and a few on here have been banging the drum for soro and turnbull for weeks and look what they are capable of. so it's been poor management not to have played them or jobs for the bhoys. Both should start on Sun. young hazard did nothing wrong but he'll prob go with barkas.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Dec 2020 08:12:03
Problem is it they played well in a meaningless match with zero pressure.
Now Lenny has to decide if he sticks with them for Sunday which he should but how will Christie and Brown react in changing room.
With both playing 1st game from start in months both might not be fit enough to play again just a few days later.
Personally I think he will start Turnbull with either Brown or Christie replacing Soro.
Brown if he wants like for like Christie if he wants more attacking side unless he’s put out on left and Brown comes back in?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 08:37:12
Ther might have been zero pressure on us, but Lille were playing for top spot, so it was very competitive and credit where it's due. Obviously it doesn't have any bearing on our season as such, but it's a much needed win after such a shocking run if results/ performances.
Now, the real test comes on Sunday to see if lessons have finally been learned as NL must be on his last 'life' as manager?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Dec 2020 08:52:23

What a delight it was to watch Turmbull and Soro tonight. Added energy to the side. A bit of bite. Klimala may not be everyone's cup of tea but again he offers a willingness to run and chase defenders down. Defend from the front. Giving decent service he'll score goals.

Long way to go. Some of the defending was school boy stuff at times. But it's a move in the right direction.

Let's hope the young guns get their chance against Killie.

Celtic will continue to struggle if they play teams that play a low block camp in you seen tonight we have players who can play. But we need a physical type player up top especially for the league. Time for some players to go next month we all know who but I'm happy tonight good honest performance.

I liked Soro my type of player but how many of those challenges will he make on Sunday. Turnbull head up all night strong and quick Griffiths playing on top form tonight we could have had a few more clear the decks and get players who are hungry.
Au revoir

I think the obvious answer is Scott Brown.
He’s been an amazing servant to Celtic.
We’ve been trying for years to bring in his replacement,
starting with Kouassi which didn’t work out and then Lawwell missed out on McGinn.
For Celtic to still be relying on a 35 year old Scott Brown to be starting every week and somehow expect the same consistent dominant performances,
is too much to ask.
It was refreshing to see a young man like Soro putting in a performance tonight that Scott Brown himself would’ve been proud off.

Christie for me wasn’t missed. In the 1st half anyway! . Thoughts?

Its strange but not surprising that it has taken this long for the Celtic manager to see what a lot on here have been saying for months and it has proved the point that we do have good players ones that would have at least the points deficit a lot less than what it is just now IF only we has a good manager in place.
